Basketball News: PBBF selects 25 players for national training camp
Sports Bulletin ReportISLAMABAD:-The selection committee of the Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) has selected 25 players for the national training camp after analyzing their performance in three-day trials at Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad, as the training camp will get underway from May 10 at the same venue.According to an official of PBBF, the three days trials were held to select the probable for the national camp under the control of PBBF, as 80 players from different affiliated units of federation took part in the trials.The national selection committee was headed by Col. (Retd) Shujaat Ali Rana, while the members of the committee included Mohammad Riaz Malik and Maudood Jafri, who shortlisted the names of the players for the training camp.Secretary PBBF, Khalid Bashir said:"The selection of basketball players for the national team is a complex process that involves a variety of factors. The selected players will go through extensive training plan to enhance their skills and fitness standard during national camp. Pakistan team will participate in the four-nation championship to be held in Maldives this year and our main target to earn a position in international event as Pakistan team will taking part in any international championship after a long time.”Names of selected players:Hamza Bin Javed, Mohammad Shahbaz Ali, Atif Shah, Mohammad Shahid and Imad Ahmed (Army), Rana Haris Ahmed ( Faisalabad), Sameer Khan (Hayderabad), Sammar Abbas (Islamabad and Ali Hamza Kazmi (Islamabad), Zain Ali (Karachi), Safi Ullah Khan and Ibtisam Murtaza (Lahore), Mohammad Hamza (Multan), Zia Ur Rehman (Pakistan Navy), Mehtab Akram, Saqib-ullah Khan and Mohammad Umair Jan (Pakistan Air Force), Naeem Ullah and Abdul Wahab (Peshawar), Izhar Ullah (POF), Rana Mohammad Usman and Mohammad Usman (Police), Mohammad Hammad (Rawalpindi), Mohammad Sajawal (Sargodha) and Zain ul Hasan Khan (Pakistan WAPDA).

Basketball News: National Team’s trials to commence on May 5
Abdul Jabbar FaisalISLAMABAD:-The 3-day trials to select the national basketball will start from May 5, 2023 at Pakistan Sports Complex under the supervision of Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF), as the top national players have been invited for selecting process from all over the country; this was announced by Associate Secretary PBBF Ouj E Zahoor on Wednesday.“The top national basketball lads players nominated by the affiliated departments, provinces, and divisions of the Pakistan Basketball Federation will participate in the three-day trials, which will start on May 5 and continue till May 7 at the Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad, as the best performer will be picked up for Pakistan team, which will visit Maldives at the end of this year, “he further added.“The national selection committee headed by chief selector Colonel (retd) Shujaat Ali Rana and other members including Mohammad Riaz Malik, Malik Ijaz and Maudood Jafri will observe the participating players during the trials. The national selection committee will shortlist the names of the players for the training camp of the national basketball team after the three-day trials, “he said.“Pakistan will take part in a 4-nation basketball championship that will be in Maldives this year 2023. The secretary General PBBF Khalid Bashir will announce the training and coaching plan for the selected players as the national team will go through extensive training camp for the preparation of the international event, “he concluded.
Women Basketball Tournament: Lions B wins title
Mohammad Azam Dar ISLAMABAD: Lycans B becomes champion after defeating Lycans A by 11-5 points in the final of Federal Cup 3x3 Women's Basketball Tournament, organisied by Federal Basketball Association (FBBA) here at Multipurpose Court F-6 Islamabad. According to the secretary of Federal Basketball Association Ouj E Zahoor, the purpose of organizing women's tournament along with men's events is to encourage female basketball players so they could get opportunities to show their skills as six teams were competed in the one-day event. Federal Basketball Association President Ijaz Butt was the chief guest of concluding ceremony who along with former coach Malik Riaz and FBBA Secretary Ouj E Zahoor distributed prizes among the players. In the final of the tournament, Lycans "B" defeated Lycans "A" by 11 points against 05 with support of Sana Mahmood scored 5 points and Asma Shehryar scored 4 points while Rehana Naz of Lycans A scored two points. Earlier in the semi-final round, Lycans "B" defeated AK "A" by 11-7 points, while Lycans A defeated AK B by 13-6 points. The matches of the event were supervised by Moazzam Naveed and Mohammad Mudassar.
Islamabad Basketball News: Bulls B defeat Generals to win Federal Cup
Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD: Bulls B have clinched the title of the Federal Cup 3x3 Basketball Tournament after defeating the powerful Generals in the final by 11-05 points at F-6 Multipurpose Court, which was held under the banner of Federal Basketball Association (FBBA).  President FBBA Mohammad Ijaz Butt graced the occasion as the chief guest of the closing ceremony while General Secretary FBBA Ouj E Zahoor, Pakistan Team Basketball Coach Malik, Mohammad Riaz, Mohammad Azam Dar, DDG (Facilities), PSB Ch Saeed Akhtar and other dignities were also present during the closing ceremony. https://sports-bulletin.com/single?id=4823 In the decisive final Bulls B dominated throughout the match and never allowed their opponent to fight back for the tournament trophy. Zargham Khan scored 5 points and Irfan Hamid 3 points for winning, while Shumail Shukri scored 3 points for tem generals Earlier in the semi-final round, Generals defeated Timber Wolf (TW) B by 13-8 points and Bulls B defeated Raptors Reds by 13-6 points respectively. As many as 37 teams participated in the event which continued for four days.
Federal Cup: Raptors R, Bulls A, Generals, Hawks B move to next stage

