COAS Open Golf Championship: Hamid Hussain lifts the title
Abdul Jabbar Faisal RAWALPINDI:-Hamid Hussain of Royal Palm Golf Club (RPGC) has won the title of the 29th Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Open Golf Championship 2022 Amateur Category that concluded on Sunday here at Rawalpindi Golf Club. In the professional category, Mohammad Shabbir of Islamabad Golf Club got first position after three-day top national golf showpiece. As many as 509 golfers from golf clubs from all over the country participated in the championship in the different categories competitions. LtGen(R) Mian Mohammad HilalHussain, Hl (M), President Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF) graced the closing ceremony as chief guest and distributed the prizes among the players. The tournament was sponsored by 'Engro Corporation (Pvt) Limited', the main sponsor of COAS Open GolfChampionship-2022 alongwith, Serena Hotels and Askari Banks Hospitality Partner. Rs. 11 million were distributed among the 50 top professionals, 22 top senior professionals and 12 top junior professionals. Federal Amateur Golf Championship 2022 commences from Friday
Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD:-The 3-day Federal Amateur Golf Championship 2022 will tee off on Friday here at Islamabad Golf Club, Honorary Secretary, Federal Golf Association (FGA) I N Khokhar told to reporters in a press conference on Thursday, as a very low number of sports journalists of twin city Rawalpindi and Islamabad attended this important press briefing due to lack of communication and ignorance of FGA. He further informed the media-person that the champion would be decided after the 54 holes game, as the players would enjoy the game over 18 holes each day. “The competitions will be held in 4 categories including Amateur, Seniors, Juniors and Ladies. An exhibition match will also be played among diplomats of different countries, “he maintained. “Top three amateurs will be awarded prizes on the gross score while top two ladies will receive prizes both on net and gross score. However, Top three seniors will be honored on both net and gross score while top two juniors will also get awards on net and gross score. Golfers took part in the practice session on Thursday, “I N Khokhar concluded.

PGF International Ladies Golf Championship: Rimsha earns top honour
Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD:-Rimsha Ijaz has won the title of the 5th PGF International Ladies Amateur Golf Championship 2022 after showing impressive performance on the last day of tournament that concluded at Islamabad Golf Club on Sunday. After completing 54 holes game, Rimsha was on top with 225 score. Thailand’s Mana Ssanan claimed second place, as she was just a single score behind from the champion. She earned 226 points. Hamna Amjad from Karachi Golf Club remained at third position with the total score of 239. Parkha Ijaz of Defence Raya (244) and Nada Rizwan Mir of Qatar (254) were on 4th and 5th spot respectively. Dr Asma Shami, Chairperson Ladies Golf, said: “Ladies Golf in Pakistan is in its infancy stage and in a short period of four years, seven ladies championships on PGF Calendar.” She emphasised that the need of the hour is sustainability. The quantity that we have collected has to translate into quality we need to bring in professionalism. The first step towards quality that for the first time we have a lady chief referee to Conduct the Championship. It is a great turning point in the Ladies Golf in Pakistan. Dr Sania, speaking at the occasion to the august gathering, said that it was a moment of joy to see so many young girls taking up competitive sports and to see so many ladies playing championship. she extended her full support in promotion of ladies in sports. Dr Sania spoke about the Ehsas program and how it is positively impacting ladies lives in Pakistan. Later she mingled with the invitees of the prize distribution ceremony. All lady golfers bid adieu to their fellow golfers from out of Islamabad and those who came from Thailand and Qatar – till another event, another game. She complimented the tournament director of Zeenat Ayesha and the championship committee for a commendable job. In the end she thanked the players from Thailand their manager for their participation. Miss Uzma Mir from Qattar praised the Pakistani Lady Golfers and for hosting them and giving them tough competition she added Ladies Golf what does the dynamic leadership of Dr Asma Shami chairperson Ladies Golf has got leaps and bounds. PGF International Ladies Golf Championship starts at Islamabad Club
Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD:-The 5th PGF International Ladies’ Golf Championship started on Friday here at Islamabad Golf Club, as the Rimsha Ijaz and Thitikrn Thapasit earned the lead at the end of Day-1 game. Both were at two over par 74 after 18 holes. Thitikrn from Thailand scored three birdies on Hole No 8-10 and 12. Rimsha was cool and played his game consistently to reach on top. She also hit birdies thrice time during her 18 holes game.

