National Hockey Championship: MPCL outclass Punjab B 10-0
RWALPINDI (Press Release): Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) players outplayed Punjab B 10-0 in the 67th National Hockey Championship, jointly organized by the Pakistan Hockey Federation and the Army Welfare Trust (AWT), the action continued at the Lt. General Ashfaq Nadeem Hockey Stadium in Rawalpindi.Sadrat Salim, Manager Human Resources Welfare Trust was the guest of honour in the first match of the day. Present on this occasion were Secretary General Haider Hussain, hockey legends Olympian Hanif Khan, Olympian Naseer Ali, Olympian Shakeel Abbasi, Ehsanullah International, Waqas Akbar, Olympian Tariq Aziz, Olympian Javed Mohammad Ali Khan International, Olympian Mohammad Zubair, Olympian Omar Bhatta, Olympian Tauseeq Arshad, Olympian Rahim Khan, Rana Shafiq International, International Aamir Shahzad, Raja Shuja, Raja Shahid, Mohammad Yasin, and Taher Gujjar.In the first match played in the morning, the Pakistan Air Force defeated Punjab A with a score of 3-1. From the Air Force side, Mushtaq, Mohsin, and Abdusattar each scored a goal. Bilal Akram scored the lone goal for Punjab A. Anwar Hussain International, Irfan Tahir, and Abdul Sattar supervised this match. Captain Usman, General Manager of Legal Army Welfare Trust, was the special guest for this match.The second match of the day was played between Balochistan A and Gilgit-Baltistan. Balochistan won the match with a score of 2-0 against Gilgit-Baltistan. Both goals were scored by Usman. Imran Naqvi, Manager Finance A WTT, was the chief guest for this match. Umpires Mohammad Salim, Wasim, and Shahzeb Khan supervised this match. Mohammad Faheem Qureshi, Director NAB Islamabad, was the special guest for this match.The third match of the day was between Pakistan WAPDA and Balochistan B. Pakistan WAPDA won easily with a score of 10-0 against Balochistan B. Tauseeq and Abdul Rahman scored two goals each for WAPDA. Umpires Rizwan Asad and Malik Irfan supervised this match.The fourth match of the day was played between Mari Petroleum Corporation and Punjab B. Mari Petroleum Corporation won the match easily with a score of 10-0 against Punjab B. Naveed Alam and Sufyan scored two goals each for Mari Petroleum Corporation, while Arbaz Ali Anwar, Hasher, and Rehan Butt each scored one goal. Officers Ali Bilal and Zahid Hameed supervised this match.

National Hockey Championship: Army beat Gilgit Baltistan 13-0
RAWAPINDI (Press Release): Pakistan Army thrashed Gilgit Baltistan 13-0nin the 67th National Hockey Championship, which is in progress at the lt. Gen. Ishfaq Nadeem Hockey Stadium in Rawalpindi, a collaborative effort by the Pakistan Hockey Federation and the Army Welfare Trust. The championship's fifth day witnessed a series of matches where special guests graced each encounter. In the first match, Pakistan Army faced off against Gilgit Baltistan, emerging victorious with a remarkable 13-0 score. Led by Osman's four goals, the Army's strong performance showcased their prowess on the field, while Shafqat and Ahmed Suroor, among others, contributed to the commanding win. The match was supervised by Umpire Asif Ali and Shahzaib, with Rizwan Khan serving as the reserve umpire. The second match saw Sindh A and Rangers engaged in a fierce battle, resulting in a draw of 0-0. Both teams displayed exceptional defense, with the match ending without any goals. The umpires for this match were Amir Hamza and Waqas Butt, with Mohammad Salim as the reserve umpire.In the third match, Balochistan B faced off against Islamabad, securing a victory with a score of 2-1. Madthur from Balochistan B shone bright, scoring both goals, while Adil contributed a goal for Islamabad. The umpires for this match were Wasim and Zahid Hamid, with Irfan Malik serving as the reserve umpire. The fourth match witnessed a clash between Pakistan WAPDA and the Police team. Pakistan WAPDA showcased their supremacy with a convincing 5-1 win, highlighting their excellent teamwork and skill on the field. Aziz and Aleem Bilal led the scoring for Pakistan WAPDA, while Atif Baig scored for the Police team. Umpires Bilal and Fahad supervised this thrilling match, with Abdul Sattar as the reserve umpire.The fifth match pitted Pakistan Customs against Azad Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in a dominant 10-1 victory for Pakistan Customs. Abdul Mannan's hat-trick and contributions from Ghazanfar and Baqar propelled Pakistan Customs to a commanding win. Waqar scored the solitary goal for Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Umpires Asad Abbas and Wajahat officiated the match, with Irfan Tahir as the reserve umpire. Looking ahead, five matches are scheduled for October 17th, promising more intense hockey action and fierce competition. Punjab A will face Pakistan Airforce, Balochistan A will clash with Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan WAPDA will go against Balochistan B, Mardan Petroleum will challenge Punjab B, and Sindh A will compete with Port Qasim in what is sure to be an action-packed day of hockey.

