National Rugby Championship: WAPDA beat Army 17-0 to win title
Sports Bulletin ReportLAHORE: Pakistan WAPDA won the 25th Men's Parco National Rugby Championship 2024 for the first time after defeating the Army team 17-0 in the final.A large number of spectators and families attended the Sunday’s matches of the Parco National Championship, including female rugby players who came to support the teams. In the first semifinal, Pakistan Army defeated Punjab Yellow, while in the second semifinal, Pakistan WAPDA overcame Islamabad Jinns. Punjab Yellow demonstrated impressive gameplay in the third and fourth positions, defeating Islamabad Jinns 15-10 in the final moments. In the final, WAPDA players showcased exceptional performance from the very first half. WAPDA's Amsal scored a try in the second minute of the first half, and in the ninth minute, Aamir scored another try, which was converted by Aamsal to make the halftime score 12-0. Despite considerable effort from the Army team in the second half, WAPDA's Afzaal scored another try early on, which remained intact until the end of the match and Wapda clinched the championship by beating the defending champions Army 17-0. The closing ceremony was graced by Sharon Dias, General Manager of Group Corporate Affairs at Parco. The event was also attended by Chaudhry Arif Saeed, President of the Pakistan Rugby Union, Chairman Fauzi Khawaja, Secretary Salman Sheikh, and a large number of officials from WAPDA Sports Board, Pakistan Army Sports Board, and former rugby players.

Kashmir Solidarity Rugby: Lahore Hawks beat Islamabad Jinns 26-5 final
Sports Bulletin ReportLAHORE: Hosts Lahore Hawks outplayed Islamabad Jinns 26-5 in the final of the Kashmir Solidarity 10s Rugby Tournament that concluded here on Monday. Winners were up 07-0 at half time.Under the auspices of Pakistan Rugby Union, Lahore Rugby Football Club (LRFC) organized the 1st LRFC Kashmir Solidarity 10s Rugby Tournament with the corporation Servis Tyres at Pakistan Rugby Academy Lahore. Four teams participated in this one-day event, of which LRFC, Lahore Hawks, Islamabad Jinns, and Desert Camels Fort Abbas are the teams.Lahore Hawks beat Islamabad Jinns in the final by 26-5 and won this event. At half time, the score was 07-05. From Lahore Hawks, Amsal and Amir score two and two tries each, while Umer scores one and some conversions by other players. From Islamabad jinns, Sohaib scored only one try.Before that, league matches were played between four teams: in the first game, LRFC beat Desert Camels 29-05, Islamabad Jinns beat Desert Camels 24-0, Lahore Hawks beat LRFC 17-15, Lahore Hawks beat Desert Camels 19-0, and LRFC beat Islamabad Jinns 19-21. In 3rd and 4th position matches, LRFC beat Desert Camels 24-7.In the end, chief guest, President of Pakistan Rugby Union and Director of Servis Tyres Ch. Arif Saeed, along with chairmen PRU Fawzi Khawaja, distributed trophies and prizes. At this moment, many former players of Punjab Rugby, LRFC officials Tariq Naiazi, Haji Anwar, Umer Uaman, Mohammad Baber, Mohammad Pasha, Mohammad Waseem, and others also witnessed this event.

