Islamabad(SBR)The inaugural Asian Masters Weightlifting Championship will begin on May 27 in Doha, Qatar. A 10-member Pakistan team, led by the President of the Pakistan Masters Weightlifting Association, Arshad Khan Turk, will participate in the event. For the first time, women athletes will also take part in the championship. On this occasion, under the chairpersonship of Davis Afirman (Chairperson, International Weightlifting Association) and Mohammad Kabiri (President, Asian Masters Weightlifting Association), the South Asian Weightlifting Association will also be established. Arshad Khan Turk is a candidate for the presidency of the South Asian Masters Weightlifting Association, while India will nominate a candidate for General Secretary. His success will be a significant honor for Pakistan, and if elected, the Secretariat of the South Asian Masters Weightlifting Association will be established in Islamabad, which will further promote weightlifting in the country.This championship, being held from May 27 to 31 in Doha, will feature both male and female athletes for the first time. After a long period of limited representation since 1990, it is a proud moment for Balochistan as Abdul Razzaq (52kg) represented Pakistan in the Asian Games in Beijing. For the first time in the history of Asian weightlifting since Pakistan's independence, female master lifters who are triple national gold medalists and record holders will represent the country. Four master male lifters from Balochistan have been selected for this historic championship.The 10-member Pakistan Masters team, including three women athletes, consists of Women Lifters, Neelam Riaz, Nadia Masood, Saibel SohailMen Lifters, Rashid Khan, Abdul Malik, Kashif Rehan, Muhammad Iqbal, and others. Officials, Team Leader Arshad Khan Turk, Team Manager Syed Masroor Zaidi, and Assistant Manager Umar Javed.Arshad Khan Turk expressed complete satisfaction with the performance of the national male and female masters weightlifters and stated that the presence of 25 players and officials from Pakistan will raise the national flag high and bring home gold medals.

Sports Bulletin Report Quetta: Ayyub Khan Khilji unanimously appointed Patron, while Aalam Din (International weightlifter) and Kashif Rehan (National weightlifter) were elected President and Secretary respectively, for a term of 4 years. Azhar Iqbal (National weightlifter) was elected Treasurer. The elections were conducted by an election commission headed by Tariq Butt, an advocate Supreme Court of Pakistan. Najm-us-saeed and Tahir Mehmood, both International officials and players, and Ali Raza (Director National Training and Coaching Centre Quetta) also witnessed and supervised the elections.

Sports Reporter LAHORE (November 4, 2021):-Punjab weightlifters with 107 points won the Inter-Provincial Boys Under-17 Weightlifting Tournament at the weightlifting venue adjacent to Nishtar Park Sports Complex (NPSC) Gymnasium Hall here on Thursday. Punjab players took six gold medals, one silver and one bronze medal during the 3-day competition held under the auspices of Sports Board Punjab (SBP). Sindh boys, who scored 56 points, bagged second position with two silver and four bronze medals. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (55 points) finished third with three silver and four bronze medals while Balochistan (53 points) got 4th place with two gold medals, one silver and two bronze medals. In the 71kg contest, Punjab’s Abdul Razzaq clinched the gold medal, Shahnawaz of Sindh took silver while bronze went to KP’s Abdul Samad. Punjab weightlifter Danish Butt dominated the +71kg competition by winning gold medal. The silver medal was won by M Haris of KP while Noel Jhon of Sindh bagged bronze in this event. Punjab’s Abdul Raheem grabbed gold medal in 64kg weight category. Noor Ahmed of Balochistan took silver and Sindh’s Shaharyar got bronze medal in this competition.  

Raja Abrar LAHORE (November 3, 2021):-Punjab contingent with 4 gold medals, one silver and one bronze medal and 76 points led the points table of Inter-Provincial Boys Under-17 Weightlifting Tournament on the second day at weightlifting venue adjacent to NPSC Gymnasium Hall on Thursday. Balochistan team is placed second with two gold medals, one silver and one bronze medal and 46 points, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is third with three silver medals and 30 points followed by Sindh boys who had scored 24 points so far with four bronze medals. Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh along with Director Sports Hafeez Bhatti, Assistant Director Raees ur Rehman and other officials also witnessed the exciting weightlifting and hockey matches on Thursday. Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh was warmly received by relevant officials and introduced with the players. He also had group photographs with them on this occasion. Punjab’s Sameer Khan grabbed gold medal in 59kg weight category. Faisal Ullah of KP took silver and Sindh’s Mohammad Ali got bronze medal in this competition. In the 64kg contest, Punjab’s Abdul Raheem clinched the gold medal, Noor Ahmed of Balochistan took silver while bronze went to Sindh’s Shaharyar. Punjab weightlifters dominated 49kg competition by winning gold and silver medals through Shayan Ali and Hamza Tariq respectively. M Fahad of Balochistan bagged bronze in this event. Punjab weightlifter Mohammad Ali Ghani got gold medal in 55kg contest while silver and bronze medals were won by KP’s Rafiullah and Sindh’s Wajih Ullah respectively. In Inter-Provincial Girls U-16 and Boys U-17 Hockey Tournament, Punjab boys team outplayed Balochistan by 8-0 on the second day at National Hockey Stadium on Thursday. Punjab boys dominated the proceedings right from the beginning. Punjab’s Hamza Fayaz, Ahmed Noor, Rana Waleed and M Ammad struck two field goals each for the triumphant team. Despite their best efforts, Balochistan team could not convert their efforts into goals. In the next encounter, Sindh boys’ hockey team scripted a 5-2 victory against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). M Adnan and Abdul Wahab of Sindh netted two goals each while Syed Saad Ali scored one goal. Hassan Ali and Mohammad Hassan were the goal scorers for KP team.  In U-16 Girls Hockey event, Punjab girls’ hockey team thrashed Sindh by 9-0 quite comfortably. Sharika Sarwar executed three goals, Saira Younis and Maleeha Younis scored two goals each while Mehak Rashid and Sehrish Kamal contributed one goal each for Punjab team. Punjab girls demonstrated excellent ball control throughout the match. They did not give their opponents enough space to make a goal-scoring move. In another match, KP girls defeated Balochistan by 4-0 margin. Adeeba Ali scored two goals while Nida Ali and Sawaira Kishwar made one goal each for the winning team.   

Sports Bulletin LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND (September 13, 2021): The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) has announced that the IWF World Weightlifting Championships and the IWF Electoral Congress would be taken place from December 7 to 17, 2021 Tashkent, Uzbekistan. “We already know for sure that the IWF Executive Board which follows the December elections will be very different to any that has gone before it, reflecting a more egalitarian culture that is also more clearly focused on the needs of weightlifters,” said IWF Interim President Dr Michael Irani. “This will follow on from clean weightlifting competitions at Tokyo 2020 and the adoption of completely revised governance measures in satisfying the criteria for success that were established for us by the IOC.” “Our friends in Tashkent have already proven themselves to be very capable organisers of important weightlifting events this year, and the IWF is deeply grateful both to them and to the others who had shown interest in hosting our events. The IWF is pleased to be able to deliver this measure of certainty around the 2021 IWF World Weightlifting Championships for all our athletes,” continued Irani. “And in this difficult year, with the effects of the pandemic still being felt, our main priority will continue to be ensuring safe and healthy conditions for all involved.” IWF official said.
