Sangram Singh to Make His European MMA Debut at Levels Fight League

Dubai (PR): Indian wrestler Sangram Singh is set to make his European MMA debut at the Levels Fight League (LFL) in Amsterdam on November 2 this year 2025.Known for his unmatched discipline, resilience, and fitness-first approach, Sangram Singh is already an experienced MMA fighter, and this debut marks a significant milestone for Indian combat sports on the global stage.The Commonwealth Heavyweight Champion, Sangram Singh, will become the first Indian wrestler to compete at this level in Europe. Notably, he is also the first athlete above the age of 40 to transition from professional wrestling to MMA at this stage — a testament to his fitness, discipline, and competitive excellence.Sangram Singh’s MMA journey was shaped by his coach Bhupesh Kumar, who played a pivotal role in training and strategy during Sangram’s first MMA debut in Georgia. World Skate Games: Paraguay set to welcome wheeled sports in 2026

A 53-Member Contingent to participate in Asian Youth Games 2025

Abdul Jabbar FaisalISLAMABAD: A 53-person Pakistan contingent, including athletes and officials, will visit Bahrain to participate in the 3rd Asian Youth Games, scheduled to be held from October 22 to 31, this year 2025, as the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) officially approved the squad for an international sports fixture.According to a spokesman for PSB, the approval was granted after getting green signals from the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and is subject to the final clearance from the Ministry of Interior.The contingent, comprising a mix of talented athletes and experienced officials, will represent the country across eight sports disciplines: Athletics, Badminton, Ju-Jitsu, Kabaddi, Swimming, Taekwondo, Volleyball, and Wrestling. Pakistan start preparations for AFC Futsal Asian Cup Qualifiers

Islamabad (SBR): The training camp for the Pakistan national futsal team has officially commenced at the Liaquat Gymnasium, Jinnah Sports Complex, Islamabad, in preparation for the AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers, set to be held in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.The camp is being led by Head Coach Sakhawat Ali, who is guiding the team as it prepares to make history by participating in an international futsal tournament for the first time ever. Pakistan has been drawn into Group D, which includes Chinese Taipei, Iraq and host nation Saudi Arabia.The national futsal team will kick off its campaign against Iraq on September 20, followed by a match against Saudi Arabia on September 22 and conclude the group stage with a fixture against Chinese Taipei on September 24. All matches will be played in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

Sports Board asks federations to verify Grassroots Sports Clubs

ISLAMABAD (SBR): Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has asked all national sports federations to submit complete details of their affiliated clubs and associations, right down to the village and town level, within the next two weeks, aiming to bring transparency to Pakistan’s sports governance.According to a spokesman for PSB, the move is part of a broader set of reforms being initiated by Director General PSB Yasir Pirzada, aimed at tightening governance, ending paper-based federations, and pushing for a culture of documentation and accountability in sports.PSB asked federations to provide lists of their clubs, tehsil, district, divisional, and provincial associations, along with names and contact details of presidents and secretaries, and the dates of their last elections. A federation that fails to submit the information within 15 days will be considered non-functional at the grassroots level.The PSB has a plan to compile the data into a public database, making it easier for athletes, parents, and policymakers to identify which associations are actually functional. Observers note that if carried through, the verification drive could expose hollow setups while strengthening genuine clubs that serve as nurseries for young athletes.

SPL-7 final: Showbiz XI beat Social Media Stars by 35 runs

Karachi (Sports Report) Thanks to Salman Saeed’s brilliant batting, Showbiz XI won the Naya Nazimabad Fame wheels Stars Premier League Season Seven cricket tournament. In the final, Social Media Stars were defeated by 35 runs.The match was played under the lights of electric lights at the Naya Nazimabad Cricket Stadium, organized by Uzee Brothers and supported by Fame Wheels. Showbiz XI won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 136 runs for the loss of four wickets in the allotted eight overs. Opener Salman Saeed played an innings of 63 runs off 20 balls with the help of three sixes and four fours. Rayed Khan scored 20 runs.In reply, the team of social media stars could score one hundred and one runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted overs. Faisal Qureshi took two wickets. He was declared the man of the match for his brilliant batting. The special guest, Chairman Fame Wheels Munawar Abbas Sheikh, distributed prizes among the players. He said that his circle will continue to patronize sports.On this occasion, President Naya Nazimabad Gymkhana Syed Mohammad Talha, Founder of Stars Premier League Zubair Ilyas, Manager Sports Muhammad Asif, along with a large number of citizens including players and artists were also present. Islamabad Olympic Association Holds Executive Committee Meeting

