Century 99 Punjab Polo Cup: Master Paints qualify for subsidiary final

LAHORE: Master Paints qualified for the subsidiary final of the Century 99 Punjab Cup Polo Tournament after winning an important match of two chukkers played among three teams under the American system here at the Lahore Polo Club on Thursday.
Master Paints, DS Polo and Lone Wolves vie against each other in the match played under American system. Master Paints won their first match against DS Polo, which they won by a narrow margin of 3½-3. Manuel Carranza emerged as hero of the match as he contributed with a beautiful brace of goals while Manuel Crespo converted one goal for Master Paints, which had a half goal handicap advantage. Bautista Garcia, Javier Guerrero and Daniyal Sheikh scored one goal each for DS Polo. John Fisher and Chris Hyde supervised the match as field umpires.
After that, Master Paints recorded a thrashing victory against Lone Wolves with a huge margin of 7-0 to earn a place in the subsidiary final. Manuel Crespo played a hero’s role in the Master Paints’ victory this time as he fired in four fantastic goals while Manuel Carranza thrashed in two tremendous goals and Agha Musa Ali Khan converted scored one goal. Joh Fisher and Chris Hyder were the field umpires.
DS Polo was the other team in the match that registered a lone victory against Lone Wolves by 6-2½. Bautista Garcia was the top scorer from the winning side as he hammered a hat-trick of goals while Javier Guerrero hammered a brace of goals and Daniyal Sheikh converted one goal. Mumtaz Abbas Niazi and Amirreza Behboudi pumped in one goal each for Lone Wolves. John Fisher and Chris Hyde officiated the match as field umpires.
A large number of spectators were present at the Lahore Polo Club to watch the tournament that was organized in collaboration with Century 99. Lahore Polo Club President Umar Sadiq, executive committee members and a large number of polo lovers were also present on this occasion and witnessed and enjoyed the enthralling and exciting matches.
BN Polo, FG Polo and Newage Cables/Master Paints score wins

LAHORE: BN Polo, FG Polo and Newage Cables/Master Paints registered victories on the second day of the Century 99 Punjab Polo Cup Tournament 2023 here at the historic Lahore Polo Club on Wednesday.
Juan Maria Ruiz Guinazu played a hero’s role in the BN Polo’s convincing 10-7 triumph over HN Polo in the first match of the day. Hero Juan Maria Ruiz did the magic with mallet and pony and contributed with splendid six goals while sensational Raja Mikael Sami slammed in three goals, Roberto Iturrioz Arias struck one goal. For Team HN Polo, which had two goals handicap advantage, veteran Raja Samiullah and Haider Naseem banged in a brace each while Ibrahim Khalil converted one goal.
BN Polo dominated the match right from the beginning and fired in four fabulous goals in the first chukker to gain a 4-0 lead. BN Polo maintained their dominance in the second chukker as they added five more goals in their tally against one by HN Polo to stretch their lead to 9-1. The only goal of the third chukker was converted by HN Polo to reduce the margin to 9-2. The fourth and last chukker saw HN Polo hammering a hat-trick of goals against one by BN Polo, who won the match by 10-7, as HN Polo had two goals handicap advantage.
Phenomenal Raul Laplacette steered FG Polo to an imposing 7-3½ victory over Remounts in the second match of the day. Raul Laplacette emerged as hero of the day for FG Polo as he fired in four fabulous goals while Mian Abbas Mukhtar thrashed in two goals and Saqib Khan Khakwani scored one goal. Jota Chavanne converted all the three goals for Team Remounts while they had a handicap advantage of a half goal.
FG Polo thrashed in two field goals to earn a 2-0 lead in the first chukker. They played more aggressively in the second chukker and fired in four more goals to enhance their lead to 6-0. They added one more goal in their tally to make it 7-0 while Remounts hammered a hat-trick of goals to reduce the margin to 3-7. No more goals were scored in the third chukker, thus FG Polo winning the match by 7-3½ as Remounts had a half goal handicap advantage.
Simon Prada’s heroics helped Newage Cables/Master Paints to an emphatic 7-3 win over DS Polo Team in the third and final match of the day. Simon Prada was in sublime form and exhibited excellent mallet and pony work while smashing in superb six goals while Juan Cruz Greguol converted one goal for Newage Cables/Master Paints. Bautista Garcia thrashed in two goals while Javier Guerrero struck one goal for DS Polo.
DS Polo began the match with a field goal to take a 1-0 lead but Newage/Master Paints bounced back by banging in a brace to have a 2-1 lead by the end of the first chukker. The second chukker was identical to the first one as DS Polo converted one but Newage/Master Paints replied strongly and banged in another brace to gain a 4-2 lead and they further stretched it to 6-2 with another brace in the third chukker. The fourth and last chukker saw both the sides scoring one goal each, thus Newage/Master Paints winning the match by 7-3½ as DS Polo had a half goal handicap advantage.
John Fisher and Chris Hyde supervised all the three matches as field umpires. The only match will be played between three teams under the American system on Thursday (February 9).
Century 99 Cup: Newage/Master Paints, Diamond Paints win openers