According to Federal Basketball Association Secretary Ouj E Zahoor, 37 basketball teams in the men’s category are participating in the four-day tournament while six teams in the women’s category will also compete in the federal cup 3x3 basketball tournament.  Results:  Bulls A beat DHA Lakers by 14-9 points Raptors Red beat TW C by 12-9 points Thunders defeated Islamabad Hawks by 11-6 points, Generals defeated Spurs by 10-5 points, Hawks Blues defeated Hawks Reds by 13-08 points, TW A defeated DHA Rockets by 18-10 points, Bulls B defeated Net Reapers. 16-12 points TW B defeated City Reapers by 17-13 points
Islamabad Basketball News: Federal Cup Tournament reach in Round-II
Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Hawks, City Reapers, Bulls A, Raptors Red have qualified for the pre-quarterfinals round of the Federal Cup 3x3 Basketball Tournament organised by Federal Basketball Association (FBBA) at F-6 Multipurpose court, Islamabad. Islamabad Hawks defeated Bulls C by 18-11 points and reached the pre-quarter final round. In the second match, City Reapers won against Raptors White by 19-10 points, while in the third match, Bulls A won against Ball Magician A by 17-12 points. Raptors Red beat Ball Magician B by 20-16 points, Thunders beat Capital Hoppers by 18-14, TW B beat Bahria Town C by 16-09 points, G-5 beat Titans by 19-12 points, Bahria A beat BBL by 17-11 points, Hawks Greens beat T-Hoppers by 16-10 points, DHA Rockets beat Thunders by 20-11 points, Bulls B beat Bahria Town B by 15-9 points respectively.
Federal Cup 3x3 Basketball Tournament starts in F-6 Islamabad
Mohammad Azam Dar ISLAMABAD: Under the patronage of the Federal Basketball Association (FBBA), the Federal Cup 3x3 Basketball Tournament has started here at the F-6 Multipurpose court, as 37 teams from Rawalpindi and Islamabad are participating in the tournament. According to Secretary FBBA, Ouj E Zahoor, a large number of basketball clubs are participating in the four-day event as 37 teams have been divided into eight pools in the tournament to be played under floodlights. Ouj-E-Zahoor said: “To promote the 3x3 basketball standard and to increase the interest of this game amongst the youth is the main objective to organize the tournament, adding that 3X3 is an excellent way to introduce inactive children and youth to the sport of basketball.” On the first day of the event, Islamabad Hawks with a brilliant game defeated AKA Club by 53-34 points while Bahria Town CH faced defeat against DHA Lakes by 56-43 points. In the third match, Spurs won the pool match against Hawks Greens by 50-34 points. In the fourth match, Thunders defeated Titan by 62-51 points. City Reapers beat Ball Magician A by 47-29 points. In other pool matches, City Reapers beat Raptors White 46-31, Bulls B beat Ball Magician B by 56-32, Hawks Blues beat Hawks Greens by 47-29, Thunders beat G-5 by 59-41, Raptors Red beat Bulls B by 61-37, Net Reapers beat TW C by 63-40 and Bahria A defeated Miracles by 52-29 points respectively.

