Pak Lions win last league match of 20-K Cup

LAHORE: Pak Lions outshone Pindi Gymkhana Cricket Club by 69 runs in the last league match of the 20-K Cup 2023 T20 Cricket Tournament here on Saturday at Pindi Gymkhana Ground.
The quarterfinals will commence on Sunday (January 22). The first quarterfinal of this prestigious event will be contested between City Gymkhana Cricket Club and Cricket Center Cricket Club here at the Pindi Gymkhana Cricket Ground at 11:00 am. The victory of Pak Lions had no impact on the standings of the team as they couldn’t qualify for the quarterfinals.
Ali Umar’s brilliant unbeaten knock of 105 runs off 54 balls with the help of 11 boundaries and 6 sixes is the highlight of the exciting last league match of the one of the premier club tournaments of the country, that carries highly lucrative prize money on offer for the winners and top performers. It will also play a key role in the promotion and betterment of club cricket in the country. Nabeel Ahmad, who himself is a former first-class cricketer, has been organizing this tournament in the memory of his late father, Col Fateh Sher Khan.
Pak Lions, batting first, posted a mammoth total of 233-6 in allotted 20 overs, thanks to superb century by hero of the day Ali Umar. Abdullah Zubair also contributed well in the team’s total by hitting 69 runs off 41 balls and Haris Khan unbeaten 20 off 7 ball. Asfand Mehran and Awaix Malik bagged 2 wickets each while Ali Ansar and Umair Anjum got one wicket each.
Pindi Gymkhana, in reply, could score 164-6 in 20 overs. Zaid Butt emerged as top scorer with 39 runs while Ali Hassan contributed with 35, Asfand Mehran 21 and Mohammad Abdullah 16 runs. Haris Khan was wrecker-in-chief of Pindi Gymkhana batting line up as he clinched 4 wickets for 13 runs while Abdullah Zubair claimed 2 wickets. For his outstanding batting display, Ali Umar was declared player of the match.

LAHORE: Cricket Center Club, City Gymkhana Cricket Club and Ludhiana Gymkhana Club recorded contrasting wins in the 20-K Cup 2023 T20 Cricket Tournament here at various venues on Friday.
Superb all-round performance of Bilal Asif (37 runs & 2-17) helped Cricket Center Club defeat Shinning Club by 3 wickets in the 37th match of the tournament. Shinning Club, batting first, scored 131-9 in 20 overs. Umar Dar and Ali Raza hammered 36 runs each while Zain Bin Farooq hit 20 runs. Bilal Asif and M Waheed bagged 2 wickets each.
Cricket Center replied strongly and chased the target in 18.3 overs, losing 7 wickets. Bilal Asif slammed 37 runs while Ali Zafar hit 28 and Tariq Nawaz 20. Usman Ali took 2 wickets and Hammad Ali and Ali Hamza got one wicket each.
All-rounder Jahangir Mirza (33 runs & 2-14) steered City Gymkhana to a thrashing 72-run triumph over Prince Club in the 38th match of the tournament. City Gymkhana, batting first, posted a huge total of 180-8 in 20 overs with Jahangir Mirza smashing superb 33 runs while Rana Arslan and Waseem Akram contributed with 25 and 21 runs respectively. Zeerak Ghazi and Ammar Tariq grabbed 2 wickets each.
Prince Club failed to chase the target and could score 108-8 in 20 overs. Only Shoaib Arshad (24) and Shams ud Din (28) batted sensibly. Jahangir Mirza claimed 2-14 while Rana Arslan and Usama Tariq got one wicket each.
Fahad Munir (39 runs) batted Ludhiana Gymkhana to a convincing 6-wicket victory over Shah Faisal Club in a low-scoring 39th match of the tournament. Shah Faisal, batting first, could score 94 runs in 20 overs. Ali Manzoor cracked unbeaten 32 runs while Muhammad Ilyas hit 32. Imran Ali, Tanveer Aslam and Kashif Siddique took one wicket each.
Ludhiana Gymkhana comfortably chased the target in 10.4 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. Fahad Munir thrashed tremendous 39 runs while M Waqas scored 26 runs and Asim Ali Nasir unbeaten 22. Subhan Malik bagged 2 wickets for 10 runs. The only match of Saturday (January 21, 2023) will be played between Pindi Gymkhana and Pak Lions.

