Islamabad Basketball News: Federal Cup Tournament reach in Round-II
Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Hawks, City Reapers, Bulls A, Raptors Red have qualified for the pre-quarterfinals round of the Federal Cup 3x3 Basketball Tournament organised by Federal Basketball Association (FBBA) at F-6 Multipurpose court, Islamabad. Islamabad Hawks defeated Bulls C by 18-11 points and reached the pre-quarter final round. In the second match, City Reapers won against Raptors White by 19-10 points, while in the third match, Bulls A won against Ball Magician A by 17-12 points. Raptors Red beat Ball Magician B by 20-16 points, Thunders beat Capital Hoppers by 18-14, TW B beat Bahria Town C by 16-09 points, G-5 beat Titans by 19-12 points, Bahria A beat BBL by 17-11 points, Hawks Greens beat T-Hoppers by 16-10 points, DHA Rockets beat Thunders by 20-11 points, Bulls B beat Bahria Town B by 15-9 points respectively.
Federal Cup 3x3 Basketball Tournament starts in F-6 Islamabad
Mohammad Azam Dar ISLAMABAD: Under the patronage of the Federal Basketball Association (FBBA), the Federal Cup 3x3 Basketball Tournament has started here at the F-6 Multipurpose court, as 37 teams from Rawalpindi and Islamabad are participating in the tournament. According to Secretary FBBA, Ouj E Zahoor, a large number of basketball clubs are participating in the four-day event as 37 teams have been divided into eight pools in the tournament to be played under floodlights. Ouj-E-Zahoor said: “To promote the 3x3 basketball standard and to increase the interest of this game amongst the youth is the main objective to organize the tournament, adding that 3X3 is an excellent way to introduce inactive children and youth to the sport of basketball.” On the first day of the event, Islamabad Hawks with a brilliant game defeated AKA Club by 53-34 points while Bahria Town CH faced defeat against DHA Lakes by 56-43 points. In the third match, Spurs won the pool match against Hawks Greens by 50-34 points. In the fourth match, Thunders defeated Titan by 62-51 points. City Reapers beat Ball Magician A by 47-29 points. In other pool matches, City Reapers beat Raptors White 46-31, Bulls B beat Ball Magician B by 56-32, Hawks Blues beat Hawks Greens by 47-29, Thunders beat G-5 by 59-41, Raptors Red beat Bulls B by 61-37, Net Reapers beat TW C by 63-40 and Bahria A defeated Miracles by 52-29 points respectively.

Islamabad win Quaid-e-Azam Cup Inter-Division Basketball Crown
Mohammad Azam Dar ISLAMABAD, Feb 01: Islamabad defeated Faisalabad Division 52-49 points after a nerve-wracking match to win the crown of Quaid-e-Azam Cup Inter-Division Basketball Tournament here at Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex. Islamabad Reds, Gujranwala, Peshawar, Hazara, Islamabad Blues and Faisalabad Division participated in the tournament based on pool rounds matches organised by the Federal Basketball Association (FBBA). In the decisive final, there was a tough competition between Islamabad Reds and Faisalabad Division was seen as until half-time, Faisalabad was leading by 26 points against 24. Islamabad players Yasir Abbas and Attique Khan took four consecutive points in the last minute of the final to play vital role in Islamabad becoming champion of the tournament, beating Faisalabad by 52-49 points. Yasir Abbas scored 22, Attique Khan 14, Rizwan Khursheed scored 12 points respectively for Islamabad’s victory.  Chief guest Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Ehsan Mazari distributed prizes among the players and officials in the closing ceremony and also appreciated the efforts made by Pakistan Basketball Federation and Federal Basketball Association for the promotion of basketball. Also, Commander North Rear Admiral Masood Khurshid, Acting Director General Pakistan Sports Board Mohammad Abrar, Secretary General of Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) Khalid Bashir, Secretary Organizing Committee Ouj E Zahoor, Senior Vice President PBBF Imtiaz Rafi Butt, President Federal Basketball Association Ejaz Butt, Former Coach of national basketball team Malik M Riaz, DDG and PSB Ch Saeed Akhtar and sizeable spectators witnessed the final match.

