One hundred years later, in the same city where it all started, the ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships Finals London 2026 Presented by ACN came to a close at a sold-out OVO Arena Wembley, completing a centenary celebration that the sport will not forget in a hurry.China were crowned Men's Team and Women's Team champions, defeating Japan in both finals to lift the Swaythling Cup and Corbillon Cup for a record 24th time on each side of the draw. It was a conclusion worthy of the occasion, and one that underlined why China remain the benchmark in world table tennis. Japan claimed silver on both sides of the draw, their women's team pushing China to a deciding fifth match in a final that had OVO Arena Wembley on its feet.In the Men's event, France produced one of the performances of the tournament to reach the podium, sweeping aside Brazil in the quarterfinals before pushing China all the way in a gripping semifinal. Chinese Taipei were the other Men's Team semifinalists, their run to the last four including a stunning upset of top seeds Sweden that was one of the moments of the Championships.On the women's side, Germany claimed bronze after a campaign built on the brilliance of Sabine Winter, whose performances throughout the tournament underlined why she is the highest-ranked European woman in the world.Romania's run to the Women's Team podium was perhaps the most emotional story of London 2026, securing a medal in the Women's Team event for the first time in 26 years, with Bernadette Szocs leading from the front and her leap onto the table after sealing their semifinal win over France one of the defining images of the Championships.But the stories did not stop at the podium. A 127-point match between Denmark and Canada in the Round of 32, lasting over three hours, or Moldova surpassing their previous best finish in the Men's event, qualifying for the Main Draw and announcing themselves as a side with genuine ambitions for the future. Moments like these will be spoken about long after the trophies have been handed out. The final day brought its own special chapter. IOC President Kirsty Coventry visited OVO Arena Wembley, welcomed by ITTF President Petra Sörling. President Coventry exchanged rallies with Former Olympic champions Ma Long and Xu Xin and ITTF Athletes' Commission members Liu Shiwen, Elizabeta Samara and Paul Drinkhall before officially starting the final day's competition, pressing the button to get proceedings underway in front of a packed Wembley crowd. She later presented the Corbillon Cup to the Women's Team champions, a fitting role for the IOC President on a day that spoke to everything table tennis stands for.The Swaythling Cup, donated by Lady Swaythling for the very first World Championships in London in 1926 and lifted by every Men's Team champion since, was raised in this city once again. The Corbillon Cup, awarded to Women's Team champions since 1933, completed a centenary double for China. In the Veterans Men’s Singles category, Zafar Khan emerged victorious. The Mixed Doubles and Men’s Doubles events have now reached their final stage. The championship, organized by Ali Shan Table Tennis Club, is being held at the Sindh Sports Board Complex in Nazimabad. In the Boys U-19 final, Arham Bin Farukh defeated Mohammad Abbas in a thrilling 5-set match, winning 3–2. The set scores were 5–11, 6–11, 11–4, 11–5, and 11–8. In the Girls U-19 final, Sarah Danish overcame Anabia Siddiqui in another exciting contest, also winning 3–2. The scores were 10–12, 11–7, 11–8, 5–11, and 11–3.In the Veterans Singles final, Zafar Khan defeated Faisal Saqib 3–1, with scores of 11–5, 11–6, 10–12, and 11–3. In the Mixed Doubles semifinals, the pair of Hareem Anwar and Salman Raza beat Hoor Fawad and Arham Bin Farukh 3–2 to reach the final. Macao (Sports News):The ITTF Men's & Women's World Cup Macao 2026 reached its thrilling conclusion on Sunday at the Galaxy Arena, crowning two champions and delivering a final night worthy of the ITTF's centenary year.Sun Yingsha has done what no woman in the history of the sport has ever done before. The world number one defeated Wang Manyu 4-1 (11-9, 11-8, 13-11, 8-11, 11-7) in the Women's Singles final to claim an unprecedented third consecutive ITTF Women's World Cup title, joining Fan Zhendong as the only players in ITTF World Cup history to achieve three consecutive singles titles.This was an intense, absorbing final between two of the finest players in the Women's game, with Wang Manyu pushing Sun Yingsha hard in every game and refusing to make anything straightforward. In the end, it was Sun Yingsha's experience, composure and sheer class that proved the difference. The road to a third title was far from easy, highlighted by a seven-game quarterfinal against Hana Goda, the longest match of the entire tournament, in which Sun Yingsha was forced to save two match points in the deciding game before prevailing.Wang Manyu takes the silver medal, while Shin Yubin and Sabine Winter share the bronze. Shin Yubin made history as the first woman from Korea Republic ever to win a medal at the ITTF Women's World Cup, while Sabine Winter became the first European woman to medal