Westbury National Tennis Championship: Shahab lifts the title

KARACHI:-Shahab Khan overcame Mohammad Ali 2-1 in the Men’s Singles final to lift the title of the 19th Westbury Tennis Championship that concluded at Modern Club Karachi. The final score-line was 6-1, 3-6 and 10-7.

Rasheed Jan Mohammad, Chief Executive of Westbury Group was the chief guest at the final to distribute the prizes among the winners and runner-ups. Abdul Sattar of Modern Club was guest of honor. Also, Mohammad Khalid Rehmani , Ahmed Ali Rajpoot, Mahfoozul Haq, Sarwar Hussain ( STA) , Rafi Derbari ( HTA) , Imtiaz Sheikh  ( SOA) Mohammad  Saeed ( Dart Association ). Kalim Awan ( Cycling), Touqeer Hashmi (Education), Anwar Baig ( Modern Club) Zafar Hasan ( KTA) Erum Bukhari ( Hockey)  Amber Nazir ( Dodge ball), Iqbal Memon (LUMHS),  Fouzia Fala ( Education) Mahiya Moin ( Education ) Perween Akhter  ( KTA) , Qudsia Rja (Assistant Referee) Jamil Khan (Modern Club) Rashid Malik (Davis Cup Captain), Ali Mansoor Zaidi (Director SWG), Altaf Hussain (Davis Cupper) and Sakina Zafar (Reaching Hand  NGO) were present on this occasion.

Rashid Jan Mohammad congratulated winners and runner-ups and announced to continue sponsoring Westbury National tennis in the 20th Addition as well.

Mohammad Khalid Rehmani announced to hold 2nd Gatorade Trophy Tennis from 28th May in Karachi followed by 9th Indus Pharma National and 11th Essa Lab National later this year. He also announced to inaugurate a beach tennis court at Liaqat  University of Health  Jamshoro.

Asad Zaman, Zohaib Afzal, and Amir Mazar all three from Lahore won double crown, where as Hyderabad,s young talent Rashid Ali won Under-10 title. Natalia Zaman of Karachi continued her supremacy, winning Under 18 Girls title without losing single set.

Natalia Zaman beat Inaya Sayeed 6-2, 6-2

Boys Under-16 Singles:

Asad Zaman beat Faiz Ilyas 6-1, 6-0

Boys Under-14 Singles:

Amir Mazar beat Zohaib Afzal 4-1, 1-4, 4-1

Girls Under-14 Singles:

Inaya Sayeed beat Laibah Khan 4-0, 4-0

Juniors Under-14 Doubles:

Amir Mazari and Samer Zaman beat Zohaib Afzal and Muzamil Bhand 4-1, 4-1

Boys Under-12 Singles:

Zohaib Afzal (Lahore) beat Ali Bachani (Hyderabad) 4-0, 4-0

Boys Under-10 Singles:

Rashid Ali (Hyderabad) beat Zayd Zaman 4-0, 4-0

Boys Under-8 Singles:

Umer Zaman beat Rahim Faisal 11-9, 10-8

Wheelchair Tennis:

Fida Hussain beat Mohammad Ayub 6-2
