Islamabad Club Champions Trophy 2022: Asean & Kalabagh/Shahtaj reach in final
Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD:-Teams Asean and Kalabagh/Shahtaj have qualified for the main final of the Islamabad Club Champions Trophy 2022 after winning their respective matches played here at the Islamabad Club Polo Ground on Thursday. The first match of the day proved a thrilling encounter where Team Asean defeated BN Polo by a narrow margin of 5-4. Both the teams played really against each other and continued to fight till the end and when the final whistle was blown, the score was tied at 4-4. The match was then decided in the sudden death chukker, foreign player Bauti Fenell smashed in a match-winning goal to steer Team Asean to a close 5-4 triumph.  Bauti Fenell emerged as hero of the match for Team Asean as he did magic with mallet and polo pony and amused the spectators with his spectacular game and skills. He contributed with three tremendous goals while his teammate Raja Jalal Arslan also played well and banged in a beautiful brace.  Team BN Polo also fought well for each and every goal and matched fire-with-fire till the end but they couldn’t finish the match well in the sudden death chukker, thus lost the thriller by a slight margin of 4-5. Eulogio was the key player from the losing side, who hammered a hat-trick of goals while the remaining one came from Babar Naseem.  Team work and collective efforts helped Kalabagh/Shahtaj record an impressive 8-6 triumph over EFU-PAF in the second match of the day. Team Kalabagh/Shahtaj dominated the match right from the word go and maintained their lead till the end. They though dominated the first three chukker while EFU-PAF made a strong comeback in the fourth and last chukker by hammering a hat-trick, but it was too little too late situation for them as they lost the encounter by 6-8.  Foreign player Guy Gibrat, Osman Khan and Raja Temur Nadeem jointly emerged as stars of the day from the winning team as they all pumped in a brace each while Adil Waheed and Asfandyar Khan converted one goal apiece. Hamza Mawaz Khan played well from the losing side by thrashing in three goals while Syed Aun Muhammad Rizvi banged in a brace and Sqn Ldr Hamza Iqbal scored one goal.  Now the main final will be contested between Team Asean and Kalabagh/Shahtaj on Sunday while the subsidiary final will take place on Saturday between BN Polo Team and EFU-PAF here at the Islamabad Club Polo Ground.

Islamabad Club Champions Trophy: EFU-PAF, Asean register comprehensive triumphs
Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD:-The Team EFU-PAF and Team Asean have won their matches in the Islamabad Club Polo Champions Trophy 2022 after thrashing The Guards and Team Kalabagh respectively at the Islamabad Club Polo Ground Islamabad on Wednesday. In the first match of the day, EFU-PAF defeated The Guards by 8-6.5. Hamza Mawaz Khan was in sublime form and played with the great technique and skills that helped him to show as hero of the match for EFU-PAF. He smashed in sparkling six goals while his teammates Syed Aun Mohammad Rizvi and Waqas contributed with one goal apiece. Team The Guards also matched fire-with-fire but they couldn't finish well, thus lost the encounter with a close margin of 6.5-8. Mumtaz Abbas Niazi was top scorer from the losing side with a contribution of three goals while Gulfam and Hashir struck one goal each for The Guards, which had one and a half goal handicap advantage. The second match of the day proved a one-sided affair, where Team Asean dominated and overpowered Team Kalabagh by a huge margin of 12-3.5. Raja Jalal Arslan emerged as star of the match as he amused the spectators with outstanding mallet and pony work and also fired in five fantastic goals. Haider Asad also excelled with mallet and horse and hammered a hat-trick while a foreign player and Hashim Asad slammed in one goal apiece. The enthralling and exciting matches were witnessed and enjoyed by a good number of polo enthusiasts as well as Islamabad Club officials, players and their families. On Thursday, two more matches will be played as the first encounter of the day will be contested between Asean Polo and BN Polo at 3:15 pm while the second encounter of the day will be played between Kalabagh/Shahtaj and EFU-PAF at 3:45 pm.