LAHORE: Model Town Whites, City Gymkhana Cricket Club and Ali Garh Cricket Club emerged as triumphant in the K-20 Cup 2023 T20 Cricket Tournament matches played on Thursday.
All-rounder Naveed Malik excelled in Model Town Whites’ thrashing 9-wicket victory over Yu Slim Club in the 34th match of the tournament. Naveed Malik not only smashed scintillating 59 runs but also clinched 3 wickets for 16 runs to emerge as player of the match.
Yu Slim Club, batting first, could score 119-9 in 20 overs. Safeer Azam struck 43 and Amir Jamil 22 runs. Naveed Malik bagged 3-16, Aon Shahzad 2-20 and Shahab Khan 2-28. Model Town Whites easily chased the target in 10.2 overs, losing just 1 wicket. Naveed Malik hammered 59 and Aon Shahzad hit 40. Majid Majeed took the only wicket.
A brilliant batting performance by Rana Arslan steered City Gymkhana to a 20-run win over Lucky Star Club in the 35th match. Rana Arslan not only cracked classic 75 runs but also got one wicket that helped him become a player of the match.
City Gymkhana, batting first, posted a huge total of 186-10 in 20 overs. Rana Arslan was top scorer with 75 runs while Muhammad Bilal scored 47 and Rizwan Haider 30 runs. M Subhan bowled extremely well and clinched 6-10 while Daniyal Hanif took 2-25. Lucky Star could score 166-8 in 20 overs. Zain ul Hassan slammed 61 while Junaid Ali hit 39 and Zeeshan Khadim 24 runs. Saad Athar grabbed 4-20 and Abdul Rehman took 3-29.
Zeeshan Ashraf guided Ali Garh Club to a thumping 8-wicket triumph over Shah Faisal Club in the 36th match. Zeeshan Ashraf was in sublime form and hammered 70 runs to emerge as man of the match.
Shah Faisal Club, batting first, scored 128 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. M Ilyas scored 27 runs, Gohar Hafeez 19 and Naimat Ullah 17 runs. Faraz Ahmad claimed 3 wickets for 40. Ali Garh comfortably chased the target in 14.3 overs for the loss of just 2 wickets. Zeeshan Ashraf made superb 75 and Nouman Ali 41 runs.
On Friday (20th January 2023), three matches will be played. Cricket Center will play against Shinning Club in the 37th match of the tournament at Model Town Greens ground, Prince Cricket Club will compete against City Gymkhana Cricket Club in the 38th match at Ittefaq Cricket Ground while in the 39th match of the tournament at Model Town Club, Shah Faisal Cricket Club will vie against Ludhiana Gymkhana Cricket Club.
20-K Cup 2023: Quarterfinals stage to start from Sunday

