Atif Rana, VC applaud IBIT students’ passion at Sports Festival 2026
Lahore (PR): The closing ceremony of the IBIT Sports Festival 2026 was held with great enthusiasm and splendour at University of the Punjab, bringing together senior academic leadership, distinguished guests, and an energetic gathering of students. The ceremony was attended by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ali, Dean Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mumtaz, Director IBIT Dr. Asim, and senior faculty member Prof. Shahid Zia. The esteemed guests distributed honorary shields among members of the IBIT society in recognition of their outstanding services and dedicated efforts. Among the recipients was Society President Hamza Wattoo, whose leadership and contributions were particularly appreciated. The occasion was further elevated by the presence of Lahore Qalandars CEO Atif Rana, who graced the event as a special guest, along with President of Pakistan Martial Arts Association (PMAA) Anwar Mohiuddin and Senior Journalist Azhar Masood as guests of honour.  Addressing the students, he praised their exceptional passion and enthusiasm. “I have attended many annual sports days at different institutions, but the passion and enthusiasm that I have seen and felt here at IBIT, Punjab University, I have seen nowhere else,” he remarked. “These students truly reflect the spirit of Qalandars. I hope this Qalandars spirit, combined with pure determination, dedication, and hard work, will help them excel in their future endeavours and succeed in every walk of life.” Atif Rana, along with Anwar Mohiuddin and Azhar Masood, distributed trophies and medals among the winning teams and outstanding performers. In a generous gesture that further energized the gathering, he announced the provision of Pakistan Super League (PSL) match tickets and sports kits for IBIT students, drawing loud applause from the audience. The festival featured a wide range of sporting competitions, including cricket, badminton, volleyball, football, and several other athletic contests. The event not only highlighted athletic excellence but also promoted teamwork, discipline, and leadership among participants. Speaking on the occasion, Anwar Mohiuddin emphasised the importance of self-defence training among youth. “Self-defence can be learned through passion, and the passion that IBIT students possess is the most essential ingredient to mastering these skills. With proper guidance and structured workshops, these students can emerge as some of the finest self-defence athletes.”
AHC-JCA School Girls’ Cricket Cup: Ismail School players retain title
Sports Bulletin ReportKARACHI: Ismail Girls’ School players retained their title after winning the 5th Australian High Commission (AHC)-Jalaluddin Cricket Academy (JCA) Girls’ School Cricket Cup 2025, which was held at National Stadium Karachi.As many as 60 girls from four schools participated in the tournament. The tournament followed a two-week coaching clinic organised in collaboration with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA).Pakistan women’s team Player Kainat Imtiaz, and former captain national men’s team Javed Miandad, and Mushtaq Ahmed shared their experience and leadership skills with girls from the Ismail Academy, Nasra Public School, Greenland Schools, and Happy Home Orphanage.During the tournament members of Australia’s visiting Over-40s Cricket Team also worked with the girls to build confidence, foster teamwork, and develop leadership skills. “Australia’s continued support for girls’ cricket in Pakistan promotes gender equality, diversity and inclusion, and empowers girls through access to sport,” said Australian High Commission First Secretary Jordan Hartas. “We started in 2016 with an annual tournament in Islamabad and have since expanded to Lahore and Karachi. Australia and Pakistan share a passion for cricket, and the Australian High Commission is pleased to support initiatives that break barriers and create opportunities for girls to thrive across Pakistan, he concluded.”

ILT20 Schools Cup: Cambridge High School Abu Dhabi win final
Sports Bulletin ReportDubai (UAE): Cambridge High School Abu Dhabi emerged victorious in the DP World ILT20 Schools Cup 2024, claiming the championship with a thrilling six-run win over Gems Modern Academy, Dubai. The closely contested final at the ICC Academy, marked a fitting highlight for day one of the DP World ILT20 Junior Cricket Festival. Put in first, Cambridge High School Abu Dhabi posted 157/2 in 20 overs. Openers Prithvi Madhu and Yayin Kiran set the tone, scoring half centuries of 65 and 58 runs respectively. In the death overs, Ishaan Sujay Rai contributed a vital knock of 15 runs in just five balls. In response, Gems Modern Academy, Dubai fell short of the target to finish at 151/8 in 20 overs. Aryan Thapar top scored with 47 runs, while Sanjith Ram and Jaidev Gattani also made contributions of 26 and 24 runs respectively. Yayin Kiran Rai was lethal with the ball as well, picking up two wickets for 24 runs. Notably, the innings would see as many as four run outs. 
Karachi Grammar School athletes win Sindh Swimming Championship
Sports Bulletin ReportKARACHI: Karachi Grammar School athletes have won the title 61st Sindh Swimming Championship during the 2-day festival of the Naya Nazimabad Sindh Open and Boys Age Group Swimming competitions held under the banner of the Sindh Swimming Association.Once again the swimmers of Karachi Grammar School dominated the competitions held at the newly constructed beautiful swimming pool of Naya Nazimabad. Karachi Grammar School team won the championship trophy with 1,462 points. Karachi Club secured the second position with 488 points and Bay View School got the third position with 481 points. More than three hundred swimmers from eighteen institutions from across Sindh participated in the event.Special guest Chief Executive Officer Javadan Corporation Limited Abdul Samad Habib distributed the prizes among the players. President Naya Nazimabad Gymkhana Syed Mohammad Talha, President of Sindh Swimming Association Colonel Saeed Ahmed Khan, Secretary Izhar ul Haq, Member of Pakistan Olympic Association Veena Masood, Manager Sports Mohammad Asif and a large number of citizens were also present on this occasion.