Ishfaq Nadeem Hockey Stadium Rawalpindi. The fourth day of this championship witnessed a series of riveting matches.In the first match of the day, Punjab B faced off against Balochistan A. Punjab B emerged victorious, securing a resounding 13-0 victory. Hasan Shahbaz stood out for Punjab B, scoring 4 goals, with Shah Jahan, Amjad Ali, and Danesh adding to the tally. The match was supervised by Irfan Tahir, Fahad Ali Khan, and Rizwan Khan.The second match saw Punjab A clashing with Sindh B. Punjab A emerged triumphant with a score of 8-4 against Sindh B. Ahmad Raza starred for Punjab A, scoring a hat-trick, while Saeed Babar, Yasser Hasim, and Aamer Sahil each contributed a goal. Sindh B's efforts were led by Ishtiaq, Javaid, and Imad, each netting a goal. The match was overseen by Asad Abbas, Mohammad Bilal, and Abdul Sattar.In the third match, Punjab Police went head-to-head against Islamabad. Punjab Police secured a 4-1 victory against Islamabad. Tauseef, Rashid, Atif, and Zahid Khan scored for Punjab Police, while Adil netted the sole goal for Islamabad. Dawood scored both goals for Rangers. The match was officiated by umpires Zahid Hameed, Ameer Hamza, and reserve umpire Wasim Abbas.Port Qasim beat KPK 5-1 in the last match of the day at the same venue. General Nadeem Ashfaq Hockey Stadium, Ayub Park Rawalpindi.On the third day of the championship, Dr. Syed Junaid Ali Shah, the Minister of Sports Sindh, was the special guest. He was warmly welcomed and presented with a bouquet of flowers. The chief guest was introduced to the players and officials.On this occasion, former Provincial Minister of Sindh Women Development and Vice President of Pakistan Hockey Federation Syeda Shehla Raza, Secretary General PHF Haider Hussain, Hockey Legend and Tournament Director Olympian Hanif Khan, Olympian Nasir Ali, Olympian Mossadegh Hussain, Olympian Shakeel Abbasi, Punjab Hockey Association Secretary Lt. Col. R. Asif Naz Khokhar, Ehsan Ulllah International, Olympian Waqas Akbar, Olympian Tariq Aziz, Olympian Umar Bhatta, Olympian Arshad Khan Olympian Rahim Khan, Olympian Mohammad Javed, Rana Shafiq International, Saeed Khan International, Shuja Iqbal Raja Congress. Member PHF, Raja Shahid Iqbal were also present.Pakistan Navy overcome Port Qasim (3-2): Pakistan Navy overcame Port Qasim 3-2 in a well-contested four quarters game. Osman Ali scored 2 goals and Imad scored 1 for Pakistan Navy, while Arif scored the only goal for Port Qasim. Amir Hamza, Zahid Hamid, and Afsar Khan performed the duties of umpires in the first match of the day.KPK A beat Balochistan B (4-0): In the second match, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa defeated Balochistan B 4-0, with Zakria netted the ball twice while Samiullah and Imad scored each 1 goal for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The match was supervised by umpires Wasim Abbas, Erfan Taher, and Asad Abbas.Army outplay Balochistan A (15-0): The third match saw Pakistan Army dominate Balochistan A, securing a 15-0 victory. Osman and Mehran each scored 4 goals, Rahman Ali and Owais Junior scored 2 goals each, while Sarwar Shahbaz and Owais scored 1 goal each. The match was supervised by umpires Wajahat Jangooa, Shahzaib, and Malik Irfan.PAF thrash AJK (14-3): Pakistan Air Force emerged victorious over Azad Jammu and Kashmir with a score of 14-3 in the penultimate match of