Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE:-The inaugural Cricket Associations Divisional Senior Tournament 2022-23 in all six Cricket Associations concluded on Sunday. Sargodha Division, Hazara-Mardan Division, Gilgit Baltistan Division and Sahiwal Division were crowned champions in Central Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Northern and Southern Punjab jurisdictions respectively. In the Balochistan-leg, Quetta-Rakhshan and Sibi-Naseerabad, while in Sindh jurisdiction, Karachi and Sukkur-Larkana Division were declared joint winners after the two finals were abandoned due to rain. Balochistan Cricket Association Quetta-Rakhshan and Sibi-Naseerabad were declared joint winners of the Balochistan-leg. Nasir Khan representing Sibi-Naseerbad Division scored 362 runs from four matches at 90.50. Nasir’s teammate Taimur Ali scored 222 runs from four outings in the tournament. Mohammad Junaid from Quetta-Rakshan scored 160 runs from four matches at 32. Zainullah Snr representing Quetta-Rakshan Division took 22 wickets from four matches with three five-fers. Zainullah’s teammate and left-armer Mohammad Junaid took 19 scalps from four outings in the tournament. Sibi-Naseerabad Division’s Mohammad Javed bagged 17 wickets from four matches. Central Punjab Cricket Association In the Central Punjab jurisdiction, Sargodha Division won the leg due to their first innings lead over Lahore Division in the final staged at the LCCA Ground from 19-21 August. Amongst the batters, Sargodha Division’s Hamza Akbar topped the table with 274 runs from four matches at 91.33. Ameer Hamza representing Faisalabad Division scored 269 runs from three outings in the tournament at 89.67. Sargodha Division’s Mohammad Abubakar scored 257 from three matches at 42.83. In the bowling charts, Lahore Division’s Haseeb-ur-Rehman and Mohammad Rameez Jnr bagged 16 and 15 wickets, respectively from four matches. Gujranwala-Sialkot Division’s Asad Raza grabbed 14 wickets from three matches. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cricket Association Hazara-Mardan Division were declared champions of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Divisional leg after taking a first-innings lead over D.I.Khan-Bannu Division in the final held at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium from 18 to 20 August. Left-handed batter Maaz Ahmed Sadaqat representing Hazara-Mardan Division topped the batting list with 395 runs from three outings in the tournament. Second on the list was Mohammad Usman representing Malakand Division who scored 355 runs from three matches at 71. Mohammad Nisar Afridi featuring for D.I.Khan-Bannu Division scored 291 runs from four matches at 58.20. Maaz Khan from Hazara-Mardan Division leads the bowling charts with 18 wickets from three matches. Sher Badshah and Adil Naz representing D.I.Khan-Bannu Division bagged 16 and 15 wickets, respectively. Northern Cricket Association Gilgit Baltistan Division were crowned champions of the Northern-leg on the basis of first-innings lead in the final against Rawalpindi Division staged at the House of Northern from 18 to 20 August. Sardar Hassan Raza representing Rawalpindi Division was the leading run-getter with 346 runs from two outings in the tournament at 115.33. Right-handed batters Taimur Khan and Umair Masood finished the tournament with 218 runs each from four matches each. Shoaib Amir and Saqlain Gillani representing Rawalpindi Division bagged 15 and nine wickets, respectively. Left-arm bowler Mohammad Ismail from Gilgit Baltistan grabbed eight scalps from four games. Sindh Cricket Association Karachi Division and Sukkur-Larkana Division were declared the joint winners of the Sindh Cricket Association Division tournament after the final between the two teams was abandoned due to rain. Karachi Division’s Shehzar Mohammad topped the batting charts with 213 runs from two outings in the tournament at 106.50. Hyderabad Division’s Rizwan Mehmood scored 145 runs in two innings at 36.25. Karachi Division’s Majid Asghar was the most prolific bowler with 14 wickets from two matches. Mohammad Asad and Mohammad Asad Malik representing Shaheed Benazirabad-Mirpur Khas Division bagged nine and six wickets, respectively. Southern Punjab Cricket Association Sahiwal Division clinched the title of the Southern Punjab Cricket Association-leg on first innings lead against Multan in the final staged at the District Sports Ground, Multan from 18 to 20 August.  Bahawalpur Division’s Ali Imran occupied the top spot with 411 runs from three matches at a staggering average of 102.75. Sahiwal Division’s Mohammad Arsalan Zia scored 408 runs from four matches at 136. Mohammad Sudais representing D.G Khan Division scored 308 runs from three matches at 61.60. Amongst bowlers, Sahiwal Division’s Mohammad Jahangir bagged 22 wickets from four matches. Left-arm bowler Mohammad Rameez from D.G.Khan Division grabbed 20 wickets from three matches. Another left-arm bowler Mohammad Junaid associated with Multan Division took 15 wickets from three outings in the tournament.

Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE:-Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the panels of match officials for the 2022-23 men’s domestic cricket season, which will kicks-off with the National T20 on 30 August in Rawalpindi. The second leg of the event will run in Multan from 10-19 September. Former first-class cricketers Aaley Haider, who featured in 90 matches from 1993 to 2005, Mohammad Asif, who participated in 45 matches, Tariq Rasheed, who played 22 matches from 1996-2003, and Muhammad Sajid Khan Afridi, who played five matches, have been promoted to the PCB Elite Panel of Umpires. The four have joined Ahsan Raza, Asif Yaqoob, Faisal Khan Afridi, Ghaffar Kazmi, Imran Jawed, Nasir Hussain Snr, Rashid Riaz, Saqib Khan, Shozab Raza, Syed Imtiaz Iqbal, Waleed Yaqub and Zameer Haider. There is no change in the PCB Elite Panel of Match Referees, which includes Ali Naqvi, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Anees, Muhammad Iqbal Sheikh, Nadeem Arshad and Prof Muhammad Javed Malik. Apart from the National T20, the elite panelists will officiate in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy (27 September-30 November) and the Pakistan Cup (10 December-3 January). Ghaffar Kazmi and Zameer Haider will retire during the year. Aftab Gilani and Qasier Waheed have slipped to the PCB Supplementary Panel of Umpires, which includes few faces in Imranullah Aslam and Qaiser Khan. Other members of the panel are: Abdul Moqeet, Ahmed Shahab, Aslam Bareach, Farooq Ali Khan, Ghulam Sarwar, Kashif Sohail, Khalid Mehmood Snr, Majid Hussain, Mir Dad, Mohammad Imran and Zulfiqar Jan. There are two changes in the PCB Supplementary Panel of Match Referees. Former first-class cricketers Athar Laiq and Bilal Khilji have been added as Azizur Rehman and Tanveer Afzal will be retiring during the season. The match officials in the supplementary panel will be involved in the CA T20 (2-15 September), CA Championship (27 September-23 November) and CA Challenge (10-29 December). PCB Manager Umpires and Referees, Bilal Qureshi said: “We are pleased to confirm our match officials’ panels for the 2022-23 cricket season, which have been finalised following a robust appraisal and performance analysis process in which the match referees and captains reports from the last season were also considered. “I want to congratulate umpires Aaley Haider, Imranullah Aslam, Muhammad Asif, Muhammad Sajid Khan Afridi, Tariq Rasheed, and Qaiser Khan, who have earned promotions as well as Athar Laiq and Bilal Khilji, who share 281 first-class matches between them, for breaking into the supplementary panel of match referees. “Azizur Rehman, Ghaffar Kazmi, Tanveer Afzal and Zameer Haider will be retiring during the season and we will give them proper send-offs, but is appropriate at this stage to thank them for their contributions to the game and their role in enhancing the match officials’ image and profile. “Officiating is a challenging and thankless job, but our match officials have recently made big progress in decision-making and player-management, which has contributed in improving the overall health and quality of our domestic cricket. Sports Bulletin Report Lahore:- Babar Azam-led Pakistan ODI squad will face Pakistan Shaheens twice in a seven-day long training camp in Lahore. Sindh middle-order batter Saud Shakeel will lead Pakistan Shaheens in the two 50-over games on 7 and 10 August at the LCCA Ground.  Abdullah Shafique and Zahid Mehmood, part of Pakistan’s 16-player Netherlands bound ODI squad, will represent the Shaheens in the two practice matches.  This will be the first time when both squads will come face-to-face; practice matches between the two Pakistan teams are set to become regular practice in future.  Depending on team and tour requirements, the two squads will feature in different format matches that would aim to provide both practice to the national squad members and exposure to the reserve and upcoming players.  Besides Saud, for the two matches on Sunday and Wednesday, the Shaheens squad will feature talented players like Kamran Ghulam, Abbas Afridi, Abdul Wahid Bangalzai, Arshad Iqbal, Faisal Akram, Haseebullah, Abrar Ahmed, Mir Hamza and Qasim Akram.  12-player Shaheens squad:  Saud Shakeel (Captain), Kamran Ghulam (Vice-captain), Abbas Afridi, Abdullah Shafique, Abdul Wahid Bangalzai, Arshad Iqbal, Faisal Akram, Haseebullah (wicket-keeper), Abrar Ahmed, Mir Hamza, Qasim Akram and Zahid Mehmood