LAHORE: Newage Cables/Master Paints and Diamond Paints won the opening day matches of the Century 99 Punjab Polo Cup Tournament that got underway on Tuesday here at the historic Lahore Polo Club.
The first day of the first tournament of the high-goal season saw a large number of spectators, families and children watching the enthralling matches in a beautiful weather. Lahore Polo Club President Umar Sadiq, Executive Committee members Agha Murtaza Ali Khan, Shah Qubilai Alam, Saqib Khakwani, Agha Najeeb Raza and polo players were also present on this occasion.
Juan Cruz Greguol’s heroics helped Newage Cables/Master Paints outpace Master Paints team by 7-5½ in the first match of the day. Greguol played a great game and scored two goals in the first chukker of the match to give his side a lead that remained intact till the final chukker, thus his side emerging as triumphant.
Greguol contributed with three tremendous goals while Simon Prado banged in a beautiful brace and Raja Temur Nadeem and Adnan Jalil Azam converted one goal each. On the other hand, Manuel Carranza also played superb polo and fired in all the five goals for Master Paints, which had a half goal handicap advantage, yet his efforts couldn’t yield fruit for his team.
Newage/Master Paints were off to a flying start as they fired in two imposing goals through Greguol to gain a 2-0 lead in the first chukker. Carranza then thrashed in two back-to-back goals to equalize the score at 2-2 but Raja Temur struck a stunning one to give 3-2 lead Newage/Master Paints just before the end of the second chukker.
A tremendous team work was witnessed in the third chukker when each player of Newage/Master Paints – Adnan Jalil, Simon Prado and Greguol with the help of Raja Temur – fired in four fantastic goals to earn a healthy 7-2 lead. Just before the end of the chukker, Carranza cracked a classic field goal to reduce the margin to 7-3. The fourth and last chukker saw Carranza pumping in two more back-to-back goals to make it 7-5 yet it was too little too late for Master Paints, which lost the match by 5½-7. John Fisher and Chris Hyde were field umpires while Juan Maria Ruiz Guinazu was match referee.
Chulo Corti dazzled in Diamond Paints’ emphatic 9-3½ victory over Lone Wolves in the second match of the opening day. Chulo Corti was impressive with mallet and polo pony and fired in five fantabulous goals. He was ably supported by his teammates Nico Roberts and Ahmed Ali Tiwana, who slammed in two and one goal respectively for Diamond Paints. Amirreza Behboudi, Bilal Haye and Raja Jalal Arsalan converted one goal each for Lone Wolves, which had a half goal handicap advantage.
Diamond Paints started the match with two back-to-back goals to take a 2-0 lead, which was further enhanced in the second chukker, when they added four more goals in their tally to stretch their lead to 6-0. The third chukker saw both the sides scoring one goal each, making it 7-1 while they banged in a brace each in the fourth and last chukker to make it 9-3, thus Diamond Paints emerging as victorious by 9-3½. John Fisher and Chris Hyde were field umpires while Juan Maria Ruiz Guinazu was match referee.
Three matches will be played on Wednesday (February 8) afternoon. The first match will be between BN Polo and HN Polo at 1:00 pm, the second encounter will be contested between FG Polo and Remounts at 2:00 pm while the third and last match of the day will take place between Newage Cables/Master Paints and DS Polo at 3:00 pm.
Remington Pharma clinch Allama Iqbal Polo Tournament Trophy

