Volleyball News: Federation disburses cash awards to national players
Pakistan teams visit Taiwan, Uzbekistan, and Iran for international competitionsAbdul Jabbar FaisalISLAMABAD:-Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) has disbursed the cash awards among the national players, who won the Central Asian Volleyball Championship in 2022 at Lahore. Besides hosts Pakistan Iran, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan had participated in the 5-national international volleyball fixture.Chairman, PVF Choudhary Mohammad Yaqoob, and Senior Vice President Engro Syed Zaheer Mehdi distributed the cash prizes in a ceremony at a local hotel on Tuesday. Other officials of PVF and national foreign coach Issanaye Ramires were also present on this occasion. Mubashir Raza, Usman Faryad Ali, Haider Farooq, Abdullah, Fahad Raza, Bilal Khan, Kashif Naveed, Murad Jehan, Abbas Khan, Hamid Yazman, Nasir Ali (players, Khalid Waqar (manager), Saeed Ahmed Khan (coach), Ahsan Iqbal (coach), and Ismaeel Khan (Video Analyst) pocketed the cash awards.Chairman, PVF Choudhary Mohammad Yaqoob said on this occasion that the federation would provide maximum facilities to national players to excel at the international level. “We have hired the services of an international coach from Brazil, Issanaye Ramires, I hope our team will produce a sparkling performance in the upcoming international fixtures. Our target is to secure a berth in the 2028 Olympics and World Championship. We are at 7th rung at the Asian level and we need to get a place in the top four teams to set a place in top international competitions, “he added.While unfolding the details of the international event, the former policeman said that Pakistan would take part in the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Challenge Cup, which would be held from July 8 to 15, this year 2023 in Taiwan. “We will send our Under-16 team to Uzbekistan to show their game skill in the inaugural Asian Men’s Under-16 Volleyball Championship to be played from July 22 to 29. The senior team will visit Iran for Asian Volleyball Championship 2023 from August 17 to 25, “he asserted.Responding to a question Mohammad Yaqoob said that PVF would stage a volleyball league at the end of this year 2023. “Two university volleyball teams from the United States of America (USA) will visit Pakistan to play bilateral series against men’s and women’s teams. Our lads are playing in different countries and we will make our league like Pakistan Super League (PSL), “he concluded.National coach Issanaye Ramires said:“I am happy to join the Pakistan team as coach and we will turn the players into a family and make joint efforts to produce remarkable results in the international events. We are determined to do well.”

India to host Volleyball Club World Championships in December
Sports Bulletin Report Dubai (UAE): Volleyball World and FIVB announced India as the host nation for the Men’s Club World Championships for two years in partnership with the RuPay Prime Volleyball League powered by A23, India’s top professional volleyball league. As the host nation, the winners of the RuPay Prime Volleyball League in 2023 and 2024 will represent India in the tournaments, where they will face fierce competition against established clubs from the top volleyball nations from around the globe like Italy, Brazil, Iran etc.   The championships will be staged between December 6 and 10, 2023. The host city will be announced later this year. The tournament brings the best of international volleyball to India, where the sport is seeing a meteoric rise since the commencement of the RuPay Prime Volleyball League in 2022. For over 20 years, the Volleyball Club World Championships have featured the best men’s professional clubs from around the world, competing for the title of World Champions and a share of over USD 350,000 in prize money.  The FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° said: "The FIVB is delighted to bring the best of men’s club volleyball to India for the first time ever! With the top clubs in the world, including the host nation, taking part, fans in India and around the world can be assured of thrilling volleyball action and incredible athlete performances." "This tournament is known for its exciting and competitive matches, and we are delighted to give fans in India, and around the world, via Volleyball World TV, the opportunity to watch the best clubs and athletes compete at the highest level."  Tuhin Mishra, Managing Director & Co-Founder, Baseline Ventures and Co-Promoter of RuPay Prime Volleyball League said: “It’s a historic moment for Indian sport. For the first time in a truly global sport, the best athletes from around the world will come down to India to showcase their talent and our Indian players will get a chance to compete against them. Sir Syed University win HEC Inter-University Volleyball Championship
Sports Bulletin Report KARACHI: Sir Syed University (SSU) have won the HEC Inter-University Volleyball Championship after beating Aga Khan University (AKU) in the final 3-1 with the score-line of 25-21, 25-23, 26-28 and 25-20. In the final, Sir Syed University won 3-1, the set score of their victory was 25-21, 25-23, 26-28, and 25-20. Earlier, IBA defeated Indus University 25-18 and 25-17 in the third position play-off. Vice President of Sindh Volleyball Association Pervez Ahmad Khan was the chief guest of the championship final organized by Sir Syed University and in collaboration with Higher Education Commission at NED University Gymnasium. University Registrar Commodore (Rtd) Syed Sarfraz Ali, Sindh Volleyball Association Secretary Shahid Masood, Sir Syed University Director Sports International Mubasher Mukhtar, Mohsin Ali Khan, Javed Iqbal, Numanuddin and others were also present. Organizing Secretary and Director Sports Mubasher Mukhtar presented the report of the event. And said that 9 teams have participated in this volleyball event of Zone M for the first time, which is a record, this is a welcome initiative of HEC, if their support continues, the game of volleyball will also get more promotion.

