National Junior Hockey Championship to start from September 21
Sports Bulletin ReportRAWALPINDI: The 37th National Junior Hockey Championship will be played from September 21 to October 10, 2024 at Lt. Gen (Retd) Ishfaq Nadeem Hockey Stadium, Ayub Park Rawalpindi.Regarding the top national junior hockey fixture, Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has written a letter to all its affiliated unites including all provinces and advised them to prepare their teams for the national junior hockey event.

Hockey Federation invites 40 players for Training Camp in Islamabad
ISLAMABAD (faisal): Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has invited 40 players from different departments for a national training camp, which will get underway here at Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium, Pakistan Sports Complex from July 31. The final selected team will participate in the Asian Champions Trophy Hockey Tournament.Pakistan Hockey Federation asked players to report to Camp Commandant Olympian Sheikh Usman at 2 pm on July 31 at the Naseer Banda Hockey Stadium, Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad. PHF briefs POA regarding South Asian Games preparations
Sports Bulletin ReportLAHORE: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) briefed the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) regarding the preparations for the upcoming South Asian Games, which will be held in Pakistan this year 2024.According to an official of PHF, Haider Hussain, the Secretary-General PHF provided a comprehensive briefing during a meeting chaired by President POA, Mohammad Abid Qadri Gillani. The gathering, held under the auspices of the Pakistan Olympic Association for preparations of the South Asian Games, focused on the hosting responsibilities for the hockey event. The prestigious event is set to feature seven teams, both men's and women's, with the National Hockey Stadium in Lahore proposed as the venue.The assembly witnessed the presence of key figures, including Secretary-General POA, and officials from various national sports federations. Among them were Khalid Bashir (Secretary-General, Pakistan Basketball Federation), Haji Mohammad Shafiq (President, Pakistan Handball Federation), Faizi Khawaja (Chairman, Pakistan Rugby Federation), Nasir Ahmed (Director, Pakistan Volleyball Federation), and Mohammad Jahangir (Chairman, Pakistan Karate Federation).In their collaborative efforts, the stakeholders expressed their commitment to making the event a triumph, discussing various recommendations and strategies to ensure the seamless organization of the international competition. Secretary-General PHF Haider Hussain commended the POA's dedication to fostering the development of players and highlighted the concerted efforts being made to secure Pakistan as the host for international events.

Navy to Stage Chief of Naval Staff All Pakistan Hockey Tournament
Abdul Jabbar FaisalISLAMABAD: An eight-team 4th All Pakistan Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Hockey Cup will be held from May 16 to 24, 2024 at the National Hockey Stadium, Lahore.According to an official of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), Station Commander Lahore Pakistan Navy Commodore Sajid Hussain met with officials of the Pakistan Hockey Federation and Sports Board Punjab (SBP). Also, attended by Executive Secretary PHF Ali Abbas, Director Administration and Coordination and world-renowned penalty corner specialist Olympian Khalid Bashir, Assistant Director Mubasher Ali, Deputy Station Commander Jawad, Director Sports Pakistan Navy Mohammad Kamran, and Sports Officer Navy Mohammad Rizwan.Mari Petroleum, Pakistan WAPDA, Customs, Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Army, Pakistan Air Force, Police, and Sindh will fight for title during the d days prestigious national hockey showpiece. Executive Secretary PHF Ali Abbas assured full technical support and assistance from the Pakistan Hockey Federation.Station Commander Lahore Pakistan Navy Commodore Sajid Hussain Satara Imtiaz (Military) issued instructions to the subordinate staff regarding the arrangements for the event. On this occasion, he said that the Pakistan Navy would organize this tournament for the promotion and development of the national sport of hockey in a grand manner.

Chairman, KJH thanks OHC Bully Club and Dutch Embassy
Sports Bulletin ReportISLAMABAD: The Chairman, Khawaja Junaid Hockey (KJH) Academy, Olympian Kawaja Junaid thanked to OHC Bully Club, Dutch Embassy in Islamabad, Punjab Police, Higher Education Commission (HEC), and other stakeholders, who were involved and made three-match bilateral Friendship Hockey Series possible.In a statement, Khawaja Junaid said: “Over the past few weeks, the Dutch hockey club OHC Bully got an opportunity to visit Lahore and Islamabad, two beautiful cities in Pakistan. This visit was not only an exciting experience for the club members, but it also served as a way to strengthen cultural ties between the Netherlands and Pakistan. The members of OHC Bully were warmly welcomed by the locals, who were eager to showcase their hospitality and love for the game of hockey.”“During their visit to Lahore, the OHC Bully members were able to experience the rich history and culture of the city. They visited Sialkot, famous for sports manufacturers, and especially the flag ceremony at Wahga Border. Additionally, the club got the opportunity to play three friendly matches with the Prime Minister Youth Program HEC talent team, which they won and allowed them to learn new techniques and strategies from their Pakistani counterparts. Hockey Federation invites 49 players for training camp in Islamabad