the day. Abdul Rahman scored 6 goals, Mushtaq scored 3, and Junaid scored 2 for Pakistan Air Force, while Mobashir scored 2 and Umar Zaib scored 1 for Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The match was supervised by umpires Abdul Sattar, Rizwan Khan, and Muhammad Bilal.Pakistan Customs defeat Punjab A (2-0): In the final match of the day, Pakistan Customs overpowered Punjab A with a score of 2-0. General Nadeem Ashfaq Hockey Stadium, Ayub Park Rawalpindi.Mari Petroleum outclassed Gilgit-Baltistan in a one-sided affair by 15-0 in the day's opening match. Arshad was top scorer with 4 goals for Mari Petroleum, followed by Sufyan with 3, and Amir Sattar and Hasher Ali with 2 goals each. Ali and Rahman Butt also contributed a goal apiece. The match was officiated by umpires Afsar Ali Shahzib and Zahid Hamid.In the second encounter of the day, Pakistan Police overcame Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 3-2. Zahid Khan netted the ball twice while Jameel Bostan added one goal for the police, while Shahbaz and Waqaz scored one goal each for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Umpires Yaser Khurshid, Anwar Hussain, and Wajhat Jangoo supervised the match.In the third match of the day, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa B and Pakistan Rangers went head to head. General Nadeem Ashfaq Hockey Stadium, Ayub Park Rawalpindi on Thursday.The championship is being jointly organized by the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) and the Army Welfare Trust (AWT). Managing Director, Army Welfare Trust Lt. General Nadeem Mukhtar graced the opening ceremony as chief guest. Also, Major General (Retd) Asghar Nawaz, PHF Vice President Shehla Raza, Secretary General Haider Hussain, Hockey Legends Olympian Abdul Hanif Khan, Olympian Nasir Ali, Olympian Shakeel Abbasi, Secretary of Punjab Hockey Association Lt. Col. R. Asif Naz Khokhar, Ehsan Ullah, International, Olympian Waqas Akbar, Olympian Tariq Aziz, Olympian Umar Bhatta, Olympian Arshad Olympian Rahim Khan, Rana Shafiq International, Raja Shuja, Raja Shahid were present on this occasion.Police beat Balochistan (4-1):In the first match of the day Pakistan Police beat Balochistan 4-1 after completing all four quarters. Jameel, Bustan, Umeer, and Usman scored one goal each for the Police while Abdul Nafe scored the solitary goal for Balochistan B. Umpires Amir Hamza Asad Abbas, and Rizwan Khan supervised the match.Pakistan Customs stun Sindh B (10-1):Pakistan Customs stunned Sindh B 10-1 in the second match of the day. Bilal was the top scorer of the match, as he netted the ball thrice during the 60-minute game. Hamza also scored 3 goals for the winning team. National Hockey Championship to start October 12, 2023 Rawalpindi
Sports Bulletin ReportRAWALPINDI: Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) on Saturday announced that the 67th National Hockey Championship would be held at the Lt. General Ashfaq Nadeem Hockey Stadium, Ayub Park, Rawalpindi from October 12 to 23, 2023.According to an official, the tournament will be conducted in collaboration with the Army Welfare Trust (AWT). Hockey top national event will feature the participation of affiliated provincial units and departmental teams associated with the PHF. This significant event is being organized under the joint venture of the PHF and the Army Welfare Trust.

