Basketball: Pakistan overpower Bangladesh 84-64 to reach in semifinals
Zain (19), Mohammad Umair (19), and Abdul Wahab (11) earn points for Green ShirtsSports Bulletin ReportMale (Maldives):-Pakistan men’s basketball team outplayed Bangladesh 84-64 to win their last group match in the five-nation Basketball Tournament in Maldives on Sunday and Gren Shirts confirmed their berth in the semifinals after this big win.Pakistan dominated Bangladesh from the very first moment of the game scoring 20 points in the first quarter, as their opponents had 15 points. However, Bangladesh showed some resistance in the second quarter, taking a slight 37-34 lead. In the third quarter, Pakistan pushed Bangladesh against the wall as they only managed to score seven points while Pakistan scored 22 points to extend their lead to 56-44. Pakistan continued their dominance in the last quarter and won the match by 84-64 to secure a place in the semifinals.Pakistan’s Zain ul Hasan Khan and Mohammad Umair Jan scored 19 points each while Abdul Wahab scored 16 points, Ziaur Rahman 11 and Shehbaz Ali, Umeer and Zia scored three points each.

Basketball News: Pakistan beat Maldives 65-63 in 5-nation fixture
Sports Bulletin ReportMale (Maldives):-Pakistan overcame hosts Maldives by 65-63 in their second fixture of the five-nation International Basketball Tournament after a thrilling four-quarters contest here on Friday. Pakistan faced a defeat in the first match at the hands of Nepal.In the second match, the Pakistani player did well to overcome the hosts, as they were ahead 40-34 after halfway.  Zain-ul-Hasan was the top scorer with 22 while Zia-ur-Rehman and Emmad Ahmed were other major contributors with 15 and 13 points.

Basketball News: Pakistan squad arrive in Male for 5-nation fixture
Sports Bulletin ReportMale (Maldives):-Pakistan Basketball team arrived here on Wednesday to participate in the five-nation international basketball championship 2023, which is scheduled to be kicked off on June 15 in the capital city Male.Besides, hosts Maldives, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal will fight for the championship title. The top four teams will qualify for semifinals of the championship.Pakistan will play their first match against Nepal on June 15 while green shirts will be in action against host Maldives on June 16. Pakistan will play third league match against Bhutan on June 17 and will play his last match against Bangladesh on June 18. Basketball News: Federation Names Squad for 5-nation Fixture
Mohamad Shahbaz Ali to lead Pakistan in the international basketball championshipAbdul Jabbar FaisalISLAMABAD:-The four-man selection committee of Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) headed by Khalid Bashir named a 10-player squad for the upcoming 5-nation international basketball championship starting from June 15, 2023, in the Maldives. Col (Retd) Shujaat Ali Rana, Mohammad Riaz Malik, and Modood Jafri were members of the selection committee.According to an official of PBBF, after getting the official affiliation with Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) this year 2023, the top management of PBBF headed by Brig. (R) Mohamad Iftikhar Mansoor and Secretary General Khalid Bashir took vital steps to organize national events as well as send Pakistan teams abroad for international competitions. Besides Pakistan, Maldives, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal will take part in the five-nation fixture, which will be held from June 15 to 22, 2023 in Male, Maldives.Secretary PBBF Khalid Bashir said:“The five countries’ basketball event will be helpful for the Pakistan team to get good exposure, as our players will take part in an international competition after seven years. National Basketball: WAPDA and Army set to meet in final
Mohammad Azam Dar ISLAMABAD:-Defending champions Pakistan WAPDA and Pakistan Army set to meet in the final of the National Women’s Basketball Championship final after winning their respective semifinals at Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad. Final will be played on Friday at 6:00pm at the same venue. WAPDA, who are still unbeatable in the national championship, thrashed hosts Islamabad Blues in the first semifinal match 63-21points.  Winners were leading with 29 points at half time. Wapda ace player Sidra Hakim again led her side to a massive victory by scoring 14 points while Mehvish Nawaz scored 10 and Kainat Zafar scored 08 points. Saadat Jehangir, Tariq Nawaz and Naveed Ahmed supervised the semifinal match. Meanwhile, in the second semifinal, Pakistan Army outclassed Karachi by 66-15 points to reach in the final of the championship. Pakistan Army girls wearing red shirts were too strong against the visiting Karachi team who played well in the championship but failed to make an upset in the semifinal round as Army won the important match by the difference of 51 points.  Kashifa was the top scorer for Army who scored 15 points with Ayesha Khan 12 points while Referees Umar Mehmood,  Yasar Ghafoor and M Nadeem Ch along with  scorer M M Alam supervised the second semifinal match.  National Assembly Standing Committee Inter-Provincial Coordination(IPC) Chairman Nawab Sher Waseer along with Olympian Rana Mujhaid, Pakistan Basketball Federation Secretary Khalid Bashir, Championship organising secretary Ouj-e-Zahoor, DDG (Admn) PSB Mansoor Ahmed Khan Sherwani and others spectators also witnessed the championship semifinals. Eight teams Pakistan Wapda, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Islamabad whites, Pakistan Army, Lahore, Islamabad Blues and Peshawar are taking part in the five days championship which will be concluded on Friday (Today) under the umbrella of Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF).

