ISLAMABAD: ITF (International Tennis Federation) Pakistan Juniors Tennis Championship Leg-1 rolled into action here at PTF-SDA Tennis Complex with the qualifying round, as the main draw matches will be started from Monday.

A total number of 12 qualifying matches were played on the first day, as the final round of the qualifying matches will be on Sunday while the main draw will commence on Monday at the same venue.

Around 38 foreign boys and girls from Turkey, Russia, India, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Australia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, United States of America (USA), Nepal, Malaysia and Japan are participating in the first leg of the international juniors’ fixture.

The President PTF, Salim Saifullah Khan and Former Provincial Minister-KPK Humayun Saifullah Khan visited PTF Complex and interacted with the players, coaches and parents and, conveyed their best wishes to all the participants.

The President PTF also met and encouraged the two youngest Pakistani participants, Amir Mohammad Khan Mazari and Nabeel Ali Qayum, and motivated them to keep toiling hard, as they had a bright future ahead of them.

Akaash De Silva (SRI) beat Talha Khan (PAK) 6-2, 6-3

Jonathan Hii (AUS) beat Ahmed Rashid (USA) 6-0, 7-6 (3)

Thanthip Poti (THA) beat Ada Guler (TUR) 6-3, 6-3

Gehash Tissera (SRI) beat Hamza Rehmat (PAK) 6-0, 6-2

Boys’ Singles (Qualifying Round-II):

Mikhail Svanidze (GEO) beat Hisham Mahmood (PAK) 6-0,6-3

Hyugo Sawada (JPN) beat Mustansir Ali Khan 3-6, 6-0 (11-9)

Pudit Phapatsirikul (THA) beat Inam Qadir (PAK) 6-1, 6-1

Kivanc Bedir (TUR) beat Syed Raahim Bin Veqar 6-2, 6-1

Azat Sarsembaev (KAZ) beat Akaash De Silva 7-5, 7-5

Thanathip Poti (THA) beat Nabeel Qayum 6-0, 6-3
