Athletics Federation unfolds details of national and international events
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) has revealed the details of two events, which will be held during the month of February including one international and one national fixture. According to Secretary AFP Mohammad Zafar, five athletes will participate in the forthcoming 10th Asian-Indoor Athletics Championship, which will be taken place Astana, Kazakhstan from February 10 to 12, 2023. The 1st Aitchison Half Marathon will be held at Aitchison College Lahore on 18th of this month. Shajar Abbas (60m), Sharoz Khan (High Jump), Mohammad Imran (High Jump), Uzair Rehman (400m), Jaffar Ashraf (Pole Vault) and Qazi Tanveer Hussain (Manager-cum-Coach) are the part of national contingent. The men athletes from the affiliated units of the federation including Pakistan Army, WAPDA, Railways, Higher Education Commission (HEC), Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), Islamabad, Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK), Police, Gilgit Baltistan and student-athletes of Aitchison College will participate in the Half Marathon race. Also, cash prizes will be awarded to athletes up to 14th position as the winner will pocket 100 thousands rupees while runner-up will collect Rs. 50 thousands. Third position holder will get 25 thousands while rest of 11 get 10 thousand each.

Islamabad Run with Us: Marathon Race on January 29, 2023
Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD: The 42 kilometers Islamabad marathon race will be held on Sunday, and will start from Trail 3 Islamabad Parking here at Margallah Road in five different categories including Full Marathon (42.2 km), Half Marathon (21.1 km) 10 km, 5 km, and Kids Fun Run. According to an official, Qasim Naz, Islamabad Run with Us (IRU) will organize the second full marathon (42km) in Islamabad on Sunday (January 29, 2023. It will be the second time that Islamabad will host such an event. The participants will run from Trail-III towards 7th Avenue and go Shakirparian and from the round-about of I-8 Bridge the athletes will come back at the end-point Trail-III Details of Categories: Full Marathon (42.2km): Both males and females over 14 years of age can participate. Commissioner Karachi Marathon Race on January 29, 2023
Sports Bulletin Report KARACHI: The 4th Commissioner Karachi Marathon on January 29, 2023, as the registration process has been kicked off for the mega athletic event. According to an official, the fourth edition of the Commissioner Karachi Marathon will be held on January 29, at Nishan-i- Pakistan Sea View. Commissioner Karachi Mohammad Iqbal Memon will inaugurate the marathon at 10 am at Nishan-i- Pakistan Sea View. There will be two categories of the marathon, the first one will be twelve kilometers while the other category will be a seven and a half kilometers race. Men and women of all ages can participate in both categories while special children and families can also participate in the marathon in a special category. Arshad Nadeem leaves for the United Kingdom for knee treatment
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE (December 1, 2022): Javelin Throw star of Pakistan Arshad Nadeem has left for the United Kingdom (UK) on Wednesday night from Lahore for treatment of his injured elbow and knee joint. According to the Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP), the chronic right elbow injury has created major problems for him during the throwing action of the Javelin during training and in competitions. AFP has arranged for Arshad to undergo treatment at the Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital in the UK. A two-member team of Doctors headed by Dr. Ali Bajwa will perform treatment procedures on Saturday on the right elbow and left knee of the stalwart. After a 10-day rehabilitation and physiotherapy period, Arshad is expected to return home on the 12th of December 2022. It will further take 4 to 6 weeks for him to make a full recovery and return to his regular training routine.

Top national athlete Shajar Abbas wins 100 meter race
LAHORE (Sports Bulletin):-Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) and Aitchison Collage jointly organized 1st Aitchison Fastest Man Race (100m) at Aitchison Collage Lahore on Friday. According to an official of AFP, over 100 men athletes from the affiliated units of AFP including Army, WAPDA, Railways, HEC, Punjab, Sindh, KPK, Islamabad, AJ&K, Police & Gilgit Baltistan and student-athletes of Aitchison College participated in the competition. Shajar Abbas got first position and pocketed Rs. 100,000 cash prize while Nadeem Ali remained second and got Rs. 50,000. Uzair Rehman won third position and received prize of Rs. 25,000.  Secretary General Athletics Federation of Pakistan Mohammad Zafar and Principal Aitchison College Michael Thomson distributed medals and cash prizes among the winner athletes of event.

