ITF Junior Pakistan Tennis: 4 local players move into next round

ISLAMABAD: As many as four local tennis players and eight foreign players have moved into the second round of the ITF Pakistan World Junior Tennis Championships Leg-2 after winning their respective matches here at garden Avenue at PTF-SDA Tennis Complex on Monday.

Mohammad Huzaifa Khan, Mahatir Mohammad, Bilal Asim Khan, and Huzaima Abdul Rehman posted all straight sets victories in the first round. Mahatir had to toil hard on the court to overcome his opponent in a thriller two sets contest. The final score-line was 7-6 and 6-3.

A  Large number of foreign players from Turkey, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Thailand, United Kingdom (UK), Malaysia, Romania, Singapore, China, Poland, South Korea, Canada and Pakistan are participating in the leg-2 event.

Tariq Murtaza President Islamabad Tennis Association (ITA) /Chairman of Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) was the chief guest at the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was attended by Saeed Ahmad Khan SVP-PTF, Col. Gul Rehman [R] Secretary-General-PTF, Syed Azeem Shah former DG-CDA and Advisor to President-PTF, Syed Ahsan Zaidi Treasurer -ITA and a large number of players and officials.

Bilal Asim (PAK) beat Daniil Chizhuk (RUS) 6-0, 6-3

Yuan Lu (CHN) beat Mohammad Talha Khan (PAK) 6-4, 6-1

Keagan Jonathan (MAS) beat Ahmad Nael Qureshi (PAK) 6-3, 6-0

Cem Atlamis (TUR) beat Amir Mazari (PAK) 6-0, 6-0

Dogan Can Sipahioglu (TUR) beat Ahtesham Humayun (PAK) 6-3, 7-6 (5)

Huzaima Abdul Rehman (PAK) beat Krittamaet Thammakun (THA) 7-5, 6-1
