Dubai (UAE): Dubai Capitals (DC) outclassed Abu Dhabi Knight Riders (ADKR) by 73 runs in the open fixture of the ILT20 cricket league here at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday night. ADKR could score 114 runs in 20 overs, as they had 188 runs target to win a historical tie of United Arabs Emirates (UAE) cricket. Dubai Capitals’ skipper Rovman Powell displayed an inspiring performance with both bat and ball that was key in his team’s triumph.
On Friday, ADKR captain Sunil Narine won the toss and elected to field first, as the Dubai Capital posted 187 for 6 runs on the board in their allotted 20 overs. Powell smashed 48 runs in 29 balls, as his innings included 3 fours and 3 sixes while his teammate Robin Uthappa contributed 43 runs. He faced 33 balls and smashed three fours and two big sixes. Joe Root and Sikandar Raza scored 26 runs each innings at the crucial stage of the innings. Ali Khan (2 for 45), Ravi Rampaul (2 for 36), Andre Russell (1 for 31), and Sunil Narine (1 for 28) were the wicket-taker bowlers for ADKR.
ADKR could score only 114 runs in 20 overs, as their single wicket was in the pocket. Only Paul Stirling erected in front of the Dubai Capitals’ bowling, who 58 runs off 38 balls. He hit five fours and two huge sixes during his innings. Andre Russell scored 12 runs, as the rest of the batters could not touch the double figure. For the winners, Rovman Powell (2 for 15), Mujeeb-ur-Rehman (2 for 16), Akif Raja (2 for 20), Isuru Udana (1 for 10), Sikandar Raza (1 for 17) and Hazrat Luqman (1 for 23) were successful bowlers.

Sylhet, Bangladesh (October 13, 2022): Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by one run in a last-ball thriller in the second semi-final at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium (SICS) to qualify for the final of the ACC Women’s Asia Cup. The final will be played between India and Sri Lanka on Saturday, 15 October.
Requiring nine runs of the last over, and with three runs required to win off the final ball, Nida Dar was run-out while attempting to take a double, as Pakistan managed to score 121 for six in their 20 overs.
Chasing 123 runs to win, the opening pair of Muneeba Ali and Sidra Amin provided a solid 31-run start to the innings. The left-handed Muneeba scored 18 off 10 balls, hitting three fours, before getting herself run-out on the first ball of the fourth over. After the departure of Muneeba, captain Bismah Maroof joined Sidra and the pair added a 16-run partnership for the second wicket.
Sidra (nine off 20, 1x4) got back to the hut while playing a reverse flick off Inoka Ranaweera on the last ball of the seventh over with 47 runs on the board. In the batting powerplay, Pakistan scored 46 for one, and struck six fours. Pakistan were in a spot of bother when they lost Omaima Sohail (10, 14b) in the 11th over and scoreboard reading Pakistan 65 for three.
At the crucial juncture of the match, Bismah and Nida got together and the most experienced pair took Pakistan to 107, with Bismah getting dismissed for 42 off 41, studded with four fours. The pair stitched 42 runs for the fourth wicket.
The dismissal of Bismah gave a ray of hope to Sri Lanka and they fully capitalised on the chance and restricted Pakistan to 121. Nida scored run-a-ball 26, and struck one four.
For Sri Lanka, Inoka Ranweera bagged two wickets for 17 runs.
Earlier, after opting to bat first, Sri Lanka managed to score 122 for six in their 20 overs, on the back of 50-run partnership between Harshitha Samarawickrama (35, 41b, 1x4) and Nilakshi de Silva (14, 27b) for the third wicket. Opening batter Anushka Sanjeewani was other notable run getter with 26 off 21 balls, which included one four and one six.
Nashra Sandhu was the most successful bowler for the winning team with match figures of 4-0-17-3. Spinners Sadia Iqbal and Nida and right-arm fast Aiman Anwer scooped one wicket each.

Sylhet (Bangladesh) Omaima Sohail’s maiden five-wicket haul led Pakistan to a five-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the 21st fixture of the ACC Women’s Asia Cup at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium (SICS) on Tuesday afternoon.
This was Pakistan’s fifth win from six outings in the tournament. The win also confirms Pakistan finished second on the points table with 10 points. They will now take on Sri Lanka – who finished the table on third position in the second semi-final, which will take place on Thursday, 13 October. The match will be broadcast live on PTV Sports. The toss will take place at 1200 PKT and first ball will be bowled at 1230 PKT.
The first semi-final will be played between India and Thailand on the same day in the morning.
Earlier, in today’s encounter, the toss was won by Sri Lanka and opted to bat first, after the toss was delayed and match begun after an hour from scheduled time due to rain and wet outfield.
The right-arm off-spinner Omaima – who had taken seven wickets from 36 T20Is before today’s match was introduced in the bowling by the captain as a fifth bowler and came into bowl in the eighth over of the innings. She got the wicket in her first over, getting Nilakshi de Silva for naught. In her next two overs, she bagged two wickets each in an over and ended up with match figures of 4-0-13-5.
The spin twin of Nida Dar and Tuba Hasan shared three wickets between them, Sri Lanka were dismissed for 112 in the 19th over. For Sri Lanka, their captain Chamari Athapaththu top-scored with a 26-ball 41, which included nine fours.
In reply, the opening pair of Muneeba Ali and Sidra Amin provided a 28-run start in 4.1 overs. After the departure of Sidra for run-a-ball 13 which included two fours, Pakistan batters continue to return back to the hut as Pakistan at one point were struggling at 51 for four in 9.2 overs. Nida was joined by Aliya Riaz and the pair added a crucial 45-run partnership for the fifth wicket.
After the departure of Aliya (20, 26b, three fours), Ayesha Naseem joined Nida in the middle and helped Pakistan achieved the target on the penultimate ball of the 19th over. The right-handed batter Ayesha scored an unbeaten 16 off five balls, which included two sixes struck in the 19th over to finish the match. Nida returned undefeated on 26 off 28, hitting one four, and knitted 17 runs for the sixth wicket with Ayesha.

