Sports Bulletin ReportLAHORE: FG Polo Team clinched a decisive 8-5 victory against DS Polo Team in the opening match of the Bank Alfalah National Open Polo Championship for the Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup 2024 held here on Tuesday at the Lahore Polo Club, marked the commencement of this year's premier tournament.The event attracted a considerable audience, with Lahore Polo Club President Malik Azam Hayat Noon, members of the executive committee, the secretary Lt Col (R) Aamir Umar, and numerous families in attendance, all watched and enjoyed the high-caliber polo action on display.FG Polo's performance was highlighted by the exceptional play of their seven-goal Argentinean star, Raul Laplacette, whose skillful handling of both mallet and polo pony captivated the audience. Laplacette was instrumental in the team's success, scoring five impressive goals. His teammates, Andres Llorente and Mian Abbas Mukhtar, also made significant contributions, with Llorente scoring twice and Mukhtar adding one goal to the tally. On the opposing side, DS Polo's English talent, Maxwell Charlton, single-handedly matched FG Polo's intensity by netting all five of his team's goals.The match began with FG Polo quickly establishing a lead through a successful 30-yard penalty conversion. However, DS Polo responded in kind, leveling the score 1-1 with a 30-yard penalty of their own. FG Polo managed to edge ahead with a field goal just before the first chukker ended, securing a 2-1 lead. The second chukker saw both teams exchanging goals, maintaining FG Polo's slender 3-2 lead.As the match progressed into the third chukker, FG Polo extended their lead with two additional goals, while DS Polo managed a single goal in response. Despite DS Polo narrowing the gap to 4-5 with a 60-yard penalty at the start of the fourth chukker, FG Polo unleashed a flurry of three consecutive goals to solidify their dominance at 8-4. A late penalty conversion by DS Polo brought the final score to 8-5, but it was not enough to overturn FG Polo's commanding lead.The match was officiated by field umpires Mark Homes and Abdul Sattar Khan Niazi, with Martin Gandara serving as the match referee. The championship continues with Diamond Paints/Master Paints facing off against Olympia/AZB Polo in what promises to be another captivating match at the Lahore Polo Club.

Sports Bulletin ReportLAHORE: The Bank Alfalah National Open Polo Championship for Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup 2024 will get underway on Tuesday (February 13) at the Lahore Polo Club, marking the beginning of two weeks filled with thrilling polo action.The announcement was made by Malik Azam Hayat Noon, President of the Lahore Polo Club, alongside Syed Irfan Akhtar Gilani, General Manager Central East of Bank Alfalah, and key members of the LPC executive committee, including Mohamed Nasir Khan and Feroze Gulzar. The event has attracted a mix of international and local talent, including players and umpires, signaling a global showcase of polo prowess. This year's championship features five formidable teams, each comprising a blend of two international and two Pakistani players, promising an international flair to the matches. "The tournament will see these teams compete in a series of intense matches over the next fortnight, culminating in a grand finale on Sunday, February 25," said Noon. He expressed gratitude towards Bank Alfalah for their continued patronage of the championship, emphasizing the importance of such support in nurturing the noble sport of polo. The line-up for this premier polo event includes teams such as DS Polo, FG Polo, BN Polo, Diamond Paints/Master Paints, and Olympia/AZB Polo, with players hailing from polo heartlands like Argentina, England, and Spain. The tournament is not only a testament to the skill of national athletes but also a platform for international players to showcase their talents on Pakistani soil. Among the teams competing, Team DS Polo is represented by Daniyal Shaikh, Ahmed Ali Tiwana, Nico Roberts, and Max Charlton. Mir Shoaib Ahmed, Raja Temur Nadeem, Martin Gandara, and Juan Zubiaurre Canal form the lineup for Team Diamond Paints/Master Paints. Team FG Polo boasts talents such as Mian Abbas Mukhtar, Raja Mikayial Sami, Mario Gomes, and Raul Laplacette. Team Olympia/AZB features Ahmed Zubair Butt, Abdul Rehman Monnoo, Valentin Novillo Astrada, and Nicolas Corti, while Team BN Polo is composed of Babar Naseem, Santos Iriarte, Hamza Mawaz Khan, and Santiago Loza, showcasing a diverse array of skills and international experience across the board. The championship's opening match is set between FG Polo and DS Polo at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, with subsequent games unfolding over the course of the tournament, leading to the much-anticipated subsidiary and main finals at the Lahore Polo Club’s iconic Aibak Polo Ground on February 25. Jinnah Gold Polo Cup 2024: DS Polo beat Olympia/AZB 7-4 in final