LAHORE: Remington Pharma won the title of the 3rd Allama Iqbal Polo Tournament sponsored by Lahore Smart City after beating Diamond Paints by 9½-7 in the final played here at the Jinnah Polo Fields on Sunday.
Remington Pharma registered an impressive 9½-7 triumph over Diamond Paints in a challenging and exciting final. Phenomenal Hamza Mawaz Khan emerged as hero of the final as he gave a brilliant performance and malleted eight excellent goals for Remington Pharma, which had also a half goal handicap advantage, while the remaining one was beautifully converted by Ahmed Bilal Riaz.
Nico Roberts though played outstanding polo and impressed the spectators with beautiful mallet and pony work and also fired in five fabulous goals while his teammates Bilal Hayat Noon and Mir Shoaib Ahmed slammed in one goal each, yet their efforts proved futile and they lost the title clash by 7-9½. John Fisher and Amirreza Behboudi supervised the match as field umpires.
Talking to media after clinching the title, Captain of Remington Pharma Hamza Mawaz Khan said: "The team Remington Pharma played very well in this season and it was because of hard work as well as team work due to which we have been recording title victories one after another. We will work harder and try to lift more titles in the remaining events of this season.”
Sharing his views, Basel Faisal Khokhar of Remington Pharma said: "My father Dr. Faisal Khokhar, mother Maryam Faisal Khokhar and the entire family is fully supporting me and it was due to their full support and buck up that I have reached this point. We have played this season well and now won this prestigious tournament as well. Now we are eager to add more titles in our titles tally.”
Earlier, FG/Din Polo won the in the subsidiary final by defeating Platinum Homes/Master Paints 9-6½. Remiro Zavellata smashed in superb six goals while Mian Abbas Mukhtar banged in a brace and Shah Shamyl Alam scored one goal. For Platinum Homes/Master Paints, which had a half goal handicap advantage, Amirreza Behboudi cracked a quartet while Agha Musa Ali Khan and Qadeer Ashfaq scored one goal each. John Fisher and Ahmad Khan officiated the match as field umpires.
The chief guest on the occasion was Project Director Lahore Smart City Brig Mohammad Nadeem Aslam (R), who distributed prizes among the winners at the prize distribution ceremony. Jinnah Polo Fields President Lt Col Shoaib Aftab (R), Secretary Maj Ali Taimur (R) and a large number of spectators were also present there to witness and enjoy the enthralling final on the occasion of Kashmir Day.
Allama Iqbal Polo: Remington Pharma, Diamond Paints qualify for final

LAHORE: Remington Pharma and Diamond Paints qualified for the main final of the 3rd Allama Iqbal Polo Tournament 2023 after defeating their respective opponents in the semifinals played here at the Jinnah Polo Fields on Friday.
Hamza Mawaz Khan’s heroics helped Remington Pharma outclass Master Paints/Newage Cables by 10-1 in the first semifinal of the day. Hamza Mawaz Khan was in sublime form and played outstanding polo throughout the semifinal as he fired in five fabulous goals while his teammates Ahmad Bilal Riaz and Basel Faisal Khokhar also played out their hearts and converted a beautiful brace each and Ahmad Zubair Butt struck one goal.
Master Paints/Newage Cables couldn’t resist their opponents well, thus conceding huge ten goals against one, scored by Adnan Jalil Azam. Remington Pharma dominated the entire match and kept on scoring in all the chukkers. Master Paints/Newage Cables just made their presence felt in the third chukker, when they converted lone goal of the match, thus Remington Pharma winning the match by a huge margin of 10-1. John Fisher and Amirreza Behboudi supervised the match as field umpires.
Nico Roberts shone in Diamond Paints’ impressive 10-6 triumph over SQ Seagold Polo in the second semifinal. Nico Roberts emerged as top scorer from the winning side with superb six goals while another top performer of the side was Mir Shoaib Ahmad, who thrashed in three tremendous goals while Lt Col Omer Minhas (R) converted one goal. Raja Jalal Arslan displayed outstanding mallet and pony skills and fired in four fabulous goals while Omer Asjad Malhi and Shiraz Qureshi scored one goal each for the losing side.
SQ Seagold Polo though started the match well and converted two goals but Diamond Paints made a strong comeback and thrashed in three goals to gain a slight 3-2 lead. Diamond Paints then dominated the second chukker and smashed in five goals against one by SQ Seagold to take a healthy 8-3 lead. They added two more in their tally against one by SQ Seagold to make it 10-4. The only two goals of the fourth and last chukker were converted by SQ Seagold, but they lost the crucial match by 6-10. John Fisher and Amirreza Behboudi officiated the match as field umpires.
On Sunday (February 5), the subsidiary final will be played between FG/Din Polo and Platinum Homes/Master Paints at 1:30 pm while the main final will be played between Remington Pharma and Diamond Paints.