Mir Tariq Bugti restores former national hockey selection committee
LAHORE (Press Release): The newly appointed president, the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Mir Tariq Hussain Bugti has restored the former national hockey selection committee, which was working under the chairmanship of Olympian Kaleemullah.According to the press release of PHF, Tariq Bugti also brought back hockey team management, led by Head Coach Shahnaz Sheikh. Instructions have been issued to PHF Executive Secretary Ali Abbas to take charge of his responsibilities, and Olympian Khalid Bashir has been appointed as the Director Administration.PHF President Mir Tariq Hussain Bugti has wasted no time in making major decisions as he takes charge at the PHF headquarters. The national hockey selection committee, as documented in the records of the Pakistan Sports Board, has been reinstated. The selection committee was working under the leadership of Olympian Kaleemullah Khan, includes Olympians Naseer Ali, Rahim Khan, and Leek Lashari International.President PHF Mir Tariq Hussain Bugti has also reinstated the national senior hockey team management. Under Head Coach Olympian Shahnaz Sheikh, the senior national hockey team management includes Olympian Shakeel Abbasi, Olympian Dilawar Hussain, and Amjad Ali International as the goalkeeper coach. Physical trainer Mohammad Imran will fulfill his responsibilities, while the appointment of a video analyst will be decided later.PHF President Mir Tariq Hussain Bugti has issued immediate instructions to PHF Executive Secretary Ali Abbas to take charge of his responsibilities at the Pakistan Hockey Federation. Additionally, renowned penalty corner specialist Olympian Khalid Bashir has been assigned the responsibilities of Director Administration and Coordination PHF.

Khalid Sajjad announces to go to court against his removal
Abdul Jabbar FaisalISLAMABAD: “I am still president of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), and I will pursue to court against the illegal and unconstitutional act of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, who imposed the ad-hoc on the hockey federation without any solid reason. I am elected president, and I will raise my voice at all national and international forums, including the International Hockey Federation (FIH), and the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Khalid Sajjad Khokhar said this while addressing a press conference here at his residence in F-11/4 on Saturday flanked by Akhlaq Usmani and Asif Naz Khokhar.Sajjad Khokhar further said that an unconstitutional person occupied the PHF office in Lahore today (Saturday) along with some gunmen. “Unfortunately, owing to the wrong briefing, the PM took an illegal action, as I and my team had put the national game hockey on track. I spent millions of rupees from my pocket to facilitate the players and sent them abroad for international competitions. After the completion of the tenure of a president PHF, the Prime Minister has powers to nominate any person to run the affairs of the federation for the next term, “he elaborated.Responding to a question, Khalid Sajjad Khokhar said that he was avoiding any conflict with anyone. “I have a right to pursue court for my respect and I will knock on the doors of courts for justice. There is no legal position of ad-hoc. Some people are deliberately trying to destroy national game hockey, and the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) misleads the high-ups regarding the hockey federation, as all affairs of the federation were running smoothly. Unconstitutional steps will hurt all sports. Annual grants are also not disbursing on merit and unknown federations get in millions while national game hockey gets a peanut, who brought laurels for the country. Chess federation receives Rs.40 million while Tenpin pockets 10 million from the government, ‘ex-army man Brig (Retd) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar concluded.

National Hockey Training Camp to start today in Islamabad

Pakistan will participate in the Olympic qualifying round, which will take place from January 15 to 21, 2024 in Oman.PHF directed all 39 players to report team manager and camp commandant Olympian Shehbaz Ahmed Senior. Besides Pakistan, teams from England, Germany, New Zealand, Malaysia, Canada, Chile, and China will participate in this event. PHF appoints Asif Bajwa as chairman National Selection Committee
Sports Bulletin ReportLAHORE: President, Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Brigadier (Retd) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar has said that the president International Hockey Federation (IHF), Rabindra Batra was responsible for shitting the Olympics qualifying round from Pakistan to Oman after expressing security concerns, as many international teams had been visiting Pakistan for many years.He was addressing a press conference at PHF Headquarters here flanked with Olympian Rana Mujahid Ali, Secretary General PHF, Parvez Bhandara, Olympian Asif Bajwa, Olympian Shehbaz Ahmed Senior and announced the new National Selection Committee while appreciating the work of the previous National Selection Committee. “Asif Bajwa will be the chairman of the selection committee while Olympian Kaleemullah Khan has been appointed as the chief observer. Olympian Anjum Saeed, Olympian Zeeshan Ashraf, Olympian Kamran Ashraf have also been included in the selection committee. While the manager of the national team, Olympian Shehbaz Ahmed Senior, head coach Roelment Oltamens, Olympian Shafqat Malik, Olympian Kashif Jawad, video analyst Abuzar umrao, while the manager of the five-a-side World Cup, Olympian Waseem Feroze, chief coach Olympian Qamar Ibrahim and Olympian Sheikh will be among the coaches. Usman and Olympian Mohammad Khalid will be the coaches. While Olympian Nasir Ali and International Rana Shafiq have been appointed as coordinators of PHF, “he revealed.He said that former FIH President Rabindra Batra was responsible for withdrawing the hosting of the Olympics qualifying round while some countries also expressed security concerns after which the hosting of the Olympics qualifying round was withdrawn from us. “We have a good relationship with the Indian Hockey Federation but we should not be compared with them. We get a budget of 65 lakh rupees annually for hockey, while in India the budget of 2.5 billion rupees is allocated for hockey, “he said.In addition, PHF President Brig. Khalid Sajjad Khokhar paid tribute to Haier owner Javed Afridi for his full support for the betterment of the national game in the 2018 World Cup.He further said that in the same way, all the public and private organizations should play their role along with PHF to bring back hockey to its lost position.
