Athletics Educational Course starts from Saturday
Sports Reporter ISLAMABAD:-The 5-day Athletics Educational Course (Technical Officials Education & Certification System - TOECS Level – I) will start from Saturday (June 18, 2022) at Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad under the banner of Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP). According to secretary AFP, Mohammad Zafar, the basic aim of this course to train the local athletics officials about the rules and regulations of athletics. The course is scheduled from 18th -22nd June 2022 at Jinnah Stadium, Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad. This is an approved Course from the World body of Athletics (World Athletics) and 20 Technical Officials from affiliated units of AFP will participate in this Course. The international qualified Malaysian Lecturer Suppaih Chinatamy will conduct the course in the most professional manner. This course will play an important role in the smooth running of national athletics competitions in the future. The preparations for the course are in the final stages and its opening ceremony will be held on Saturday 18, June 2022.

Akram Shai visits National Athletics Training Camp
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE:-President, Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) Major General (Retd) Mohammad Akram Sahi visited the national athletics training camp at Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Coaching Center Lahore. The camp is organized for 90 days in the collaboration with PSB aiming to train the national players for upcoming international events including 14th South Asian Games, which will be taken place in Pakistan next year 2023. According to an official of AFP, Sixty (60) national athletes (male) and coaches from all affiliated units of the federation are attending the training camp which has been organized to prepare national Athletes for the forthcoming 14th South Asian Games and other international athletics fixtures. Rana Nasrullah Director PSB is the camp commandant and he is supervising athlete training activities being implemented by the camp coaches.  Major General (Retd) Mohammad Akram Sahi, President AFP, who is also Vice President Asian Athletics Association and Chairman South Asian Athletics Federation, visited the camp facility and analyzed the different aspects of this preparatory athletics camp. He appreciated the newly renovated facilities and balanced diet being served to the participants. He advised the athletes and coaches to adopt training techniques based upon scientific research, as this method would produce the desired results. President AFP cautioned the athletes and coaches to avoid the use of performance enhancing drugs which is unlawful and punishable under AFP and WADA laws. He stated that these illegal drugs are detrimental for human health and cause irreversible damage to athletes who use them. It is unfortunate that recently athletes from other national Federations were caught and banned by WADA for doping. It was also decided that National trials for all athletics events will be held on 26-27 April 2022 at Punjab Stadium, Lahore. The purpose of trails is to select the athletes for upcoming international athletics events including 2nd Imam Reza Cup Tournament, which is scheduled from May 29-30, 2022 at Mashhad, Iran.

Technical Officials Education & Certification System Level-I course for women concludes
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE:-The 1st Women’s Technical Officials Education & Certification System (TOECS) Level-I course concluded on Tuesday at PSB Coaching Centre Lahore, as the 5-day course was organized by Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) in with the collaboration and support of World Athletics. Major Gen (R) Mohammad Akram Sahi, HI (M), SI(M), President Athletics Federation of Pakistan / Vice President Asian Athletics Association distributed Certificates among  the participants of course and appreciated the women who  came from remote areas of Pakistan to attend the course. The main purpose to organize the course was to increase the number of qualified women technical officials in the country and to enhance their knowledge and skills. Seventeen (17) women technical officials namely Shabana Khattak, Sadaf Siddiqui, Sumera Hussain, Shakila Rehman, Shagufta Akhtar Khan, Shabana Shaikh, Shabana Kousar, Sadia Sanaullah, Rahat Nawaz, Nasreen Fakhra, Maria Maratab, Mafia Parveen, Kaneez Sughra, Fozia Shaheen Mughal, Beenish Amin, Attia Maqbool and Abida Changezi from the Associations and Departments affiliated with AFP attended the Course. World Athletics had approved Wing Commander (R)  Pervaiz Saeed Mir as Lecturer to conduct this course. President of National Athletics Association of Technical Officials (NAATO) Tariq Mehmood Sidhu was nominated as Course Secretary while Khurshid Akhtar Butt performed as Coordinator of the Course.