LAHORE: Five more matches were decided in the 20-K Cup 2023 T20 Cricket Tournament as the event is moving towards quarterfinals stage that will begin from 22nd January (Sunday).
On Wednesday, Model Town Club, Ali Garh Club, Shahkamal Club, Valencia Gymkhana and Model Town Greens registered contrasting victories in their respective matches played here at the different venues of the city.
Model Town Club defeated Township Whites by four wickets in the 31st match of the tournament. Township Whites, batting first, couldn’t start well and also failed to pile up a good total as they were bundled out for 94 runs in 16.3 overs. Only M Faiq (22), Kamran Afzal (16), Shoaib (15) and Naeem Khan (13) crossed the double figures. Umaid Asif and Afaq Afridi bowled brilliantly and grabbed 3 wickets each while Hassan Rizwan bagged 2 wickets.
Model Town Club chased the target in 18.2 overs for the loss of 6 wickets. Haider top-scored with 29 runs while Mohammad Saleem and Obaid Shahid contributed with 20 and 14 runs. Afaq Afridi was named player of the match.
Ali Garh Club edged past Ludhiana Gymkhana Club by 2 wickets in the 32nd match. Ludhiana Gymkhana, batting first, posted a huge total of 188-8 in 20 overs with Kashid Siddiue (34), Tanveer Islam (33) and M Junaid (22) playing superbly. Ali Shafiq claimed 3-36 and Ahsan Bhatti 2-15.
Ali Garh Club reached home safely in 19.5 overs, losing 8 wickets. Zeeshan Ashraf hammered 79 and Faraz Ahmad fired 50. Tanveer Islam clinched 4-23 and Saeed Ullah 2-38. Zeeshan Ashraf was declared man of the match.
Shah Kamal Club routed Yu Slim Club by 40 runs in the 30th match. Shahkamal Club, batting first, scored 178-10 in 19.5 overs with Azizullah cracking 71, Hamza Ahmed 28 and Imran Nazir Jr 20. Mohsin Nadeem secured 4-19, Haider Butt 2-43 and Aamer Jamal 2-31.
Yu Slim Club couldn’t face the outstanding bowling of Mohammad Arslan (6-16), thus losing all their wickets for 138 in 19.4 overs. Only Mohsin Nadeem (44) and Safeer Azam (25) resisted their opponents well but couldn’t save their team from facing the defeat. Besides Mohammad Arslan, Faheem Faisal bagged 2-43. Azizullah was adjudged as player of the match.
Valencia Gymkhana thumped Shah Faisal Club by 85 runs in the 33rd match. Valencia Gymkhana scored 172-6 in 20 overs with Attyab Ahmad smashing 66 and Farhan Yousaf 48. Ali Manzoor claimed 2-27. Shah Faisal Club, in reply, were bundled out for 87 runs in 18.1 overs. Hassan Hameed grabbed 4-11, Saifullah 2-15 and Ibtisam Azhar 2-11.
Model Town Greens defeated Pak Lions in 29th match of the tournament. Batting first, Model Town Greens scored 172-9 in 20 overs with Taimoor Khan scoring 38 and Mirwais Khan 30. Niaz Khan secured 4-36. In reply, Pak Lions could score 158-9 in 20 overs with Afzal Tahiri hitting 36 and Hassan Nawaz 35. Mirwais Khan claimed 5-24 to emerge as player of the match.
On Thursday (January 19, 2023), Model Town Whites will take on Tu Slim Club in the 34th match of the tournament, Lucky Star will face City Gymkhana in 35th match and Shah Faisal Club will play against Ali Garh Club in the 36th match.

LAHORE: Four more matches decided in the 20-K Cup 2023 T20 Cricket Tournament here at various venues on Tuesday.
All-round Shahrukh Ali guided Township Whites to a 43-run victory over Prince Club in the 25th match of the tournament. Township Whites, batting first, posted 164-8 on the board in 20 overs with Shahrukh Ali smashing 33-ball 55 and while Hamza Akbar slammed 37. Asif Ghafoor claimed 3 wickets 25.
Prince Club failed to chase the target and were all out for 121 in 19.4 overs. Only Burhan Riaz (35), Ammar Tariq (16) and Sham ud Din (12) batted well. Shoaib bagged 3-19 while Shahrukh Ali, Mohammad Yasin and Kamran Afzal took two wickets each. Shahrukh Ali was named player of the match.
Awais Zafar’s century steered Model Town Greens to a superb 7-wicket success over Golden Star Cricket Club in the 26th match of the tournament. Model Town Greens, batting first, posted a mammoth total of 200-7 in 20 overs. Awais Zafar hammered unbeaten 111 runs off 48 balls with the help of 6 fours and 10 sixes. Bilal Dar fired a fabulous fifty (56) for the winning team. Mohammad Junaid got 4 wickets and Abrar Ahmad took two.
Shinning Club routed Model Town Whites by 52 runs in the 27th match of the tournament. Shinning Club, batting first, scored 152-5 in 20 overs. Ulfat Rasool cracked unbeaten 56 while Rao Khayyam struck 34 and Abdul Salam 27. For Model Town Whites, M Ikhlaq captured 3 scalps.
Brilliant bowling by Zahid ul Hassan (4 for 12) helped Shinning Club restrict Model Town Whites to 100-9 in 20 overs. Rao Khayam also bowled well and bagged 2 for 22. Farhan Khan slammed 29 runs and Mohammad Ikhlaq 13 runs respectively for Model Town Whites.
Ali Garh Club emerged as triumphant by 7 wickets against Apollo Club in the 28th match of the tournament. Apollo Club, batting first, piled up a low total of 114-7 in 20 overs. Usaid Amin scored 34 and Reyan Nadeem 18. Ali Shafi and Shahid Bhutta grabbed two wickets each and Ali Usman one.
Ali Garh Cricket Club chased the target comfortably for the loss of just 3 wickets in 13.1 overs. Mohammad Faizan hammered 37 runs and Zeeshan Ashraf 28 and Hazrat Wali 21. Nisar Ahmad, Mohammad Rameez and Umair Butt got one wicket each.
On Wednesday (January 18, 2023), five matches will be played at different venues in the city. In the 29th match of the tournament, Model Town Greens will take on Pak Lions, in the 30th match, Yu Slim Club will face Shah Kamal Club, in the 31st match, Model Town Club will play against Model Town Whites, in the 32nd match, Ludhiana Club will vie against Ali Garh Club and in the 33rd match, Shah Faisal Club will compete against Valencia Gymkhana.