Pakistan Army lift the title of Inter-Department Basketball Championship
Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD: Defending Champion Pakistan Army have won the title of the Inter-Department National Basketball Championship after outplaying Pakistan Air Force (PAF) 76-52 here at the Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex on Tuesday. Army men dominated throughout the final encounter and never allowed their opponent to settle their feet on the court, as the Red Shirts took a lead of 13 points till the half time of the final at 39-26 points. Army ace players Mohammad Hamza and Ammar Tughlab played vital role for the champion team to retain their national basketball championship title. Mohammad Hamza scored 24 points, and Ammar Tughlab 20 for Army to win the championship with 76-52 points while from PAF side Ahmed Jan scored 21 and Umair Jan scored 12 points. Earlier, in the third position play-off match, Wapda outclassed POF by 68-51 points. Wapda were leading 40-15 points at half time. Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Ehsan ur Rehman Mazari was the chief guest of closing ceremony, while Acting Director General, Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Mohammad Ibrar, Secretary Army Sports Directorate Col. Sadaf Akram, Secretary Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) Khalid Bashir, Championship Organising Secretary Ouj E Zahoor and other dignities were also attending closing ceremony. Speaking on the occasion Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Ehsan Mazari encouraged the players participating in the championship and said that the government was trying to promote the sports activities in the country. The IPC Minister congratulated the officials of the basketball federation for conducting wonderful tournaments and showed his full support to the basketball federations for the improving basketball standard in the country.

Army and PAF set to meet in Inter-Department Basketball final
Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD: Defending champions Pakistan Army entered into the final round to face the powerful Pakistan Air Force (PAF) in the final of the ongoing Inter-Departmental National Basketball Championship, which will be played on Tuesday here at Laiquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex. Army, who is still unbeatable throughout the championship thrashed Wapda in the first semifinal by 92-65. Army players were far better against the blue shirts team at halftime by leading 14 points in the second quarter, which concluded with 45-31points. Army ace player T Ammar again led the winning side by scoring 20 points while Abdul Rehman scored 14 points for Army victory. Usman Khan 18 and Salman Butt scored 12 points for Wapda. In the second semifinal, Pakistan Air Force beat POF by 93-68 points to reach the final of the championship. Ahmed Jan was the top player for PAF, who scored 28 points with Umair Jan netted 12 points in the match.

Quaid-e-Azam Cup: Islamabad, Faisalabad, Peshawar earn wins
Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Reds, Faisalabad and Peshawar registered their victories in the Quaid-e-Azam Cup Inter-Division Basketball Tournament started here at Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex on Sunday. According to Secretary, Federal Basketball Association (FBA) Ouj E Zahoor, Islamabad Red, Gujranwala, Peshawar, Hazara, Islamabad Blues and Faisalabad Division are taking part in the tournament based on pool rounds matches organized by the Federal Basketball Association (FBBA). In the first match, Islamabad Reds defeated the Gujranwala division by 77 points against 55 points. Mohammad Yasir scored 20 and Atiq Khan scored 14 points from Islamabad Reds, while Mohammad Ali scored 12 points from Gujranwala division. Meanwhile, in the second match, Faisalabad Division defeated Hazara Division by 62-61 points as Faisalabad team scored important two points in the last minute after a nerve-wracking match. During the match, both teams played brilliantly as Mohammad Rizwan scored 16 points and Ali Hassan scored 12 points from Faisalabad, while Mohammad Nawaz scored 24 points and Haris Khan scored 14 points for Hazara Division. In the third match, Peshawar Division defeated Gujranwala by 90-56 points, thanks to 30 points from Naeemullah and 22 points from Bilal Khan for winning side. In the fourth match, after a tough competition, Islamabad Blues defeated Hazara Division by 60-56 points. Noman Khan 22, Shumail Shagri 14 points played a key role in the success of Islamabad Blues while Yasir Ghafoor, Khurram Aftab and Mohammad Mudassar supervised the matches.

