SRA Memorial Polo Cup: Platinum Homes qualify for main final
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: Platinum Homes defeated Master Paints Black to qualify for the main final while FG/Din Polo defeated Barry’s for the subsidiary final in the Lt Gen Shah Rafi Alam (SRA) Memorial Polo Cup Tournament sponsored by Dawn Bread here at the Lahore Polo Club ground on Thursday.  The first match of the day was contested between Platinum Homes and Master Paints Black and after a tough competition, Platinum Homes recorded a narrow 6½-5 victory and also earned a place in the main final. Amirreza Behboudi played a key role in Platinum Homes’ triumph as he hammered a hat-trick of goals while his teammates Bilal Noon banged in a brace Agha Musa Ali Khan converted one goal.  Manuel Caranza though played outstanding polo and smashed in all the six goals from Master Pants Black yet his magic couldn’t steer his side to a much-needed victory.  In the second match of the day, FG/Din Polo overpowered Team Barry’s by a good margin of 10½-5 goals. In-form Edward Morris pumped in fabulous five goals from the winning team while Mian Abbas Mukhtar converted two and Farhad Mohammad Sheikh and Shah Shamyl Alam one goal apiece. For Team Barry’s, Rulo Trotz fired in four goals while Daniyal Sheikh scored one goal.

SRA Memorial Polo Cup: DP/Sheikhoo, Guard Group register victories
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: Diamond Paints/Sheikhoo Steel and Guard Group registered victories in the Lt Gen Shah Rafi Alam (SRA) Memorial Polo Cup Tournament sponsored by Dawn Bread here at the Lahore Polo Club ground on Wednesday. The first match of the day was contested between Diamond Paints/Shekhoo Steel and Dawn Bread, and after a tough fight, the team Diamond Paints/Shekhoo Steel succeeded in winning the match by 5-3½ goals. Nicolas Antinori emerged as hero of the day from the winning team, as he not only displayed high quality polo skills and techniques but also contributed with three tremendous goals while Mir Huzaifa Ahmed thrashed in two goals. Juan Cruz Greguol banged in a brace and Alman Jalil Azam struck one goal from Dawn Bread, while they had a half goal handicap advantage. In the second match of the second day, the Guard Group team defeated Diamond Pants by a narrow margin of 5-4. Taimur Ali Malik was the hero from Team Guard Group as he was in sublime form and displayed very impressive mallet and horse work to amuse the spectators with his marvelous three goals while his teammate Saqib Khan Khakwani also played well and contributed with two brilliant goals. Abdul Rehman Monnoo scored all the four goals from team Diamond Paints. Today (Thursday), two crucial matches will be played as FG/Din Polo will compete against Barry’s in the first match of the day at 1:30 pm while Master Pants Black will fight against Platinum Homes in the second match of the day at 2:30 pm. Lahore Polo Club President Omar Sadiq, Secretary Agha Murtaza Ali Khan, Executive Committee members Shah Qubilai Alam, Feroz Gulzar, Usman Haye, Agha Najeeb Raza and Saqib Khan Khakwani as well as players, their families and a large number of polo lovers were also present on this occasion. They all enjoyed the exciting and challenging matches and supported their favourite teams well.

SRA Alam Memorial Polo: Platinum Homes, Master Paints win
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: Two important matches were played on the first day of the Lt Gen Shah Rafi Alam Memorial Polo Cup sponsored by Dawn Bread as Platinum Homes and Master Paints Black emerged victorious on Tuesday here at the Lahore Polo Club.  A good number of families and spectators along with Lahore Polo Club President Omar Sadiq, Secretary Agha Murtaza Ali Khan, Executive Committee members Feroze Gulzar, Usman Haye, Saqib Khan Khakwani, Agha Najeeb Raza and others were also present on this occasion. The polo lovers witnessed and enjoyed the enthralling matches and also supported and cheered for their favourite teams during the matches.  In the first match of the day, Platinum Homes edged out FG/Din Polo by a close margin of 6-5½ goals. Iranian player Amirreza Behboudi of Platinum Homes showed a great game and smashed in superb six goals. English player Edward Morris scored three goals while Shah Shamyl Alam and Farhad Muhammad Shaikh converted one goal each from FG/Din Polo.  In the second match of the day, Master Paints Black played a great game and defeated Team Barry’s by 8-7. Argentinean player Manuel Caranza was in sublime form and pumped in splendid seven goals while Sufi Muhammad Haroon and Sufi Muhammad Amir slammed in one goal each for Master Paints Black. Daniyal Sheikh and Rulo Trotz hammered a hat-trick each from the losing side, which had a half-goal advantage. On Wednesday, two important matches will be contested as the first match of the day will be played between Diamond Pants/Sheikhoo Steel and Dawn Bread at 1:30 pm while Diamond Paints will vie against Guard Group at 2:30 pm.

