Allama Iqbal Polo: Remington Pharma, Diamond Paints win openers
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: Remington Pharma and Diamond Paints win the opening day matches of the 3rd Allama Iqbal Polo Tournament sponsored by Lahore Smart City here at the Jinnah Polo Fields on Tuesday. The first match of the day proved a one-sided affair, where Remington Pharma outclassed BN Polo by 10-2½. Hamza Mawaz Khan played the hero’s role in his team’s triumph with a phenomenal contribution of eight excellent goals while Basel Faisal Khokhar and Ahmad Bilal Riaz struck one goal each. From BN Polo, which had a half goal handicap advantage, Baber Naseem and Haider Naseem converted one goal each.  Remington Pharma were off to a flying start as they banged in a brace to gain 2-0 lead but BN Polo struck one to reduce it to 2-1 but in the dying moments of the first chukker, Remington Pharma converted one more to stretch their lead to 3-1. The second and third chukker was fully dominated by Remington Pharma as they slammed in two and three goals respectively in both the chukkers. The last chukker saw both the sides scoring one goal each with Remington Pharma emerging as winners by 10-2½. John Fisher and Ahmad Khan officiated the match as field umpires.  The second encounter proved a thrilling one as Diamond Paints defeated Inara Polo/Black Horse Paints by a narrow margin of 4-3. Nico Roberts was the hero of the day from the winning team as he thrashed in three tremendous goals while the remaining one came from Bilal Hayat Noon. From Inara Polo/Black Horse Paints, Hissam Ali Hyder smashed in all the three goals.  Inara Polo/Black Horse Paints started the match well by firing in a field goal and converted one more in the beginning of the third chukker as no goal was scored in the second chukker. Diamond Paints then made their presence felt and dominated the third chukker with three back-to-back goals to gain a slight 3-2 lead. The decisive fourth chukker saw both the teams scoring one goal apiece, thus Diamond Paints emerging as winners with a close margin of 4-3. John Fisher and Raja Jalal Arslan supervised the match as field umpires.

Saeed-uz-Zaman Janjua Memorial Polo Cup: Remington Pharma lift title
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: Remington Pharma edged past Platinum Homes/Master Paints by 7-6 in the Maj Gen Saeed-uz-Zaman Janjua Memorial Polo Cup 2023 sponsored by JS Bank main final played here at the Jinnah Polo Fields on Sunday.  The main final match between Remington Pharma and Platinum Homes/Master Paints proved an enthralling and exciting encounter. Both the sides gave tough time to each other till the third chukker, where Remington Pharma played better polo and excelled with both mallet and polo ponies to take a slight lead, which remained intact till the final whistle. The losing side though tried hard and also managed to score one goal in the last chukker but their efforts couldn’t bear fruit. From Remington Pharma, Hamza Mawaz Khan emerged as hero as he hammered an impressive hat-trick of goals and he was ably assisted by his teammates Ahmed Bilal Riaz (two goals) and Ahmed Zubair Butt and Basel Faisal Khokhar (one goal each). From Platinum Homes/Master Paints, Iranian player Aamirreza Behboudi fired in fabulous five goals and Sufi Mohammad Haroon struck one goal but their contribution proved too little too late as they lost the final by a narrow margin of 6-7. Earlier in the subsidiary final, Team FG/Din Polo won defeated Team Black Horse Paints by 9½-7.  At the prize distribution ceremony, former Army Chief General Jahangir Karamat (R), former Corps Commander Lahore Lt Gen Aamir Riaz (R), were the special guests and distributed prizes among the winners and top performers. Other notables present on the occasion were Brig Badr-uz-Zaman (R), JS Bank Regional Head Majid Qureshi, Club President Lt Col Shoaib Aftab (R), singer Adeel Barki, polo players, their families and a large number of people from different walks of life.  Talking to the media after the match, former Army General Jahangir Karamat said: "The exciting final of this prestigious polo tournament at the Jinnah Polo Fields shows the level of Pakistan polo, which is increasing rapidly and also shows the interest of the fans that there is a lot of life in this game.” Brig Badr-ul-Zaman (r) son of General Saeed-ul-Zaman said: "I am very happy with the way the teams and people participated in the tournament organized in memory of my father.” Basel Faisal Khokhar from the winning team said: “It is a great pleasure to win the second eight-goal tournament of the season. We are well prepared to win more titles in this season.”