Abdul Wali Khan University win Mardan Girls Volleyball Championship
Peshawar (Sports Report) Department of Sports Sciences Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan has won the first Mardan Girls Volleyball Championship by defeating Government Girls Degree College Sheikh Maltoon Town in the final. As many as 16 teams of girls colleges and schools from five tehsils of Mardan participated in the championship which was jointly organized by the Regional Sports Office and the district administration. Assistant Commissioner Saman Abbas inaugurated the championship. In the closing ceremony, Member Provincial Assembly Zahir Shah distributed prizes among the players. Additional Deputy Commissioner Naik Mohammad, Regional Sports Officer Jamshed Baloch, Chairman Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Imtiaz Ayub, Dr. Farooq Hussain, Chairman, Sports Department, Salman, Administrator, Mardan Sports Complex, Madam Gulnar and Ayesha Tahir, Assistant Commissioner were also present on the occasion. Earlier in the first semi-final, Department of Sports Sciences Abdul Wali Khan University defeated Government Girls Degree College Mardan while in the second semi-final Girls Degree College Sheikh Maltoon defeated Sports Club and qualified for the final. MPA Zahir Shah Toro and ADC Naik Mohammad paid tributes to the Regional Sports Office Mardan for organizing the championship and assured all possible cooperation in organizing the competitions.

Gandaw Mohammad Shah Club win volleyball final
Ayaz Raza Afridi PESHAWAR (December 27, 2021):-The 1st Mir Awais Mohmand Open Volleyball Tournament concluded on Monday with the victory of Gandaw Mohammad Shah Club, who defeated Yakka Ghund Club in the final at Captain Rohullah Shaheed Sports Stadium in Ghalanai, Mohmand District. As many as 20 teams from different cities of Pakhtunkhwa participated in the 4-day volleyball tournament. In the final match, Gandaw Muhammad Shah Club defeated Yakka Ghund Club after a tough contest. Shehzad Nabi, a representative of Al-Hamid Mineral Company, distributed cash prizes and trophies. During the tournament, Mumtaz Mama, a popular volleyball commentator from Nowshera, amused the volleyball lovers with his commentary. In the end, Shehzad Nabi, Sports Representative of Mir Awais Mohmand, Managing Director of Alhamid Mineral Company, gave Rs. 50,000 in cash and cup to the winner team.

PAF defeat WAPDA 3-1 to clinch Mir Chakar Azam Rind Volleyball title
Ali Ahmed LAHORE (December 24, 2021):-Pakistan Air Force (PAF) defeated WAPDA 3-1 with a score of 25-11, 21-25, 25-19 and 25-21  in the thrilling title clash of Mir Chakar Azam Rind Volleyball Tournament at Gymnasium Hall Divisional Sports Complex, Dera Ghazi Khan on Friday. The 3rd position went to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who trounced South Punjab by 3-0 with the score of 25-18, 25-19, 31-29 in the 3rd/4th position match. Minister of State for Climate Change ZartajGul was the chief guest at the final match. She also witnessed the exciting final match and appreciated the game skills of both the teams. Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab on Health Hanif Pitafi, Deputy Commissioner DG Khan Zeeshan Javed, Assistant Commissioner Mohammad Nabeel, Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Ahmed Hasan Ranjha, CEO Secondary Education Sirajud Din, Director Sports Nadeem Qaiser, Divisional Sports Officer DG Khan Atta ur Rehman, Assistant Director Raees ur Rehman, Sardar Khan Senior Vice-President PVA and Secretary Punjab Volleyball Association (PVA) MB Javed were also present on this occasion. Speaking on this occasion, Minister of State for Climate Change ZartajGul congratulated the organizers for holding the Mir Chakar Azam Rind Volleyball Tournament in a successful manner. She thanked all the participating teams and officials and said that definitely it is a historic occasion for South Punjab to host such a big sports event. Minister of State for Climate Change Zartaj Gul Mir Chakar Azam Rind Games are being organized in this part of the province in accordance with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan. “I’m quite confident that South Punjab will gain several potential young players of volleyball, hockey and wrestling after the completion of Mir Chakar Azam Rind Games,” she added. Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti congratulated Pakistan Air Force (PAF) for winning the coveted title of Mir Chakar Azam Rind Volleyball Tournament. A large number of sports lovers including hundreds of students from various schools and colleges were also present at the venue to cheer the participating teams. They also enjoyed the exciting volleyball matches of Mir Chakar Azam Rind Games Volleyball Tournament being organized under the auspices of Sports and Youth Affairs Department Punjab. Meanwhile, a hockey match will be played at DG Khan on December 25, 2021 (Saturday) as part of Mir Chakar Azam Rind Games.