PAF topple WAPDA 75-73 in Inter-Department National Basketball
Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Air Force (PAF) toppled heavyweights Pakistan WAPDA 75-73 in a nerve-jangling encounter in their last pool fixture of the Inter-Department National Basketball Championship here at Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex on Sunday In the first match, PAF earned an upset triumph after crushing Pakistan WAPDA with a narrow margin of two points, as the winners were in deficit after the first three quarters. However, however, 4th quarter was a thriller and PAF players were crawling behind the WAPDA team, as they were down by 15 points. WAPDA were up in the match by two points before the one minute and eight seconds final whistle. Umair Jan along with Ahmad Jan and Mohammad Mehtab scored 25, 10, 10 points respectively and played a vital role in PAF’s victory. Prem Shahzad netted the ball in the last few second of the match for the winning team to make score-line 75-73. Meanwhile, in the second match, Pakistan Army continued its winning streak and defeated Pakistan Ordinance Factories (POF) Wah 104-30 points. Mohammad Shahid scored 17 points and Mohammad Shahbaz scored 15 points for Army side. The matches were supervised by Sadat Jehangir, Naveed Ahmed Beeda, Adeel Syed Raza, M M Alam and Khurram Khan. The first semi-final of the inter-departmental championship will be played on Monday between defending champion Pakistan Army and WAPDA while the second semi-final will be played between Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF). Inter-Department Basketball: PAF, POF qualify for semifinals
Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) have confirmed their berths in the semifinals of the ongoing Inter-Department National Basketball Championship after winning their pool matches here at Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex on Saturday. In the first match of the day, PAF registered an easy victory against Police 85-29 points in a single-sided affair to reach the top-four stage of the tournament. PAF players exhibited top-quality game to earn a massive win. Umair Jan scored 21 and Mehtab Akram 16 points for winning team while Ali Raza scored 20 points the for Police team. In the second match, Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) Wah got-rid-of Pakistan Navy in a close encounter by 68-56. Farrukh Sher scored 20 and Mohammad Farooq scored 14 points for the winning team.

Army, Wapda claim wins in Inter-Department Basketball Championship
Mohammad Azam Dar ISLAMABAD: Defending champion Pakistan Army and Pakistan Wapda outclassed Navy and Police in the first opening fixtures of the Inter-Departmental National Basketball Championship, which rolled into action at Liaquat Gymnasium here at Pakistan Sports Complex under the banner of Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF). In the first match, Defending Champion Pakistan Army thrashed Pakistan Navy team with a big margin of 64 points as the scoreboard was showing 105-41 points at the end of four quarters. Some wonderful moves and aggressive play were seen by army-man during the match. Shoaib Aslam scored 18 points, Yasir Ali scored 16 points, Hamza bin Javed scored 12 points, Shahraz Aslam scored 10 points. Ziaur Rehman and Mohammad Farhan contributed 16 and 8 points respectively. In the second match, Wapda defeated Police by 118-42 points in an easy encounter. Mohammad Zainul Hasan scored 20 points, Zahid Arif and Aali Jah scored 18 and 18 points respectively from WAPDA. On the first day of the five-day championship, Pakistan Sports Board Deputy Director General Saeed Akhtar, Mansoor Ahmed, Army team manager Col Ahmed Ali Tipu, former basketball coach Malik Mohammad Riaz, Associate secretary of Pakistan Basketball Federation Ouj E Zahoor and other officials were witnessed the day one matches.

Inter-Departmental Basketball Championship to start on January 27
Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD: Inter departmental National Basketball Championship will start from January 27th here at Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex. Associate Secretary of the Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF), Ouj-e-Zahoor, who is also organizing secretary of the championship said that PBBF finalised all the arrangements to conduct successful five-day championship under the supervision of the Federal Basketball Association (FBBA). He said that defending champion Pakistan Army, Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) Wah, Railways and Pakistan Navy would join group A in the tournament while Pakistan Air Force (PAF), WAPDA, Police would comprise Group B. Ouj-e-Zahoor said that the inaugural match of the championship would be played between the defending champion Pakistan Army and Navy while POF and Railways, WAPDA and Police teams would compete in the first round of the championship. The semifinals would be played on January 30, while the final on January 31 at the same venue.