Saeed-uz-Zaman Memorial: Platinum Homes/MP, Remington Pharma in final
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: Platinum Homes/Master Paints and Remington Pharma qualified for the main final of the Major General Saeed-uz-Zaman Janjua Memorial Polo Cup 2023 sponsored by JS Bank after winning their respective matches here at the Jinnah Polo Fields on Friday. Three matches were decided and after tough contests, Black Horse Paints, Platinum Homes/Master Paints and Remington Pharma emerged as winners on Friday.  In the first semifinal, Platinum Homes/Master Paints edged past Diamond Paints/Sheikhoo Steel by a close margin of 9-8. For Platinum Homes/Master Paints, Amirreza Behboudi played superb polo and fired in fabulous four goals while Qadeer Ashfaq and Sufi Mohammad Haroon banged in a brace each and Agha Musa Ali Khan struck one goal. Nico Roberts, though played well for Diamond Paints/Nagina Group and smashed in superb six goals, and Lt Col Omer Minhas (R) hit two goals, but their efforts couldn’t yield fruit for their side, which lost the crucial match by 8-9. Raja Mikaeel Sami and Ahmad Bilal Riaz supervised the match as field umpires. The second semifinal saw Remington Pharma defeating FG/Din Polo Team by 5-3½. In-form Hamza Mawaz Khan displayed excellent polo and smashed in superb five goals. His teammates Raja Jalal Arsalan and Shah Shamyl Alam also played well and converted two and one goal respectively. From the team FG/Din Polo, which had a half goal handicap advantage. Raja Jalal Arslan thrashed in two goals while Shah Shamyl Alam converted one. Amirreza Behboudi and Raja Sami Ullah officiated the match as field umpires. Earlier, in the first match of the day, Black Horse Paints defeated Pindi Express team by a narrow margin of 5-4½. Hissam Ali Hyder and Adul Rehman Monnoo played outstanding polo for Black Horse Paints and hammered three and two goals respectively. From Pindi Express, which had a half goal handicap advantage, Raja Mikaeel Sami hammered a hat-trick and Nazar Dean Ali Khan struck one. Amirreza Behboudi and Raja Jalal Arslan were the field umpires. A good number of players and families were present at the ground to enjoy the polo matches in the cold weather. Jinnah Polo Fields President Lt Col Shoaib Aftab (R), JS Bank Regional Head Majid Qureshi, Team Leader Zubair Ehsan Khan and Kashif Butt and others witnessed and enjoyed the enthralling encounters.