Mir Chakar Games: PAF and WAPDA reach in volleyball final
Sports Report LAHORE (December 23, 2021):-Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and Pakistan WAPDA stormed into the final of Mir Chakar Azam Rind Volleyball Tournament after winning their respective semifinals comprehensively on the third day of Mir Chakar Azam Rind Games Volleyball Tournament at Gymnasium Hall Divisional Sports Complex, Dera Ghazi Khan on Thursday. Divisional Sports Officer DG Khan Atta ur Rehman, District Education Officer Sirajud Din, Director DGPR Raheem Talib, Deputy Director DGPR Junaid Jatoi, Assistant Director Raees-ur-Rehman, several officers of different departments and other prominent personalities of the region were also present on this occasion. Director General Sports Punjab Javed Chohan in his greeting message on Thursday congratulated Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and WAPDA teams for booking a place in the final of the grand event. “The teams of PAF and WAPDA exhibited wonderful performance in their respective semifinals and did not allow their opponents to settle down in any stage of their matches,” he added. Director General Sports Punjab Javed Chohan expressed the hope that sports lovers of South Punjab will witness thrilling encounter between two best teams of Mir Chakar Azam Rind Games Volleyball Tournament. A large number of male and female students of different schools and colleges also watched the exciting volleyball matches of Mir Chakar Azam Rind Games Volleyball Tournament being organized under the auspices of Sports and Youth Affairs Department Punjab.   The 3rd/4th position match will be played between South Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa teams in the morning followed by title clash between Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and Wapda teams. In the first semifinal match, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) thrashed South Punjab by a big margin of 3-0 and with a score of 25-15, 25-23 and 28-26. PAF won the first set quite comfortably but South Punjab players revived their confidence and offered a strong resistance in the second and third sets but unfortunately they could not change the fate of the match. The second semifinal match was played between Wapda and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) 3-0. Wapda dominated the proceedings right from the beginning and won the match by a score of 25-13, 25-22 and 25-17. Though Khyber Pakhtunkhwa lost the match by 3-0 but they managed to give tough time to their strong opponents in the second set.

Mir Chakar Games: KPK thrash Punjab 3-1 in volleyball
LAHORE (Sports Report):-Two volleyball matches were played on the second day of Mir Chakar Azam Rind Games Volleyball Tournament at Gymnasium Hall Divisional Sports Complex, Dera Ghazi Khan on Wednesday. In the first match Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) thrashed Punjab by 3-1 margin while South Punjab emerged triumphant against Higher Education Commission (HEC) with the same margin in the second match. Director General Sports Punjab JavedChohan while expressing his views on the holding of Mir Chakar Azam Rind Games in South Punjab said Sports Board Punjab has planned regular sports events in all parts of the province. “Mir Chakar Azam Rind Games in South Punjab is also part of our sports promotion campaign and we will organize more sports events at a bigger level in other parts of province so that talented youth from across the province could get a suitable platform to display their hidden sports abilities”. The participating volleyball players demonstrated immense passion in Mir Chakar Azam Rind Games Volleyball Tournament matches. “This tournament is providing us a wonderful platform to show our talent and there should be more events like this in future,” the volleyball players said while expressing their views about the tournament. It may be noted here that country’s leading volleyball teams like Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Higher Education Commission (HEC), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Pakistan Wapda and South Punjab are participating in the Volleyball Tournament.

Volleyball Championship: PAF, Army, Navy and WAPDA qualify for semifinals
Lahore (Sports Report):-Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Army, Navy and WAPDA have book their berths in semifinals of the 52nd Engro National Volleyball Championships after beating Railway (3-0), Punjab (3-0), Higher Education Commission (3-1) and Khyber PakhtunKawa (3-0) respectively at the Punjab Sports Gymnasium Hall, Lahore. Results: PAF beat Railway by 3-0 (25-14, 25-6, 25-8) Army beat Punjab 3-0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-17) Navy beat HEC 3-1 (25-13, 25-14, 24-26, 25-18) WAPDA beat KPK 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-18).

National Volleyball Championship enters in quarterfinal stage
Lahore (Sports Report):-The 52nd Engro National Volleyball Championships entered the last eight stage on its third day at the Punjab Sports Gymnasium Hall, Lahore on Monday. Defending champion WAPDA, last year’s runners-up Army, Railways, Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Khyber Pakhtunkawa (KPK), Higher Education Commission (HEC), Navy and Punjab qualified for quarterfinals, as five matches were decided on Monday.  WAPDA faced good opposition from high-flying Railways before completing a 3-1 win, with the score-line of 25-16, 25-16, 21-25, 25-17. The Railways men showed their presence on the court and fought well against the top team of the event. Gilgit Baltistan also stunned Balochistan 3-0. The winners ousted opponents at 25-6, 25-17, 15-27, 25-20. KPK recorded an easy victory against Sindh 3-0. KPK kept the lead from start to finish with the score-line of 25-10, 25-12, 25-12 to confirm a place in the quarterfinals. Punjab defeated Islamabad in straight away 3-0 with the score of 25-13, 25-11 and 25-17 to book a place in the last eight. Azad Jammu Kashmir beat Pak Board 3-0 in a graceful style as the losers failed to score a single point, in the match, which has no bearing to make a place in the last eight.