LAHORE: Model Town Club, Shahkamal Club, and Ludhiana Club registered victories in the 20-K Cup 2023 T20 Cricket Tournament matches played here at different venues on Monday.
Model Town Club outwitted City Gymkhana by 88 runs in the 23rd match of the tournament here at the Moden Town Club Ground. Model Town Club, batting first, scored 168 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Arslan Bajwa played a superb knock of 45 runs of 30 balls while his teammates Irfan Rasheed (26), Danyal Ahmed (24) and Umaid Asif (12) also contributed significant runs in their team’s total. For City Gymkhana, Saad Athar bowled brilliantly and grabbed 3-29, Usama Tariq 2-18 and Jahangir Mirza 1-40.
City Gymkhana’s run-chase was badly hampered by outstanding bowling by Irfan Rasheed (3-22), Umaid Asif (3-15) and Hassan Rizwan (2-27) as they were bundled out for 80 runs in 17 overs. Hussain Ali scored 13 and Usama Tariq 12. For his all-round performance, Irfan Rasheed was declared player of the match.
Shah Kamal Cricket Club defeated Model Town Whites by 32 runs in 22nd match here at the Ittefaq Cricket Ground. Shahkamal Club, batting first, posted 188-8 in the allotted 20 overs. M Abdullah played sensational knock of 82 runs off 44 balls while Imran Nazir Jr cracked 33 and Hamza Ahmed 23 runs. Shamas Khan bowled well for MT Whites by claiming 4-28.
Model Town Whites replied well but they couldn’t finish well, thus losing the match by 32 runs as they could score 156-10 in 19.1 overs. M Nouman and Aon Shahzad batted well and scored 43 and 40 runs respectively. Outstanding bowling by Faheem Faisal (3-24) and M Arslan (3-19) made things easy for Shahkamal Club and helped them score an easy victory. M Abdullah was name man of the match.
Ludhiana Club toppled Valencia Gymkhana Cricket Club by 7 wickets in the 24th match of the tournament here at Model Town Greens Ground. Valencia Gymkhana, batting first, could score 132-6 in 20 overs. Former Test cricketer Azhar Ali played an impressive unbeaten knock of 77 while Hassan Hameed struck 33 runs. For Ludhiana Club, Saeed Ullah, Imran Ali and M Junaid bagged 2 wickets each.
Ludhiana Club were off to a flying start and comfortably chased the target, losing just 3 wickets in 16.2 overs. Fahad Munir hammered convincing unbeaten 71 while Ahmer Ashfaq scored unbeaten 25 and M Waqas 24. For Valencia Gymkhana, Ismael, Hassan and Ibtisam got one wicket apiece. Fahad Munir was adjudged as player of the match.
20-K Cup 2023: Akhlaq stars in Apollo Club win against Valencia Gymkhana