Saeed-ul-Zaman Janjua Memorial Polo Cup: FG/Din Polo victorious
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE (January 19, 2023): FG/Din Polo team outpaced BN Polo team by 9-4 in the only match on the third day of the Maj Gen Saeed-ul-Zaman Janjua Memorial Polo Cup 2023 here at the Jinnah Polo Fields on Thursday.  From FG/Din Polo, both brothers Sheikh Mohammad Farhad and Sheikh Mohammad Raffay thrashed in three tremendous goals each while Shah Shamyl Alam and Raja Jalal Arsalan converted one goal each. Raja Samiullah did play well for the BN Polo team and hammered a hat-trick of goals while Haider Naseem scored one goal.  FG/Din Polo dominated the match right from the word go as they converted one goal in the first chukker while fired in four fabulous goals in the second chukker to take a healthy 5-0 lead. BN Polo though made their presence felt in the third chukker by scoring one goal yet FG/Din Polo made a good come back and banged in two back-to-back goals to stretch their lead to 7-1.  The highly-charged fourth and last chukker saw BN Polo converting a hat-trick of goals against a brace by FG/Din Polo, who won the match by 9-4. Amirreza Behboudi and Ahmad Bilal Riaz supervised the match as field umpires.  A large number of polo enthusiasts including sponsors JS Bank, players and their families and JPF officials were present to watch the match of the eight-goal tournament organized in the memory of Major General Saeed-ul-Zaman Janjua. JS Bank Regional Head Majid Qureshi, Team Leader Zubair Ehsan Khan and Kashif Butt, JPF President Lt Col Shoaib Aftab (R) and others witnessed and enjoyed the match.  On Friday, three matches will be played. Hamza Mawaz Khan from Remington Pharma played brilliantly and scored five fabulous goals while Ahmed Zubair Butt banged in a beautiful brace. Haider Naseem played well for BN Polo team by converting two tremendous goals.   Remington Pharma dominated the match right from the word go as they hammered a hat-trick in the first chukker against one goal by BN Polo to gain a 3-1 lead. Remington Pharma maintained their supremacy in the second and third chukkers and smashed in three and one goal respectively to enhance their lead to 7-1. The only goal of the fourth chukker was scored by BN Polo but Remington won the encounter 7-2.  Majid Qureshi, Regional Head JS Bank, was the chief guest on the first day of the eight-goal event. Saeed-uz-Zaman Janjua Memorial Polo Cup from Jan 17
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: The Maj Gen Saeed-uz-Zaman Janjua Memorial Polo Cup 2023 sponsored by JS Bank is commencing from today (Tuesday) here at Jinnah Polo Fields. After a gap of a few weeks, polo will be back in action in Lahore. Jinnah Polo Fields President Lt Col Shoaib Aftab (R) has said that seven teams are participating in this eight-goal event, which has been divided into two pools. This tournament is organized every year in memory of Major General Saeed-uz-Zaman Janjua at Jinnah Polo Fields and this year, JS Bank is the sponsor of the tournament. The JPF President has thanked the sponsors – JS Bank – for sponsoring the event and hoped for a long-term relation for the promotion of polo in the country.   Seven teams include top national and foreign players. Pool A includes FG/Din Polo, BN Polo and Remington Pharma while Pool B consists of Black Horse Paints, Platinum Homes/Master Paints, Pindi Express and Diamond Paints/Sheikhoo Steel. BN Polo team will face Remington Pharma at 2:30 pm on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Black Horse Paints will play against Platinum Homes/Master Paints at 1:00 pm while Pindi Express will vie against Diamond Paints/Sheikhoo Steel at 2:30 pm. The matches will continue throughout the week while the final of the tournament will be held on Sunday (January 22).