Islamabad Club Champions Trophy 2022: BN Polo, Kalabagh/Shahtaj post victories
Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD:-BN Polo Team and Kalabagh/Shahtaj posted victories in the Islamabad Club Champions Trophy 2022 after beating their respective opponents here at Islamabad Club Polo Club Ground on Tuesday.  In the first match of the day, BN Polo Team outsmarted Kalabagh Polo Team by a huge margin of 10-3½. Hamza Mawaz Khan, Ahmed Ali Tiwana and Baber Naseem emerged as heroes of the day from the winning team as they contributed with a sparkling hat-trick each while Haider Naseem converted one goal. Kalabagh Polo Team couldn’t resist the BN Polo Team attack and kept on conceding goals one after another, thus lost the opening match by 3½-10. Salaar Malik and Abdullah scored one goal apiece for the losing side, which also had one and a half goal handicap advantage. The second match of the day was identical to the first one as the winning side, Kalabagh/Shahtaj outpaced The Guards by same margin of 10-3½. Argentine’s Guy Gibrat played the hero’s role from Team Kalabagh/Shahtaj as he was in sublime form and played outstanding polo with mallet and pony. He was top scorer with fabulous five goals while Asfandyar Khan fired in four fantastic goals and Sheikh Adil Waheed struck one goal.  The losing side, The Guards, couldn’t compete well against the Kalabagh/Shahtaj and lost the match by 3½-10. Mumtaz Abbas Niazi and Saqib Raheem scored one goal apiece from The Guards, which also had one and a half goal handicap advantage.  On Wednesday, the first match of the day will be contested between The Guards and EFU/PAF at 3:15 pm while the second match of the day, Kalabagh Polo Team will vie against Team Asean at 3:45 pm here at the Islamabad Club Polo Ground.

Asean win Twin City Challenge Polo Cup subsidiary final
Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD:-Team Asean have won the subsidiary final of the Twin City Challenge Polo Cup 2022 after outpacing Shahtaj by a close margin of 8½-6 here at Islamabad Club polo ground on Saturday. For Team Asean, which had a half goal handicap advantage, Raja Jalal Arslan and Hashim Asad were in great form and amused the spectators with their marvellous mallet and pony work. They contributed three goals each for the winning team while Haider Asad converted the remaining two goals.  From team Shahtaj, Syed Aun Mohammad Rizvi and Matias Vial Perez also displayed high-quality polo skills and techniques and contributed with two goals each while Sheikh Adil Waheed and Usman Abrar slammed in one goal apiece but their efforts couldn’t bear fruit and they lost the crucial match by 6-8½.  The match rolled into action with Asean having a half goal handicap advantage and they added one more goal in their tally to make it 1½-0. Shahtaj bounced back in great style by banging in a beautiful brace to earn a slight 2-1½ lead. Asean showed their class in the second chukker and hammered a hat-trick of goals against two by Shahtaj, thus taking a slight lead of 4½-4 lead. Asean dominated the match in the third chukker, where they thrashed in three back-to-back goals while Shahtaj could convert only one goal. By the end of the third chukker chukker, Asean were enjoying a lead of 7½-5. Both sides could add just one goal in the fourth and last chukker, with Asean winning the crucial encounter by 8½-6.

Twin City Challenge Polo Cup: BN Polo reach in final
Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD:-Team BN Polo qualified for the final of the Twin City Challenge Polo Cup 2022 after outpacing Asean by 10-6½ in the second semifinal played here at Islamabad Club polo ground on Friday. For BN Polo Team, Baber Naseem displayed high-quality polo skills and contributed with sparkling six goals while his teammates Ahmed Ali Tiwana hammered a hat-trick of goals and Haider Naseem converted one goal. For Team Asean, Raja Jalal Arslan cracked a quartet while Hashim Asad and Ali Arshad scored one goal each. The losing side made it into the subsidiary final, where they will take on Shahtaj on Sunday. BN Polo Team dominated the match right from the word go as they fired in fabulous five goals to gain a healthy 5-0 lead in the first chukker. The second chukker saw both the sides scoring two goals each with BN Polo still enjoying a 7-2 lead. Asean played better polo in the third chukker as they slammed in two goals against one by BN Polo, who still had 8-4 lead. The fourth and last chukker was evenly poised as both the teams converted a brace each, thus BN Polo won the encounter by 10-6½ as the losing side had a half goal handicap advantage. Islamabad polo season has started with this 4-goal tournament, in which six top teams are exhibiting their prowess. The teams are divided into two pools as pool A consists of Shahtaj, PAF and Kalabagh while pool B comprises Asean, Sheikh Enterprises and BN Polo. Earlier on Thursday, the first semifinal was played and was won by Kalabagh, who qualified for the main final while the losing side, Shahtaj booked berth in the subsidiary final.