Azadi Cup Hockey Tournament: Pakistan WAPDA become champions
WAPDA overcome host team Mari Petroleum Company Limited 3-2 in finalAbdul Jabbar FaisalRAWALPINDI: Pakistan WAPDA overcame host team Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) 3-2 in the final of the 2nd Mari Petroleum Azdi Cup Hockey Tournament 2023 here at Lieutenant General Ashfaq Nadeem Hockey Stadium Ayub Park.Umar Bhatta, Tossiq Arshad, and Salman Razzak scored goal for WAPDA while Mohammad Sufyan Khan and Arbaaz Ahmed scored one goal each for Mari Petroleum. Yasir Khursheed International and Ameer Hamza performed the duties of umpiring while Asad Abbas and Irfan Tahir were reserve umpires. Technical Officials were Murtaza Bhatti, Asif Baig, Hamza Tufail, Gulfam Khokhar, Akhtar Ali and Rafiqur Rahman performed the responsibilities of judges well. At the end of the final match, the chief guest, Chairman Fuji Group of Companies, Waqar Ahmad Malik awarded the Pakistan WAPDA winning trophy along with prize money Rs 1.5 million. On this occasion, Secretary General Pakistan Hockey Federation Syed Haider Hussain, Syeda Shehla Raza, Tournament Director Olympian Nasir Ali, Olympian Shahnaz Sheikh, Olympian Naeem Akhtar, Olympian Saeed Khan, Olympian Rahim Khan, Olympian Danish Kaleem, Rana Shafiq International, Tournament Organizing Secretary Col. Mohammad Yamin, Assistant Tournament Director Major Tariq Wark, Assistant Tournament Director Raja Shuja Iqbal, Umpires Manager Zulfiqar Hussain, Assistant Umpires Manager Kamran Shah, Assistant Umpires Manager Mubarak Ali, and Assistant Media Coordinator Mohammad Hafeez were present.

Hockey News: Training camp to start on Monday in Capital City Islamabad
Federation makes a change in the selection Committee, Mohammad Shafiq to replace Shakil AbbasiAbdul Jabbar FaisalISLAMABAD: Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) invited 36 players from different departments for the training camp for the upcoming Asian Games 2023, which will be rolled into action from August 21 (Monday) here at Nasser Bunda Hockey Stadium, Pakistan Sports Complex under the supervision of Shahnaz Sheikh. The Asian Games will be held from September 23 to October 8 in Hangzhou, China. According to the media department of PHF, all players have been advised to report to the camp commandant and head coach, Olympian Shahnaz Shaikh, on August 21st before 4 pm. Also, PHF designated Rana Mohammad Shafiq, a former gold medalist in the World Hockey Cup, as a member of the National Hockey Selection Committee after the approval of President PHF, Brig (Retd) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar. Rana Mohammad Shafiq, who clinched gold medals in the 1978 Asian Games and the 1978 World Cup, participated in 33 international matches. Rana Mohammad Shafiq has also served various roles within the national hockey teams, including manager, coach, selector, and camp commandant. Rana Mohammad Shafiq will replace Olympian Shakeel Abbasi.Also, PHF finalized the team management, as the president PHF Khalid Sajjad Khokhar nominated Olympian Shahnaz Shaikh (Head Coach/Camp Commandant), Olympian Dilawar Hussain, Olympian Shakeel Abbasi (coaches), and Amjad Ali (goalkeeper coach). Saeed Khan will be team manager while Brigadier Mohammad Yusuf Baig will be team doctor. Rana Nasrullah Khan's appointment has been as a physical trainer. Mohsin Hasan scored the only goal for Pakistan Air Force.The second match was played between Army Colours and Punjab Rangers. Pakistan Army exhibited a remarkable game and thrashed opponents 5-1.