Lahore Open Polo: FG / Din Polo clinch trophy
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE (December 25, 2022): FG/Din Polo clinched the Coca-Cola Lahore Open Polo Championship 2022 trophy after outpacing Diamond Paints / Sheikhoo Steel by 6-3 in the final here at the historic Lahore Polo Club ground on Sunday. The final between Diamond Paints/Sheikhoo Steel and FG/Din Polo remained very enthralling and exciting. Diamond Paints/Sheikho Steel team took the lead in the first two chukkers but FG/Din Polo team bounced back strongly in the third and fourth chukkers and turned the tables to emerge as the winners of the final by 6-3. Tomas Marin Moreno was the hero of the final as he did magic with mallet and polo pony and fired in fabulous five goals from the winning side. The remaining one was converted successfully by Shaikh Mohammad Raffy. Manuel Carranza, who replaced Nicolas, thrashed in all the three goals from Diamond Pants/Sheikhoo Steel. Jhon Fisher and Amirreza Behboudi supervised the main final as field umpires. Earlier, the subsidiary final proved a nail-biting encounter, where Remington Pharma beat Master Pants Black by 7-6. The match remained a see-saw battle and the score was equal in the fourth and last chukker. Just before the end of the final chukker, Basel Faisal Khokhar smashed in the match-winning goal to guide his side to a victory. Hamza Mawaz Khan emerged as hero of the match as he hammered fabulous five goals while Bilal Noon and Basel Faisal Khokhar struck one goals apiece. From the losing side, Manuel Carranza slammed in five goals while Sufi Mohammad Amir scored one goal. Jhon Fisher and Amirreza Behboudi officiated the subsidiary final as field umpires. Coca-Cola COO Mohammad Ali Khan and officials of Century Avengers, Lahore Polo Club President Omar Sadiq, Executive Committee members and a large number of players, their families and polo enthusiasts were also present on this occasion. Lahore Open: Diamond Paints/Sheikhoo Steel, FG/Din Polo qualify for main final
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: Diamond Paints/Sheikhoo Steel and FG/Din Polo qualified for the main final of the Coca-Cola Lahore Open Polo Championship 2022 after winning their respective semifinals played here at the Lahore Polo Club on Friday.  Manuel Carranza’s superb seven goals steered Diamond Paints/Sheikhoo Steel outclass Salam Polo by a good margin of 10-4 in the first semifinal. Nicolas Antinori, the foreign player of Diamond Paints/Sheikhoo Steel, got injured at the end of the first round and was replaced by Manuel Carranza, who remained instrumental throughout the next three rounds.  Carranza emerged as top scorer with a classic contribution of seven goals while his teammates Nicolas Antinori, Mir Huzaifa Ahmed and Omar Asjad Malhi scored one goal each from the winning side. Nicolas Ruiz Guinazu and Hamza Ali Hakeem banged in a brace for Salam Polo.  Tomas Marin Moreni fired in fabulous five goals in FG/Din Polo’s convincing 7-5 triumph over Diamond Paints in the second semifinal of the day. Moreno was top scorer from the winning side with a contribution of five goals while his teammates Shah Shamyl Alam and Mian Abbas Mukhtar converted one goal apiece. Lt Col Omer Minhas (R) cracked a quartet and Mir Shoaib Ahmed struck one goal for Diamond Paints.  The main final of the prestigious tournament will be played between Diamond Paints/Sheikhoo Steel and FG/Din Polo at 3:00 pm while the subsidiary final will be contested between Master Paints Black and Remington Pharma on Sunday (December 25) at 1:30 pm.

Lahore Polo: DP/Sheikhoo, Guard Rice, Diamond Paints emerge winners
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: Diamond Paints/Sheikhoo Steel, Guard Rice and Diamond Paints emerged as winners in the Coca-Cola Lahore Open Polo Championship 2022 here at the Lahore Polo Club on Tuesday. Nicolas Antinori hammered an impressive hat-trick in the Diamond Paints/Sheikhoo Steel’s thrilling 7-6 triumph over Salam Polo in the first match of the day. Besides the heroics of Nicolas Antinori, Mir Huzaifa Ahmed (two goals), Usman Aziz Anwar and Umar Malhi (one goal each) also made a good contribution from the winning side.  