Ali Zafar KARACHI:-The 1st Combaxx Sindh Taekwondo Poomsae Course & Training Program will commence from April 14, 2022 at the Sindh Sports Board Complex, Nazimabad Karachi. According to an official, the 8-day long course will be conducted by internationally reputed 5th Dan Korean Master SEONG OH CHOI Kukkiwon 5th Dan/Kukkiwon, who has been especially invited to conduct this course in Karachi.  Around 50 athletes and 15+ Coaches/Referees from all over Sindh will take part in the course, as it is a certified course conducted by internationally reputed Korean Master, the players will be imparted important and modern skills of the game. The participants will be given certificates at the conclusion of this extensive course. The President of Sindh Taekwondo Association Kamran Qamar has thanked to Col Waseem Janjua President Pakistan Taekwondo Federation and Omar Saeed CEO PTF &  Combaxx Sports for all the support, collaboration and supervision. He termed this course as unique opportunities for players from across the province and said since Taekwondo is a recognized Olympic Sport, it is not provides opportunity to bring laurels for the country at national and international level but  this sports also builds strength, stamina and flexibility, it greatly improves ones overall fitness and well-being.

Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD:-Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF) has re-elected Lt Col (Retd) Raja Wasim Ahmed Janjua as its president for the next four years term, as the election of the federation held at 255, R A Bazar, Rawalpindi Cantt at Physical and Zoom Modes. The local residents of twin cities Rawalpindi and Islamabad physically attended the meeting at PTF Secretariat while Rizwan Ul Haq Razi, Associate Secretary of Pakistan Olympic Association attended the meeting on Zoom Mode as observer. The representatives of World Taekwondo Federation, Asian Taekwondo Union and Kukkiwon Headquarters, Seoul Korea also monitored the process. Khurram Shahzad ISLAMABAD:-President, Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF), Col (Retd) Waseem Ahmad Janjua has revealed that PTF gets Rs. 2 million grant from Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) once a year, as this amount is not enough to run the affairs of federation. While talking to this scribe during an exclusive sitting ex-army man added that without sponsorship sports could not be moved ahead at national and international level. “However, the taekwondo federation does a lot for the players to give them maximum national and international exposure and other support like equipment helmets, safeguards and gloves, which are vital for players to learn the basic skills of martial art, “he said. Wasim Janjua further said that he was appointed as manager with Pakistan Taekwondo Federation during the 9th South Asian Games 2004, which took place in Islamabad. “Later on, Brigadier Arif Siddiqui and General Arif Hassan guided me and I got the responsibilities as the secretary of the Pakistan Taekwondo Federation, “he further said. Responding to a question he said, “Pakistan joined the World Taekwondo Federation in 1977 after that PTF registered with the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) and Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) in 1982. When I joined the Pakistan Taekwondo Federation, the conditions of the game were very bad. No one was serious with taekwondo. I did not give up and continued to work hard. Today, by the grace of Allah, PTF is the only federation in Pakistan that has won a bronze medal in the Olympic Qualifying Round and our athletes have achieved great success in international competitions, “he said. “I had the opportunity to attend a course in the United States in 2016 during which my thesis was "Promotion and Development of Taekwondo at Grass Root Level". It was a great experience. After completing the 45-day course, I worked for the promotion of this sport from the grass root level in the country. The development of any sport is not possible until this sport is started from the grass root level. PTF organized the competitions at Under 7,9,12,15,17,20 age group level, “he added. Waseem Janjua, while replying another question, said, “There are about 100 clubs registered with us in the country which are present in all the provinces. They bear their own expenses while the federation also provides food including Traveling Allowance (TA) and Daily Allowance (DA) for participation in the national and international events. We also provide helmets, gloves and jackets. There are 213 countries registered with the World Taekwondo Federation from all over the world. Asia has the best taekwondo players in the world in which Iran is number one. Taekwondo is an Olympic sport and Pakistan has not yet qualified for the Olympics but a Pakistani athlete won a bronze medal in the Olympic qualifying round. According to the rules, gold and silver medal winning athletes qualify for the Olympics, “he concluded.

