Asian Taekwondo Open: Pakistan Shine in Poomsae with 16 golds

Abdullah AsjadISLAMABAD (PR): Pakistan’s taekwondo athletes have delivered an outstanding performance in the Poomsae event of the Combaxx 7th Asian Taekwondo Open, concluding the category with a total of 16 gold medals, 8 on the opening day and 8 more on the second day. 487 athletes confirmed for Asian Taekwondo Open Championships

Abdul Jabbar FaisalISLAMABAD: Around 487 athletes from 22 different Countries have confirmed their participation in the Combaxx 7th Asian Taekwondo Open Championships 2025, which will kick off on February 14 at the international sports arena Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad.According to an official of Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF), 487 athletes from 22 countries, including Pakistan, have registered to participate in the Combaxx 7th Asian Taekwondo Open Championships 2025. 110 athletes will show their game skill in the Poomsae fixture while 100 players will participate in Junior Kyorugi category competitions. 277 athletes of the region will fight for top honour in the Senior Kyorugi fixture.International martial arts event is scheduled to take place from February 14 to 20, 2025. This international championship marks a significant milestone in Pakistan's taekwondo history and represents a major step toward promoting the sport on the global stage.Registration for the championship remains open until 11th February 2025, providing a final opportunity for interested athletes to participate in this landmark event. Athletes from various countries have expressed their excitement to visit Pakistan, appreciating the country's renowned hospitality and looking forward to competing at a high level.

Kukkiwon Director Asia, Cholong Um Visits Taekwondo Federation Secretariat

Sports Bulletin ReportLAHORE: Cholong Um, Director Asia of Kukkiwon Headquarters, Korea visited Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF) office, as the top officials of federation welcomed her Secretariat Office here on Monday.During her visit, she engaged in discussions with Lt. Col. (Retd) Raja Waseem Ahmed Janjua, President of PTF, Najam Siddiqui, Director International Affairs, and Mehraj Aslam, Director Kukkiwon Affairs of PTF, focusing on Kukkiwon-related matters.Cholong Um commended the Pakistan Taekwondo Federation for its dedicated efforts in managing the Kukkiwon Dan Promotion Tests and the issuance of Dan Certifications to Black Belt holders. She also toured the Kukkiwon Headquarters office currently being established within the PTF Secretariat.A ceremony was held to exchange souvenirs between both organizations, marking the occasion with respect and mutual appreciation. In attendance were notable figures, including Master Khalil Jabran, Korean Master Choi, and Syed Sadaqat Hussain, Executive Member of PTF.This visit further strengthens the ties between Kukkiwon and the Pakistan Taekwondo Federation, reflecting a shared commitment to the promotion of Taekwondo in Pakistan.

Asian Taekwondo: Ikhtshamul wins Silver, Maleeha lifts Bronze

Sports Bulletin ReportTangerang (Indonesia): Pakistani male athlete Ikhtshamul Haq clinched a silver medal while female player Maleeha Ali bagged the bronze medal in the 6th Asian Taekwondo Open Championship 2024 in Tangerang, Indonesia.In the (-87 kg) final, Malaysia's Zubair defeated Pakistan's Ikhtshamul Haque by 5-7 and 7-12 points. Whereas, Ikhtsham-ul-Haq won the Silver Medal by defeating 13-10 and 10-0 against Azhar Salim of Indonesia. KASSANOV Izyat defeated Pakistan's Arbaz Khan 2-1. Arbaz Khan won the first round 8-6, but Izyat bounced back to win the second round 9-7 and the third round 7-19. Qualified for the semi-finals in the women's -73 category in the semi-finals, Korea's Shin Jeongeun beat Pakistan's Maleeha Ali 3-0 and 4-1 to make it to the final in the women's -57 category in the Philippines. Mc CANN Nicole won by 3-5 and 7-5 margin against Pakistan's Noor Fatima.

