Army players snatch the National Netball Championship title from WAPDA
Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Army snatched the men’s title after beating defending champions Pakistan WAPDA 30-27 in the final of 22nd National Netball Championship here at Liaqat Gymnasium Pakistan Sports Complex on Tuesday. WAPDA claimed women’s title. The men’s final was thrilling, as the players of both teams exhibited top-quality games. In the first quarter, the winners were 2 points ahead but the rest of the three quarters 7 minutes each were entertaining. After completing the second quarter the match was leveled at 17-17, as after the penultimate quarter the score was 21-21. However, when the referee rang the final whistle the scoreboard was showing 25-25.     To make the decision of champion, the jury gave the extra time of 4 minutes, as the Army athletes were quick and got the vital lead at the start, as the match finished at 30-27. Mohammad Iqbal and Mohammad Wasim scored 17 and 13 points for Pakistan Army respectively while Zain Hussain scored 27 points for Pakistan WAPDA. Earlier, in the women's final, Pakistan WAPDA defeated Sindh by 7-16 points. Nisha Sultan scored 11 points for Pakistan WAPDA and Quratul Ain scored 7 points for Sindh. Before the finals, 3rd position play-off matches were played, Pakistan Air Force defeated Pakistan Navy by 13-23 points in the men's event. Akhtar scored 23 points for Pakistan Air Force while Babar Manan scored 13 points for Pakistan Navy. In the women's third position match, Pakistan Army defeated Higher Education Commission by 18-30 points. Ayesha got 24 points for Pakistan Army while Khadija got 12 points for Higher Education Commission. Twelve teams from across the country participated in the championship. Chairman, Pakistan Netball Federation (PNF) and former IG Police (R), Zafar Iqbal Awan was the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the championship who distributed trophies, medals and certificates to the winning players.  President PNF Mudassar Arain, Senior Vice President Sameen Malik, Secretary General, Syed Gohar Raza, Directors, PSB Saeed Akhtar and Mohammad Waheed  Khan were also present.

WAPDA and Sindh reached in the women’s final. Mohammad Ibrar, Director General Pakistan Sports Board was the chief guest on semifinals. Deputy DG, PSB, Shahid Islam, President, Pakistan Netball Federation (PNF), Mudassar Arian, Vice President Sameen Malik and Secretary General, Syed Gohar Raza were also present on the occasion. Karachi Powerlifting Championship: Wolf Pack Club clinch title with 4 golds
Sports Bulletin Report KARACHI: The Wolf Pack Club grabbed 4 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals to lift the title of the COMBAXX Karachi Powerlifting Championship organized by the Pakistan Powerlifting Federation (PPF) and Karachi Division Powerlifting Association (KDPA) with the support of Combaxx Sports at Beach View Club here. Energetics Club emerged as the ultimate runners-up by winning 3 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medals while Karachi Gymkhana won 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medal to secure third place in the championship. The winners' Wolf Pack Club got a total of 92 points while the runners-up Energetics Club got 87 points and Karachi Gymkhana secured 31 points. Shehroze won in the 59kg category while Sarmad won in the 66kg category, Mohammad Taha in 74kg, Ahmad Irfan in 83 kg, Mohammad Jahangir in 93 kg, Nasruminullah in 105 kg, Nadir Khan in 120 kg, and Murad Ikram in plus 120 kg wins the gold medal. Saad Asif completes World Academy of Sports course for athletes
Sports Bulletin Report KARACHI: Pakistan Olympic Association's nominee, Saad Asif has completed the World Academy of Sports online course for athletes. This was an online course developed for student athletes aged between 15 and 18 years. It was targeted at those athletes who want to gain a broader understanding of the tools needed to become successful and knowledgeable athletes. It may be mentioned here that the Commonwealth Games Association (CGA) of every 72 countries had nominated two athletes each to participate in this course. The course was consisted of 5 key areas that were designed by experts and officials that had been working with athletes for a long time. At the end of every module, there was a test which included MCQs regarding the information on that particular topic. Every participant needed to secure above 75 percent to claim the certificate. Balochistan 32-member delegation to visit Nishtar Park Sports Complex