Rugby News: Pakistan to host Men’s Division-! Matches in Lahore
Sports Bulletin ReportLAHORE:-Pakistan will host the Asia Rugby Men’s Division-1 matches scheduled for the 4th and 8th of July against the United Arab Emirates (UAE),  secretary, Pakistan Rugby Union (PRU) Salman Sheikh to reporter here on Saturday, as the winner would secure a berth in the Asia Rugby Championship next year 2024.He further said, “In 2022, the Pakistan Rugby Union (PRU) appointed South African Gert Mulder as the Head Coach for the Asian Rugby Division II Tournament 2022 which they won against Thailand. The South African will again be in charge this year for the two-match tie.”Pakistan Head Coach said:“It is an honour to continue leading the Pakistan National Rugby Team as we embark on this new chapter in our journey. The promotion to ARC Division-1 is a testament to the team’s hard work and progress. While the competition will undoubtedly be tougher, I have full faith in our players’ capabilities. We will face each challenge head-on and strive to make our mark in the elite division of Asian rugby.”Secretary PRU said, “The ARC Div 1 2023 will see Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) play two matches on the 4th and 8th of July, in Lahore and the team that accumulates the most points will win and “secure a berth in the Asian Rugby Championship, edging closer to the ultimate dream of qualifying for the World Cup,”Questioned on his return to Pakistan, Mulder said: “It is an honour and privilege to lead the Pakistan National Rugby Team once again as we embark on this new chapter in our journey to eventually gain the opportunity of testing ourselves against powerhouses like Hongkong, South Korea, and Malaysia.“The promotion in 2022 to the Division I Asia Cup Championship is a testament to the team's hard work and progress. While the 2023 competition will undoubtedly be much tougher, I have full confidence in the players' abilities. We will take on every challenge head-on and strive to make our mark in the elite division of Asian rugby.“Finally, I am personally better prepared because the environment is familiar to me, and I am aware of the challenges and what it takes to overcome them. Rugby League: Lahore Hawks overcome Desert Campbells 24-23 in final
Sports Bulletin ReportLAHORE: Lahore Hawks team edged out Desert Campbells Rugby Club by 24-23 in the final to win the 8th Servis Tyres Rugby League, well-organized by Pakistan Rugby Union (PRU). At half time, Lahore Hawks had a healthy lead of 17-3. In the second half, the Fort Abbas players played brilliantly and came back into the game. The first try was scored by Israr, the second by Muneeb and the third by Dawood while Ahmed Wasim scored a try by Lahore Hawks in the second half. All the tries were scored by Desert Campbells Fort Abbas in the second half, with Umar Daraz scoring two and Wasim one. The chief guest of the final was President Pakistan Rugby Union Chaudhry Arif Saeed. He was accompanied by PRU Secretary Salman Sheikh, Moazzam Shah, Shakeel Malik, Punjab rugby officials and a large number of rugby lovers.Earlier, Director Servis Tyres Ch Arif Saeed was introduced to the players and then the match started. In this 15-a-side league, the teams of Lahore Hawks and Desert Campbells Fort Abbas won two matches each, while the teams of Lahore Rugby Football Club and Islamabad Jinns won one match each. Therefore, the last match had become the final for both the teams, in which Lahore Hawks and Desert Campbells teams played very well, but Lahore Hawks team was able to win the Servis Tyres 15-a-side Rugby Championship for the first time by only one point. In the closing ceremony, Pakistan Rugby Union President Chaudhry Arif Saeed distributed trophies and prizes among the players. The man of the match was awarded to Dawood Gul of Lahore Hawks while man of the tournament was awarded to Aqib Siddiqui of Desert Campbells Rugby Club.

15-a-side Championship: Lahore Rugby Football Club win opener
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: Lahore Rugby Football Club (LRFC) thrashed Desert Campbell Rugby Football Club (DCRFC) Bahawalnagar by 22-5 in the Servis Tyres 15-a-side Rugby Championship 2023 first match played here on Sunday. The inaugural match of the Pakistan Rugby Union's most premier league event at Lahore was witnessed and enjoyed by Rizwan Malik, Haji Anwar, Mohammad Zubair, Shakeel Malik, Syed Moazzam Ali Shah, Asim Ali and a large number of rugby players were present. At the end of the first half, the score was 22-0 while in the second half, Desert Campbell team tried to bounce back by playing a great game, but the defence of the Lahore Rugby Football Club appeared to be quite strong and comfortably won the match.  Saim, Tauqeer, Irfan and Imran scored one try each from Lahore Rugby Football Club while Zain scored the conversion. Wasim scored the only try from Desert Campbell Rugby Club. In this way, teams of Islamabad Jinns and Lahore Rugby Football Club have won one match each in the Division One.

Noor Rugby Club win Darrah Adam Khail Under-16 Tournament
Sports Bulletin Report PESHAWAR: Noor Rugby Club have won the Darrah Adam Khail Under-16 Tournament that held under the banners of Pakistan Rugby Union (PRU) aiming to flourish the game at lower level and to provide occasions to junior players. According to an official, Pakistan Rugby Union is organizing the tournament all over Pakistan in different age groups’ 7s and 15s events at the various locations of Pakistan. In Khyber Pakhutan Kawa (KPK) Darrah Adam Khail Under-16 tournament was held which was won by Noor Rugby Club. 3 cities participated in this junior activity including Noor Rugby Club from Darrah Adam Khail, Pakthons Rugby Club Noshera and Aspirian Rugby club Peshawar. The first game which was ended 0-0 draw between Noor RFC and Aspirian RFC and in 2nd game Pakhtons beat Aspirian by 15-0 and in 3rd and last game before final Noor RFC beat Pakhtons by 27-0. After the league games Noor RFC and Pakhtons RFC qualify for final which was reply of league game Noor RFC beat Pakhtons by 5-0 and won the Under 16 Rugby cup 2023. In the concluding ceremony chief guests Major Yasin (Frontier Core), Sajid Khan Afridi District Sports Officer Kohar and Noor Aslam Executive Committee member Pakistan Rugby union distributed trophies.