The best-of-three playoff series opens on November 9
SPORTS DESK Islamabad (November 5, 2021):-The Doosan Bears won the Wild Card series and will face the LG Twins in the best-of-three semi-playoff series. The winner will face the Samsung Lions for a chance to challenge the regular season winners KT Wiz in the Korean Series. The KT Wiz topped the Samsung Lions, 1-0, in a tiebreaker game to win the regular season title of the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) league. The two clubs shared the same record (76 wins-59 losses, with 9 draws) after the 144-game regular season. As the league champions, the Wiz advance directly to the Korean Series finals, while the Lions will skip the first two rounds of the postseason and play in the playoff series to earn a chance to challenge the Wiz in the Korean Series. The KBO postseason opened on Monday, 1 November, with the Wild Card series between the fourth and fifth place teams. The fourth-place Doosan Bears started with a 1-0 advantage over the fifth-place Kiwoom Heroes. The Heroes forced a game 3, defeating the Bears, 7-4, in front of over 12,000 fans at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul. The Bears came back to win the rubber game, 16-8. The Doosan Bears will now play against the LG Twins in the semi-playoff series. The winner will advance to the playoff series against the Samsung Lions. The best-of-three playoff series opens on Tuesday, 9 November. The best-of-seven Korean Series opens on Sunday, 14 November. An eventual game seven is scheduled for Monday, 22 November. All games will be played at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul.

Tanner Houck beats Shane Baz in MLB pitching
News Desk ISLAMABAD (October 12, 2021):-The Olympic silver medalist Shane Baz made his first Major League Baseball (MLB) postseason start on Friday, 8 October. The 22-year old right-hander took the mound for the Tampa Bay Rays against the Boston Red Sox in game two of the American League Division Series. His outing didn't last long. Baz allowed three runs on six hits over 2.1 innings of work. Five more Rays pitchers couldn't handle the Boston lineup, and the Rox Sox earned a 14-6 win and tied the series to one. Baz made his MLB debut on 20 September, pitching five strong innings for the Rays against the Toronto Blue Jays. He earned the win and did even better against the Miami Marlins on 26 September, going 5.2 innings, striking out nine and earning another win.   Baz started for the United States in the Tokyo 2020 game against Japan on 2 August. He went 2.2 innings, allowing two runs on five hits. Japan beat the US 7-6 in 10 innings. Another international baseball alumnus made the headlines. Tanner Houck earned the win for the Boston Red Sox, pitching five strong innings out of the bullpen. The 25-year old right-hander allowed only one run on two hits while striking out five. "I definitely had little butterflies at first, but once I got out there and threw my warmup pitches, I felt like I was pretty comfortable," Houck told the MLB website. Houck started two games for fourth-place USA at the WBSC Premier12 2019. He allowed four earned runs on seven hits over 9.1 innings of work. One of the two hits off Houck was by replacement first baseman Ji-Man Choi. The 30-year old Korean slugger has spent his whole professional career in the United States. Nonetheless, he had his stint at international baseball, representing Korea in the U-12 and U-18 WBSC Baseball World Cups.

Heidenheim wins German national baseball championship
Sports Desk ISLAMABAD (October 11, 2021):-Heidenheim defeated the Bonn Capitals, 3-1, in the best-of-five final series. Veteran pitcher Enorbel Marquez earned MVP honours. The Heidenheim Heidekoepfe won the 2021 Bundesliga, the top league in German baseball. In the best-of-five final series, Heidenheim defeated the Bonn Capitals, three games to one, to claim their sixth overall German title. Heidenheim is now second In the all-time ranking, tied with the Paderborn Untouchables, behind the Tornados Mannheim (11 titles). They outscored Bonn in game four, 11-2, to claim the title. The Capitals avoided the sweep with an 8-3 win in the third game of the series. The winners met for the fifth consecutive time in the final series, with Heidenheim winning four of the five. Bonn only prevailed in 2018. Veteran left-hander Enorbel Marquez-Ramirez (Heidenheim) was named the MVP of the final series, while Drew Janssen (also Heidenheim) earned best pitcher's honours.
