ISLAMABAD: In a landmark development for basketball in Pakistan, US based sports organization Coaches Team International (CTI) has partnered with the Federal Basketball Association (FBBA) to hold an international basketball training camp in Islamabad.

The camp, featuring renowned American coaches Luke Elie and Jacob Kim, has commenced at Bahria University and will conclude on April 28. It aims to develop young talent in the capital using modern training methodologies.

Headed by FBBA General Secretary Ouj E Zahoor, the initiative brings much-needed international exposure to Islamabad’s basketball scene. A carefully selected group of young players is undergoing intensive training under the guidance of CTI coaches. In addition, five local coaches are receiving mentorship to help sustain international coaching standards beyond the camp.

“This is a unique opportunity for our youth to be trained by global professionals who understand the modern demands of the sport,” said Zahoor. “It also empowers our local coaches to sustain this momentum in the long run.”

Training sessions are being held at the indoor basketball courts of Bahria University, which has extended full support by providing facilities and logistical assistance for the visiting coaches and athletes.

The Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) has welcomed the joint venture as part of its ongoing efforts to promote basketball nationwide. “This is yet another significant step toward elevating the standard of basketball in Pakistan,” a PBBF spokesperson noted. “International partnerships like these are vital for our players’ growth and the development of our coaching infrastructure.”

The CTI-FBBA training camp reflects the growing commitment of key stakeholders to foster a new generation of basketball talent and marks a promising new chapter in Pakistan’s sporting landscape.