Peshawar Division “Sports Festival” to organize in women's colleges
Ghani Ur RehmanPESHAWAR: The Higher Education Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Peshawar Division has decided to organize a women's sports festival at the college level in a comprehensive way aiming to provide an opportunity for talented women to excel and the national level as well as international level.Regarding the organization of the Sports Festival” an extraordinary meeting was held yesterday at Government Girls Degree College Zaryab Colony Peshawar, which was presided over by President of Sports Committee and Principal of Girls Degree College Zaryab Colony Nehayat Saif. Arshad Hussain Deputy Director of Sports Higher Education Department, Roshan Zahra Principal Frontier, College for Women, Dr. Prof. Tahira Dar Principal City Girls Degree College Gulbehar, Sports Lecturers Najma Naz Qazi, Ruhina Tabasum, Sadia, Hijab, Gul Sanobar Ikhlas and Noor Haya, principals and teachers of 24 different colleges participated in the meeting.It is decided that female colleges, cricket, and athletics competitions will be held at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University while Badminton competition will be held at Girls College Charsadda No.1, Volleyball event will be held at Tajo Bibi Charsadda Degree College, Table Tennis will be held at Bacha Khan Girls College, Netball and Basketball competitions will be held at City Girls College. In Gulbahar, Handball Frontier College, Throwball Gulshan Rahman College, and Tchoukball Tournament will be played in Girls College Nahaqi. Similarly, Asian-style Kabaddi has been included in women's sports for the first time. Various committees have been formed for the better organization of these competitions, for which the principal of Government City Girls College Gulbehar Professor Tahira Dar is the president of the sports committee, Najma Naz Qazi is the secretary, the executive committee is the principal Nehayat Saif, Roshan Zahra, Noor Haya, Shaista Shakeela, and Gul Sanobar Ikhlas, while the technical committee includes Gul Sanobar Ikhlas, Sadia, Amna, Afsheen Gul, Shah Gulon, and Najma Naz Qazi. The final date for these competitions will be announced soon. 
Over 100 boys and girls participate in self-defence training camp
Sports Bulletin ReportLAHORE: Sports Board Punjab’s expert coaches, as per directions of Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail, continued to train young athletes in different games in Summer Camps being organised at Nishtar Park Sports Complex on Monday.Hundreds of boys and girls took part in wushu, karate, taekwondo, self-defence and badminton summer camps on Monday under the supervision of qualified coaches. Director Youth Affairs Syed Umair Hassan also visited Nishtar Park Sports Complex and witnessed the proceedings of different summer camps.Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail in a statement on Monday directed the coaches and trainers to put special emphasis on the physical and mental fitness and diet of young athletes during the summer camps. “Top level fitness always plays a key role in the success of players in their respective games,” he added.Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail said that these mega summer camps are being conducted with an aim to engage thousands of young boys and girls in healthy sports activities during their summer vacations. “Holding of summer camps is the best way to save our younger generation from the negative effects of mobile phones and electronic gadgets,” he maintained.
Frontier College’s athletes reach on top in women's sports competitions
Ghani-ur-RehmanPESHAWAR:-Frontier College for Women reached on top in the field of sports, as the athletes produced showed excellent performance in the different sports disciplines to lift the trophy while Government Girls Bacha Khan College won silver and the students of Government Girls Degree College Tangi Charsadda won the bronze medal.Special guest, Zobia Khan of the Higher Education Department gave away the prizes in the closing ceremony. Frontier College was also the winner in the handball event, City Girls Degree College Gulbahar won the second position and Bacha Khan Girls College won the third position. Girls Degree College Nahqi Peshawar was second and Bacha Khan Girls College was third. In the final of the table tennis tournament, the students of Frontier College won the trophy by defeating City Girls Degree College Gulbahar, while Girls College Bacha Khan got the third position. In the event, City Girls College Gulbehar won the gold medal while Frontier College won the silver and Bacha Khan Girls College won the bronze medal. Similarly, in basketball, Frontier College won the gold medal, City Girls College Gulbehar won the silver medal and Bacha Khan Girls College won the bronze medal. The women's football tournament was won by Frontier College, while City Girls College Gulbehar was second while Govt. Girls College Nahqi stood third. Similarly, in the netball event, Frontier College for Girls won the gold medal, while City Girls College Gulbehar and Bacha Khan Girls College Baaltar Teb stood second and third respectively. Deputy Director of Higher Education Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Arshad Hussain, Principal of Frontier College Roshan Zahra, Director of Sports Gul Sanobar Ikhlas, Principal of City Girls College Professor Tahira Dar, Director of Sports Sadia Bibi of Nahqi Girls College, and Najma Naz Qazi of City College Gulbehar were also present in the prize distribution ceremony. 
HHS Inter-School Staff Cricket Tournament to start on May 6, 2023
Sports Bulletin Report KARACHI: The HHS inter-school staff cricket tournament will start on May 6, 2023, at UBL Sports Complex Karachi. According to an official of HHS, the 75th HHS inter-school staff cricket tournament will be organized by the HHS school system next month, as the top six teams will fight for top honour including the HHS School system, Foundation Public School, Alfa Education Network, Bay View Academy, Generation School, and Nasra School.
