Murad Ali and Mahoor defend National Badminton Championship titles

Peshawar (Sports News): Murad Ali of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Mahoor Shahzad of Pakistan WAPDA successfully retained their Singles titles at the 62nd National Badminton Championships 2026, held at Peshawar.

In the Men’s Doubles final, Raja Mohammad Hasnain and Raja Zulqarnain Haider of Pakistan Army also retained their title with a convincing performance.

Ali Haider Babakhail, CEO of Buraq Builders, graced the final ceremony as the Chief Guest. Wajid Ali Chaudhry, President Pakistan Badminton Federation; Bilal Khan, President KP Badminton Association; and Ms. Saeeda Iftikhar, President Sindh Badminton Association, were also present on this occasion. Secretary General PBF Raja Azhar Mahmood and Senior Vice President PBF Tayyab Sohail attended the ceremony as well.

Trophies, certificates, and cash prizes were distributed among the finalists.

Men’s Singles:

Murad Ali (KP) beat Muqeet Tahir (Army) 21-11, 21-17

Women’s Singles:

Mahoor Shahzad (WAPDA) beat Ghazala Siddique (WAPDA) 21-10, 17-21, 21-9

Men’s Doubles:

Raja Mohammad Hasnain & Raja Zulqarnain Haider (Army) defeated

Mohammad Ali Larosh & Mohammad Adnan (WAPDA) 21-15, 21-16

On the occasion, the President PBF announced that the South Asia Regional Junior Badminton Championships will be held in Islamabad from 1–7 April 2026. Pakistan junior players will participate in U-16, U-19, and U-23 categories. He further announced that Pakistan badminton players will also participate in the Asian Games this year.
