Mentor Shahid Zaman Khan wishes to serve Pakistan Squash
Islamabad (Abdullah Asjad):Shahid Zaman Khan is Ready to Serve Pakistan The Time to Act is NowShahid Zaman Khan, one of the most accomplished and respected figures in modern Pakistani squash, has delivered a clear and powerful message: he is ready to serve Pakistan and the time to act is now.Born in Quetta Cantt into a family where squash is not just a sport but a legacy of national service, Shahid Zaman Khan represents a lineage deeply woven into Pakistan’s sporting history. He is the son of Gul Bahadur Khan, the legendary coach of Balochistan, whose tireless efforts shaped generations of players. From his mother, Shamim Gul sister of the great Qamar Zaman, famously known as “The Master of Strokes” he inherited brilliance and flair. From his father, discipline, resilience, and a lifelong commitment to developing others.Across an extraordinary 32-year journey in professional squash, Shahid Zaman Khan has not only competed he has carried Pakistan’s honor on his shoulders. Spending 16 years on the PSA Tour, he secured international titles, rose to a career-high world ranking of No. 14, and remained Pakistan’s No. 1 for several years. At every stage, he represented the country with pride, professionalism, and unwavering determination. In recognition of his outstanding services to the sport and his dedication to Pakistan, Shahid Zaman Khan was awarded the Pride of Pakistan on 14th August 2025, conferred by the President of Pakistan with acknowledgment from ISPR. This national honor is not merely an award it is a symbol of a lifetime devoted to excellence, integrity, and national pride. After his playing career, Shahid did not step away he stepped forward. For 16 years in the United States, he worked at elite institutions including The Tennis and Racket Club, Equinox, Boston University, Wellesley College, and Harvard Business School. He made history as the first Pakistani squash professional to coach at Harvard breaking barriers and carrying Pakistan’s legacy into the world’s most prestigious environments. In 2012, he founded SZK Squash LLC, building a modern, high-performance training system rooted in discipline, structure, and mental strength. His work has produced not just players, but complete athletes capable of competing and winning at the highest levels.Yet, despite global success, his connection to Pakistan has never weakened. He played a crucial role in preparing his nephew Hamza Khan for his historic World Junior Championship victory in 2023, ending a 37-year drought for Pakistan. In 2025, Noor Zaman’s rise to world champion further signaled that Pakistan’s sleeping giant is ready to awaken. But Shahid Zaman Khan is not waiting for change he is creating it.Returning to Quetta, he has already begun rebuilding from the ground up. Without seeking recognition, he donated equipment, organized six junior tournaments unprecedented in the city’s history and personally trained young players. His mission is clear: revive Pakistan squash through grassroots development, structure, and vision. Now, his message to the nation and its institutions is direct and uncompromising:“This is the time to give back to Pakistan. I have dedicated 32 years to professional squash as a player and as a coach and I am ready to give everything I have to Pakistan’s junior players. If given the opportunity, I am prepared to serve and help take Pakistan squash back to the top of the world.”This is not a request. This is a call to action. At a time when Pakistan squash struggles with inconsistency, lack of direction, and missed opportunities, Shahid Zaman Khan offers something rare: proven international experience, a modern vision, and unquestionable sincerity. He is not asking for titles, positions, or recognition he is offering service backed by results.Pakistan has never lacked talent. What it has lacked is structure, leadership, and the courage to place responsibility in the right hands.

HBL-PSL: Multan Sultans beat Rawalpindiz by six wickets
Karachi (PCB Report):Steve Smith hit a composed half-century as Multan Sultans romped to their sixth win chasing the 167-run target set by Rawalpindiz in the 31st match of the HBL Pakistan Super League 11 here at the National Bank Stadium, Karachi on Tuesday’s double-header day. On Wednesday, Karachi Kings will take on Peshawar Zalmi in the first match at the Gaddafi Stadium, while Multan Sultans will return to face Hyderabad Kingsmen at the National Bank Stadium. Sultans are placed second on the points table with 12 points, while Rawalpindiz have copped their eighth straight loss. Opting to bat first, the Rawalpindiz were struck two early blows by Multan Sultans’ new ball duo of Muhammad Imran and Peter Siddle. Shahzaib Khan fell for a four-ball duck to Imran, while Siddle got rid of Yasir Khan to reduce Rawalpindiz to 6-2 in two overs. It was at this juncture that Daryl Mitchell and Mohammad Rizwan came together to stitch a 63-run stand off 50 balls. The duo was quiet till the fifth over with Rawalpindiz 19-2 before they hit Arafat Minhas for a six and a four to take 14 off the sixth. Arafat returned to break the partnership in the 11th over after Rawalpindiz were 67-2 at the halfway mark. That the Rawalpindiz were able to score 99 off the last 10 overs was largely due to Dian Forrester’s unbeaten 37 off 15 balls and Mitchell’s unbeaten 58 as they stitched 45 off 20 balls for the fifth wicket. Sam Billings (29, 20b, 2x4s, 1x6) walked in at 69-3 in the 11th over and helped keep the innings on track putting on a 52-run stand with Mitchell. Mohammad Wasim Jnr came on to remove Billings in the 17th over. Forrester hit three fours and three sixes in his aggressive outing. His boundaries came in the last three overs in a set of six and four each. Mitchell, who hit his 28th T20 half-century and fourth in HBL PSL, struck three fours and two sixes as Rawalpindiz finished with 166-4 in 20 overs. In turn, Sultans reached the target with eight balls to spare and six wickets in the bag. Smith hit 