Abdul Jabbar FaisalISLAMABAD: Pakistan's number one female climber Naila Kayani asked the government to set up a system to rescue mountaineers quickly, who fall in trouble during their attempts on different high peaks owing to bad weather.While addressing a press conference here at National Press club (NPC) on Tuesday, Naila, who climbed eight of the 14 peaks above 8,000 meters in the world in the shortest time, thanked Prime Minister Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif for announcing the star distinction. “There is an urgent need to form a rescue team and train them to bring them back safely mountaineers, “she added.“There is also an intention to climb the remaining six high peaks, there is a lot of talent in Pakistan, but they do not have any kind of support at the government level. But it is not possible, if mountaineers are supported at the government level, then Pakistani mountaineers can make a name in the world, “she further said.To a question Naila Kayani, said: “People are generally not fully aware of hill climbing, there are 14 over 8 thousand meters in the world including five are in Pakistan, seven in Nepal, and two in China, which is considered a very important achievement, Allah Almighty has given me the ability to climb eight peaks in the shortest time. Being a first mountaineer, it is very difficult to establish yourself as a woman, but I have proved that women can also achieve significant achievements alongside men, “she maintained.She said, “I belong to Rawalpindi while people consider me to be from Gilgit-Baltistan. I want to give a message to the youth that if I can achieve these achievements despite not belonging to the mountains, others can also achieve these milestones. I did not receive any financial support at the government level, “she lamented.To another question, Naila said: “There is an urgent need to form a rescue team and train them for rescue. In this regard, they should also be provided with a helicopter so that the surveyors can be rescued safely. I am grateful to the private sector who have sponsored me, as the financial support for climbers is very important, “she concluded.

Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD (November 27, 2022): Private School Association Islamabad (PSAI) and Islamabad Alpine Association (IAA) jointly organized an online workshop on “Learning from Mountain Sports” in connection with the International Mountain Day. Workshop was attended by sports teachers, academicians, students, athletes and other stakeholders that was held here on Sunday and the purpose was to create awareness among the key stakeholders about mountains. While highlighting the importance of mountains in our lives, President, Alpine Club of Pakistan (ACP), Abu Zafar Sadiq said: “Learning life skills and leadership skills are some of the outcomes, which are usually ignored in our society. Mountain ranges, peaks, glaciers, passes and other sports tourism are the potential of the country.” The activities undertaken by ACP drew an interface with a number of outcomes which are generally not perceived by the society. He stressed the need to engage youth in healthy mountain sports activities so that they could be kept away from gadgets, drugs, intolerance, extremism, and other negative elements adversely affecting the fiber of our society. The challenges and opportunities for mountain sports were also taken into account. Dr. Prof. Waheed Mughal, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Sarhad University stressed the need to expand the vision and scope of activities for masses. He said that recreational sporting activities and mountain adventure provide plenty of opportunities for our youth to explore the beauty of Pakistan. He assured that Sarhad University would love to join hands with Alpine Club of Pakistan to support such initiatives. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Sallahuddin, head of Sports Department of MY University also shared his views. He held that mountain sports and recreational activities can have an everlasting impact on youth, if they are engaged in such activities regularly. He offered his services and support from his University to promote outdoor pursuits in mountain regions of Pakistan. Prof. Dr. Noor Mohammad Marwat, Department of Sports Sciences and Physical Education, Gomal University, D.I.Khan while stressing the importance of mountain sports tourism for the students of Sports Sciences and Physical Education appreciated the activities undertaken by Alpine Club of Pakistan and emphasized to organize it at larger scale. The participants raised many questions which were answered by the panelists.

Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE:-World’s youngest champion mountaineer Shehroze Kashif called on Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Asadullah Faiz at Punjab Stadium on Friday. Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Asadullah Faiz expressed his best wishes for Shehroze's next expedition. Shehroze Kashif, who is also Sports Board Punjab’s Goodwill Ambassador, will leave to scale top peaks Nanga Parbat, Gasherbrum-1 and Gasherbrum-2 in a few days time. Shehroze, who has so far climbed 7 out of the 14 highest peaks in the world, is the youngest climber in the world to climb world’s top peaks like Mount Everest and K2. Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Asadullah Faiz said mountaineering requires a lot of courage, hard work and enthusiasm. “Raising the flag of Pakistan on the highest peaks of the world is commendable and fearless and brave young man Shehroze has done this feat several times at such a young age”. Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Asadullah Faiz further said the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs will extend all possible cooperation to Shehroze in his future expeditions. “Private sector has also been invited to develop player welfare programmes in future”. Shehroze Kashif on this occasion expressed his determination to conquer all the great peaks of the world. He also thanked Sports and Youth Affairs Department Punjab for the valuable cooperation it extended for his future expeditions.

Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD:-The athletes from Alpine Club if Pakistan (ACP) along with students from National University of Science & Technology (NUST) attended a 2-day Workshop on sport climbing held at NUST Sports Complex. Islamabad. According to an official of ACP, the introductory lectures were delivered and safe use of climbing gear was taught through demonstration. The videos and documentaries were also screened. The practical sessions were held at NUST climbing arena. The purpose was to attract the youth towards this challenging sport and equip them with basic sport climbing skills and knowledge. The participants took great interest in the learning. At the end of the workshop the participants were awarded certificated. Air Vice Marshal (R) Dr.  Rizwan Riaz,  Pro Rector RIC,Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Baig, Director Field Administration  Air Comodor (R)  Shahid Nadeem, Ali Hasnain Syed, Director Student Affairs,  Col (R)  Qaiser Mustafa, Fy. Fire Tor ( Sports) Brig R Ikram, AFPm,  Aftabur Rehman Rana, MD, PTDC, Abu Zafr Sadiq, President Alpine Club of Pakistan and Saad Tariq Siddique VP, Adventure Foundation Pakistan were also present at this occasion.

Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD:-Bilquis and Abdul Razak Dawood (BARD) Foundation decided to sponsor female mountaineer, Naila Kiani for her upcoming mountain climbing expedition, who will be attempting to reach on the top of second highest peak in the world K-2 in June 2022. According to an official of BARD, Naila will be the first female Pakistani mountain climber to summit the world’s 2nd highest peak. Naila Kiani has successfully climbed Gasherbrum II (8,035 meters), which is the world’s 13th highest mountain. BARD Foundation carries a deep vision to promote and facilitate local athletes and sportspersons in order to highlight their talent and true potential across the world. BARD Foundation is a human-development initiative, founded by the renowned industrialist & technocrat - Abdul Razak Dawood and his philanthropist wife - Bilquis Dawood. Naila Kiani is a Dubai-based Pakistani banker and an amateur boxer, whose love for the mountainous regions inspired her to carry out her wedding ceremony right at the K2 base camp in 2018. She boldly summited an 8,000+m peak, the Gasherbrum II, right after giving birth to her child. She is a true symbol of empowered, strong, and resilient female athletes in the country, and was presented with an award in December 2021 by the President of Pakistan, to acknowledge her great achievements and contributions towards mountaineering.