Max Charlton, DS Polo's standout player, led the charge with an impressive six goals, earning him the best player of the final award. His teammate, Ahmed Ali Tiwana, also contributed to the scoreboard with a goal, while Nicolas Corti and Novillo Astrada scored two goals each for Olympia/AZB Polo. The main final kicked off with both teams on an equal footing, each netting a goal to draw 1-1. In the second chukker, DS Polo revamped their strategy, embracing a more aggressive style of play that tipped the balance in their favor and secured them a 3-1 lead. Despite Olympia/AZB momentarily taking the lead at 4-3 in the third chukker, DS Polo swiftly equalized before the chukker concluded. The final and decisive chukker witnessed DS Polo's relentless push, as they fired in three consecutive goals to stylishly clinch the match with a 7-4 victory. Mark John Holmes and ABdul Sattar Khan officiated the main final as field umpires. The final also featured Max Charlton receiving the most valuable player award and Open Bursalino being named the best playing pony. Adding to the day's festivities were a heavy bike parade and javelin competitions for men and women, greatly entertaining the attendees. The event was honored by the presence of Punjab Governor Muhammad Balighur Rehman, who, alongside Fatima Group Director Mian Abbas Mukhtar, awarded the winners and participants. The governor praised the winning team's dedication and wished the runners-up better luck in future endeavors. Earlier in the subsidiary final, Team FG Polo narrowly edged out BN Polo with a scoreline of 6-5. Leading the charge for the victors, Mian Abbas Mukhtar netted three impressive goals, with Raul Laplacette adding two more to their tally. On the BN Polo side, Santiago Loza was the standout performer, scoring three goals, while teammates Babar Naseem and Hamza Mawaz Khan each contributed one goal to their team's effort.

The match was graced by the presence of notable personalities such as former four-goal player Amiruddin Noon, Lahore Polo Club President Malik Azam Hayat Noon, and other distinguished members of the Noon family including Qasim, Salman, Aleem, and Bilal Noon.Bilal Hayat Noon led ZS Polo with an exceptional performance, scoring three spectacular goals. Teammate Zoraiz Shehzad added another two goals to the tally, with Aleem Yar Tiwana and Muhammad Ali Malik contributing one goal each, showcasing the team's formidable prowess. On the opposing side, Newage Cables/Master Paints' efforts were led by Adnan Jalil Azam with two goals, and Sahar Yaghoobi, who managed to put one past the goal line.The day also featured a closely contested subsidiary final where Guard Group edged out Sheikhoo Steel/Diamond Paints with a score of 5-4. Noon Polo Cup: Newage/Master Paints secure main final spot
Sports Bulletin ReportLAHORE: Newage Cables/Master Paints qualified for the main final of the Noon Polo Cup 2024 after winning their match against AR/PR played here at the Lahore Polo Club on Friday. Newage Cables/Master Paints played outstanding polo against AR/PR and outclassed them by 8-1½ to qualify for the main final. Adnan Jalil Azam smashed in five goals for the winning side while teammates Alman Jalil Azam, Sufi Farooq and Sahar Yaghoobi contributed one goal apiece. The only goal from the losing side came from Saim Abbas. In another match of the day played under the American system, Sheikhoo Steel/Diamond Paints won both of their matches to qualify for the subsidiary final. In their first match, Sheikhoo Steel/Diamond Paints defeated Zacky Farms by 3½-3. Mir Huzaifa thrashed in two goals and Sufi Haroon scored one for Sheikhoo Steel/Diamond Paints, which had a handicap advantage of a half goal, while for the losing side, Shah Shamyl Alam slammed in all three goals. In their second match of the day, Sheikhoo Steel/Diamond Paints edged out Sea Gold by 2½-2. Saim Abbas and Mir Huzaifa contributed one goal each for the winning side while Kashif Jamal banged in a brace for Sea Gold. In another match, Zacky Farms thumped Sea Gold by 4½-1. From the winning side, Zackaria Daud Ali Khan and Shah Shamyl Alam thrashed in two goals each. For Sea Gold, the only goal was scored by Shiraz Qureshi. Now, Newage Cable/Master Paints will take on ZS Polo in the main final to be played at Lahore Polo Club’s Ground 2 at 3:00 pm while the subsidiary final will also be contested at the same venue between Sheikhoo Steel/Diamond Paints and Guard Group 1:30 pm.