LAHORE: Mohammad Akhlaq steered Apollo Club to a 15-run triumph over Valencia Gymkhana Cricket Club in the 21st match of the 20-K Cup 2023 T20 Cricket Tournament match at Pindi Gymkhana Cricket Ground on Sunday.
Apollo Club started their innings strongly and succeeded in posting a huge total of 195 runs on the scoreboard losing just four wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Both the openers Mohammad Akhlaq and Hashim Ibrahim batted with authority and scored 44 runs for the first-wicket partnership. Mohammad Ishfaq provided the first breakthrough to Valencia Gymkhana when he sent packing Hashim Ibrahim on his personal score of 16 runs.
After that player of the match Mohammad Akhlaq and Rehan Nadeem stitched the significant 94-run second-wicket partnership before Mohammad Akhlaq losing his wicket at his individual score of 83 runs off 44 balls that included 5 boundaries and 7 sixes. Reyan Nadeem was the next, who was sent back to the pavilion when he was playing at 43. He played 40 balls and hit 1 four and 3 sixes.
Abyaz Rizvi was also a key contributor from Apollo Club as he smashed 18-ball 35 runs with the help of 1 four and 3 maximums. No other batter of Apollo Club then could cross the double figures. For Valencia Gymkhana, Azhar Ali, Mohammad Ishfaq, Mohammad Abbas and Ismael Mohammad got one wicket apiece.
Valencia Gymkhana Cricket Club though replied well and tried their best to win the match, yet they couldn’t finish the game well, thus losing the encounter by 15 runs. Test batter Abid Ali played the scintillating knock of 47 runs off 31 balls with the help of 4 boundaries and 3 sixes while Farhan Yousaf struck 20-ball 36, hitting 6 fours. The other notable scorers from Valencia Gymkhana were former Test cricketer Azhar Ali, 21 off 14 balls, Hassan Hameed, 17 off 17 balls, and Ali Dilshad, 16 off 6 balls, but their efforts proved in vain in the end.
From Apollo Club, Mohammad Rameez was wrecker-in-chief of Valencia Gymkhana batting line up as he bowled brilliantly and secured three scalps for 46 runs. Umair Butt, Asad Rafiq and Nisar Ahmad claimed two wickets each. Mohammad Akhlaq was declared player of the match.
The tournament, which is a regular annual event, aims at reviving and promoting cricket at club level. It is being played in the memory of Col Fateh Sher Khan and its sole sponsor is Nabeel Ahmad, who is a former Pakistani cricketer now based in America.
On Monday (January 16, 2023), three matches will be played. Model Town Whites will play against Shah Kamal Cricket Club in the 22nd match at Ittefaq Cricket Ground, Model Town Club will compete against City Gymkhana in the 23rd match at Moden Town Club Ground while Ludhiana Gymkhana will vie against Valencia Gymkhana Cricket Club in the 24th match of the tournament at Model Town Greens Ground.
Sadam Bats P&T Gymkhana to victory in 20-K Cup 2023

LAHORE: Superb batting by Sadam Khan batted P&T Gymkhana to a convincing 63-run victory over Pindi Gymkhana here at the Pindi Gymkhana ground on Saturday.
P&T Gymkhana, batting first, posted a decent total of 173 runs for the loss of seven wickets in allotted 20 overs. Sadam Khan emerged, as top-scorer with a sparkling knock of 60 runs off 31 balls that included 5 fours and 4 maximums. The other key contributors from the winning team was Yawar Bashir, who hammered 31-ball 32 runs while Manzoor Khan smashed unbeaten 29 runs off 12 balls.
Umar Anjum bowled brilliantly for Pindi Gymkhana as he clinched four wickets for 42 runs while Aneeq Mushtaq bagged 2 wickets for 23 runs and Asfand Mehran took one wicket for 29.
Outstanding bowling by Kramat Ali of P&T Gymkhana restricted Pindi Gymkhana to 110 runs for the loss 9 wickets in 20 overs. Aneeq Mushtaq scored 28-ball 37 runs while Asfand Mehran hit 15 and Wasif Khan 14 runs. Kramat Ali grabbed four wickets for 17 runs and he was ably assisted by Imran Hassan, who bagged 3 wickets for 23 runs and Asad Raza and Manzoor Khan got one wicket each.
For his brilliant batting display, Sadam Khan was named player of the match. On Sunday (January 15, 2023), Apollo Club will compete against Valencia Gymkhana Cricket Club in the only match of the day at Pindi Gymkhana ground at 10:30 am.