Shaukat Khanum Pink Polo Cup 2022: DP/Sheikhoo Steels win trophy
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: Diamond Paints/Sheikhoo Steels clinched the Shaukat Khanum Pink Polo Cup after defeating FG/Din Polo by 9-6½ in the main final played here at the Jinnah Polo Fields (JPF) on Sunday. Before the main final, various events were organized to support the Shaukat Khanum to spread awareness about breast cancer. The variety of shows and the exciting main final were witnessed by a good number of polo enthusiasts including Chief Guest CEO Shaukat Khanum Dr Faisal Sultan, some showbiz stars, JPF President Lt Col Shoaib Aftab (R), Secretary Major Baber Mehboob (R) and others. Before the main final, the women's tent-pegging competition was held followed by cavalcade competitions and Harley-Davidson bikers’ march past. Apart from this, there was a performance by the army band. The final match between Diamond Paints/Sheikhoo Steel and FG/Din Polo proved very interesting and thrilling and after a tough contest, Diamond Paints/Sheikhoo Steels emerged as winners with a score of 9-6½. Nicholas Antinori played superb polo from the winning side as he smashed in superb six goals while he was ably assisted by Mir Huzaifa Ahmed, who contributed with three tremendous goals. From FG/Din Polo, Edward Morris fired in five goals and Sheikh Muhammad Raffay struck one goal. Earlier in the subsidiary final, the Master Paints team defeated the Nagina Polo team by 9-6½. At the concluding ceremony, chief guest CEO Shaukat Khanum Dr. Faisal Sultan expressed special thanks to Jinnah Polo Fields and also handed over prizes to the winners and top performers. He also gave away the prize of the final to Mir Huzaifa Ahmed's mare Kamila. At the end, Quadrum Band performed well while singer Malko also enthralled the audience by singing different songs.

Lahore Smart City Polo in Pink Tournament: Haye Squad lift trophy
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: Haye Squad lifted the Lahore Smart City Polo in Pink Tournament trophy after edging out Team Navy Newage Cables by 7-4½ in the main final played here at the Lahore Polo Club ground on Sunday. The final match between Haye Squad and Newage Cables proved very enthralling and interesting, which was witnessed and enjoyed by a packed to capacity crowd present at the occasion. Hero of the day was Saqib Khan Khakwani, who not only played excellent polo throughout the final and was also well supported by his teammates including a foreign player Marion, experienced Usman Haye and young Eesha Haye, but he also succeeded in converting splendid seven goals from the winning team. Agha Adam Ali Khan scored two and Philipa Henry and Alman Jalil Azam scored one goal each from Newage Cables. Earlier in the subsidiary final, the Eagles team played well against the Pebbles Breakers team and after a very tough fight, the Eagles team managed to beat their opponents by a narrow margin of 4½-4. Ms Mahnoor Zahid of Lahore Smart City graced the prize distribution ceremony as chief guest and she, along with Lahore Polo Club President Omar Sadiq, distributed prizes among the winners of top performers. The LPC president also thanked both Pink Ribbon and Lahore Smart City for sponsoring and supporting the event and hoped that they would continue to support polo, the game of kings and knights. Other notables present on the occasion were Lahore Smart City Chief Operating Officer Imran Zahid, Chief Financial Officer Zahid Arif, Director Sales, Director Marketing, Umar Aftab of Pink Ribbon Pakistan, LPC Secretary Agha Murtaza Ali Khan, executive committee members and a good number of families and polo lovers.