56 off 31 balls with the help of five fours and three sixes, in which he looked at his best. It was his second HBL PSL half-century and 31st in T20s. After Sahibzada (20, 17b, 4x4s) was castled by Asif Afridi for the first of his two wickets in the fourth over, Smith and Philippe (17, 19b, 1x4) shared a 69-run stand, which was largely dominated by the former. Shan Masood contributed 20 off 22 balls hitting just one four after Philippe and Smith fell to Asif and Saad Masood, respectively in consecutive overs with Sultans 100-3 in 11.3 overs. Skipper Ashton Turner remained unbeaten for 37 off 21 balls and made sure to finish the game hitting three fours and one six in his outing, while Arafat was seven not out off three balls with the help of one four. Asif’s two wickets came for 28 runs in four overs, while Razaullah and Saad dismissed one batter each. Scores in brief:Rawalpindiz 166-4, 20 overs (Daryl Mitchell 58 not out, Dian Forrester 37 not out, Sam Billings 29, Mohammad Rizwan 26; Mohammad Imran 1-9) Multan Sultans 167-4, 18.4 overs (Steven Smith 56, Ashton Turner 37 not out, Sahibzada Farhan 20, Shan Masood 20; Asif Afridi 2-28)Player of the Match – Steven Smith (Multan SultansWednesday’s fixtures:Karachi Kings v Peshawar Zalmi at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore; 2.30pm PKTHyderabad Kingsmen v Multan Sultans at National Bank Stadium, Karachi; 7pm PKT

HBL PSL 11: A glance at teams’ progress after 26 matches
Karachi (Sports News): The HBL Pakistan Super League 11 has seen a total of 26 matches till 17 April with Peshawar Zalmi, Islamabad United, Quetta Gladiators and Hyderabad Kingsmen having played seven matches each. Multan Sultans, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars and Rawalpindiz have so far played six matches each. Out of the remaining 14 league matches, five are set to be played at Gaddafi Stadium with Quetta, Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar set to be in action there. At the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, the remaining nine league matches will be played till the 26 April double-header. The Qualifier between the top two teams will be played on 28 April at the National Bank Stadium. The third and fourth-placed teams will then lock horns in Eliminator 1 on 29 April in Lahore. The losing team of the Qualifier and winner of the Eliminator 1 will be pitted against each other on 1 May in Eliminator 2 in Lahore as well to decide the second finalist. The final of the HBL PSL 11 between the winners of the Qualifier and Eliminator 2 will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on Sunday, 3 May. Following is the breakdown of how all the teams fare before the playoffs and final: 8. Rawalpindiz: The newcomers to the HBL PSL have lost all their six matches and are out of the playoffs race. For them the remaining four matches are a great opportunity to finish the season on a high. For three of the four oppositions those matches could carry a lot of importance with respect to qualification so the Rawalpindiz can play spoilsport if they win some. Upcoming fixtures: v LQ on 18 April, v MS on 21 April, v IU on 23 April, v HK 26 April Top run scorer so far: Sam Billings – 188 runs Top wicket-taker so far: Mohammad Amir – 8 wickets 7. Lahore Qalandars: The defending champions have beaten Hyderabad Kingsmen and Multan Sultans so far with the latter being a 13-over rain-hit affair. Three of their four losses have come in Karachi, where they have been bowled out for 100 in 18.3 overs, 97 in 17 overs and 134 in 19.5 overs. At the same turf, they now face the prospect of a must-win match today against Rawalpindiz before flying out to face Quetta, Karachi and Peshawar in Lahore. Winning all four games promises a total of 12 points, which will certainly ensure a fourth place at least. Losing even one of the games will almost force them out albeit a tie of 10 points with any of the teams enters into a net run rate battle and theirs is currently -1.020.  Upcoming fixtures: v RP on 18 April, v QG on 21 April, v KK on 23 April, v PZ on 25 April Top run scorer so far: Haseebullah – 123 runs Top wicket-taker so far: Shaheen Shah Afridi – 11 wickets 6. Karachi Kings: The 2020 champions have blown hot and cold in their six matches. They beat Quetta, Lahore and Rawalpindiz to open their campaign with confidence in Lahore, but then lost to Peshawar, Hyderabad and Islamabad in Karachi. They were also without captain David Warner in the last two games who sat out with back pain.In ascending order on the table, Karachi Kings (-1.501 NRR), Hyderabad Kingsmen (-0.470 NRR) and Quetta Gladiators (+0.483) are three teams tied on six points but separated by net run rate. Karachi can gain a maximum of 14 points but for that they will have to beat Multan, Peshawar, Lahore and Quetta. In that case, Karachi will upend Lahore and Quetta’s prospects and automatically be above Kingsmen.Upcoming fixtures: v MS on 19 April, v PZ on 22 April, v LQ on 23 April, v QG on 25 April Top run scorer so far: Azam Khan – 187 runs Top wicket-taker so far: Hasan Ali – 10 wickets 5. Hyderabad Kingsmen: The Hyderabad Kingsmen have made a remarkable turnaround in their campaign so far winning three matches back-to-back and jumping to fourth for once after losing their first four games. Glenn Maxwell’s addition has brought balance to the side and coincided with a shift in results, while Hassan Khan, Marnus Labuschagne and Hunain Shah have earned player of the match awards in the three wins so far. They now face the steep challenge of beating second and third placed Islamabad United and Multan Sultans, while they will be up against Rawalpindiz in their last league match. Wins in these three matches will give them a maximum of 12 points, which could still turn out to be precarious if they don’t maintain a better net run rate.Upcoming fixtures: v MS on 22 April, v IU on 24 April, v RP on 26 April (afternoon game) Top run scorer so far: Marnus Labuschagne – 203 runs Top wicket-taker so far: Mohammad Ali – 9 wickets 4.