Parkha Ijaz wins Ghazala Ansari Challenge Cup Golf Tournament
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE:-Parkha Ijaz has won the 1st Ghazala Ansari Challenge Cup Ladies Amateur Golf Championship that concluded with a most graceful prize distribution ceremony here at Durbar Hall of the Governor House. Parkha, handicap 1, with a gross score of 227 over 54 holes, emerged as the winner of the Gross in Category A (handicaps 0-12). Her sister, Rimsha Ijaz, who was also handicap 1, was the runner-up with a gross score of 231, while Iman Ali Shah got 3rd position with a score of 244. In Category B (handicaps 13-24), Tehmina Ahmed won 1st gross, while Dr Rhubab Haider got 2nd and Tehmina Rashid 3rd gross. In the Net, Sherbano Hamdani won the 1st prize, while 2nd Net was awarded to Shabana Waheed and 3rd to Hareem Tahir. In Category C (handicaps 25-36), the 1st gross was won by Fauzia Shahid, 2nd by Nighat Akram and 3rd by Monazza Azhar. With the Net-Score, Mina Zainab won 1st net, Tasleem Hussain 2nd and Shaheen Warraich 3rd. In the Seniors Match, 1st gross was won by Ayesha Hamid while 1st net by Farida Tausif. “Their performance has certainly brought a breath of fresh air into our sporting environment and proved that Pakistani women are second to none.” The high points of the ceremony were video clips about Ghazala Ansari’s achievements and a personal message from Begum Samina Alvi, The First Lady, who expressed great admiration for the fact that this had been a totally ‘women’s show,’ right from its conception to its organisation, planning and execution. She lauded that even the Chief Referee and the sole financial sponsor were women. Two other video messages were also played containing personal messages from Gen Hilal, President PGF and Yasmin Mubarik, who had been her closest competitor. There could be no greater tribute to the golfing achievements of the legendary Ghazala Ansari. Credit for this must be given unequivocally to Dr Shami and her dedicated partners, Maimoona Azam, Bela Azam, Munazza Shaheen, Iffat Zahra, Aisha Moazzam, Shabana Waheed and Shahnaz Moeen who put their heart and soul into “making this event one of a kind."

Kashmir Solidarity Day Golf Tournament concludes
Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD:-The 2-day Kashmir Solidarity Day Golf Tournament concluded at the Bahria Golf Club Islamabad on Sunday. As many as 120 men, women and junior golfers participated in this event. Commenting on this Tournament, Dr Asma Afzal Shami, Chairperson Ladies Golf PGF, congratulated Sherbano for her excellent conducting of the tournament. She further stated: “I would also like to appreciate the fact that, by appointing Munazza Shaheen as the chief referee, she has created history as this is the first occasion on which a lady has acted as the chief referee of a golf match in which men have also participated. Farred Buttar and Hamza won 1st gross in the Father-Son category, while Mohammad Musa and Usama won 1st net. Among Amateur Couples, General and Begum Salman won 1st gross while Admiral and Begum Salim Akhtar won 1st net. In the Golfer-Nongolfer Couples Category, Rabia and Col Zaka won 1st gross while Qudsia and Col Altaf won 1st net. In the Junior Category, Shahan and Zaina Zeeshan won the 1st gross while Ali Musa and Amna Malik won 1st net.

Defending Champion Shabbir Iqbal retains the title of Pakistan Open Golf Championship
Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD:-Defending champion Shabbir Iqbal from capital city Islamabad has won the 48th Pakistan Open Golf Championship 2022 with the score of 14 under par after playing over 72 holes that concluded at Karachi Golf Club (KGC) on Sunday. According to available information, top national golfer Shabbir Iqbal finished the 4th day with 14 under par to claim victory. He received Rs. 1119000 along with a beautiful trophy. Ahmed Baig from Pakistan Air Force (PAF) grabbed second position with 10 under par score and pocketed Rs. 710250 as award money. Matloob Ahmed of LGG got the third position with five under par. Waheed Baloch of Karachi Golf Club who maintained lead during first two days managed to reaching a gross of four under on final day ranking to 4th position. In the senior professionals’ category, Nisar Hussain topped with three over par while Mohammad Akram of Gym with six over par was spotted on second place. Mohammad Saqib of LGG was ahead with two over par while Nabeel Khan of of Airmen Golf Club was following Saqib with ten over par in the Junior Professionals’ category. Lt Gen (R) Mian Hilal Hussain, Federal Secretary Ministry of Defense Pakistan and President Pakistan Golf Federation distributed the prizes amongst the top players. Speaking at the occasion, General Hilal said: New talent in Golf is emerging in our country. Golf is getting equally popular amongst women and children. Out of 52 golf courses in Pakistan 14 are of international standards. Annually 140million rupees are being distributed in year-long Golf events across Pakistan. Chief Guest of the occasion, Governor Sindh Imran Ismail said “We need to support emerging golfers. Golf should be made assessable to play for everyone.” Chief Executive Officer of United Marine Agencies – Sohail Shams sponsored the Championship. Sohail congratulated the winners and KGC in organizing country’s major golf championship. Tournament Director Col Zahid Iqbal said: “We are thankful to AlMighty Allah for providing such a beautiful golf course in city. Pakistan Open Golf Championship: Title holder Shabbir Iqbal claims vital lead on third day