Balochistan Whites’ Jahangir Khan bagged five wickets to dismiss Southern Punjab Whites for 224 at the UBL Sports Complex, while a collective effort from Central Punjab U19 Whites bowlers had Northern U19 Whites following-on in a Pool B fixture. Pool A fixtures: At the Hanif Mohammad HPC Ground, Central Punjab U19 Blues spin twins Arham Nawab and Ali Asfand dismissed Northern U19 Blues for 212 in 77.5 overs. Resuming their innings on the overnight score of 77 for two from 25 overs, Northern Blues managed to bat only 52.5 overs more before getting themselves bowled out. Northern’s captain Shamyl Hussain could add only five runs to his overnight score and was dismissed for 61 off 109 balls, hitting seven fours and one six. Central Punjab Blues’ right-arm off-spinner Arham bagged four wickets for 76, while left-arm spinner Ali ended up taking three wickets for 56 from 22 overs. Ayub Khan took two wickets for 28 from nine overs. In return, Central Punjab Blues were in a spot of bother when at stumps they were 98 for five in 37 overs. Sports Bulletin Report KARACHI:-Half-centuries by Ali Razzaq, Ali Zoraiz and Moiz Rana helped Central Punjab U19 Whites to a respectable score against Northern U19 Whites at the NBP Sports Complex on the opening day of the National U19 Championship on Saturday. The other two matches of Pool B and one match of Pool A was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain. In the Pool B match, after being put into bat by Northern Whites, Central Punjab Whites managed to score 312 for the loss of eight wickets from 83 overs. Opening pair of Ali Zoraiz and Moiz provided a solid 127-run stand for the first wicket. Ali scored 65 off 118 balls, hitting eight boundaries. Moiz chipped in with a 115-ball 61, which included nine fours. Ali Razzaq coming to bat at number four top-scored with a 98-ball 67. The right-handed batter struck nine fours during his 180 minutes stay at the crease. For Northern U19 Whites, Abdul Basit with his right-arm leg-spin bagged four wickets for 100 from 23 overs. He was supported by Abuzar and Mohammad Nabeel, both picking two wickets apiece. In return, Northern U19 Whites were five for no loss from three overs when stumps were drawn. Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE:-Streamlining pathways cricket and creating more playing opportunities for talented cricketers was the cornerstone of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s 2022-23 men’s domestic cricket season, which was revealed today. The seniors cricket will commence with the 33-match two-leg National T20, which will be held in Rawalpindi and Multan from 30 August to 19 September. Concurrently, the second XIs Cricket Associations Cup will be played in Quetta from 2-15 September. Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, the jewel in the PCB’s crown, will be staged from 27 September to 30 November with Abbottabad, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Karachi sharing 31 matches between them. The Cricket Associations Championship will be played alongside the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in the same cities from 27 September to 23 November. Curtains on the 2022-23 domestic cricket season will fall with the 33-match Pakistan Cup 50-over tournament, which will be staged in Karachi from 10 December to 3 January. Karachi will also stage the Cricket Associations Challenge from 10-29 December.  In all, 187 matches are scheduled to be played over 127 days (30 August to 3 January). Salient features of the PCB 2022-23 men’s domestic cricket calendar are: ·         Six-team Cricket Associations Cup (T20 format) will now be played on a double-league basis. This means each side will get a minimum of 10 matches and a total of 30 matches will be played. Previously, the event was held on a single-league basis with 15 matches. ·         Six-team Cricket Associations Championship will now be a four-day non first-class competition. Previously, it was a three-day tournament ·         Six-team Cricket Associations Championship will be played on a double-league basis. This means each side will get a minimum of 10 matches and a total of 30 matches will be played. Previously, the event was held on a single-league basis with 15 matches. ·         Six-team Cricket Associations Challenge will be played on a double-league basis. This means each side will get a minimum of 10 matches and a total of 30 matches will be played. Previously, the event was held on a single-league basis with 15 matches. ·         The seniors’ competitions will follow the CCA U19 tournament (21 May-4 June), CA Divisional U19 tournament (10-17 June), CCA Senior Tournament (19 June-21 July) and National U19 Cup (28 June-8 July). The National U19 Championship commenced in Karachi from 25 July and will conclude on 23 August, while the CA Divisional Senior Tournament will take place from 27 July to 12 August. Director High Performance, Nadeem Khan said:  “Making the domestic events competitive and challenging, while continuing to provide maximum opportunities to our talented cricketers to demonstrate their talent and help them graduate to the higher level, was the mainstay of our thought-process when we finalised the upcoming domestic season calendar. “Last year, we allowed each Cricket Association to field two under-19 sides in the National tournaments and this year we have increased the number of matches in the second XI CA Cup, Championship and Challenge. This means each player will get a minimum of 10 matches across all three formats, which provides a good enough opportunity for any player to show his mettle and talent, and