PBBF reschedules Inter-Department Basketball Championship
Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) has rescheduled the Inter-Departmental National Basketball Championship and will be rolled into action on January 25, 2023, at the Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad. It is pertinent to mention here that the earlier championship was to be kicked off on November 16, 2022, and was postponed owing to political situation of the capital city Islamabad. Imran Khan’s long march was to arrive in Islamabad on November 26. According to the organizing secretary of the championship and the Associate Secretary PBBF Ouj-e-Zahoor, all the arrangements have been completed for the successful five-day championship which will be held under the supervision of the Federal Basketball Association (FBBA).  He said that defending champion Pakistan Army, Pakistan Ordinance Factories (POF) Wah, Pakistan Railways, Pakistan Navy would join group A in the tournament while Pakistan Air Force (PAF), WAPDA and Pakistan Police would comprise Group B. Ouj-e-Zahoor further said that the inaugural match of the championship would be played between the defending champion Pakistan Army and Navy while POF and Railways, WAPDA and Police teams would compete in the first round of the championship. “Semifinals of the championship will be played on January 28, while the final will be held on January 29, “he concluded. Pakistan Basketball Federation gets affiliation with PSB
Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) becomes an affiliated unit of Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) after the approval of PSB Board Meeting under the PSB Rules 2022. The decision was taken in the 26th  PSB meeting held under the chairmanship of the Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) and President PSB Ehsan ur Rehman Mazari.  The activities of basketball in the country were also discussed in the meeting, which were taken place in the capital city Islamabad. Under the leadership of its President, Brigadier (Retd) Mohammad Iftikhar Mansoor and Secretary General, Khalid Bashir, PBBF is playing a vital role for the promotion of basketball in the country, which is also affiliated with the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) recognised by IOC, International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and FIBA Asia. PBBF staged men’s and women’s national events in the recent past and contemplating to organise back-to-back basketball tournaments in upcoming months. A spokesman for PBBF said: After the approval and formly notified by PSB, Pakistan Basketball Federation is the only representative organization at national and international levels, which has the authority to work for the development of basketball. Now, affiliated unites with PBBF including the departments and divisions must take permission from the federation to organize basketball competitions in the country. It is pertinent to mention here that under the International Olympic Committee (IOC) agreement, the federal government and PSB recognized only those national sports federations which are affiliated with their world bodies.

Inter-Departmental Basketball schedule to start from November 16
Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) has announced the schedule of Inter-Departmental National Basketball Championship starting from November 16 at the Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad. According to the organizing secretary of the championship and the general secretary of the Federal Basketball Association (FBBA) Ouj-e-Zahoor, all the arrangements have been completed for the successful five-day championship under the supervision of Federal Basketball Association.  He said that seven departments have been divided into two pools as Pool "A" includes the defending champion Pakistan Army, POF, Railways, Navy while pool "B" comprising the teams of Pakistan Air Force, WAPDA and Police. Ouj-e-Zahoor said that the inaugural match of the championship would be played between the defending champion Pakistan Army and Navy while on the first day of the championship POF and Railways, WAPDA and Police teams would compete in the first round. Schedule: November 16 (Day-1): Army vs Navy; POF vs Railways; Wapda vs Police November 17 (Day-2): Army vs Railway; PAF vs Police; POF vs Navy. Pakistan WAPDA Women retain National Basketball title
faisal ISLAMABAD:-Defending Champions Pakistan WAPDA retained their National Women’s Basketball Championship 2022 title after beating Pakistan Army 49-29 in the final at Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad on Friday evening.   Pakistan Wapda ace players Sehrish Nawaz and Sidra Hakim played vital roles for the champion team to retain the championship title as Sehrish Nawaz scored 14 points and Sidra Hakim 12 for Wapda while Army’s Fajar scored 9 and Kashifa scored 7 points. Earlier, in the third position play-off match, hosts Islamabad Blues outclassed favourite Karachi by 31-08 points. Islamabad Blues were leading 25-02 at half time with 23 points difference. Samna Mehboob earned 11 points, Amani Bibi got 8 and Asma scored 7points for the winning side. Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Ehsan-ur-Rehman Mazari was announced chief guest of the closing ceremony but he could not stay there till the end of the match. Both minister and Director General Pakistan Sports Board Col (R ) Asif Zaman were disappeared in the closing ceremony. President Pakistan Basketball Federation Brig. (r) Iftikhar Mansoor, Secretary Khalid Bashir, FBBA president Ejaz Butt, secretary Ouj-e-Zahoor and other officials were at the closing ceremony, who distributed the shields and prizes among each other, as the national women’s basketball championship concluded with an indiscipline and disordered closing ceremony. Eight teams Pakistan Wapda, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Islamabad whites, Pakistan Army, Lahore, Islamabad Blues and Peshawar participated in the five days championship which was organized by the Federal Basketball Association.