Newage Cables beat Platinum Homes in 2 Chukkers to reach in final
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: Newage Cables polo team qualified for the main final by first defeating Platinum Homes and then Remington Pharma/Gard Group team in the two-chukker matches played under the American system in the Lahore Smart City (LSC) Polo in Pink Tournament here at the Lahore Polo Club on Friday.  The Newage Cables polo team defeated the Platinum Homes team by 4-3½ in the first two-round match. Shah Shamyl Alam was the hero, who thrashed in two tremendous goals while his teammates Alman Jalil Azam and Philipa Henry slammed in one goal apiece. Agha Musa banged in a brace and Bilal Noon struck one goal from team Platinum Homes, which had a half goal advantage. In the second two-chukker match, Newage Cables once again played well, but this time against the Remington Pharma/Guard Group team and outpaced them by 5-3. Shah Shamyl Alam and Alman Jalil Azam once again shone with their mallets and polo ponies and pumped in two goals each while the remaining one was converted by foreign player Philipa Henry. From the losing side, Taimur Ali Malik converted two beautiful goals and Saqib Khan Khakwani one goal.  In the third two-round match, Platinum Homes defeated Remington Pharma/Guard Group by a narrow margin of 3½-3 goals. Agha Musa converted all the three goals for Platinum Homes, which had a half goal handicap advantage. From the losing team, Saqib Khan Khakwani scored two goals and Taimur Ali Malik converted one goal.  Meanwhile, The Pebble Breakers team qualified for the subsidiary final. The main and subsidiary finals will be played at the Lahore Polo Club on Sunday afternoon. The honor of playing the final at the historic Aibak Polo Ground goes to Newage Polo Team and Haye Squad.

Newage Cables, Platinum Homes and Remington Pharma earn victories
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: Three matches were decided on the second day of the Lahore Smart City Polo in Pink Tournament and after a tough competition, Newage Cables, Platinum Homes and Remington Pharma/Guard Group emerged as triumphant. In the first match of the day, Platinum Homes overwhelmed Lotto Carpets Singapore by 11-3. From Platinum Homes, Agha Musa Ali Khan played a great game and added superb six goals in the winning team’s tally. The other key contributors from the winning team were Bilal Noon and Qadeer Ashfaq, who thrashed in three and two goals respectively. The losing team, Lotto Carpets Singapore, had a two-goal handicap advantage, while Ali Ahsan Siddiqui scored one goal. Newage Cables had to struggle hard to overcome spirited Team Pebble Breaker by 5-4 in the sudden death chukker as the score was level at 4-4 by the end of the fourth chukker. Alman Jalil Azam was top scorer from the winning team as he hammered a hat-trick of goals while Agha Adam Ali Khan and Philipa Henry contributed with one goal apiece. From the losing team, Atif Yar Tiwana slammed in three goals while Marion converted one goal.  In the third and final match of the day, the Remington Pharma/Guard Group team outsmarted Black Horse Pants team by 11-5. Basel Faisal Khokhar from Remington Pharma/Guard Group played a brilliant game and emerged as a top scorer with a contribution of impressive six goals while Taimur Ali Malik also excelled with his mallet and pony and smashed in fabulous five goals.  The losing team, Black Horse Pants, had a two-goal handicap advantage while Saif Noon hammered two goals and Aleem Yar Tiwana converted one. Two matches will be played today (Thursday) here at the Lahore Polo Club ground.

Shaukat Khanum Pink Polo Cup: Master Paints down Haji Sons 9-3
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: Master Paints outlasted Haji Sons by 9-3 goals in the ongoing Shaukat Khanum Pink Polo Cup 2022 match played here at the Jinnah Polo Fields on Wednesday. In the only match played on the third day, Master Paints players displayed outstanding polo skills and techniques that helped them topple Team Haji Sons by a good margin of 9-3. Jinnah Polo Fields President Lt Col Shoaib Aftab (R), Secretary Maj Baber Mehboob Awan (R), polo players, their families and supporters were also present on this occasion. Master Paints were fully supported by brilliance of their foreign player Manuel Caranza, who played key role in their tremendous triumph as he did magic with mallet and polo pony and also contributed with splendid seven goals. The emerging young player Sufi Mohammad Hashim also played well and slammed in two impressive goals.  From the losing side, Omar Asjad Malhi though shone with his stick and pony work and also with a brace of goals and Mumtaz Abbas Niazi with a goal, yet their efforts couldn’t yield results for Team Haji Sons.