Nicolas Ruiz Guinazu was in sublime form and played well for the losing side as he contributed with fabulous four goals while his teammates Agha Musa and Raja Arslan struck one goal each. Jhon Fisher and Tomas Marin Moreno supervised the match as field umpires. Tremendous teamwork and combined efforts guided Guard Rice to a superb 7-4 success over Zacky Farms/Kalabagh in the second match of the day. Muhammad Ali Malik (with a contribution of three goals) was the hero of the match so as the Taimur Ali Malik and Saqib Khan Khakwani, who pumped in two goals each from the winning team. Nazar Dean Ali Khan and Raja Jalal Arslan though played well for Zacky Farms/Kalabagh by contributing two goals each, yet their efforts couldn’t yield fruit. Jhon Fisher and Omar Asjad Malhi were the field umpires. Phenomenal Ahmed Ali Tiwana excelled in Diamond Paints’ 8-5 emphatic victory over Newage Cables/Master Paints in the third and last match of the day. The major contribution from the winning side was Ahmed Ali Tiwana’s fabulous four-goal contribution, which was skillfully supported by his teammates Lt Col Omer Minhas (R) and Hamza Ejaz’s contributions of two-goal each.  On the other hand, Juan Cruz Greguol played equally well for the losing side by firing in four fantastic goals while his teammate Sufi Mohammad Farooq contributed with one goal, but their efforts remained fruitless, as their team faced 5-8 defeat at the hands of Diamond Paints. Lahore Open Polo: Master Paints Black, Remington Pharma record wins
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE (December 19, 2022): Master Paints Black and Remington Pharma recorded contrasting victories in Coca-Cola Lahore Open Polo Championship 2022 matches played here at the Lahore Polo Club on Monday. The first match of the day saw majestic Manuel Carranza cracking a double hat-trick to guide Master Paints Black to a sparkling 10-6 success over Barry's/DS Polo in the first match of the day.  Besides a superb six-goal contribution from the hero of the day Carranza, phenomenal Syed Aun Mohammed Rizvi also played a key role in his team's triumph as he thrashed in two tremendous goals while Sufi Mohammad Haroon and Sufi Mohammad Amir converted one goal apiece from the winning side. On the other hand, Rulo Trotz played well for the losing team and contributed with an impressive hat-trick while Nafees Barry and Daniyal Sheikh slammed in two and one goal respectively. Barry’s/DS Polo started the match with a field goal but Master Paints Black made a strong comeback and thrashed in three back-to-back goals to take 3-1 lead by the end of the first chukker. The second chukker was evenly poised as both the teams banged in a brace each with Master Paints Black still enjoying 5-3 lead.  The third chukker saw the dominance of the Master Paints Black, who malleted three back-to-back goals against one by Barry’s/DS to stretch their lead to 8-4. The fourth and last chukker saw both the sides playing well and converting two goals each and by the end of the chukker, Master Paints had 10-6 lead, thus emerging as winners of the match. Jhon Fisher and Amirreza Behboudi officiated the match as field umpires.  Hamza Mawaz Khan’s heroics helped Remington Pharma edge out Platinum Homes by 8-7 in the thrilling second match of the day. The enthralling encounter was tied 7-7 at the end of fourth round, so it was decided in the sudden death chukker, where Ahmed Bilal Riaz smashed in the match-winning goal for Remington Pharma.  High-flying Hamza was in sublime form, and he played excellent polo and fired in with fabulous five goals while Ahmed Zubair Butt thrashed in two tremendous goals and Ahmed Bilal Riaz scored one goal for Remington Pharma.  Amirreza Behboudi of Iran was also in great form and displayed outstanding pony and mallet work. He skillfully converted superb six goals for Platinum Homes while Bilal Noon slammed in the remaining one but their efforts couldn’t bear the fruits for their side, which lost the crucial match by a margin of just one goal in the sudden death chukker.  Both the teams started the match on a high note and converted one goal apiece to make it 1-1. Just before the end of the first chukker, Remington Pharma converted one more to take a slight 2-1 lead. One goal each was score by both the sides to make it 3-2 in the second chukker while Platinum Homes played better polo in the third chukker, scoring two goals against one by Remington Pharma to equalize the score at 4-4.  Both the teams matched fire-with-fire in the highly-charged fourth chukker and managed to pump in three goals each to make it 7-7. No more goal was then scored by either team, thus the match was then decided in the sudden death chukker, where Ahmed Bilal Riaz was the man, who did magic with mallet and pony and hammered the match-winning goal for Remington Pharma that won the crucial encounter by 8-7. Jhon Fisher and Nicolas Ruiz Guinazu supervised the match as field umpires.