Arshad urges government to provide best facilities to athletes
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE:-The gold medal winner of the recently Commonwealth Games 2022, Arshad Nadeem viewed of that an athlete might win gold medal in the international competitions if he would be provided all international standard facilities. While addressing a press conference he said he could also win the medal in the Olympics if he would be facilitated well like athletics ground and other equipment. “I will work hard to bring the honour for the country in the next Olympic Games, which will be taken place in Paris, France, “he added. Javelin thrower Arshad urged the government to provide a fully-equipped and international-standard athletics ground for the local players and expressed the hope that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would take steps for the betterment of athletic sports in the country. Arshad lauded Pakistan Wapda’s role in the promotion and development of sports in Pakistan and added: “Wapda is the biggest players’ support platform in our country. I am grateful to my department Wapda, which provides jobs to many talented and potential sportspersons of the country, who are trained well under able guidance of qualified coaches and later, they win medals for the country at national and international levels. I wish that the private sector too will continue to promote our local players and we will achieve more success in the future by working together. “I am also thankful to Nayza and its CEO Zahid Hussain for their support and training abroad as it helped me train well according to international standard and transformed me into a champion that’s why I succeeded in creating Asian record in javelin throw. With more such support, hopefully, I will succeed in giving my best in the world event and Paris Olympics,” he asserted. When asked about the facilities being provided to his counterpart Neeraj Chopra of India, Arshad said: “Neeraj Chopra has been enjoying the best facilities in his country and it was due to heavy investment on him that he had won gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics. After winning gold medals in the Commonwealth Games and Islamic Solidarity Games, I am now hopeful that everyone will support me too and my eyes will be on winning Paris Olympics gold,” he added. The 25-year-old athlete said that he was currently working on his injury and would undergo vigorous training before the Paris Olympics 2024. “I will prepare well for the Paris Olympics 2024. I am working on my injury and AFP President Maj Gen (R) Akram Sahi and other officials have supported me tremendously for that. The doctors have also done a great job for my recovery.” Commenting on his meeting with PM Shehbaz today (Thursday), Arshad hoped that the PM would take measures for the advancement of athletics in the country. “My task is to produce the best results in the mega events and thanks to Allah Almighty, I succeeded in winning gold medals in the two prestigious events. Now it is up to the government and the premier what they provide me for the preparation of upcoming Olympics. The basic thing I need is fully-equipped ground for my practice and training and I am optimistic that the premier would take an abrupt decision on it and provide us a state-of-the-art athletics ground soon.” Speaking on the occasion, Nayza CEO Zahid Hussain said: “Our meeting with Arshad Nadeem was held through Salman Butt and then we held meeting with AFP President Maj Gen (R) Akram Sahi, who asked us to fully support Nadeem saying he has potential and he can help Pakistan win international medal. First, we sent him Mashhad, Iran for training and then South Africa, where he trained for two months and then he went to USA, where he trained well. “I think Commonwealth Games proved a lucky place for him, where he finally won the first javelin throw gold for Pakistan. He was supported and guided well by Dr Ali Bajwa and then he managed to win another gold medal in Solidarity Games in Konya, Turkey. Arshad is now our shinning stars and we are fully supporting him and want him to win more gold medals in world and Olympic events,” he added. It is pertinent to mention here that Arshad Nadeem created history in the Commonwealth Games 2022 for Pakistan as he clinched a gold medal in the javelin event with his record throw of 90.18 meters. He also clinched won gold medal in the Islamic Solidarity Game held in Konyo, Turkey.

