Dream Team Win Federal Female Club Basketball Tournament
ISLAMABAD (PR): Dream Team defeated Warriors Club 30-20 in the final to win the Federal Female Club Basketball Tournament at Hamidi Hall, Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad on Tuesday. The tournament was organized by “Right to Play” in collaboration with Alliance Française and under the supervision of the Federal Basketball Association.The French Ambassador, Nicolaos Galey, and his wife, Camelia Galey, were the chief guests at the closing ceremony. Also in attendance were Ouj E Zahoor, General Secretary of the Federal Basketball Association, Ali Khayam, Country Director for Right to Play, and other dignitaries.Ambassador’s wife, Camelia Galey, a former professional basketball player in Algeria and France, played an active role in the event. Not only did she kickstart the tournament, but she also offered coaching tips to the participants during the competition.In the final match, Dream Team triumphed over Warriors Club, winning 30-20. Maria Soratgar was a standout player for the winning team, scoring 10 points, while Humna Roohi contributed 8 points. Noor Fatima was the top scorer for Warriors Club, with 10 points.Speaking at the event, French Ambassador Nicolaos Galey said: "This event allows us to promote the spirit of the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games here in Pakistan. It is essential for us to contribute to the organization of a women’s tournament. Gender equality and the promotion of women’s rights are priorities for French diplomacy. Social equality and inclusion are equally important."A total of eight amateur teams from different areas of Islamabad participated in the tournament, which was held under the theme of "Equal Playing Field."

The event is organized by Right to Play, in collaboration with Alliance Française, under the supervision of the Federal Basketball Association.Federal Secretary for Education Mohiuddin Wani graced the opening ceremony as a chief guest while Fabrice Disdier, representing Alliance Française, was the guest of honour. Ali Khayam, Country Director for Right to Play, and Ouj E Zahoor, General Secretary of the Federal Basketball Association were present on this occasion. The wife of the Ambassador of France, a former international basketball player, and the wife of the Polish Ambassador were special guests in the ceremony.The tournament features eight teams from across Islamabad, showcasing the best female basketball talent in the city. The event aims to promote sportsmanship, provide a competitive platform for players, and highlight the growing interest in women’s sports in the region.“We are delighted to see such incredible talent and dedication from our female athletes,” said Federal Secretary Mohiuddin Wani during his opening remarks. “This tournament is a testament to the potential of women’s sports in Pakistan, and we are committed to supporting initiatives that empower young athletes.bRight to Play and Alliance Française have partnered for this tournament with the goal of fostering greater female participation in sports. Timber Wolves lift All Pakistan Ramadan Cup Basketball Title
ISLAMABAD (Press Release): Timber Wolves Islamabad defeated YMCA Lahore in a decisive battle to win the club category final of the All Pakistan 3x3 Ramadan Cup Basketball Tournament here at Pakistan Sports Complex.In the final of the club category of the six-day tournament organized by the Federal Basketball Association, YMCA Lahore dominated in the final till mid of the match with 10-6 points but Ali Hamza Kazmi showed some impressive performances in the last two minutes to help six consecutive points for Timber Wolves team and changed the game in their favour and won the final with 18 points against 14.Ali Hamza Kazmi scored 14 points and Sher Shehzad scored four points for the winning side while Khalid Saadi scored seven points and Muhammad Salman scored five points for YMCA.President Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF), Brigadier (Rtd) Mohammad Iftikhar Mansoor who was the chief guest of the closing ceremony appreciated the efforts of the tournament organizing secretary Ouj E Zahoor and all other members for providing the best arrangements for this tournament and said that Pakistan Basketball Federation will continue their efforts to promote basketball in the country specially to organize such events in the future as well so that the youth get an opportunity to show the essence of their abilities.Deputy Director General Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Mohammad Saeed Akhtar, Pakistan Basketball Federation Associate Secretary and Organizing Committee Secretary Ouj E Zahoor, President Federal Basketball Association Ejaz Rafi Butt, PBBF Chairman Selection Committee Col. Ramadan Cup: Timber Wolves, YMCA, Bulls A reach in semifinals
ISLAMABAD (PR): Timber Wolves, YMCA, Bulls A, and Reapers Red reached the last-four stage in the Club category of the All Pakistan 3x3 Ramadan Cup Basketball Tournament here at the Outdoor Basketball courts of Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad.According to tournament organizing secretary Ouj E Zahoor, Under the supervision of the Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) with the support of the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) 48 clubs are taking part in the club category of the tournament organised by the Federal Basketball Association (FBBA) in three different categories. In the club category quarterfinal round, Timber Wolves outclassed Mustang club by 21-12 points in a one sided match. Ali Kazmi scored 12 and Mohammad Osama scored 6 points for the winning side.YMCA thrashed United Kings in the second quarterfinal as YMCA commanded the match all the time with 21-15 points which they maintained their lead till the end. Mohammad Hamza scored 8 while Hammad Ali scored 6 points for YMCA.  In the third quarter final Bulls A beat Bulls B by 17-14 points while Reapers Red thrashed Raptors White 20-8 points to enter into the last four stage in the club category. 
Raptors win first DHA Inter-Club Ramadan Basketball Tournament
Abdul Jabbar FaisalRAWALPINDI: The inter-Club Ramadan Basketball Tournament concluded at DHA Sector E Basketball Courts, which was held under the banner of Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Rawalpindi in collaboration with the Federal Basketball Association (FBBA) from March 20-25, 2024.According to an official, as many as 12 teams participated in the tournament, which were divided into 4 groups. Top 2 teams of each group qualified for the quarterfinals. After quarterfinals, Wah Reapers, Raptors, United Kings, and Dynamites moved into the semifinals. United Kings beat Dynamites in a thrilling match by 4 points whereas Raptors beat Wah Reapers by 12 points.Final match was played between United Kings and Raptors, as it was nerve-jangling contest. Raptors overcame United Kings with the 2 points margin. The final score-line was 89-87 in the favour of Raptors. The winners received a glittering trophy and collected Rs. 50,000 cash prize of the first edition. United Kings pocketed Rs.30, 000 cash prize with a runners-up with trophy.Many distinguished guest were present at the venue to enjoy a beautiful game of basketball including Director Sports DHA Brig Salim Nawaz, Deputy Doctor Sports, Malik Mohammad Riaz, Col Shujaat Ali Rana, Major Saleem, Dr Ouj Zahoor, Azam Dar along with organisers Dr Rohail, Usman Awan, Owais Butt and sizeable spectators.Imtiaz Rafi Butt, Senior Vice President, Pakistan Basketball Federation graced the closing ceremony as a chief guest. A three-day FIBA Referee Workshop commences in Islamabad
Mohammad Azam DarISLAMABAD: To improve the basketball standards and skills of the technical officials of basketball, the Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) took some significant steps, as the federation started a FIBA Referee workshop on Thursday aiming for the growth and development of basketball referees here at Pakistan Sports Complex.The Federation of International Basketball Associations (FIBA) qualified referee Instructor, Abdul Karim Shakeb from Bahrain will conduct the 3-day workshop, who was appointed by FIBA Asia. Shakeb's extensive experience and knowledge are expected to be instrumental in enhancing the skills of local referees and officials.Prior to the main event, a National Referee Workshop was conducted at the same venue, the Sports Complex in Islamabad. Over 40 referees participated in this preparatory workshop, which aimed to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge for the upcoming FIBA Referee workshop.The National Referee Workshop received guidance and instruction from key figures in the basketball community. The Associate Secretary of the Pakistan Basketball Federation and FIBA Commissioner Ouj E Zahoor played a pivotal role in organizing and conducting the workshop, in collaboration with the National Referees Board.Secretary Referees Board Prof. Siraj Ul Haq Qureshi and members of the board former FIBA referee Yaqoob Qadry and Saadat Jehangir contributed their expertise by conducting training sessions during the National Referee Workshop. Their valuable insights and mentorship are expected to enrich the skills of the referees who will soon partake in the FIBA Referee workshop.This initiative by the Pakistan Basketball Federation not only emphasizes the commitment to improving the quality of officiating in basketball but also aims to strengthen Pakistan's presence on the international basketball stage. The FIBA Referee workshop is poised to be a significant step forward in achieving these objectives, as it equips local referees with the knowledge and skills necessary to officiate international basketball events effectively.
A two-day FIBA Basketball for Good program concludes in Multan
Sports Bulletin ReportMULTAN: A Two-day coaching workshop under the umbrella of International Basketball Federation "FIBA Basketball for Good program" concluded on Sunday, which was attended by a large number of players and coaches from all over Pakistan.According to a spokesman for the Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF), Mohammad Azam dar, the two-day workshop was organized under the supervision of Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF). Secretary General Khalid Bashir at Multan while Riaz Malik, the head coach of the national basketball team, along with other coaches Umer Mehmood, Saadat Jahangir, Mohammad Naveed delivered the lectures and demonstration on coaching skills, training, modern techniques, and basketball games in different sessions to the participants.One of the most important aspects of this FIBA Basketball for Good program was helping participants to understand the relationship between a coach and the players. At the end of the coaching workshop, certificates were distributed among the participants by Secretary General of Pakistan Basketball Federation Khalid Bashir along with Chief Executive of Lucky Beverages Chaudhry Sajjad Ali.

