Islamabad to face Lahore in Inter-Division Basketball final
Sports Bulletin ReportISLAMABAD: Islamabad and Lahore division emerges victorious in the thrilling semifinal matches of the ongoing Inter-Division National Basketball Championship at Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad. Basketball Federation (PBBF) Secretary General Khalid Bashir, Federal Basketball Association (FBBA) Secretary General Ouj E Zahoor, Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Deputy Director General Saeed Akhtar and other dignities were witnessed two exhilarating semifinal matches of the championship which held under the supervision of the Federal Basketball Association. The first semifinal featured a nail-biting showdown between the talented squads of Islamabad and Peshawar. The match had fans on the edge of their seats as both teams displayed exceptional skills and fierce determination. After an intense battle, it was Islamabad that emerged victorious with a final score of 67 to 59 points.Asharab Butt shone as the star player for Islamabad, leading his team with a remarkable 18 points. He was ably supported by Rizwan Khursheed, who contributed 12 crucial points. Peshawar's efforts were led by Abdul Wahab, who scored 14 points, and Mohammad Faisal, who added 13 more to their total.The second semifinal featured a dominant performance from Lahore, as they secured an easy win with a final score of 81 to 48 points against defending champion Faisalabad.Lahore's Safiullah was the standout player, contributing a staggering 22 points to his team's victory. Taimoor Mehdi also played a vital role with 17 points to his name. For Faisalabad, Usman Talib emerged as the top scorer with 11 points, followed closely by Hassan Tariq, who also added 11 points to the scoreboard.

Inter-Division Basketball Championship: Lahore reach semifinals
Sports Bulletin ReportISLAMABAD: Lahore division have qualified for the semifinal after defeating host Islamabad in the last leg of the Pool round of the ongoing Inter-Division National Basketball Championship Grade A here at Pakistan Sports Complex .According to the Federal Basketball Association (FBBA) Secretary General and championship organising secretary Ouj E Zahoor, Lahore division continued their winning streak and outclassed Islamabad with an impressive score of 78-50. Taimour Mehdi scored 14 and Safiullah scored 12 points for Lahore while Ashrab Butt scored 14 points for Islamabad. In the second match, the Peshawar Division showed their mettle, securing a fantastic victory with the support of Faisal Bakhtawar 18 points and Abdul Wahab 16 points against defending champion Faisalabad Division with a match score of 58-41.In the third match, Karachi brought their A-game to defeat Gujranwala with a score of 64-58 points while In a thrilling contest, Rawalpindi proved their prowess by defeating Hazara with a score of 88-42  points. Peshawar will battle it out against Islamabad in the first semifinal match while the second semifinal of the championship will be played between Lahore and Faisalabad.

