JLA donates oldest sport Lacrosse equipment to Pakistan
Islamabad (PR): The Japan Lacrosse Association (JLA) has donated equipment to the Pakistan Lacrosse Federation (PLF) under the Sports Diplomacy Program. It should be noted that lacrosse is an ancient team sport played with a lacrosse stick and a lacrosse ball. It is the oldest organized sport in North America.On this occasion, Japan’s Deputy Chief of Mission Takano Shochi appreciated the rapidly growing popularity of lacrosse in Pakistan and said that the PLF has taken Pakistan lacrosse to a unique position in Asia by organizing more than 150 activities and two national championships in a year, the results will soon be come in the form of international medals.He assured that Japan would continue its full support in the promotion of lacrosse. It may be recalled that the Lacrosse Association and National Academy in Pakistan have been established under the auspices of the Pakistan Lacrosse Federation in Islamabad.The chief guest of the event was the Deputy Chief of Mission of Japan Takanoshuchi, while the Consul of the Japanese Embassy Takane Kazumasa, Cultural Advisor Rafi Haleem, Secretary General of Pakistan Lacrosse Federation Engineer Taifur Zareen, Assistant Professor of FCE Zahid, Urooj Jahangir other faculty members, Finance Secretary of Islamabad Lacrosse Irfan Khan and other office bearers and senior players Gul Pari, Sawira Khan, Fawzia Parveen, Muqaddas and other officials attended.

Inter-Provincial Quaid-e-Azam Games 2024: Punjab clinch title
Punjab athletes claim 79 gold medals, 52 silver and 42 bronze medals, KPK win second positionIslamabad (SBR): Punjab contingent with 173 medals including 79 gold medals, 52 silver and 42 bronze medals, won the week-long Inter-Provincial Quaid-e-Azam Games’ title that concluded here at Pakistan Sports Complex on Thursday. Secretary Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Nadeem Irshad Kiani was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony.Director General Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Yasir Pirzada, Additional Secretary IPC Zahoor Ahmed, Director General Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry, Director Admin Dr Mohammad Kaleem, Director Sports Rana Nadeem Anjum and other officials were also present at the closing ceremony.Secretary IPC Nadeem Irshad Kiani presented the winning trophy to Director General Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry and the other members of Punjab contingent. The jubilant athletes of Punjab contingent chanted slogans of ‘Punjab Zindabad’, ‘DG Sports Zindabad’ and danced at the closing ceremony after their overwhelming victory. They also lifted the Director General Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry on the shoulders to celebrate their splendid victory.Punjab Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Muzaffar Khan Sial and Director General Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry congratulated the Punjab athletes and sports officials for achieving remarkable victory in Inter-Provincial Quaid-e-Azam Games.Punjab Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar in a statement on Thursday said that the entire Punjab contingent offered excellent performance throughout the Quaid-e-Azam Games. “Every member of Punjab contingent deserved huge appreciation for their title winning performance”.Khyber Pakhtunkhwa bagged the second position with 96 medals including 27 gold medals, 31 silver and 38 bronze medals while Sindh finished third with 79 medals including 16 gold medals, 28 silver and 35 bronze medals. Punjab athletes, with 79 gold medals broke their own record of 74 medals, they achieved in the 2017 edition of Quaid-e-Azam Games

Quaid-e-Azam Games: Punjab maintain top position with 77 gold medals
Abdul Jabbar FaisalIslamabad: ThePunjab’s athletes maintained their to position on the penultimate day of the ongoing 3rd Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games 2024 with 77 gold medals in different sports disciplines, as the mega sports event is being organized by the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB)>Punjab secured a total of 163 medals, including 77 gold, 50 silvers, and 36 bronze. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa earned 90 medals, comprising 24 gold, 29 silvers, and 37 bronze. Sindh won 70 medals, including 14 gold, 25 silvers, and 31 bronze, while Balochistan claimed 60 medals, with 14 gold, 15 silver, and 31 bronze. Islamabad achieved 53 medals, consisting of 5 gold, 11 silver, and 37 bronze. Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir secured 22 and 26 medals, respectively.Director General PSB, Yasir Pirzada said that all units collectively won a total of 137 gold, 137 silver, and 210 bronze medals, making a grand total of 484 medals.He appreciated the outstanding performance of the athletes, emphasizing that these results reflect a positive development in the promotion of sports and the enhancement of young athletes’ skills in the country.The DG further added that the government and Pakistan Sports Board are committed to providing more facilities and opportunities for athletes so they can bring glory to Pakistan on international platforms. He also congratulated all units on their commendable performances.