LAHORE: Model Town Club (MTC) and Cricket Center Club (CCC) recorded easy victories in the 20-K Cup 2023 T20 Cricket Tournament here on Friday.
Mohammad Saleem steered Model Town Club to a 6-wicket victory over Lucky Star Club in the 19th match of the tournament. Batting first, Lucky Star Club scored 136 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Zain ul Hassan was the top scorer as he hammered 44 runs off 38 balls. Other key contributor was Junaid Ali, who struck 28 runs of 25 balls. For Model Town Club, Afaq Afridi claimed 3-22 and Irfan Rasheed took 2-20.
Model Town Club replied well and chased the target losing four wickets in 18.1 overs, thanks to brilliant batting by Mohammad Saleem, who smashed 45-ball 64 runs while Amir Sajjad cracked 26 runs and Farman Ali 23 runs. Mohammad Subhan, Abuzar Zafar and Qasim Akram got one wicket each for Lucky Star Club.
The 18th match of the tournament was won by Cricket Center, who defeated Shahkamal Cricket Club by 6 wickets. Shahkamal Club, batting first, posted 135 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Hamza Ahmad slammed unbeaten 51 runs while Sheraz Ali scored 27. Ali Zafar clinched 3-23 and Qaiser Ashraf took 2-36.
Cricket Center comfortably chased the target losing four wickets in 19.3 overs. Anas Mahmood batted strongly and cracked 39 runs while Tariq Nawaz struck 37 and Ali Zafar unbeaten 17 runs. For Shahkamal Club, Mukaram Ali, Sheraz Ali and Arslan Ilyas got one wicket each.
On Saturday (January 14, 2023), the only match will take place between Pindi Gymkhana and P&T Gymkhana at Pindi Gymkhana ground.

Pak Lions thrashed P&T Gymkhana by 10 wickets in the 15th match of the tournament here at Model Town Greens ground. P&T Gymkhana, batting first, gathered 131-8 in the allotted 20 overs. Karamat Ali (36) and Saad Najam (32) batted well. Niaz Khan, Umar Farooq and Afzal Tahiri captured two scalps each.
Helped by clinical performances of openers Hassan Nawaz (105 off 35 balls) and Afzal Tahiri (27 of 11 balls) guided Pak Lions to a thrashing 10-wicket triumph. For his outstanding batting performance, Hassan Nawaz was named player of the match.
Shinning Cricket Club defeated Yu Slim Cricket Club in the 16th match of the tournament by 62 runs here at Model Town Club ground. Batting first, Shinning Club posted 169-10 in 20 overs. Rao Khayyam was top scorer with 56 runs while Ulfat Rasool struck 24 and Zain Bin Farooq hit 23. Mohsin Nadeem claimed 3-31, Awais Munir 2-20 and Haider Butt 2-28.
Yu Slim Club, in reply, could score 107-6 in 20 overs. Safeer Azam (29), Majid Majeed (23) and Arslana Sajid (22) played well. Hammad Ali clinched 3-15 while Rao Khayyam, Ali Hamza and Zahir got one wicket each.

Township Whites, batting first, posted a good total of 192-8 in 20 overs with Shahrukh Ali scoring 61, Mohammad Faiq 41 and Rana Ayan Ali 40. Abdul Rehman and Usama Tariq bagged 2 wickets each.
City Gymkhana replied strongly and chased the required target losing just four wickets in 19.1 overs. Rizwan played the hero’s knock of 90 runs of 39 balls to emerge as player of the match.
