LAHORE: Upcoming tennis guy, Bilal Asim claimed second back-to-back Asian Under-16 Tennis title after defeating Asad Zaman in the Ali Embroidery Mills Pvt Ltd ATF Under-16 Asian Tennis Tour 2022 Leg-2 final here at the Sports Board Punjab Tennis Academy, Nishtar Park Sports Complex on Thursday.

In the boys U-16 final, Bilal Asim, brilliant student of coach Rashid Malik, outclassed Asad Zaman, another student of coach Rashid Malik, with a score of 6-0, 6-1. Bilal dominated the title clash right from the word go as he never allowed his opponent to play freely and maintained his supremacy till the last point to win the final by 6-0, 6-1, thus claiming the second successive Asian U-16 title.

Bilal Asim completed the brace of Asian U-16 titles, when he, partnering with Ahtesham Humayun (Crescent School), played well against Hamid Israr/Hamza Roman and edged out the spirited pair by 7-5, 7-6 to win the boys U-16 doubles final. In the position matches, Sheheryar Anees outlasted Amir Mazari 6-4, 6-0, M Salaar outclassed Taimoor Khan 6-1, 6-1, Nabeel Qayum toppled Aized Khalil 6-2, 6-1, Hamid Israr thumped Kashan Tariq 6-2, 6-1.

Meanwhile, Nabeel Qayum of Islamabad thrashed Abdur Rehman 6-0 to win the boys/girls U-14 title in the Ali Embroidery Mills Pvt Ltd Punjab Junior Tennis Championship 2022. Nabeel displayed high quality tennis skill and techniques and didn’t allow his opponent Abdur Rehman to score a single point to win the boys/girls U-14 final by 6-0. Nabeel also completed the brace of titles when he, partnering with Abdur Rehman (SICAS) hammered the pair of Bismel Zia/Hajra Suhail by 6-1 in the boys/girls U-14 doubles final.

In the boys/girls U-12 final, Abdur Rehman (AAA Associates) beat Hajra 6-1. In the boys/girls U-10 final, Hajra Suhail (AAA Associates) beat Mustafa Uzair Rana 6-2. In the boys/girls U-8 final, Ayan Shahbaz grabbed the gold medal, Ehsan Bari silver and Daniyal Afzal bronze medal. In the boys/girls U-6 final, Mamnoon Bari bagged the gold medal, Shahreen Omer silver, Hafsa Sohail bronze medal.

Tariq Zaman, CEO Ali Embroidery Mills Pvt Ltd, was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony and he, along with, PLTA Secretary Rashid Malik (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz) distributed prizes among the winners. Sindh Tennis Association SVP Khalid Rehmani, former PTF SVP Col Asif Dar (R), Ashfaq Chohan, players, their families and tennis enthusiasts were also present on this occasion. Rashid Malik thanked Tariq Zaman for his all-out support for junior tennis development and hoped that he will continue to support this beautiful game.