National Basketball: WAPDA and Army set to meet in final
Mohammad Azam Dar ISLAMABAD:-Defending champions Pakistan WAPDA and Pakistan Army set to meet in the final of the National Women’s Basketball Championship final after winning their respective semifinals at Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad. Final will be played on Friday at 6:00pm at the same venue. WAPDA, who are still unbeatable in the national championship, thrashed hosts Islamabad Blues in the first semifinal match 63-21points.  Winners were leading with 29 points at half time. Wapda ace player Sidra Hakim again led her side to a massive victory by scoring 14 points while Mehvish Nawaz scored 10 and Kainat Zafar scored 08 points. Saadat Jehangir, Tariq Nawaz and Naveed Ahmed supervised the semifinal match. Meanwhile, in the second semifinal, Pakistan Army outclassed Karachi by 66-15 points to reach in the final of the championship. Pakistan Army girls wearing red shirts were too strong against the visiting Karachi team who played well in the championship but failed to make an upset in the semifinal round as Army won the important match by the difference of 51 points.  Kashifa was the top scorer for Army who scored 15 points with Ayesha Khan 12 points while Referees Umar Mehmood,  Yasar Ghafoor and M Nadeem Ch along with  scorer M M Alam supervised the second semifinal match.  National Assembly Standing Committee Inter-Provincial Coordination(IPC) Chairman Nawab Sher Waseer along with Olympian Rana Mujhaid, Pakistan Basketball Federation Secretary Khalid Bashir, Championship organising secretary Ouj-e-Zahoor, DDG (Admn) PSB Mansoor Ahmed Khan Sherwani and others spectators also witnessed the championship semifinals. WAPDA and Army reach in National Basketball semifinals
SPORTS BULLETIN REPORT Islamabad:-Defending champions WAPDA and Pakistan have confirmed their berth in the semifinals of the ongoing National Women’s Basketball Championship and winning their respective matches here at Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex on Wednesday. Army girls are still unbeatable, as they continued their journey of consecutive victory in the championship pool round matches by defeating Islamabad blues by 55-26 points to qualify for the semifinal round. Kashifa was the top player for Army, who scored 17points while Ayesha Khan scored 15 and Amna Mohsin earned 9 points. For Islamabad Blues Amani Khan scored 08 points with Mominah Ahmed adding points for the losing team. Defending champion Wapda also continued their outstanding performance to move ahead in top-four stage, as they thrashed Karachi by 62-6 points. Hijab Fatima and Sidra Hakim scored 11 points each while Amina Mukhtar scored 9 points. Lahore outclassed KPK in the third match by 31-04 points. KPK failed to make a single point till half time where Lahore was leading by 17 points. Huraina  Sajjad and  Feroza Aslam  scoring 10 and 08 points respectively for the winning side In the fourth match, Karachi defeated Islamabad Whites by 30 points to 14 and booked their place for the semi-final round as well. In the match, Hiba Faraz of Karachi played a key role in the success of the team by scoring 12 points while Laiba tabraiz khan scored 08 points for the winning team.

WAPDA and Army earn victories National Basketball
SPORTS BULLETIN REPORT Islamabad:-Defending Champions WAPDA and Pakistan Army thrashed their opponents Islamabad white and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa respectively in the ongoing National Women’s Basketball Championship at Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad. Eight teams including defending champion Pakistan Wapda, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Islamabad whites, Pakistan Army, Lahore, Islamabad Blues and Peshawar are taking part in the five days championship which will be concluded on October 07th organized by the Federal Basketball Association. In the first match, Army claimed an easy encounter against KPK by 73-14 points. Ayesha Khan scored 16 points while Fajar Fatima 12 while Amna Bibi scored 10 points for Army. In the second match, Defending champions Pakistan Wapda beat Islamabad by 81-16 in a single sided affair. Amina Mukhtar scored 15 and Hijab Fatima scored 14 points for the winning team. In the third match, Karachi outclassed Rawalpindi 15-6. Hiba Faraz scores 8 for the winning side.

Islamabad claim first victory in Basketball Championship for Women
SPORTS BULLETIN REPORT Islamabad:-Islamabad Blues outclassed Lahore in their first match of the National Women’s Basketball Championship that started at Liaqat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad on Monday. Director General Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Col. (R ) Asif Zaman was chief guest at the opening ceremony while Counsellor of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic Melis Moldaliev, President, Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) Brig. (R ) Iftikhar Mansoor, Secretary General, PBBF Khalid Bashir, Deputy DG Pakistan Sports Board Mansoor Ahmed  Khan Sherwani,  championship organizing secretary Ouj-e-Zahoor and other dignities and sizeable spectators were also present on this occasion. In the opening match, Islamabad Blues beat Lahore 48-41 after a close contest. Some outstanding moves made it possible for Islamabad to make a comeback during the 4th quarter to win the important match. Asma Bibi and Aimal played an exceptional game scoring 18 and 12 respectively while Yaqoob Qadri, Tariq Nawaz, Gul Jamal and Mohammad Alam supervised the match.

IPC Minister to inaugurate Basketball for Women Championship
SPORTS BULLETIN REPORT Islamabad:-Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Ehsan Ur Rehman Mazari will inaugurate the National Women's Basketball Championship starting from October 3, 2022 at Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad. Top eight teams from around the country will be in action in five days championship hosted by Federal Basketball Association (FBBA) under the umbrella of Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF).  “All arrangements have been completed for organizing the successful championship where top eight teams taking part in the event have been divided into two pools”, said championship organizing secretary and Federal Basketball Association General Secretary Ouj-e-Zahoor.  “Pool "A" comprises defending champion Pakistan Wapda, Karachi, Rawalpindi and Quetta while Pool "B" includes teams from Pakistan Army, Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar.