Ali Sohail wins 10-Kilometer Karachi Green Marathon
Karachi (Sports Bulletin Report):-Ali Sohail has won the 1st Karachi Green Marathon after covering the 10 kilometers distance while Akhtar Ali and Mohammad Sajid claimed second and third position respectively. Ali Sohail pocketed Rs. 75000 prize money. All athletes gathered at the Urban Forest, Clifton to run for a cleaner and greener city with the Karachi Green Marathon. A large number of people took part in the 5-kilometer and 10-kilometer marathon races. Ali Sohail was declared the winner in the 10 kilometers category for males at the Karachi Green Marathon, whereas Akhtar Ali, Mohammad Sajad, Ikram, and Waqas secured the second, third, fourth, and fifth position in the same. On the other hand, Farah Mehwish took the first position in the 10 kilometers category for females at the Karachi Green Marathon, while Rabia Aashiq, Sehrish, Nimra, and Sarah Muneer took the subsequent positions respectively. Israr Khattak secured the winner position in the 5 kilometers category for males. Rabia took the winner title, whereas Erum, Maria, Iqra, and Maria took the consecutive positions in the 5 kilometers category for females at the Karachi Green Marathon. The top five contestants in both male and female 10 kilometers category of the marathon were awarded cash prizes of PKR 75,000, PKR 50,000, PKR 35,000, PKR 20,000, and PKR 10,000 respectively. The top five contestants in both male and female 5 kilometers category of the marathon were rewarded with PKR 50,000, PKR 35,000, PKR 20,000, PKR 10,000, and PKR 5,000 respectively. The Karachi Green Marathon had the Administrator of Karachi, MurtazaWahab, along with President HUM Network Sultana Siddiqui, CEO HUM Network Duraid Qureshi, Chairperson Special Olympics Ronak Lakhani, Owais Mangalwala, Sohail Sardar, Afia Salam, Juvairia Abbasi, Shahwar Ali Khan, and students from several schools in attendance. Speaking on the occasion, Zerlina Duraid, the force behind the Karachi Green Marathon, said: “We really think this initiative can be the start of many more to come. Every single participant is making a difference in this run and together we are working towards a clean and green Karachi. This is the start for a healthy Karachi.”

Athletics coaching course concludes
LAHORE (Sports Reporter) The 12-day Coaches Education & Certification System (CECS) Level – I course concluded today at Punjab Stadium Lahore. The participants of course gained a lot of knowledge from this course. On the occasion of closing ceremony of course Maj Gen (R) Mohammad Akram Sahi, President Athletics Federation of Pakistan / Vice President Asian Athletics Association distributed the certificates among the participants of course. It is further apprised that twenty seven (27) coaches from all affiliated units of AFP attended this course.  Tariq Mehmood Sidhu and Talha Iftikhar (CECS Level – I qualified lecturers of World Athletics) conducted this course.

Lord Sebastian hails Arshad Nadeem performance in Tokyo Olympics
Sports Desk ISLAMABAD (November 12, 2021):- Lord Sebastian Coe, President World Athletics hailed the performance of Pakistani athletes Arshad Nadeem, who produce excellent performance in the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics. According to an official of Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP), in the opening remarks in the 24th Congress Meeting of the Asian Athletics Association (AAA), Lord Sebastian Coe, President World Athletics appreciated the performance and efforts of Asian Athletics Association as well as Athletics Federation of Pakistan as AFP conducted online seminars for the sports community of Asian region during the Covid-19 crisis. He also applauded the recent outstanding performance by Arshad Nadeem, Javelin Thrower at the Tokyo Olympics. The 24th Congress Meeting of the Asian Athletics Association (AAA) was held on 8th November 2021. It was attended by the Presidents and Secretary Generals of 45 Asian Countries. President Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) Maj General (Retd) Mohammad Akram Sahi who is also Vice President of the AAA and Mohammad Zafar Secretary General AFP attended the Congress.

Rai Taimoor congratulates winning athletes
SPORTS REPORTER LAHORE (September 29, 2021):-Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti congratulated Director General Sports Board Punjab (SBP) Adnan Arshad Aulakh and Punjab’s male and female athletics teams for winning Inter-Provincial Athletics Tournament 2021 in a dominating style. In his greeting message on Wednesday, Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti lauded the key role of Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh and all coaching staff and team management in the overwhelming title winning performance of Punjab’s Under-17 Boys and Under-16 Girls athletics teams. Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti hoped that Punjab athletes would maintain their performance in future sports events.