Islamabad win Quaid-e-Azam Cup Inter-Division Basketball Crown
Mohammad Azam Dar ISLAMABAD, Feb 01: Islamabad defeated Faisalabad Division 52-49 points after a nerve-wracking match to win the crown of Quaid-e-Azam Cup Inter-Division Basketball Tournament here at Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex. Islamabad Reds, Gujranwala, Peshawar, Hazara, Islamabad Blues and Faisalabad Division participated in the tournament based on pool rounds matches organised by the Federal Basketball Association (FBBA). In the decisive final, there was a tough competition between Islamabad Reds and Faisalabad Division was seen as until half-time, Faisalabad was leading by 26 points against 24. Islamabad players Yasir Abbas and Attique Khan took four consecutive points in the last minute of the final to play vital role in Islamabad becoming champion of the tournament, beating Faisalabad by 52-49 points. Yasir Abbas scored 22, Attique Khan 14, Rizwan Khursheed scored 12 points respectively for Islamabad’s victory.  Chief guest Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Ehsan Mazari distributed prizes among the players and officials in the closing ceremony and also appreciated the efforts made by Pakistan Basketball Federation and Federal Basketball Association for the promotion of basketball. Also, Commander North Rear Admiral Masood Khurshid, Acting Director General Pakistan Sports Board Mohammad Abrar, Secretary General of Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) Khalid Bashir, Secretary Organizing Committee Ouj E Zahoor, Senior Vice President PBBF Imtiaz Rafi Butt, President Federal Basketball Association Ejaz Butt, Former Coach of national basketball team Malik M Riaz, DDG and PSB Ch Saeed Akhtar and sizeable spectators witnessed the final match.

Pakistan Army lift the title of Inter-Department Basketball Championship
Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD: Defending Champion Pakistan Army have won the title of the Inter-Department National Basketball Championship after outplaying Pakistan Air Force (PAF) 76-52 here at the Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex on Tuesday. Army men dominated throughout the final encounter and never allowed their opponent to settle their feet on the court, as the Red Shirts took a lead of 13 points till the half time of the final at 39-26 points. Army ace players Mohammad Hamza and Ammar Tughlab played vital role for the champion team to retain their national basketball championship title. Mohammad Hamza scored 24 points, and Ammar Tughlab 20 for Army to win the championship with 76-52 points while from PAF side Ahmed Jan scored 21 and Umair Jan scored 12 points. Earlier, in the third position play-off match, Wapda outclassed POF by 68-51 points. Wapda were leading 40-15 points at half time. Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Ehsan ur Rehman Mazari was the chief guest of closing ceremony, while Acting Director General, Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Mohammad Ibrar, Secretary Army Sports Directorate Col. Sadaf Akram, Secretary Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) Khalid Bashir, Championship Organising Secretary Ouj E Zahoor and other dignities were also attending closing ceremony. Speaking on the occasion Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Ehsan Mazari encouraged the players participating in the championship and said that the government was trying to promote the sports activities in the country. The IPC Minister congratulated the officials of the basketball federation for conducting wonderful tournaments and showed his full support to the basketball federations for the improving basketball standard in the country.

Army and PAF set to meet in Inter-Department Basketball final
Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD: Defending champions Pakistan Army entered into the final round to face the powerful Pakistan Air Force (PAF) in the final of the ongoing Inter-Departmental National Basketball Championship, which will be played on Tuesday here at Laiquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex. Army, who is still unbeatable throughout the championship thrashed Wapda in the first semifinal by 92-65. Army players were far better against the blue shirts team at halftime by leading 14 points in the second quarter, which concluded with 45-31points. Army ace player T Ammar again led the winning side by scoring 20 points while Abdul Rehman scored 14 points for Army victory. Usman Khan 18 and Salman Butt scored 12 points for Wapda. In the second semifinal, Pakistan Air Force beat POF by 93-68 points to reach the final of the championship. Ahmed Jan was the top player for PAF, who scored 28 points with Umair Jan netted 12 points in the match.