Sports Bulletin KARACHI:-Pakistan’s ace golfer Shabbir Iqbal from Islamabad came from behind and claimed an important lead with 13 under par on the third day of UMA 48th Pakistan Open Golf Championship 2022 here at Karachi Golf Club (KGC) on Saturday. Ahmed Baig from Pakistan Air Force did seven under par for reaching second position. Matloob Ahmed of LGG was on third position with six under par after completing 54 holes. Waheed Baloch of Karachi Golf Club, who maintained lead during first two days, played three under thus reaching a gross of four under on third day. In the senior professionals category Irfan Mehmood of Rawalpindi was holding first position with two over par. He is being followed by Naseer Khan of Peshawar and Mohammad Akram of Lahore with their gross score of three over par were jointly holding second lead. After today’s cut, 15 players will play the final rounds on Sunday in the senior professional category. In the Junior professionals category, Mohammad Saqib of LGG was leading with three over par. Nabeel Khan of Airmen Golf Club was following Saqib with six over par. After today’s cut in junior professional category, 10 golfers with compete in the final round. Amateur Omar Khalid of KGC while competing amongst Professionals was holding 29th position with five over par on Saturday. Next Amateur was Salman Jehangir from Lahore Gymkhana with ten over par. Pakistan Open Golf Championship: Waheed Baloch maintains leads on Second day
Sports Bulletin KARACHI:-Waheed Baloch of Karachi Golf Club maintained his lead with seven under par on the completion of second day of the ongoing Pakistan Open Golf Championship 2022. Defending Champion Shabbir Iqbal of ICGC was following him with gross of five under par. Ahmed Baig of PAF with Ansar Mehmood of MGG were behind him with joint score of four under par. Total 58 golfers have qualified to play in Round 3. Junior Professionals played the first round on Friday. Total 16 participated in this category. Mohammad Sahil of PGC was holding first with 73 one over par. He was being followed by Mohammad Saqib of LGG who managed 76 five over par. Tournament Director Col Zahid Iqbal said, “Leading Golfers from all over Pakistan are struggling hard at the lavish greens of Karachi Golf Club. Players are enjoying playing in the pleasant weather and clear visibility.” Waheed Baloch is in full form and came up as major hurdle for Defending Champion Shabbir Iqbal. Pakistan Open Golf Championship: Waheed Baloch earns vital lead on Day-1
Sports Bulletin KARACHI:-The local golfer from Karachi Golf Club (KGC) earned a vital lead in the Pakistan Open Golf Championship 2022 that teed off on Thursday here. In the combined category of Professionals and Amateurs, Waheed Baloch of Karachi Golf Club is leading with five under par on the completion of first day. Defending Champion Shabbir Iqbal and Sajjad Khan of ICGC along with Ansar Mehmood of MGC were behind him with joint score of four under par. Total 109 professionals and amateurs participated on day one. The brilliant aspect of UMA 48th Pakistan Open Golf is that PGF has selected top ranked Amateurs to play and compete with top ranked Professionals from the same tee thus providing chance to top amateurs to compete with Professionals. According to PGF selection criteria, out of five mandatory championships, PGF considers only National Amateur held in 2021 in Peshawar. Based on this criteria, PGF has taken top ten National World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) players. Top ten in the list of 61st National Amateur Golf Championship in Male Amateur category and top ten ranked players in PGF National Amateur Rankings. Hence, common Top 15 selected for participation. Tournament Director Col Zahid Iqbal said, “PGF aims to train Amateurs for competing in the international tournaments. This decision will improve the quality of game in amateur category as in the past some amateurs have also won Pakistan Open.” Waheed Baloch of Karachi Golf Club recently claimed title of 11th Rashid D Habib Golf Tournament and has benefits of home ground, came up as challenge Shabbir would face. The Championship will be played stroke play under three categories Professionals/ Amateurs (72 Holes), Senior Professionals (54 Holes) & Junior Professionals (54 Holes).