stake his claim in the first XI competitions. “We have introduced a new concept whereby the non first-class CA Championship matches will be four-day fixtures. This will ensure the matches are well-contested and result-oriented, and the players get full opportunity to make the best from these games. This will also help in narrowing the gap with our first-class Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in which only the best of the best participate. “We have also tried to streamline the player development and progression. Now, a talented U19 cricketer will not have to wait until the next year before playing in the seniors’ competition. I am sure that this year, we will see a few outstanding U19 cricketers from the CCA, CA and National tournaments that will feature in the topline events, as the pathways events have been designed to lead into the main competitions. “Last year, youngsters Mubasir Khan of Northern and Balochistan’s Haseebullah were adjudged players of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and Pakistan Cup, respectively. Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE:-Shaheed Benazirabad won the Sindh-leg of the two-day City Cricket Association Tournament 2022-23 on the virtue of a better run-rate after their final against Hyderabad ended in a draw at the Hanif Mohammad HPC National Stadium Ground in Karachi on Thursday. After the first day’s play was washed out due to rain, the match started on day-two. Shaheed Benazirabad’s captain Haris Khan won the toss and opted to field first. Hyderabad managed to score 277 for six in 57 overs on the back of captain Fardeen’s 62-ball 61, which included seven fours and one six. Dawood Khan top-scored with a quick-fire 75 off 56 balls and struck eight fours and two sixes. For Shaheed Benazirabad, right-arm leg-spinner Jawad Ali bagged four wickets for 60. In return, half-centuries by Haris (60,68b, nine fours) and Saddam Hussain (58,113b, eight fours, one six) helped Shaheed Benazirabad post 171 for seven in 45 overs. When stumps were drawn for the day Shaheed Benazirabad were declared winners on the basis of better run-rate. After the win, Shaheed Benazirabad’s captain Haris Khan said: “The players had the commitment to do well in the tournament and ended up winning the tournament. Our coach guided us really well and we executed the plan successfully on the field.” In the four-group 17-team Sindh-leg, Shaheed Benazirabad topped Pool B with 15 points, while Hyderabad topped Pool C with 23 points to qualify for the semi-finals. The other two teams to qualify for the semi-finals were Karachi Zone VI from Pool A with 33 points and Karachi Zone IV from Pool D with 14 points. The first semi-final was played between Karachi Zone VI and Hyderabad at the Hanif Mohammad HPC National Stadium Ground in Karachi from 6 to 7 July. On first innings lead, Hyderabad were declared winners and qualified for the final. The star performers for Hyderabad in the first semi-final were Mustafa Nasir (four for 43) and wicketkeeper-batter Akbar Khan (89,58b, six fours, eight sixes). In the second semi-final played between Shaheed Benazirabad and Karachi Zone IV at the UBL Sports Complex in Karachi only 25.3 overs were bowled when play was stopped due to rain and no further play was possible. Shaheed Benazirabad were declared winners on the basis of more points in the group stage compared to Karachi Zone IV. Faizan Khan representing Karachi Zone V topped the batting charts with 410 runs from three matches at 102.50. The right-handed batter struck two centuries and one half-century. Mirpurkhas’ Mohammad Saddam was second on the list with 384 runs from four outings in the tournament at 48. The left-handed batter struck one century and two half-centuries. Mohammad Tariq Khan representing Karachi Zone VI topped the bowling charts with 35 wickets from five matches. He took five-for four times with best of eight for 37 in an innings. Second on the list was right-arm leg-spinner Arif Yaqoob who bagged 24 wickets from three matches. This also includes seven for 24 his best figures in an innings.

The National UNDER-19 Championship (three-day) will be held in the third week of July. To create a competitive environment and to bridge the gap between domestic and international cricket, the PCB has involved senior coaches to lead the support staff of each squad featuring in the National UNDER-19 Cup. This move will upskill the players, while helping the coaches to work closely with teenagers knocking at the doors of senior cricket. The coaching panel includes: Abdul Razzaq, Aizaz Cheema, Arshad Khan, Humayun Farhat, Ijaz Ahmed Jnr, Imran Farhat and Zahoor Elahi. The former international cricketers’ part of the coaching staff includes Ghulam Ali, Rafatullah Mohmand, Shahid Anwar, Shoaib Khan and Samiullah Khan Niazi. Six Blues squads have been placed in Pool A and will play their matches in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, while six Whites squads are in Pool B with their matches scheduled in Faisalabad, Lahore and Sheikhupura.