Ayaz Raza Afridi PESHAWAR (January 3, 2022):-Pakistan Army claimed the Men’s title with 7 gold while WAPDA lifted the women’s title with 6 gold medals in the 27th Men's and 10th Women's National Judo Championships that held Lala Rafique Sports Arena Peshawar on Monday. Pakistan Army grabbed seven gold medals and one silver medal in the individual event of the Men while HEC claimed two golds, two silvers and two bronze medals, WAPDA won one gold and three bronze medals and Navy came at fourth with two silver and three bronze medals. Balochistan won two silver and one bronze medal at 5th, Railways and Punjab got 6th position while KP-A of the merged areas took seventh positon and, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa took 8th, Police got 9th, Islamabad, Sindh, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan remained 10th position. Pakistan WAPDA won six gold medals Pakistan Army with two gold and two silver medals in the 10th Women event by taking the trophy, Punjab with three silver and three bronze medals took third position, HEC with three silver and two bronze medals got fourth position, Navy with four bronze medals, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with three silver and sixth bronze medals took sixth positon and, Balochistan got seventh, KP-A took eighth, Azad Jammu and Kashmir ninth, Gilgit-Baltistan, Police, Islamabad, Railways and Sindh 10th position. Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD (December 27, 2021):-Khyber Pakhtunkawa athletes have won the title of the 2nd IGFC National Taekwondo Championship 2021 with 9 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze medals that concluded in District Tank on Monday. Gilgit Bultistan claimed second position with 3 gold and 5 bronzes while Waziristan got third position with 2 gold, 3 silver and 6 bronzes medals during the three-day top taekwondo fixture. As many 144 players from all over the country took part in the competition and 126 bouts were held in different weight categories. At the closing ceremony, Commissioner Dera Ismail Khan Khan, Aamir Latif, RPO D I Khan Soukat Abbas and Col Sher Alam graced as chief guests and distributed the prizes among the top players. Tank, KPK (SB Report):-Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF) will host the 2nd IGFC National Taekwondo Championship in District Tank, as top national players from all provinces including Gulgit Baltistan (GB), Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK), Islamabad and a local team of Dera Ismail Khan Division will take part in the top national fixture. According to an official of PTF, Pakistan Army will also be featuring in the 3-day event, which is going to be started from December 25, 2021 at Tank District under the supervision and umbrella of IGFC (South KPK). Commenting on the preparations of the event, President Pakistan Taekwondo Federation Lt Col (Retd) Waseem Ahmed, apprised that NSF would try her level best in sincere spirit and genuine warmth in our Beautiful District Tank” to conduct this event. He emphasized that such event would be beneficial for the professional development of our officials and athletes. These events improve the organizational skills of National Sports Federations, ultimately creating a better image of the beloved country. He added that he would also like to mention here the support being given by IGFC Staff and his office, not only in encouraging the proposal in initial stage but also by providing assistance so that better ties can be developed with our main provincial stakeholders. The conduct of this event is also made possible with the keen interest of Brigadier Naiknam Mohammad Baig, Commander Sector South, Frontier Corps (South) KP. Last but not the least, I must acknowledge and appreciate the whole hearted support provided by the South Asian President and CEO Combaxx Sports Omar Saeed as sponsors plays a vital role in facilitating the event. In three days event, more than 200 Officials and athletes will participate in this championship. Our International and National Referees will be there to conduct this event in befitting manners. Peshawar (Sports Report):-The Secretary General of Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF), Mansoor Ahmed said that Pakistan Judo Federation in collaboration with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judo Association, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Directorate and Pakistan Sports Board would staged the 27th Men and 10th Women National Judo Championships from December 31, 2021 January 3, 2022 at