Arshad Nadeem Unveils Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games 2024 Trophy
Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games to commence on Saturday at Pakistan Sports ComplexIslamabad (By Abdul Jabbar Faisal): The 3rd edition of the Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games 2024 will get underway on Saturday (December 14) here at Pakistan Sports Complex under the banner of Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), as the unveiling trophy ceremony took place on Friday in a colourful ceremony.The trophy was unveiled by Pakistan's Olympic gold medalist, Arshad Nadeem, who expressed his enthusiasm and encouragement for the young athletes during the event. The ceremony was also attended by the Director General PSB Yasir Pirzada. The grand opening ceremony of the Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games will take place on Saturday at the PSB. Arshad Nadeem said on this occasion: "This is a major step towards the promotion of sports in Pakistan. It will provide young athletes with an excellent opportunity to showcase their talents, and I am hopeful that this platform will produce international-level players for the country."DG, PSB Yasir Pirzada said: "The purpose of this event is to highlight the existing sports talent in the country and provide them with opportunities to grow. We are optimistic that these competitions will play a pivotal role in bringing new talent to the forefront."The top national male and female athletes of different sports disciplines from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Sindh, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), and Islamabad will fights for the medals in 15 sports including athletics, badminton, boxing, football, hockey, judo, kabaddi, karate, squash, swimming, taekwondo, table tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, and wrestling.

Pakistan Army marksmen win Central Meet Rifle Shooting contests
Abdul Jabbar FaisalISLAMABAD: Pakistan Army have won the overall Championship Trophy contests of the 44th Pakistan Army Rifle Association Central Meet that concluded at the Army Marksmanship Unit in Jhelum on Thursday.According to a press release of ISPR, in the Inter Services matches, Pakistan Army won three contests including Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) matches, while Pakistan Air Force (PAF) won the Chief of Air Staff (CAS) contest.Over 2000 shooters from Army, Navy, Air Force, Civil Armed Forces including Rangers, Federal Rifle Association, Lahore Garrison Shooting Gallery and civilians participated in the competition. FTR team trophy was won by Pakistan Army led by Lieutenant General Ahsan Gulrez.The President's Cup National Challenge match trophy was awarded to Naik Waseem Ahmed Khan of Pakistan Army. Pakistan Air Force won the Prime Minister 'Skills at Arms' Big Bore National Challenge. Azad Kashmir Regiment won the first prize in para firing matches (infantry squad).The highest military shooting honor, 'The Master at Arms' Trophy was awarded to Sepoy Aftab Ahmed of Punjab Regiment. The 'Best Shot Match Trophy' Group 2 and Group 3 was awarded to Lance Dafadar Mohammad Imran of Cavalry and Havaldar Fateh Ullah Khan of EME Battalion.Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir graced the occasion as chief guest of the mega shooting event, while Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu was the guest of honor at the ceremony. Interacting with the participants, General Syed Asim Munir appreciated the players for their excellent standards of marksmanship.

Women’s Sports Carnival: Army Public School claim top position
Sports Bulletin ReportISLAMABAD: A three-day girls’ sports carnival 2024 concluded on Sunday here at Pakistan Sports Complex, as the event was organized by the Federal Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Islamabad, and Federal Directorate of Education Islamabad. Army Public School Hamayon Road Rawalpindi earned the top position with three gold medals, as they won football, basketball, and table tennis events after showing impressive performance.On this occasion, the Ambassador of Austria to Pakistan, Andrea Wieck, visited all the stalls in the carnival and appreciated all efforts. Parliamentary Secretary Farah Naz Akbar, Army Public School System Rawalpindi Brigadier Dr. Mohammad Naveed, Federal Board, and Federal Directorate Directors were present on this occasion.Federal Secretary for Education Mohiuddin Ahmed Wani thanked all the participants from the core of the heart and said that he was very happy to see such a large crowd and a successful festival organized for women.In the end, he disbursed cash prizes, medals, and certificates to the sports teams from all the provinces of Pakistan, and congratulated the winning teams.