LAHORE: Platinum Homes/Master Paints and FG/Din Polo qualified for the semifinals of the 3rd Allama Iqbal Polo Tournament sponsored by Lahore Smart City after winning their respective matches played here at the Jinnah Polo Fields on Thursday.
Four teams, which lost from Pool A and B, will compete against each other for the subsidiary final. In the matches played at the Pakistan Park Cavalry Ground on Thursday, Platinum Homes/Master Paints defeated BN Polo 7-4½ to qualify for the semifinal.
Amirreza Behboudi played exceptionally and fired in four goals while Agha Musa Ali Khan banged in a beautiful brace and Qadeer Ashfaq converted one for Platinum Homes/Master Paints. Haider Naseem pumped in two goals while Babar Naseem and Hamza Ejaz scored one goal each for BN Polo.
Platinum Homes/Master Paints were off to a flying start as they converted four goals against one by BN Polo to take a 4-1 lead by the end of the first chukker. The second and third chukkers were evenly poised as both the sides struck three goals each in both the chukkers, with Platinum Homes/Master Paints still enjoying a healthy 7-4. No more goals were scored in the fourth and last chukker, as Platinum Homes/Master Paints emerging as winners by 7-4½.
In the second match of the day, FG/Din Polo also qualified for semifinal by beating 4 Corps team 6-3. Abbas Mukhtar hammered three goals, Sheikh Muhammad Raffay scored two goals and Saqib Khan Khakwani one for FG/Din Polo. For 4 Corps, Lt Col Rab Nawaz Tiwana thrashed in two goals and Ibrahim Khalil struck one.
FG/Din Polo dominated the first and second chukkers fully and hammered two goals each in both the chukkers to gain a good 4-0 lead. The third chukker saw both the teams scoring one goal each with FG/Din Polo still enjoying a 5-1 lead. 4 Corps though played well in the fourth and last chukker by converting a brace against one by FG/Din Polo, but lost the match by 3-6. Both the semifinals will be played at Jinnah Polo Fields on Friday, as the first semifinal will be played at 2:00 pm, while the second semifinal will be contested at 3:00 pm.

Haider Naseem’s heroics helped BN Polo to beat 4 Corps by a narrow margin of 7½-7 in the first match of the day that was played here at Pakistan Park Cavalry Ground. Haider Naseem displayed outstanding polo and mallet skills and contributed with four fabulous goals while Raja Samiullah thrashed in three tremendous goals for BN Polo. Lt Col Rab Nawaz Tiwana played well for 4 Corps and fired in four goals while Raja Mohammad Mekayial Sami scored two goals and Ibrahim Khalil struck one for 4 Corps.
The second match also proved a thrilling encounter where Inara Polo/Black Horse Paints defeated Platinum Homes/Master Paints by a close margin of 6½-5. For Inara Polo/Black Horse Paints, Hissam Ali Hyder hammered four goals while Abdul Rehman Monnoo and Daniyal Shaikh struck one goal each. Amirreza Behboudi converted three tremendous goals while Agha Musa Ali Khan banged in a brace for Platinum Homes/Master Paints.
The third match saw dominance of Diamond Paints, who defeated FG/Din Polo by 7-4½. Nico Roberts emerged as hero of the match by smashing in six superb goals while Lt Col Omer Minhas (R) struck one goal for Diamond Pants. LAHORE: Remington Pharma defeated SQ Seagold Polo team by 8-6 on the seventh day of the 3rd Allama Iqbal Polo Tournament sponsored by Lahore Smart City here at the Jinnah Polo Fields on Monday.
From Remington Pharma, Hamza Mawaz Khan emerged as hero of the match as he played excellent polo and converted six superb goals out of eight while Ahmed Zubair Butt scored the remaining two goals for the winning team. Raja Jalal Arsalan hammered five goals and Qasim Khan struck one for SQ Seagold Polo team.
SQ Seagold opened the match with a field goal to take 1-0 a lead but Remington Pharma then made a strong comeback and fired in four back-to-back goals to earn a healthy 4-1 lead by the end of the first chukker. The second chukker was evenly poised as both the sides banged in a brace each with Remington Pharma still enjoying a 6-3 lead.
Both sides continued to play well and succeeded in converting one goal each in the third chukker, making it 7-4 in the end of the third chukker. The fourth and last chukker saw SQ Seagold playing better polo by converting a brace against one goal by Remington Pharma, who won the crucial encounter by a close margin of 8-6. AI Polo Cup: Diamond Paints, Master Paints/Newage emerge victorious