IOA scholarship helps to focus on the game: says Arshad Nadeem
Sports Bulletin Report Birmingham (UK):-Pakistan's sports hero Arshad Nadeem, who on Sunday won the gold medal for the country in the javelin throw competition in the Commonwealth Games 2022 here, thanked the International Olympic Association (IOA) for providing him with a scholarship till the Paris Olympics 2024 and hoped the financial assistance under this scholarship would help further shine his skills at javelin throw by availing better training facilities and continue to reach new heights of success. "I am also obliged to the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA)  for its efforts in this regard to help him secure the much-needed IOA scholarship", he said, adding that he was thankful to Almighty Allah for enabling him to secure a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games for the country. Arshad Nadeem, who emerged as the first javelin thrower from the entire sub-continent to cross the 90-metre mark to bag the gold medal, said that the scholarship would not only enable him to focus on the game in the real sense of the word but also provide him with an opportunity to get better training opportunity and enhance his capability in the game, which in turn would enable him to continue to win further laurel for the country at the international level, particularly the Paris Olympics.

Arshad Nadeem visits Shackleton Village Birmingham
Sports Bulletin Report Birmingham (UK):-Pakistan’s number one athlete Arshad Nadeem arrived here on Saturday to participate in the javelin throw discipline of the22nd Commonwealth Games 2002, which are going on Birmingham, United Kingdom. According to an official of Pakistan’s contingent, after arriving Arshad Nadeem was taken to the welcome centre of the games, where he was tested for Covid-19, which resulted negative. After the registration process, Arshad Nadeem along with Dr Asad Abbas and Arshad Sattar visited Shackleton Village Birmingham where they were received by the Deputy Chef-de-Mission Major (R) Majid Wasim of the national contingent. On this occasion Arshad Nadeem said: “After one year of injury I made a comeback in the World Athletics Championship 2022 held in America and finished at the 5th spot after recording 86.16 meters throw. I am satisfy with my performance in the World Championship and has made full preparations for the Commonwealth Games”. In this regard, the chief medical officer of the national team, Dr Asda Abbas and Arshad Sattar are fully supporting Arshad. It should be noted that the qualifying rounds of javelin throw will be held on August 5th in the Commonwealth Games, while the final round will be held on August 7th. Arshad requested the people of Pakistan for prayers.

Pakistan athletes clinch 6 medals: Shajar Abbas lifts gold in Almaty
Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD:-Pakistani athletes Shajar Abbas, Sohail Amir, Abdul Mueed, Sharoz Khan and Shah Nawaz earned 6 medals including one gold, three silvers and two bronzes in the XXXI Qosanov Memorial Athletics Championship, which was held from June 25-26, 2022 at Almaty, Kazakhstan. According to Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP), national athletes won 6 medals in the championship after showing impressive performance in the international fixture. They created 3 new national records in the events of 100m (created new national record by finishing the race in 10.38 sec), 200m & High Jump.   Pakistani athletes produced notable performance due to the preparations during the National Training Camp at Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Coaching Centre Lahore.  Out class, facilities were provided to the athletes by the PSB.   Major General (Retd) Mohammad Akram Sahi, President AFP and Mohammad Zafar, Secretary General have congratulated the winning athletes and entire athletics family of Pakistan on this great achievement. Technical Officials Education & Certification System Level-1 Athletics Course concludes
Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD:-An Educational Course, Technical Officials Education and Certification System (TOECS) Level-1 Athletics Course concluded on Thursday at Jinnah Stadium, Pakistan Sports Complex. Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) organized this course in the collaboration with World Athletics (WA) from June 18 to 22, 2022. Maj Gen (R) Mohammad Akram Sahi, HI(M), SI(M), President AFP and Vice President Asian Athletics Association graced the closing ceremony as chief guest and distributed the certificates among  the participants. According to an official of AFP, the main purpose to organize the course was to educate, train and increase the number of qualified technical officials in the country. International lecturer Suppiah Chinatamy (Malysian National) conducted the course. Mumtaz Ul Haq, Senior Vice President Islamabad Athletics Association was the course secretary. Syed Habib Shah, General Secretary, Punjab Athletics Association was the chief coordinator. The course will contribute a lot in the promotion of athletics at different levels and the qualified technical officials will be eligible to attend TOECS Level-II course. They will have chance to perform duties in the national and international athletics competitions.
