Basketball News: Pakistan Whites win Save Tomorrow 7 Basketball event
Sports Bulletin ReportISLAMABAD: Pakistan Whites have won the commemorative basketball event aiming to “Raise Drug Overdose Awareness” by defeating Pakistan Greens 56-54 points at Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad on Saturday.After a thrilling contest witnessed by fully crowded local audience, Dr. Youssef Filali Meknassi UNESCO Country Representative - Ambassador Italian Ambassador to Pakistan Andrea Ferrarese and Albana Ferrarese, KKAWF Christian von Frentz, Country head of USEFP Rita Brunn- Fullbright, Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) Associate Secretary Ouj E Zahoor, Pakistan basketball team coach Malik Mohammad Riaz amongst the other dignities were present during the event. Tomorrow 7 Sports event organized by the Karim Khan Afridi Welfare Foundation (KKAWF), in collaboration with the Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF), United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP), and Serena Hotel Islamabad.This is the seventh event of its highly successful "Save Tomorrow" series of KKAWF's programme 'Sports is the Answer'. Save Tomorrow 7 showcase the best of national basketball team players. The event’s aim was to raise awareness of overdose and in reducing the stigma surrounding drug-related deaths, in honour of International Overdose Awareness Day. Save Tomorrow series of events', is a hope that brings together youth, communities, sports enthusiasts, diplomats and supporters to promote healthy living, remember those lost to drug overdose, and prevent future tragedies.Save Tomorrow 7 featured thrilling basketball matches between national teams, both male and female, showcasing the talent and sportsmanship of our athletes.  In the men’s match, Pakistan Greens emerged victorious against strong Pakistan white team by 56 points against 54. Mohammad Shiraz showcased his talent and determination, securing 19 points while Mehtab scored 16 points for the winning side.In a women’s match, Pakistan Army beat Islamabad by 30-21 points. Amna Mohsin scored 12, Zobia Bibi 6 and Imad Ahmed scored 4 points to play their vital role for team Army victory. The winning and runners-up teams were awarded prestigious trophies and all participating players received gold and silver medals.
Islamabad Timberwolves win Independence Day Basketball Match
Sports Bulletin ReportISLAMABAD:  Aug 15: Islamabad Timberwolves emerged victorious over their rivals Islamabad Rockets 52-49 in a thrilling basketball match of the Independence Day celebrations here at Hamidi Hall Pakistan Sports Complex.Ali Hamza Kazmi of the Timberwolves demonstrated remarkable skill and finesse on the court, leading his team as the top scorer with an impressive 19 points. He was followed by Raheel Gill, who contributed 9 points to the Timberwolves' victory. On the Rockets' side, Ramzee showcased his talent and determination, securing 12 points, with Ahmed putting forth a commendable performance as well, scoring 10 points. The match was officiated by a team of proficient referees Umer Mahmood, Yasir Ghaffor, and Farhan (Navy).  The distinguished gathering of sports enthusiasts and professionals witnessed Deputy Director General Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Shahid Islam, gracing the event as the chief guest while President of the Federal Basketball Association (FBBA) Ejaz Rafi Butt, was present as the guest of honor. Alongside them, the notable attendees included National Coach Riaz Malik, Rana Nasrullah, Fitness Expert from Pakistan Sports Board, Azam Dar, Director, Administration PBBF.Addressing the audience, General Secretary of FBBA, Ouj E Zahoor, extended a warm welcome to all the esteemed guests and participants. Their presence not only added gravity to the occasion but also highlighted the significance of promoting basketball as a popular sport in Pakistan.Culminating the event on a high note. This basketball match served as an exciting element of the Independence Day celebrations, which were organized collaboratively by the Pakistan Sports Board and the Pakistan Basketball Federation.
Basketball promotes under the leadership of Mohammad Iftikhar in Pakistan
Sports Bulletin ReportISLAMABAD: A spokesman for the Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF), Mohammad Azam Dar, has stated that the elected body of PBBF is actively functioning under the leadership of President Brigadier (Retd) Mohammad Iftikhar Mansoor and Secretary General Khalid Bashir. The federation has successfully organized various national events in recent times. Pakistan basketball team recently participated in the 5 Nation Basketball Championship at Maldives and showed impressive performance under the flag of the same Pakistan Basketball Federation.During an interview, he emphasized that the current PBBF is duly affiliated with esteemed sports governing bodies, namely the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), Pakistan Olympic Association (POA), and International Basketball Federation (FIBA). The federation has diligently organized national fixtures for both men and women at various levels, contributing significantly to the promotion of the sport across the country.Furthermore, he clarified that the elected body is also affiliated with FIBA (Asia) and holds associations with all major seven departments, provincial, and divisional basketball associations. Moreover, the federation's recognition by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Government of Pakistan further validates its status as an esteemed member of the international basketball community.He also expressed concern about misleading information being disseminated to the public and sports enthusiasts regarding the status of PBBF. He assured that the federation continues to operate with transparency and dedication, aiming to foster the growth and development of basketball in Pakistan.