Tower 21 Polo Super League: Zacky Reapers win title
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE:-Zacky Reapers clinched the Tower 21 Polo Super League trophy after toppling Platinum Homes Tigers by 8-5½ in the final here at the Lahore Polo Club ground on Sunday.  The three-week Tower 21 Polo Super League was participated by top national and international players and after tough and challenging competitions, Zacky Reapers and Platinum Homes Tigers succeeded in qualifying the main final. Zacky Reapers played better polo in the final and emerged as title winners of the prestigious polo league.  Shah Qubilai Alam was hero of the final as he played outstanding polo and contributed with fabulous four goals. His teammates also contributed well in their sides’ title triumph as Mustafa Aziz Anwar thrashed in two tremendous goals while Nazar Dean Ali Khan and Saif Ullah Noon converted one goal each.  From Platinum Homes Tigers, 11-year-old Umar Ashfaq also impressed the spectators with his super polo skills and techniques and contributed with a convincing hat-trick of goals and Aleem Tiwana struck one goal but despite playing well and having one and a half goal handicap advantage, the efforts of Platinum Homes Tigers players couldn’t bear fruit for their side.  Noor Manika graced the final as chief guest and distributed prizes and shields among the winners and top performers. The other prominent ones present on the occasion were Lahore Polo Club President Umer Sadik, Secretary Agha Murtaza Ali Khan, executive committee members, players and their families and polo lovers.  Eleven-year-old Umar Ashfaq was handed over the emerging polo player award, Amirreza Behboudi was given the highest goal scorer award, Platinum Homes Tigers were given the highest goal-scoring team award, Zacky Reapers pony was given the best polo pony award while Zacky Reapers players received the winning trophy, Platinum Homes Tigers the runners-up trophy and ZS Lions received the third position trophy.  Addressing the concluding ceremony, Lahore Polo Club President Umer Sadik extended his gratitude to Tower 21 for generously sponsoring the three-week Tower 21 Polo Super League and hoped that Tower 21 will continue to support this beautiful game of kings and knights in future.

Guard Filter thrash Guard Rice in exhibition polo match
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE:-Guard Filter Team outclassed Guard Rice Team by 10-1 in an exhibition polo match that was conducted in collaboration with Guard Group to celebrate the 100-year celebrations of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) here at the Lahore Polo Club ground on Saturday.  Taimoor Ali Malik played superb polo throughout the match and amused the spectators with his outstanding polo skills and excellent pony work. He emerged as most valuable player of the match from the winning team by smashing in superb six goals. His teammates Hussain Monnoo hammered a hat-trick of goals and Saqib Khan Khakwani struck one goal. The only goal from the losing side came from Adil Tiwana. Vanita was awarded the best polo pony award, who is owned by Taimoor Ali Malik.  At the prize distribution ceremony, chief guest DC Lahore Umar Sher Chatha, along with Lahore Polo Club President Umer Sadik and LCCI President Nauman Kabeer, distributed prizes and shields among the winners and top performers. The chief guest and the LCCI President also thanked LPC President for conducting the exhibition match in a successful manner.

Tower 21 Polo Super League: Zacky Reapers beat Remington Stars
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE:-Zackry Reapers recorded an impressive 6-3 triumph over high-flying Remington Stars in the Tower 21 Polo Super League match played here at the Lahore Polo Club on Thursday.   Shah Qubilai Alam played hero’s role in the victory of Zacky Reapers as he utilized his vast experience and excellent polo skills and techniques that helped him hammer a convincing hat-trick of goals for the winning team while Saif Ullah Noon banged in a beautiful brace and Mustafa Aziz Anwar scored one goal.   For Remington Stars, who were unbeaten for a couple of matches, tasted the defeat at last as they could convert only three goals against the phenomenal Zacky Reapers. This time, Bilal Hayat Noon banged in a brace for the losing side while Hamza Mawaz Khan contributed with only one goal.   The excited match was witnessed by Lahore Polo Club President Umer Sadik, Secretary Agha Murtaza Ali Khan, executive committee members, players and their families and polo lovers.

