PJF celebrates World Judo Day on October 28

ISLAMABAD (October 29, 2021):-Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) celebrated the World Judo Day on October 28, along with holding the 9th Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inter-District Judo Championship that held Lala Rafique Sports Arena on Thursday under the aegis of District Government and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judo Association.

Former Sports Minister and Senior Vice President Pakistan Olympic Association Syed Aqil Shah was the chief guest on this occasion. President Sports Writers Association KP Ijaz Ahmad Khan, District Sports Officer Tehseen Ullah Khan, Administrator Peshawar Sports Complex Syed Jaffar Shah, Vice President Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) Masood Ahmad, officials, players were also present during the World Judo Day celebration falling on October 28 with a theme “Solidarity”.

“We have proven that with unity and solidarity, we can overcome any obstacles, '' Syed Aqil Shah in his address to the ceremony said. Whether individually or as a team, judokas worldwide proved that solidarity is not just a notion, Aqil Shah added.

Earlier, in connection with World Judo Day, the KP Inter-District Women and Men Judo Championship was organized jointly by District Sports Officer Peshawar, PJF wherein Lakki Marwat won Women title by winning three gold medals and three silver medal, Peshawar took second with one gold, three silver medal and Abbottabad got one gold, one silver and two bronze medals.

In the Men's, Peshawar won the title with three gold medals, one silver and two bronze medals, followed by Charsadda with two gold and two silver medals and Khyber took three silver and one bronze medal.

In the Peshawar took first position, followed by Charsadda with two gold medal and as many silver medals, Malakand took third position with two gold medal and one bronze medal. Nowshera and Mardan took one silver medal each while Khyber took three silver medals and one bronze medal, Bajaur took two bronze medals.

In the Women Lakki took, Peshawar and Abbottabad took first, second and third position respectively while Kohat with one gold and one silver took fourth position and Mansehra took fifth position by winning two bronze medals.

In the -40kg weight of the Women Category, Haseen of Kohat won gold medal, followed by Urooj of Abbottabad and Nosheen of Mansehra, in the -44kg Umaria of Peshawar won gold medal, followed by Asfa of Lakki and Sana of Abbottabad, in the -48kg Nusrat of Lakki won gold medal, followed by Sadaf Riaz of Peshawar and Fiza of Kohat, in the -52kg Malika of Lakki Marwat won gold medal, followed by Adiha of Peshawar, in the -57kg Komal of Lakki Marwat won gold medal, Fatima of Mansehra and Ambar of  Abbottabad, in -63kg Asmat of Abbottabad won gold medal, followed by Guldasta of Lakki Marwat and Aysia of Mansehra.

-90kg Jawad Peshawar, Nadeem Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Hamza Khyber

As per the directions of Pakistan Judo Federation, all its units celebrated the day and cutting cakes.

1)   Islamabad Judo Association was very much excited to celebrate that moment. IJA, along with its senior coach Imran Durrani, organized the event in which the school students participated too and cut the cake. They Celebrate World Judo Day 2021 in Different Areas in Islamabad. He said that as a family we will celebrate all events with IJF. At the last, they distribute the certificate among the participants. At this moment South Asian Gold Medalist Hamid Ali also was there.

2)   On the instructions of PJF, Sindh Judo Association organized an event at World Judo Day at Gymnasium Sir Syed University Karachi. The Registrar of the University Commodore (Retd) Syed Sarfarz Ali and Secretary of Sindh Judo Association Mohammad Rafique and all their Judokas participated in the event. A lot of male and female Judokas took part enthusiastically in the celebration of Judo World day.

3) Punjab Judo Association Organized 32th Punjab Inter District Judo Championship on the day of World Judo Day Asif Iqbal President and Qamer Shakeel of Punjab Judo Association was present at the occasion and cut the cake.

4) In Faisalabad, the day was celebrated by Faisalabad Judo Association by organizing Judo Championship and cut the cake. A lot of male and female Judokas took part enthusiastically in the celebration of Judo World day. The players were informed about Judo's history on this occasion.