Polo Cup: Diamond Paints, Platinum Homes score wins
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: Diamond Paints/Sheikhoo Steel and Platinum Homes registered easy victories in the Shaukat Khanum Pink Polo Cup 2022 matches played here at the Jinnah Polo Fields on Tuesday.  In the first match of the day, Diamond Paints/Sheikhoo Steel trounced 4 Corps by 14-4½. Nico Antinori played extremely well from the winning side and emerged as hero of the match. He contributed with superb seven goals while Osman Aziz Anwar and Mir Huzaifa Ahmed thrashed in three goals each and Muhammad Matloob Aizad converted one goal. Team 4 Corps had two and a half goal handicap advantage while Lt Col Rab Nawaz Tiwana and Maj Adil Sultan Rao scored one goal apiece.  The second match of the opening day also proved a one-sided affair, where Platinum Homes outpaced team Nagina by 10-3½. It was combined effort by entire team that helped Platinum Homes a big margin victory as their heroes Amirreza Behbodi, Ahmad Zubair Butt and Farasat Ali Chatha contributed with three tremendous goals each while Umer Ashfaq converted one goal. From Team Nagina, which had one and a half goal handicap advantage, Muhammad Reza Behbodi banged in a brace.

Lahore Smart City Polo in Pink Tournament gets underway
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: The Lahore Smart City Polo in Pink Tournament rolled into action here at the Lahore Polo Club ground on Tuesday.  “The Lahore Polo Club organizes Polo in Pink every year for a charity event which aims to raise awareness about breast cancer in women. This year too, Lahore Smart City Polo in Pink Tournament is being organized by the club for this noble cause,” said LPC President Umar Sadiq, while addressing a press conference here on Tuesday. Other notables present on the occasion were LPC Secretary Agha Murtaza Ali Khan, Lahore Smart City Chief Operating Officer Imran Zahid, Chief Finance Officer Zahid Arif, Head of Pink Ribbon Pakistan Umar Aftab, Executive Committee member Usman Haye and women players from different countries. LPC Secretary Agha Murtaza Ali Khan said that total 11 teams have been taking part in the tournament, which have been divided into two pools. Each team also includes foreign players. “Two players are from America, Laurel Howe and Danielle Lussi while Marion Dierickx is from Belgium, Phillip Henry from Australia and Jessica Schnieder and Jane Buchan from Canada. Eesha Haye, Fatima Mazhar, Isra Zeeshan, Raqia Mansoor, while Sofia Deana Khan belongs to Pakistan and Ukraine. “Teams in Pool A include Haye Squad, Zacky Farms Reapers, FG/Din Polo, The Eagles and Lahore Smart City while Pool B teams are Platinum Homes, Lotto Carpets Singapore, Newage Cables, Pebble Breakers, Black Horse Paints and Remington Pharma/Guard Group,” he added.  Sharing his views, Lahore Smart City COO Imran Zahid said: “We always support good causes. Pink Ribbon and Lahore Polo Club are promoting a good cause which we are fully supporting and we will continue to support causes in future.” Head of Pink Ribbon Pakistan Umar Aftab said that Pink Ribbon has started the OPD of a breast cancer hospital in Lahore. Soon the full hospital will be operational and benefit the patients in this regard. “We are thankful to Lahore Polo Club and Smart City for the support in raising breast cancer awareness among Pakistani women.” Meanwhile, two matches were played on the opening day of the event, where Haye Squad and FG/Din emerged as winners after recording comprehensive victories.  In the first match of the day, Haye Squad outpaced Zacky Farm Reapers by 10-4½. Usman Haye emerged as hero of the day from Haye Squad as he fired in four fabulous goals while Saqib Khan Khakwani hammered a hat-trick, foreign player Philipa Henry banged in a brace and Ibrahim Khan struck one goal. From Zacky Farm Reapers, which had one and a half goal handicap advantage, Nazar Dean Ali Khan thrashed in two goals and Mian Mustafa Aziz scored one goal.  The second match of the day was a two-chukker match played among three teams including FG/Din, Lahore Smart City and The Eagles. FG/Din won both of their matches to emerge victorious. FG/Din first beat The Eagles by 4-2½ and then outsmarted Lahore Smart City by 7½-1 to win the two-chukker match.