Islamabad (PR): The Executive Committee of the Islamabad Olympic Association (IOA) met here at Islamabad Club on August 2, 2025. President IOA Begum Ishrat Ashraf chaired the meeting. During the session, the committee deliberated on several matters central to the strategic development and organizational strengthening of the IOA and its affiliated units. A major point of focus was the registration of the Islamabad Olympic Association with the Islamabad Sports Board, an essential step to formalize its status as the principal sports governing body in the federal capital and to facilitate institutional support for its upcoming programs.The meeting also underscored the significance of Islamabad’s active participation in the 1st National Youth Games and the forthcoming National Games. Committee members exchanged insights and strategies to ensure that Islamabad fields highly competitive teams and achieves optimum performance outcomes. Plans were reviewed to streamline athlete selection, training, and logistical arrangements.President Begum Ishrat Ashraf praised the commitment of the Executive Committee and emphasized the importance of unified efforts to elevate Islamabad’s standing on the national sports stage. She reiterated to provide all necessary support to athletes and officials in the build-up to these landmark events.

PU squad to participate in World University Games 2025

LAHORE (OR): Punjab University’s six member squad in Berlin to participate in the World University Games 2025 that started in Germany. The squad comprised Punjab University Director Sports Dr Shabbir Sarwar as official while two players of athletics Nida Karim, Malalika Shahzadi, Sehar Waein (Judo), Areeba Javed (Taekwondo) and Moazama Hafeez ( Swimming) are also part of the HEC contingent from the varsity. Dr Shabbir Sarwar has thanked HEC chairperson Dr Mukhtar Ahmad and Director Sports Javed Memon for including intervarsity and national medal winners in the delegation. He also praised PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Ali for his support. He said that the World University sports are considered mini Olympics because winners of these competitions emerge as Olympic players. He said that the sports competitions will continue until July 27.

Netball Federation circulates misleading information, PSB takes action

Abdul Jabbar FaisalISLAMABAD: Pakistan Netball Federation (PNF) officials circulated confusing, misleading, and false information to social and top national media organizations regarding the Asian Youth Netball Championship 2025, which was held in Korea. They claimed that the junior national team clinched the final after beating the Maldives by 60-35 goals at Jeonju Hwasan Gymnasium, Jeonju-si, South Korea.On this ambiguous information, Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif congratulated team players and officials for their performance, as the facts were entirely different and Pakistani players were in 6th position instead of first. Singapore were the champion of this international fixture.The scribe attempted to contact Chairman PNF, Muddasir Arain, but his cell phone (+923219229711) was switched off. However, a voice note was sent to him at his WhatsApp number, but he did not clarify the situation.Update (PSB Seeks Clarification from PNF within three days):According to spokesman for Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), Khurram Shahzad, PSB has expressed serious reservations over the Pakistan Netball Federation's (PNF) claim that the Pakistan Youth Girls Team secured “first position” in the Asian Youth Netball Championship 2025, and asked to submit a written explanation within three days.A letter issued by PSB, reference was made to PNF's letter (No. PNF/PSB/AYNC-2025 dated July 9, 2025), in which the federation claimed the team had secured first place. According to PSB, the claim was worded in a manner that created the impression of a gold medal victory.The board also raised concerns that PNF Chairman Mudassar Razzaq Arain reinforced this misleading impression during televised interviews on mainstream media, where he explicitly referred to a gold medal win and publicly thanked senior government officials for their appreciation. A viral video of such an interview was also referenced in the official notice.According to PSB, this purported achievement was used by the federation to apply for cash rewards under the 2024 Cash Award Policy, which subsequently led to government-level recognition and benefits.
