Ahmed Baig maintains lead on second day of prestigious national golf fixtureSports Bulletin ReportKARACHI: A golfer from Lahore, Ahmed Baig maintained his lead with a gross of 137 under par 7 on the second day of the 13th Rashid D. Habib Memorial National Professional Golf Tournament 2024 here at Karachi Golf Club (KGC) on Friday. Local players Zubair Hussain from Pakistan Air Force (PAF) won the car after scoring Hole-In-One on the second day of national golf fixture.He made this mark on the Red Course's 7th Hole, a Par 3 at KGC with a distance of 210 Yards, his skillful shot not only earned him acclaim but also rewarded him with a brand-new Toyota Corolla car. Baig was leading on the second day with a gross of 137- 7 under par. KGC’s Mohammad Zubair and Mohammad Munir from Rawalpindi were behind with their joint score of 139- 5 under par. Defending Champion Waheed Baloch, Dilshad Ali, Mohammad Alam and Akbar Mahroz have carded gross 142- 2 under par on second day.

Habib Memorial National Professional Golf Tournament 2024, which teed off here at the Karachi Golf Club (KGC) on Thursday.Out of 95 leading golfers participating on day one, Ahmed Baig was leading with 66 at 6 under par after completing an 18-hole game. Akbar Mahroz was behind with 68. Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Munir were sharing a score of 69. Defending champion Waheed Baloch was on 5th position on the first day after firing 70- 2 under par.The Toyota Corolla and a Suzuki Alto for hole-in-one remained unclaimed on day one. The final round will be played on Sunday 21st January.

Habib Memorial National Professional Golf Tournament 2024 will tee off on Thursday (January 18) at the Karachi Golf Club (KGC), as the final round will be played on Sunday.According to an official, over 100 top golfers will compete in the Professionals’ category for the most coveted four-day National Competition of the Annual Golf Season. Last year, Waheed Baloch of KGC, successfully defended his title by carding 277, 11 under par, to win the tournament. Mohammad Shahzad was the runner-up by carding 278, 10 under par. Pakistan's Number One Muhammad Shabbir Iqbal of Islamabad was placed as the second runner-up.Prior to this event, a two-day match for local KGC Professionals, Senior Professionals, and KGC Caddies, the 23rd edition of Rashid D. Habib Memorial Golf Tournament, is being played on 16th, and 17th January, 2024, to support and develop professional golf at KGC.The total Prize Money of PKR 12 million includes PKR 9.4 M for Best Performers in the National Professional Category, PKR 1.95 M for KGC Professionals, Caddies, and Senior Pros, as well as Appearance Money of PKR 650,000. The Appearance Money is distributed amongst the top five Professionals and top three Senior Professionals, as per PGF's current ranking. The lucky players achieving the first hole-in-one will also be rewarded with a Toyota Corolla and a Suzuki Alto in National and Local KGC categories respectively. His (Rizwan) score was 154 after completing 36 36-hole games, as Mohammad Aslam Khan was still crawling behind him with a 158 gross score at the end of day 2.Also, Ami Qin exhibited an excellent game of golf and was on top of the score sheet with a score of 162 in the Ladies’ competitions. Zaibun Nisa (166) reached on second spot, as she was third on the opening day. Ana James Gill was on third position with a score of 167.

Sports Bulletin ReportLAHORE: The Ace Junior Golf League (AJGL) Monthly Medal Regional Match concluded here at the Gymkhana Golf Course with an astounding success, as this will be followed respectively in Karachi, Islamabad, Peshawar, Sona Golf Club, Rahim Yar Khan, and the last one in Rumanza, Multan.Ace junior golf is an extension of Girls Golf Matches, which was the brainchild of its founding member Dr. Asma Afzal Shami, former chairperson ladies golf PGF and Patron and Chairperson BOD AJGL. She has designed the AJGL to be a golf league for both girls and boys, between the ages of 6-21 years that can eventually become a much-needed nursery at the grassroots level for discovering, nurturing and producing our future golf champions, at the national level. Munazza Shaheen Rules Official and President AJGL has setup the format of AJGL including complete web portal equipped with ranking, profiles, events coverage and players’ registration. Also social media usage will ensure the much presence of Pakistan in international golfing community. She helped with the necessary framework, adopted from accomplished golfing countries like USA, UK, Thailand, Malaysia and others, to have two basic principles. First principle; the golfers are divided into age categories, not skill level or handicap, the players know that they have to achieve a certain proficiency level as per their age and start in early years in order to compete in the world. Second Principle, they have to compete on gross and play strategically like green in regulation, two putts strategy, up and down to save pars and learn to keep their scores low rather than winning on net. The youngest junior golfers of age 6 to 10 in Birdie Category performed exceptionally well playing 9 holes. In the girls section, top 4 positions were attained by Noor Bano Chaudry gross 58, Syeda Noor Zara Shah (62), Sara Qasim (77) and Zayneb Akram (78). In boys, Shahzain Iftikhar (49), Issa Khan (59), Nael Haider (65) and Wali Akram (80) came first, second, third and fourth respectively. The eagle category of ages 10 to 14, in girls section, the top 4 positions were clinched by Nataliya Ch (96), Aleesa Almas Rashid (99), Nataliya Nadeem Khan (102) and Zoay Qureshi (103). In the boys section, Mikail Usman (77), Rehan Asif (82), Sher Ali Khan (82), Ibrahim Wajid (84) topped the charts. In the albatross category of ages 14 to 18, in girls’ section, the top 4 positions were taken by Laiba Ali Shah (93), Bushra Fatima (94), Aliha Amjad (102) and Ayezah Amin (133). In the boys section, Ahmed Ibrahim (73), Wajahat Anwer (91), Rohail Ibrahim (92), Hussain Ali Shah (96) were on the top 4 table positions. In the elite category of ages 18-21, in the boys section, the top four positions were taken by Mohammad Saim Tahir (73), Sam Latif (74), Adam Khan (78) and Mohammad Abdullah (85). The event concluded with a very impressive prizes distribution ceremony, which was conducted and by the enthusiastic juniors and organised in a professional manner by Ms Bela Azam, Lady Captain LGGC.