Basketball: Pakistan overpower Bangladesh 84-64 to reach in semifinals
Zain (19), Mohammad Umair (19), and Abdul Wahab (11) earn points for Green ShirtsSports Bulletin ReportMale (Maldives):-Pakistan men’s basketball team outplayed Bangladesh 84-64 to win their last group match in the five-nation Basketball Tournament in Maldives on Sunday and Gren Shirts confirmed their berth in the semifinals after this big win.Pakistan dominated Bangladesh from the very first moment of the game scoring 20 points in the first quarter, as their opponents had 15 points. However, Bangladesh showed some resistance in the second quarter, taking a slight 37-34 lead. In the third quarter, Pakistan pushed Bangladesh against the wall as they only managed to score seven points while Pakistan scored 22 points to extend their lead to 56-44. Pakistan continued their dominance in the last quarter and won the match by 84-64 to secure a place in the semifinals.Pakistan’s Zain ul Hasan Khan and Mohammad Umair Jan scored 19 points each while Abdul Wahab scored 16 points, Ziaur Rahman 11 and Shehbaz Ali, Umeer and Zia scored three points each.

Basketball News: Pakistan beat Maldives 65-63 in 5-nation fixture
Sports Bulletin ReportMale (Maldives):-Pakistan overcame hosts Maldives by 65-63 in their second fixture of the five-nation International Basketball Tournament after a thrilling four-quarters contest here on Friday. Pakistan faced a defeat in the first match at the hands of Nepal.In the second match, the Pakistani player did well to overcome the hosts, as they were ahead 40-34 after halfway.  Zain-ul-Hasan was the top scorer with 22 while Zia-ur-Rehman and Emmad Ahmed were other major contributors with 15 and 13 points.

Basketball News: Islamabad and WAPDA qualify for final
Islamabad beat Karachi Green, WAPDA outclass Lahore in Women’s Championship semifinalsSports Bulletin ReportKARACHI:-Islamabad and WAPDA qualified for the final of the National Women’s Basketball Championship after beating their opponents Karachi Greens and Lahore respectively 34-29, 70-20 here on Friday.In the first semifinal, Pakistan WAPDA outclassed Lahore 70-20, as Kainat was the topper with 29 points while Sherish and Amina contributed 10 and 7 points in the team’s total after completing all four quarters. Faryal, Feroze, and Hadiqa scored 5, 4, and 2 points for Lahore.Meanwhile, in the second semifinal, Islamabad’s women created history after defeating Karachi Green by 34-29 in a well-contest game. Asima, Amina, and Marium scored 13, 9, and 8 points respectively for the winners. Rida Noor was top scorer with 14 points while Hareem Zubair,  and Yumna Sohani scored 9, and 2 points.

Basketball News: Pakistan squad arrive in Male for 5-nation fixture
Sports Bulletin ReportMale (Maldives):-Pakistan Basketball team arrived here on Wednesday to participate in the five-nation international basketball championship 2023, which is scheduled to be kicked off on June 15 in the capital city Male.Besides, hosts Maldives, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal will fight for the championship title. The top four teams will qualify for semifinals of the championship.Pakistan will play their first match against Nepal on June 15 while green shirts will be in action against host Maldives on June 16. Pakistan will play third league match against Bhutan on June 17 and will play his last match against Bangladesh on June 18. Basketball News: Federation Names Squad for 5-nation Fixture
Mohamad Shahbaz Ali to lead Pakistan in the international basketball championshipAbdul Jabbar FaisalISLAMABAD:-The four-man selection committee of Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) headed by Khalid Bashir named a 10-player squad for the upcoming 5-nation international basketball championship starting from June 15, 2023, in the Maldives. Col (Retd) Shujaat Ali Rana, Mohammad Riaz Malik, and Modood Jafri were members of the selection committee.According to an official of PBBF, after getting the official affiliation with Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) this year 2023, the top management of PBBF headed by Brig. (R) Mohamad Iftikhar Mansoor and Secretary General Khalid Bashir took vital steps to organize national events as well as send Pakistan teams abroad for international competitions. Besides Pakistan, Maldives, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal will take part in the five-nation fixture, which will be held from June 15 to 22, 2023 in Male, Maldives.Secretary PBBF Khalid Bashir said:“The five countries’ basketball event will be helpful for the Pakistan team to get good exposure, as our players will take part in an international competition after seven years. Basketball News: National Training camp begins again in Sports Complex

Basketball News: PBBF selects 25 players for national training camp
Sports Bulletin ReportISLAMABAD:-The selection committee of the Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) has selected 25 players for the national training camp after analyzing their performance in three-day trials at Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad, as the training camp will get underway from May 10 at the same venue.According to an official of PBBF, the three days trials were held to select the probable for the national camp under the control of PBBF, as 80 players from different affiliated units of federation took part in the trials.The national selection committee was headed by Col. (Retd) Shujaat Ali Rana, while the members of the committee included Mohammad Riaz Malik and Maudood Jafri, who shortlisted the names of the players for the training camp.Secretary PBBF, Khalid Bashir said:"The selection of basketball players for the national team is a complex process that involves a variety of factors. The selected players will go through extensive training plan to enhance their skills and fitness standard during national camp.