at the ITTF Women's Singles World Cup since Petrissa Solja in 2015. Hana Goda, who became the first African woman ever to reach the quarterfinals of the ITTF Women's World Cup, leaves Macao, China having inspired a generation of players across the African continent.Wang Chuqin claimed the trophy he has long been chasing. The world number one defeated Sora Matsushima 4-3 (9-11, 18-16, 11-8, 11-13, 8-11, 11-4, 11-8) in a final of the highest order, played over one hour and thirteen minutes, to claim his first ever ITTF Men's World Cup title at his fourth appearance at this event.The match refused to follow a straight line. Sora Matsushima took the opening game, Wang Chuqin levelled in the second by battling all the way to 18-16, and the Japanese star continued to push, levelling again at 2-2 before Wang Chuqin found another gear when it mattered most to close out the deciding game. The road to the title saw Wang Chuqin come from 1-3 down against Darko Jorgic in the quarterfinals and defeat reigning champion Hugo Calderano 4-1 (11-7, 11-3, 11-7, 6-11, 12-10) in the semifinals. With the ITTF Men's World Cup title now secured, Wang Chuqin stands just one major title away from completing a career grand slam, with the Olympic men's singles gold medal the remaining prize ahead of LA 2028.Sora Matsushima takes the silver medal having become only the second Japanese player ever to reach the final of the ITTF Men's World Cup, following Tomokazu Harimoto's appearance in 2019. Islamabad (Sports News): The International Table Tennis Federation announced the creation of the ITTF Doubles World Cup, a landmark new competition approved by the ITTF Executive Board that will bring Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles and Mixed Doubles together on the world stage. The event will take place in 2027. The announcement means that every LA28 Olympic table tennis event now has an equivalent on the World Cup stage: the ITTF Men's and Women’s World Cup covering Singles, the ITTF Mixed Team World Cup, and now the ITTF Doubles World Cup spanning Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles and Mixed Doubles. At Los Angeles 2028, Men's Doubles and Women's Doubles will return to the Olympic programme for the first time since Athens 2004, joining Mixed Doubles, introduced at Tokyo 2020, to complete a full Doubles lineup. The ITTF Doubles World Cup is the sport's new premier doubles competition, giving the world's best doubles players a World Cup stage to call their own. "Doubles is returning to the Olympic Games, and the ITTF Doubles World Cup is how we rise to meet that moment, giving the world's best doubles players the World Cup stage they deserve, and building the pathway to Los Angeles. In our centenary year, we are not just celebrating 100 years of table tennis. We are building the next 100," commented Petra Sörling, ITTF President and IOC MemberThe momentum behind doubles table tennis has never been stronger. At the ITTF World Table Tennis Championships Finals 2025, the doubles events delivered some of the most memorable moments of the year. Sports ReportABBOTTABAD: Hazara Division is brimming with table tennis talent, but players urgently need proper facilities and professional guidance to reach their true potential, said table tennis coach Ibrahim Khan, while talking to the media during an ongoing summer training camp for junior table tennis players in Abbottabad.“Hazara has no shortage of passion and skill, but the players face significant challenges,” Ibrahim Khan said. “The biggest issue is the lack of a dedicated hall for table tennis in Abbottabad. Players are forced to share space with other sports, which affects their practice and focus. Every sport needs a separate facility so that athletes can train with full concentration,” he said.The coach revealed that 15 junior players are participating in the summer camp, including promising talents like Hanzala, Huzaifa, Hassan, Sufyan, Hamza, and Mah Noor. He added that with consistent training and proper opportunities, these youngsters could soon represent Pakistan at national and international levels.“All the players in this camp are hardworking and strictly following the instructions of their coaches, which proves that Hazara Division has immense potential for the growth of table tennis,” Ibrahim Khan remarked.He further urged the government and sports authorities to establish modern facilities, separate halls, and training centers for table tennis in Abbottabad and across Hazara Division. “Infrastructure plays a key role in the promotion of sports. If we take action today, these children’s achievements will become a source of pride for the country in the future,” he concluded.

Wah Cantt (Sports Report): The 30th National Junior Table Tennis Championship will kick off on July 11, 2025 at Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) Sports Complex in Wah Cantt under the banner of Islamabad Table Tennis Association (ITTA).The players from Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir will participate in the national junior table tennis fixture. The departmental teams of the WAPDA, Army, Railways, and NHA would also lock their horns to lift the title.