Noon Polo Cup 2024: ZS polo beat Total Nutrition 6-5
LAHORE (Press Release): ZS polo beat Total Nutrition by 6-5 and qualified for the Main final of The Noon Polo Cup 2024 here at the Lahore Polo Club on Thursday.First match of the day we saw ZS playing outstanding polo against Total Nutrition and outpacing them by 6-5. From the winning team, Bilal Hayat Noon scored four goals and Aleem Yar Tiwana struck two goals. From Total Nutrition, Bilal Haye scored three goals, Usman Haye scored two goals. After winning from this Pool ZS Polo qualified for the Main final.In the 2nd match of day, Guard group beat Platinum Homes by 4.5-2, Guard group team, which had a half goal handicap advantage, Taimur Mawaz Khan scored three goals, while Agha Murtaza Ali Khan scored one goal. From the losing side Babar Manoo and Mustafa Aziz scored one goal each. Two more matches will be played on (Friday after that Finalist and Sub finalist decided after these games.

DS Polo, with Max Charlton leading the charge by netting three goals and Nico Roberts adding two, initially dominated the game. Their early strategy paid off, securing a 3-0 lead by the second chukker and extending it to 5-0 in the third. However, FG Polo, driven by Raul Laplacette's hat-trick and a goal from Mario Gomez, mounted a remarkable comeback. Scoring two quick goals to close the third chukker and adding three more in the final chukker, they levelled the score to 5-5, turning the match into an unforgettable draw.In the day's second match, Olympia/AZB Polo faced off against Master Paints/Diamond Paints in a closely contested battle. The team, led by the duo of Novello Astrada and Nicolas Corti who scored two goals each, along with a single goal from Ahmed Zubair Butt, showcased exceptional teamwork. Despite Amirreza Behboudi's two-goal effort for Master Paints/Diamond Paints and their two-goal handicap advantage, Olympia/AZB Polo's strategic plays in the final chukker secured them a slender 5-4 win.

Benefiting from a two-goal handicap, Diamond Paints/Master Paints saw Amirreza Behboudi leading the charge with an impressive tally of four goals, complemented by Raja Jalal Arsalan and Raja Temur Nadeem, who contributed one goal each. DS Polo's challenge was spearheaded by Max Charlton, who dominated their scoring with six goals, and Ahmed Ali Tiwana, who added one goal to their effort. Diamond Paints/Master Paints entered the match with a two-goal handicap advantage, quickly capitalizing on it despite DS Polo's opening move, a successful 30-yard penalty, narrowing the gap to 2-1. The inaugural match witnessed a fierce competition between Diamond Paints/Master Paints and Olympia/AZB Polo. Capitalizing on a two-goal handicap advantage, Diamond Paints/Master Paints showcased exceptional talent, with Raja Jalal Arsalan and Amirreza Behboudi scoring five and four goals, respectively. Despite a valiant effort from Olympia/AZB Polo, where Valentin Novillo Astrada netted three goals, Nicolas Corti and Ahmed Zubair Butt each scored twice, and Abdul Rehman Monnoo added one, they fell short. The match began with both teams displaying formidable skills, ending the first chukker with Diamond Paints/Master Paints narrowly leading 3-2. They extended their lead in the second chukker, outscoring their opponents and making it 6-3.