Polo Super League: Zacky Reapers stun Platinum 10-5
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE:-Superb hat-trick each by Mustafa Aziz Anwar and Saif Hayat Noon helped Zacky Reapers overpower Platinum Homes Tigers by a huge margin of 10-5 in the Tower 21 Polo Super League match here at the Lahore Polo Club ground on Tuesday.    Zacky Reapers dominated the match right from the word go and maintained their supremacy till the end, winning the encounter with a huge margin of 10-5. Mustafa Aziz Anwar and Bilal Hayat Noon emerged as heroes of the day from the winning side as they played outstanding polo and amused the spectators with their excellent mallet and pony work and also contributed with tremendous three goals each.   The other two members of the side – Shah Qubilai Alam and Nazar Dean Ali Khan – played equally well and thrashed in two brilliant goal each to guide their side with an emphatic victory. For Platinum Homes Tigers, Amirreza Behboudi and 12-year-old Umar Ashfaq contributed with two goals each while Aleem Tiwana converted one goal. On Wednesday (March 23, 2022), ZS Lions will take on Platinum Homes Tigers in the only match of the day.

Newage Cables/Master Paints win the title of Pakistan National Open Polo Championship
Ijaz Ajmed LAHORE:-Newage Cables/Master Paints clinched the coveted trophy after beating 11-10 in the final of the 1st President of Pakistan National Open Polo Championship 2022 sponsored by MidCity here at the Jinnah Polo Fields on Sunday. Gonzalo Deltour emerged as hero of the day as he displayed marvellous mallet and pony work and contributed with excellent eight goals while Vieri Antinori banged in a brace and Alman Jalil Azam scored one goal. For Diamond Paints, Max Charlton though played well and fired in five goals while Ahmed Ali Tiwana cracked a quartet and Mir Shoaib Ahmed stuck one goal but their efforts proved futile in the end. Both the sides played extremely well against each other in the nail-biting title clash and matched fire-with-fire till the end as the score at the end of the fifth chukker the score was level at 10-10. The match was then decided in the sudden death sixth chukker, where both the teams played extremely well but Gonzalo Deltour played extraordinary polo in the crucial sudden death chukker and smashed in a superb match-winning goal to guide Newage Cables/Master Paints to a well-deserving 11-10 title victory. On the other hand, Remounts players held their nerves in the seventh chukker to claim the third position by beating Master Paints by a narrow margin of 10-9. Simon Prado was star of the day for Remounts as he smashed in superb six goals while Nico Roberts hammered a week of goals and ALD Imran Shahid struck one goal. For Master Paints, Marcos Panelo cracked a classic quartet while Martin Carlos and Bilal Haye banged in a brace each and Sufi Muhammad Haroon scored one goal. Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar graced the final as chief guest and gave away prizes and shields to the winners and top performers. Other prominent ones present on the occasion were former Governor Punjab Lt Gen (R) Khalid Maqbool, Pakistan Polo Association Secretary Lt Col Ayaz, JPF President Lt Col (R) Shoaib Aftab, Secretary Maj (R) Baber Mahboob Awan, players and their families and polo enthusiasts. At the prize distribution ceremony after the thrilling final, Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) member and former five-goal player Syed Shahid Ali Shah was awarded the life time achievement award while Usman Aziz Anwar was awarded the best player in -2-0 category, in 0-2 category,  Imran Shahid was named the best player, in 2-4 category, Raja Temur Nadeem emerged as the best player, and Pakistan's best player award was claimed by Hissam Ali Hyder, the best foreign player award was clinched by Gonzalo Deltour of Newage Cables/Master Paints, the best foreign polo pony award was claimed by Sufi Haroon's pony and the best local breed pony award was lifted by local pony of Mona Dipot and the award was received by Brig Muhammad Naeem. In the end, JPF President Lt Col (R) Shoaib Aftab thanked Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, sponsors MidCity Housing, Suzuki Motors, Askari Bank and DHA and presented then a souvenir each.