Qayyum Stadium Peshawar. As many as 14 teams including Khyber PakhtunKawa (KPK), Punjab, Sindh, Baluchistan, Islamabad, Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA), Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Pakistan Army, WAPDA, Railway, Police, Navy and Higher Education Commission (HEC) will participate in the championships. Pakistan Army will defend their title. It is pertinent to mention that two overseas Pakistani Judokas have also arrived here to display their skills in this championship. Japan based Olympian Shah Hussain Shah, who is Asian bronze medalist, commonwealth games silver medalist South Asian triple gold medalist besides the current National champion will play to defend his title. He is the son of our National Pride Hussain Shah, Olympic bronze medalist. Shah had qualified for Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 and became ever first Pakistani Judoka to achieve this mark. He is also eyeing for Paris 2024. Another enthusiastic Japan based 22 year old young girl Amina Toyoda will be featuring for the National Event. Both Judokas will show their game skill on opening day of the championship on 31st Dec 2021 representing Pakistan Army. Secretary Sports and Tourism of KPK will grace the occasion as chief guest. The Championship of men will be held in 10 weights while the championship of women will be held in 8 different weight categories as per the details given below: Weight Categories: Men: -50 Kg-55 Kg, -60 Kg, -66 Kg, -73 Kg, -81 Kg, -90 Kg, -100 Kg ,+100 Kg & Open Weight. Abu Dhabi (SB Report):-Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Judo concluded, as the players displayed excellent skills of game to win the position in the international judo showpiece. Results: -90kg Russia Sets the Pace Russia’s Mansur Lorsanov had the merit of eliminating the first seed, Uzbek Davlat Bobonov and consolidating Russian dominance in the last tournament of the season. He did it in an unprecedented way, for the first time with poise, like wanting to say that he has come to stay. For his part, Tajikistan’s Kmoronshokh Ustopiriyon had not played for a medal since the dawn of time. At 28 it seemed that his limit was the first rounds, but in Abu Dhabi he managed to separate all his opponents and get into the fight for gold in his own right.  However, in the final he had two problems. The first was the excellent kumi-kata of the Russian who nullified his strategy, if he had one. The second was his own inaction, which earned him a hansoku-make and the truth is that it was a shame because it was his first final in 19 appearances in grand slams. For the Russian, gold was a triumphant entry into the world of the elderly. The same is true in Britain, where there is a new group of young women who are gaining ground and pushing back the old guard. To this point Natalie Powell was the best Brit at -78kg. In Abu Dhabi Emma Reid displaced her compatriot to contest the gold against Boehm. They are two judoka with similar styles, good technically and with Reid superior in ne-waza. In the golden score period Boehm attacked but the British reacted explosively, nullifying the counterattack with a movement that could be considered as ko-uchi-gari with an unorthodox grip, using a change of direction. We are sure of a few things: it was quick and nice and it was worth a gold medal for Reid and spoke to us right after the final. “I was nervous at the beginning, as I usually am before competitions, but today I felt more structured in my fights. It is true that Adamian was the favourite, but it is no less true that he had to face Belgian Toma Nikiforov, who has been on the rise since he recovered from a serious injury. Nikiforov may be fearsome, but today Adamian is out of Nikiforov’s reach. A special mention for Kanikovskiy because he got rid of the French Alezandre Iddir, the Dutch Michael Korrel and the Canadian Shady Elnahas, that is, the past, present and future of judo. None of them could stop the Russian. Adamian dominated and baby-faced Kanikovskiy fought back until he couldn't take it anymore and suffered in his flesh that which began as ko-soto-gake and ended as ura-nage. Adamian ends the year with three consecutive victories, in Zagreb, Paris and Abu Dhabi and the leadership of the category. He is only 24 years old and he is already a prodigious judoka. “I had to win this medal. I couldn’t take part in the Olympics and I had to prove that I should continue towards the next Games. I won the last three tournaments I took part in and I will work hard to be in Paris in 2024,” declared Adamian.