Sports Bulletin ReportISLAMABAD: Besides, defending champion Faisalabad, Peshawar, and Islamabad advanced into the semifinals after winning the second consecutive pool round matches of the ongoing Inter-Division National Basketball Championship Grade A at Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad on Monday.The Federal Basketball Association (FBBA) continued to deliver an exciting spectacle on the second day of the Championship Grade A, as four highly anticipated matches unfolded, each showcasing the incredible basketball talent of Pakistan.President Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) Brig (Retd) Mohammad Iftikhar Mansoor, International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Referee Instructor Abdul Karim Shakeb, Federal Basketball Association (FBBA) Secretary General Ouj E Zahoor, Azam Dar and other dignities were also present on the second day of the championship. In the opening match of day two, Faisalabad division once again demonstrated their prowess on the court by defeating Gujranwala with a final score of 59-42 points. Rana Bilawal scored 19 and Hanan Khan scored 15 points for winning team.The most thrilling match of the day unfolded in the final showdown between Rawalpindi and Islamabad. After the first quarter, Rawalpindi held a nine-point lead, scoring 20 points to Islamabad's 11. But as the game progressed, the Islamabad team slowly clawed their way back into the match. In an electrifying showdown, Islamabad triumphed with a score of 66-54, stunning the crowd with their comeback. Ashrab Butt scored 19 points and Bakhtawar Taimour scored 10 points for Islamabad division.The third match witnessed Peshawar taking on Karachi. Peshawar's team outsmarted their opponents, securing a 77-63 victory with their exceptional game play with the support of Muhammad Bilal scored 24 points and Abdul Wahab 21points. Sports Bulletin ReportISLAMABAD: Defending champion Faisalabad, Islamabad, Lahore, and Peshawar have won their matches on the opening day of the Inter-Division National Basketball Championship Grade A, fans were treated to a series of electrifying matchups at Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad.The action-packed day featured four intense contests, showcasing the best basketball talent in Pakistan organised by the Federal Basketball Association (FBBA) under the supervision of the Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF).The first match of day one saw the defending champion Faisalabad division facing off against Karachi division, and it was Faisalabad that emerged victorious with a final score of 50-39, demonstrating their prowess on the court. Mohammad Usman Abbas scored 13 points and Hassan Bhatti scored 10 points from the winning team while Anas Asher scored 11 points for the Karachi division.The excitement continued in the second match as Peshawar clashed with Gujranwala. Peshawar's team displayed their dominance, scoring 80 points against Gujranwala's 63, securing a well-deserved win with the support of Abdul Wahab who scored 37 points. In the third match, Lahore went head to head with Rawalpindi, and it was Lahore that triumphed with a final score of 78-61, impressing the fans with their skillful gameplay.The day concluded with the Islamabad team taking on Hazara, and the contest was a spectacle of basketball finesse. Islamabad outclassed Hazara with a score of 70-54, marking a victorious end to the opening day of this highly anticipated championship. Rizwan Khurshaid scored 21 points for the winning side while Mohammad Atif scored 20 points for Hazara Division. Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Deputy Director General Chaudhry Saeed Akhtar, Director PSB Mohammad Faizan, Fida Mohammad Khan, Federal Basketball Association Secretary General Ouj E Zahoor, Head Coach Malik Riaz, Dr. Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera, Mohammad Azam Dar and a large number of fans have witnessed the matches on the opening day.

“FIBA Basketball for Good” Program Third Phase Concludes in Islamabad
Mohammad Azam DarISLAMABAD: The third phase of the FIBA Foundation's "Basketball for Good program" concluded on Monday with a resounding success, leaving a positive impact on the lives of over 90 girls from diverse schools held here at the Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex.The two-day event aimed to promote sports, teamwork, and empowerment among young girls held under the vigilant supervision of Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) Associate Secretary and Federal Basketball Association (FBBA) General Secretary, Ouj E Zahoor, the "Ball In Street" event marked the third segment of the FIBA Foundation's Basketball for Good program, following successful events in Multan and Lahore.National Coaches, Riaz Malik and Umer Mahmood, took the lead with their exceptional coaching skills. They were joined by an illustrious team of coaches, including Naveed Ahmed, Yasir Ghafoor, Yasir Mujtaba, and Prem Shehzad, who conducted informative sessions on coaching skills, training, modern techniques, and basketball games, inspiring the young participants to pursue their basketball dreams.The concluding ceremony witnessed esteemed guests, with Chairperson of Karim Khan Afridi Welfare Foundation (KKAWF) Cristina von Sperling Afridi, and President Federal Basketball Association (FBBA) Ejaz Rafi Butt, serving as the chief guests. Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) Associate Secretary Ouj E Zahoor, National Basketball Team Coach Riaz Malik, and other dignitaries also graced the event with their presence.As a symbol of achievement and encouragement, certificates were distributed among all the participants at the end of the coaching workshop. Basketball News: Islamabad and WAPDA qualify for final
Islamabad beat Karachi Green, WAPDA outclass Lahore in Women’s Championship semifinalsSports Bulletin ReportKARACHI:-Islamabad and WAPDA qualified for the final of the National Women’s Basketball Championship after beating their opponents Karachi Greens and Lahore respectively 34-29, 70-20 here on Friday.In the first semifinal, Pakistan WAPDA outclassed Lahore 70-20, as Kainat was the topper with 29 points while Sherish and Amina contributed 10 and 7 points in the team’s total after completing all four quarters. Faryal, Feroze, and Hadiqa scored 5, 4, and 2 points for Lahore.Meanwhile, in the second semifinal, Islamabad’s women created history after defeating Karachi Green by 34-29 in a well-contest game. Asima, Amina, and Marium scored 13, 9, and 8 points respectively for the winners. Rida Noor was top scorer with 14 points while Hareem Zubair,  and Yumna Sohani scored 9, and 2 points.