LAHORE: Diamond Paints and Master Paints/Newage Cables emerged victorious on the sixth day of the 3rd Allama Iqbal Polo Tournament sponsored by Lahore Smart City here at the Jinnah Polo Fields on Sunday.
In the first match of the day, Diamond Paints defeated Platinum Homes/Master Paints by 8-3½. From the winning team, CEO Diamond Paints Mir Shoaib Ahmed displayed outstanding mallet and polo skills and hammered three tremendous goals while Nico Roberts also converted three goals and Lt Col Omer Minhas banged in a brace. Amirreza Behboudi hammered all the three goals for Platinum Homes/Master, which had a half goal handicap advantage.
Diamond Paints made a good start by converting one goal each in the first two chukkers to gain a 2-0 lead. In the mid of the second chukker, Platinum Homes/Master Paints made a good comeback, converting two back-to-back goals to equalize the score at 2-2. The third chukker was fully dominated by Diamond Paints as they banged in another brace to take 4-2 while they they fired in four more goals against one by their opponents to win the match by 8-3½.
The second match took place in the rain which turned out to be very exciting one as Master Paints/Newage Cables edged pass FG/Din Polo by 8-7 in the dying moments of the match. Raja Temur Nadeem smashed in superb six goals while Adnan Jalil Azam struck one goal for Master Paints/Newage. For FG/Din Polo, Saqib Khan Khakwani hammered a hat-trick of goals while Shah Shamyl Alam banged in a brace and Sheikh Muhammad Raffay and Mian Abbas Mukhtar hit one goal each.
The match remained a see-saw battle from the word go till the last moment of the match. FG/Din Polo took a 2-1 lead in the first chukker, which was levelled by Master Paints at 3-3 in the second chukker. FG/Din Polo then managed to take a slight 6-5 lead in the third chukker but Master Paints made a good comeback in the fourth chukker and not only levelled the score at 7-7 but also smashed in the match-winning goal in the dying moment of the match to win it by 8-7.

Iranian player Amirreza Behboudi helped Platinum Homes/Master Paints to edge out FG/Din Polo 5-4 in the first match of the day. Amirreza smashed in four fabulous goals while Agha Musa Ali Khan struck the remaining one for Platinum Homes/Master Paints. Shah Shamyl Alam thrashed in two goals while Saqib Khan Khakwani and Sheikh Mohammad Raffay converted one goal each for FG/Din Polo.
FG/Din polo dominated the match right from the word go and banged in a brace to gain a 2-0 lead in the first chukker. Platinum Homes/Master Paints played well in the second chukker and converted two goals against one by FG/Din Polo, who were still enjoying a slight 3-2 lead. Platinum Homes maintained their authority in the third chukker by scoring both the goals to gain a 4-3 lead. The fourth and last chukker was evenly poised where both the sides struck one goal each, with Platinum Homes/Master Paints winning the match by a narrow margin of 5-4.
In the second fixture of the day, Nico Roberts guided his team Diamond Paints to an impressive 11-8½ win over Master Paints/ Newage Cables. Foreign player Nico Roberts did well with mallet and polo pony and pumped in five fantastic goals while his teammates played equally well and contributed significant goals in their team’s total. Lt Col Omer Minhas (R) hammered three goals while Mir Shoaib Ahmed struck twice and Bilal Hayat Noon once for Diamond Paints.
For Master Paints/Newage Cables, which had a handicap advantage of a half goal, Raja Temur Nadeem slammed in six superb goals while Farooq Amin Sufi converted two. Diamond Paints were off to a flying start and maintained their supremacy till the end. Despite Master Paints/Newage Cables trying to make good comebacks, Diamond Paints finished the match well and won it comfortably by 11-8½.