Save Tomorrow series of events', is a hope that brings together youth, communities, sports enthusiasts, diplomats and supporters to promote healthy living, remember those lost to drug overdose, and prevent future tragedies.Save Tomorrow 7 featured thrilling basketball matches between national teams, both male and female, showcasing the talent and sportsmanship of our athletes.  In the men’s match, Pakistan Greens emerged victorious against strong Pakistan white team by 56 points against 54. Mohammad Shiraz showcased his talent and determination, securing 19 points while Mehtab scored 16 points for the winning side.In a women’s match, Pakistan Army beat Islamabad by 30-21 points. Amna Mohsin scored 12, Zobia Bibi 6 and Imad Ahmed scored 4 points to play their vital role for team Army victory. The winning and runners-up teams were awarded prestigious trophies and all participating players received gold and silver medals.

He was followed by Raheel Gill, who contributed 9 points to the Timberwolves' victory. On the Rockets' side, Ramzee showcased his talent and determination, securing 12 points, with Ahmed putting forth a commendable performance as well, scoring 10 points. The match was officiated by a team of proficient referees Umer Mahmood, Yasir Ghaffor, and Farhan (Navy).  The distinguished gathering of sports enthusiasts and professionals witnessed Deputy Director General Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Shahid Islam, gracing the event as the chief guest while President of the Federal Basketball Association (FBBA) Ejaz Rafi Butt, was present as the guest of honor. Basketball promotes under the leadership of Mohammad Iftikhar in Pakistan

The federation has successfully organized various national events in recent times. Pakistan basketball team recently participated in the 5 Nation Basketball Championship at Maldives and showed impressive performance under the flag of the same Pakistan Basketball Federation.During an interview, he emphasized that the current PBBF is duly affiliated with esteemed sports governing bodies, namely the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), Pakistan Olympic Association (POA), and International Basketball Federation (FIBA). The federation has diligently organized national fixtures for both men and women at various levels, contributing significantly to the promotion of the sport across the country.Furthermore, he clarified that the elected body is also affiliated with FIBA (Asia) and holds associations with all major seven departments, provincial, and divisional basketball associations.