PTF launches WT Cares Taekwondo Program for 2024-2025

ISLAMABAD (PR): Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF) has launched the WT Cares Taekwondo at different schools including Iram Model School Kahuta, Islamabad Model School for Girls F-6/1, and Hader-i-Qarar Taekwondo Academy, Gulberg, Islamabad.According to an official of PTF, the program is designed specifically for orphaned and underprivileged children, providing them with free training, equipment, and uniforms. Participants will receive expert coaching under the supervision of trained professionals.Previously, the WT Cares program, conducted under the auspices of the Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF), achieved remarkable success, as the four players including two females and two males secured prominent positions at the 16th Korean Ambassador Cup 2024.The WT Cares program is a collaborative effort between the PTF and World Taekwondo Korea, aiming to promote self-defense and a love for taekwondo among youth. At F-6/1 model school for girls, the chief guest was the principal of this School, however, Jalal Hyder, Secretary of Finance, and Najia Rasool, Deputy Secretary General PTF were the guest of honours.

Pakistani players arrive in Indonesia to participate in Asian Open Kyorugi Taekwondo Championship

Sports Bulletin ReportTangerang (Indonesia): A 16-member taekwondo squad of Pakistan has arrived in Indonesia to participate in the 6th Asian Open Kyorugi Taekwondo Championship played in Tangerang, Indonesia. The event will be played from October 15 to 18 at the Indore Stadium Sports Center. More than 275 athletes from other Asian countries including India, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Philippines, Malaysia, Nepal and the host Indonesia will be in action. Among the male players of the natinal squad are Haroon Khan (-58 kg) Numan Khan (-63 kg) Saud Alam (-63 kg) Muhammad Arbaz Khan (-68 kg) Mazhar Abbas (-80 kg) Ikhtsham-ul-Haq (-87 kg) and Hamza Omar Saeed (+87 kg) ) while the names of Noor Rahman (-57 kg), Maleeha Ali (-73 kg), and Manisha Ali (+73 kg ) are included in the women's team.Lieutenant Colonel Zeeshan Aslam is the head of the team, Master Yusuf Karami is the head coach, Syed Sadaqat Hussain is manager and Faisal Nadeem Butt is the physio of the team.The national players have started their training session in the indoor stadium under the supervision of the head coach Master Yusuf Karami.Hamza Saeed, who will participate in the +87 kg weight category in the competition, has said that a lot of preparation has been done for the championship. During the event, there will also be an opportunity to discuss with our contemporaries and professional coaches from other countries, which will be beneficial for us in the future. - 57 kg female taekwondo player Noor Rehman says that she will not take any fight lightly and present good news to the nation by winning medals for Pakistan.

Islamabad to host Asian Open Taekwondo Championship in February 2025

Sports Bulletin ReportISLAMABAD: The capital city Islamabad will host the 7th Asian Open Taekwondo Championship in February 2025 at Pakistan Sports Complex under the control of Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF).According to president PTF Col (Retd) Raja Wasim Ahmed, who attended the World Taekwondo General Assembly that took place on September 30, 2024 in South Korea during the World Taekwondo Junior Championship, held from September 2 to 6 Oct 2024 at Korea informed the house regarding the conduct modalities of 7th Asian Open Taekwondo Championship in Islamabad, Pakistan.The elections for the Commonwealth Taekwondo Union were held on 1st October 2024 at Korea, as Raja Wasim Ahmed Janjua contested in the elections and was successfully elected as a Council Member .After the conclusion of both events, the World Junior Taekwondo mega event was started in which three Pakistani athletes including Rayhaan Khan (Athlete, M-55 kg), Mohammad Hadi Ejaz (Athlete, M-59 kg), and Hanna Alice Siddiqui (Athlete, W-68 kg) participated in the competitions.On 5th Oct 2024 (first day of the event Hannah Siddiqui won the first match against Serbia and lost in round of 16 against Holland. Rayyan Khan lost to 2nd match against Mexico. On Second day of the event, Hanna Siddiqui won her first fight against Serbia and lost in Quarterfinals.