ICCB Honors Tanveer Ahmed, Double Gold Medalist in Blind Archery

The event was marked by a gathering of dignitaries, friends, and well-wishers who came together to celebrate Tanveer's exceptional achievements at a local hotel here. The event was graced by the Chairman, Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) and the Secretary General of the Pakistan Archery Federation (PAF), who were special guests on this occasion. Both dignitaries expressed their admiration for Tanveer Ahmed's dedication and skill, and announced their continued support for his future endeavors. Zulfiqar Ali Butt, Secretary General PAF further pledged to approach the Pakistan Sports Board to formally recognize and honor Tanveer's remarkable contributions to the sport.In a significant announcement, Sultan Shah revealed plans to present Tanveer Ahmed with a special award during a ceremony on the eve of the World Cup Cricket for the Blind 2024, which will take place in November later this year.During the ceremony, Tanveer Ahmed emphasized the urgent need for improved facilities and incentives to enhance the sport of archery in Pakistan. He called on the Pakistan Archery Federation to take more proactive measures to promote blind archery across the nation. The event also featured a heartfelt speech by Tanveer’s coach, Mohammad Ijaz, who summarized Tanveer's outstanding achievements and praised his unwavering commitment to the sport.The reception concluded with a luncheon, where General Secretary of the Islamabad Cricket Club of the Blind, Naveed Hussain Abbasi, presented Tanveer Ahmed with a souvenir shield in recognition of his accomplishments. Abbasi also announced a cash award of Rs. 50,000 for the celebrated archer, further acknowledging his extraordinary success on the international stage.

Pakistan's Blind Female Goalball Team to Visit Kenya on June 13

The team, which has shown exceptional dedication and talent, is preparing intensively for the series. We are incredibly proud of our blind female goalball team for achieving this milestone. Naila nominated National Goodwill Ambassador for Girls' Education
Sports Bulletin ReportISLAMABAD: Naila Kiani Pakistan’s leading female high-altitude mountaineer, has achieved yet another milestone by being declared the “National Goodwill Ambassador for Girls’ Education” by the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training . In her new role, she aims to highlight the importance of girls' education across Pakistan and support initiatives by federal and provincial governments.Naila Kiani achievements in Mountaineering: She is the first Pakistani woman and the overall third Pakistani to have climbed 11 of the 14 highest peaks above 8,000 meters. She holds the distinction of being the first Pakistani woman to climb an 8,000-meter mountain within Pakistan. Kiani is also the first Pakistani woman to summit Nanga Parbat, Gasherbrum I (G-I), Gasherbrum II (G-II), Lhotse, Manaslu, Broad Peak, Annapurna, Makalu, and Cho Oyu. She is among the ten mountaineers worldwide, and the only Pakistani, to have climbed multiple (seven) peaks above 8,000 meters in less than six months, in 2023.Furthermore, she is the fastest Pakistani, regardless of gender, to have climbed all eleven 8,000-meter peaks in less than three years. She is the only female athlete to receive Sitara-i-Imtiaz, the highest civilian honour given to any female athlete in Pakistan.Advocate for Girls' Education: Naila Kiani’s appointment as the National Goodwill Ambassador for Girls' Education is a testament to her commitment to empowering women through education. Inter-Provincial Women’s Softball Championship to start on May 30
Sports Bulletin ReportKARACHI: The first Inter-Provincial Women's Softball Championship will be played at the Football Stadium KPT Sports Complex, Karachi, from 30th May to 1st June 2024. Teams from Punjab, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and host Sindh will participate in the championship.  Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) is the title sponsor of the championship, and Combaxx Sports are co-sponsors in collaboration with Palmolive, Dr. Essa Lab, KPT, and others are included. Sindh Softball Association has been given the hosting of the championship.