Punjab offers technical support to all provinces
SPORTS BULLETIN REPORT Peshawar (September 29, 2021): Director General, Sports Board Punjab (SBP) Adnan Arshad Aulakh said that Punjab was ready to offer any kind of technical support to all provinces for nurturing their sports teams. “Being Pakistani, all the participating teams are our own and we will be happy to extend any type of assistance to any provincial team or their athletes for polishing their sports skills,” he expressed these views while talking to media at the prize distribution ceremony of Inter-Provincial Athletics Tournament 2021 in Peshawar on Wednesday. In his media talk, Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh congratulated all members of male and female athletics teams, their coaching staff and team management for such a superlative performance. He said it is the result of extraordinary hard work of our coaches and trainers during the week-long training camp. “We believe in merit and our focus is on grooming talented players and promotion of sports culture especially in far-flung areas of the province,” he added. Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh was the chief guest during the last day’s competitions. He also awarded medals to top performers of different athletics disciplines. Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh also had meetings with DG Pakistan Sports Board and DG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Asfandyar Khattak on this occasion. The athletics teams of Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also met with DG Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh. Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Mushtaq Ghani congratulated Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh and Punjab’s male and female athletes for showing dominating performances and winning Inter-Provincial Athletics Tournament 2021. Punjab win U-17 Boys and U-16 Girls Inter-Provincial Athletics Tournament
SPORTS BULLETIN REPORT Peshawar (September 29, 2021):-Punjab’s Under-17 Boys (16 medals) and Under-16 Girls (15 medals) athletics teams with 129 and 103 points respectively, won the Inter-Provincial Athletics Tournament 2021 that concluded at Qayyum Sports Stadium, Peshawar on Wednesday. Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Mushtaq Ghani was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony. Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh and DG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Asfandyar Khattak and other officials were also present on this occasion. Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Mushtaq Ghani awarded winner’s trophy to Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh at the grand concluding ceremony. After winning Inter-Provincial Athletics Tournament 2021 with a wide margin, Punjab’s young athletes danced and celebrated their overwhelming triumph in a befitting manner. In the Boys U-17 Athletics Tournament, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa team with 92 points finished second where the third position was taken by Sindh athletes who scored 53 points. The athletes from Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Balochistan and Gilgit Baltistan had to content with 25, 13 and 4 points respectively. Showing dominating performance, Punjab’s male athletes pocketed 9 gold medals, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals in the athletics meet. The second position team KP took 3 gold medals, 5 silver and 4 bronze medals. The boys team from Sindh failed to win any gold medal. However, they managed to win 3 silver and 4 bronze medals. On the other hand, Punjab’s girls won 6 gold medals, 7 silver and 2 bronze medals during the mega event. Girls from host province KP got 3 gold medals, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals while Sindh female team clinched one gold and 4 bronze medals during the Inter-Provincial Athletics Tournament. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa girls accumulated 64 points to remain runners up while Sindh finished third with 42 points. Azad Jammu & Kashmir scored 18 points followed by Balochistan 12 and Gilgit Baltistan 4 points in the junior athletics tournament. In the third and last day’s Boys U-17 athletics competitions, Punjab’s Majid, Mohsin, Sakhawat and Bilal won gold medal in 4x400 relay event. Punjab athletes Aman, Sakhawat, Mohsin and Majid also demonstrated wonderful performance in 4x100 relay event and obtained gold medal. Mohsin also bagged gold medal in 200m race. The gold medal of 400m race was won by Punjab’s Majid Khan while the bronze medal went to Mohsin. Punjab’s Usman also excelled in 110m hurdles race and secured another gold medal for his team. Punjab’s M Hamza finished second and won silver medal in javelin throw event. In Girls U-16 competitions on the third and last day, Punjab’s Amina, Momina, Fatima and Arooba won gold medal in 4x100m relay race. Punjab’s Sania and Arooba Fatime took silver medals in javelin throw and 200m race events respectively. Inter-Provincial Athletics: Punjabi girls grab five gold medals
SPORTS REPORT Peshawar (September 28, 2021):-Punjab’s Under-17 Boys and Under-16 Girls athletics teams maintained the sequence of dominating performances and won 20 medals including 9 gold, 8 silver and 3 bronze medals in the Inter-Provincial Athletics Youth Tournament 2021 in Peshawar on Tuesday. Punjab’s Under-16 Girls clinched five gold, four silvers and one bronze while the Under-17 Boys have pocketed four gold, four silver and two bronze medals. As far as points are concerned on the second day, Punjab’s boys are leading the event with 59 points followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 47 and Sindh with 14 points. On girls’ side, Punjab’s female athletes had 63 points whereas Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had 36 points till the filing of this report. Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh congratulated Punjab’s medal winning athletes on showing overwhelming performance during the first two days’ competitions of Inter-Provincial Athletics Youth Tournament. Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh said that the hard work of our professional coaches during 7-day training camp reflected in the shape of medals in Inter-Provincial Athletics Youth Tournament. “The excellent medal-winning performance of our players showed that our selection committee has selected all the male and female players purely on merit”. Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh also witnessed thrilling competitions with keen interest. He also met with medal-winning male and female athletes of Punjab contingent and encouraged them for next competitions. In the 2nd day’s competitions, Punjab’s Khadija won two gold medals in discus throw and shot put events. Rimsha Qayyum and Amina Shahzadi also won gold medals in long jump and 100m hurdles events respectively. Punjab’s Arooba (100m), Amina Shahzadi (long jump) and Rimsha (100m hurdles) also grabbed silver medals while Momina won the only bronze medal on the second day. On the other hand in Boys U-17 competitions, Punjab’s Sakhawat won two gold medals in 100m and 400m hurdles race. Abdullah and Riaz also grabbed gold medals in discus throw and long jump competitions respectively. Punjab’s Mohammad Azam won silver medals in shot put and discus throw events and Saleem Ullah got a silver medal in long jump. The only bronze medal of the day was won by Abdullah in shot put.