Basketball News: National Training camp begins again in Sports Complex

Basketball News: PBBF selects 25 players for national training camp
Sports Bulletin ReportISLAMABAD:-The selection committee of the Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) has selected 25 players for the national training camp after analyzing their performance in three-day trials at Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad, as the training camp will get underway from May 10 at the same venue.According to an official of PBBF, the three days trials were held to select the probable for the national camp under the control of PBBF, as 80 players from different affiliated units of federation took part in the trials.The national selection committee was headed by Col. (Retd) Shujaat Ali Rana, while the members of the committee included Mohammad Riaz Malik and Maudood Jafri, who shortlisted the names of the players for the training camp.Secretary PBBF, Khalid Bashir said:"The selection of basketball players for the national team is a complex process that involves a variety of factors. The selected players will go through extensive training plan to enhance their skills and fitness standard during national camp. Basketball News: National Team’s trials to commence on May 5
Abdul Jabbar FaisalISLAMABAD:-The 3-day trials to select the national basketball will start from May 5, 2023 at Pakistan Sports Complex under the supervision of Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF), as the top national players have been invited for selecting process from all over the country; this was announced by Associate Secretary PBBF Ouj E Zahoor on Wednesday.“The top national basketball lads players nominated by the affiliated departments, provinces, and divisions of the Pakistan Basketball Federation will participate in the three-day trials, which will start on May 5 and continue till May 7 at the Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad, as the best performer will be picked up for Pakistan team, which will visit Maldives at the end of this year, “he further added.“The national selection committee headed by chief selector Colonel (retd) Shujaat Ali Rana and other members including Mohammad Riaz Malik, Malik Ijaz and Maudood Jafri will observe the participating players during the trials. The national selection committee will shortlist the names of the players for the training camp of the national basketball team after the three-day trials, “he said.“Pakistan will take part in a 4-nation basketball championship that will be in Maldives this year 2023. The secretary General PBBF Khalid Bashir will announce the training and coaching plan for the selected players as the national team will go through extensive training camp for the preparation of the international event, “he concluded.

Islamabad win Quaid-e-Azam Cup Inter-Division Basketball Crown
Mohammad Azam Dar ISLAMABAD, Feb 01: Islamabad defeated Faisalabad Division 52-49 points after a nerve-wracking match to win the crown of Quaid-e-Azam Cup Inter-Division Basketball Tournament here at Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex. Islamabad Reds, Gujranwala, Peshawar, Hazara, Islamabad Blues and Faisalabad Division participated in the tournament based on pool rounds matches organised by the Federal Basketball Association (FBBA). In the decisive final, there was a tough competition between Islamabad Reds and Faisalabad Division was seen as until half-time, Faisalabad was leading by 26 points against 24. Islamabad players Yasir Abbas and Attique Khan took four consecutive points in the last minute of the final to play vital role in Islamabad becoming champion of the tournament, beating Faisalabad by 52-49 points. Yasir Abbas scored 22, Attique Khan 14, Rizwan Khursheed scored 12 points respectively for Islamabad’s victory.  Chief guest Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Ehsan Mazari distributed prizes among the players and officials in the closing ceremony and also appreciated the efforts made by Pakistan Basketball Federation and Federal Basketball Association for the promotion of basketball. Also, Commander North Rear Admiral Masood Khurshid, Acting Director General Pakistan Sports Board Mohammad Abrar, Secretary General of Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) Khalid Bashir, Secretary Organizing Committee Ouj E Zahoor, Senior Vice President PBBF Imtiaz Rafi Butt, President Federal Basketball Association Ejaz Butt, Former Coach of national basketball team Malik M Riaz, DDG and PSB Ch Saeed Akhtar and sizeable spectators witnessed the final match.