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE (January 11, 2023): A 32-member delegation including 10 females from Balochistan arrived in Nishtar Park Sports Complex under Youth Exchange Programme under the leadership of Director Youth Affairs Balochistan Ejaz Ali on Wednesday. Seven male and female national level karate, cricket and wushu players and 21 students from different colleges and universities were also part of Balochistan delegation which is on a 4-day visit of provincial metropolis on the invitation of Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab. The Balochistan delegation also called on Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab Musarrat Jabeen at Punjab Stadium. Talking to delegation Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab Musarrat Jabeen said that the visit of Balochistan delegation under Youth Exchange Programme is definitely a useful activity. “This kind of trips played a key role in giving valuable exposure to young boys and girls of the country and this practice should continue in future”. The members of Balochistan delegation visited different departments and sports facilities in Nishtar Park Sports Complex such as Punjab Stadium, Tennis Stadium, State-of-the-Art Tennis Courts, Punjab International Swimming Complex, NPSC Gymnasium Hall and National Hockey Stadium, E-Library, Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and Punjab Safe City Authority (PSCA). During their E-Library visit, the members of guest delegation were given briefing about multiple facilities, functions and features such as Youth Helpline and Co-Working Space etc. Director Youth Affairs Syed Umair Hassan on this occasion warmly welcomed the Balochistan delegation. “Youth Exchange Programme will promote national unity and brotherhood among youth. Through this programme, the youth of Punjab and Balochistan will get an opportunity to learn from each other,” he added. Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Para Sports Festival from January 11
Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD: The 1st Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Para Sports Festival will be held from January 11 to 16, 2023 at National Coaching Center Karachi. According to the president Pakistan Blind Sports Federation (PBSF) Mohammad Waqas Warraich, PBSF will oragnise the event in with the collaboration Chief Minister Sindh, Minister Sports & Youth Affairs, Sindh, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs, Sindh and Pakistan Sports Board (PSB). As many as 160 male and female players from all over the country will participate 6-day fixture. Five sports disciplines including Archery, Baseball, Goalball, Chess, and Athletics will be held during the special sports festival.

Shiraz Asif wins Olympic Council Asia Seminar, Quiz Competition
Sports Bulletin Report KARACHI: Young talented Shiraz Asif of the Softball Federation of Pakistan has won the first position in the quiz competition of the seminar on the importance of mental health in sports competitions organized under the auspices of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and the Pakistan Olympic Association Athletes Commission. In the quiz competition on the first day of the seminar, Shiraz Asif won the first position by getting 66.67 points in one minute and 34 seconds. Haroon Sarwar Butt of the Pakistan Karate Federation secured second place by scoring 50 points in two minutes and 17 seconds while Badminton Federation's Ali Nawab secured the third position with a time of 2 minutes and 25 seconds scoring 50.00 points. More than 60 players and officials from more than 30 federations participated. It should be noted that the athletes of the Softball Federation of Pakistan have won the top position for the third year in a row. At the end of the seminar, the President of the Pakistan Olympic Association Lt. General (retd) Syed Arif Hassan, International Hockey Federation President Tayyab Ikram, Vice Chancellor of Lahore College for Women University Dr. Bushra Mirza and Secretary General POA Mohammad Khalid Mehmood gave shields and other prizes to the players, who won positions and put up a remarkable performance. Speaking on the occasion, Gen Arif Hassan said: “The quiz competitions are aimed to make the players mentally stronger. It was a pleasure to see that the players know their game along with their skills in the field of sports. Potohar Sports Festival: Exciting competitions are in full swing
Sports Bulletin Report RAWALPINDI: The exciting competitions of Potohar Sports Festival 2022 are in progress at different venues of Rawalpindi division under the auspices of Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab on Thursday. The competitions of 10 games including arm-wrestling, hockey, athletics, kabaddi, tug-of-war, badminton, cricket, martial arts, football and volleyball are being organised in the Potohar Sports Festival in which more than 5,000 male and female players are exhibiting their talent. It is worth-mentioning that Sports Board Punjab is organizing Potohar Sports Festival in Rawalpindi division with an aim to provide better sports facilities to youth of the region. The teams from six districts of Rawalpindi division including Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Murree and Talagang are participating in the grand event. Assistant Commissioner Rawalpindi, Deputy Director (B&A) Nadeem Qaiser and District Sports Officer Rawalpindi Shamas Tauheed Abbasi distributed prizes among the winners and prominent performers in some of the competitions which concluded on Wednesday evening.