Sylhet (Bangladesh):-Pakistan women got their ACC Women’s Asia Cup campaign back on track when they recorded only their third victory over India women in 13 T20Is and 24 internationals overall in Sylhet on Friday.
Nida Dar led the batting charge when she returned unbeaten on a whirlwind 37-ball 56 not out to help Pakistan collect 137 for six. She then claimed two wickets for 23 runs and combined with Nashra Sandhu (three for 30) and Sadia Iqbal (two for 24) to dismiss a formidable and in-form India for 124 in 19.4 overs, who needed 18 runs off the last over.
Pakistan’s 13 runs victory on Friday was their first over India since March 2016 when they won in Delhi by two runs on the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern Method. Pakistan’s other win over India was in Galle in 2012, when they won by one run. Both these victories came in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cups, while Pakistan is still searching for their maiden ODI win in 11 encounters.
Nida was at her brilliant best, when she clubbed five fours and a six, and put on 76 runs for the fourth wicket with Bismah Maroof after Pakistan had slipped to 33 for three after electing to bat first. Bismah was dismissed in the 16th over after hitting two fours in her 35-ball innings, but Nida carried the innings and helped Pakistan collect 26 runs off the last four overs.
Openers Muneeba Ali (17) and Sidra Amin (11) had provided a solid start when they raced to 26 for no loss in 4.2 overs, before both departed in the space of eight balls. However, Nida and Bismah, followed by a brief run-a-ball innings by Aliya Riaz and Ayesha Naseem helped Pakistan reach 137 for six.
The target was expected to be an easy and straightforward one for an experienced India, but Nashra, Nida and Sadia had other ideas as the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 runners-up were dismissed for 124 with two balls to spare.
The three bowlers not only bowled intelligently and smartly, they were very well backed by their fielders, who held almost all the catches and didn’t concede extra runs in the outfield.
The only blemish in the innings was when wicketkeeper Muneeba failed to stump the dangerous Smriti Mandhana, but the let-off didn’t prove costly as the opener was dismissed shortly afterwards by Nashra, who had earlier accounted for Sabbhineni Meghana. Nashra’s third victim was Radha Yadav.
Nida’s scalps included Jemimah Rodrigues (2) and captain Harmanpreet Kaur (12), while Sadiq Iqbal accounted for Deepti Sharma (16) and Richa Ghosh (26).
Pakistan’s victory over India is also commendable after they had suffered a four-wicket defeat against Thailand on Thursday. But in today’s performance, Bismah Maroof’s side proved yesterday’s defeat was nothing but a surprise and a bad day in the office for them.
Pakistan now has three wins in four matches, and will play the United Arab Emirates on Sunday. Their last league match will be against Sri Lanka on 11 October.
The top-four sides will progress to the semi-finals, while the final will be held on 15 October.

Sylhet (Bangladesh):-Thailand beat Pakistan by four wickets to hand Pakistan their first loss in the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium (SICS) on Thursday morning.
Chasing a modest 117-run target, Pakistan bowlers kept Thailand batters in check as Thailand chased down the target on the penultimate ball of the match. Requiring 16 runs from two overs, the 19th over went for only six runs bowled by Nida Dar and she picked the prized scalp of Natthakan Chantham who top-scored with a 51-ball 61, which included five fours and two sixes.
With 10 runs required of the last over, Rosenan Kanoh struck Diana for a four on the second ball to help her side achieved the target with four wickets in hand.
Nida and Tuba Hasan bagged two wickets apiece, while Nashra Sandhu and Kainat Imtiaz took a wicket each.
Earlier, after opting to bat first, Sidra Amin continued her fine form in the tournament, she top-scored with a 64-ball 56, smashing six boundaries. Pakistan scored 116 for five in their 20 overs at a slow and low track.
This was Pakistan’s first loss in the tournament. In three outings in the tournament, Pakistan have won last two matches played against Malaysia and defending champions Bangladesh. The team will now take on arch-rivals India tomorrow at the SICS. The match will be broadcast live on PTV Sports, with toss taking place at 12 and first ball to be bowled at 1230pm PKT.

Sylhet (Bangladesh):-After undergoing a 10-day camp at the Lahore Country Club, Muridke and three days of intense practice and preparations in Sylhet, Bangladesh, Pakistan are ready for action with their first match of the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup taking place tomorrow against Malaysia at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium (SICS).
Bismah Maroof-led Pakistan are eager to showcase their talent, skill and temperament in the shortest format of the game. The seven-team tournament follows a round-robin format where each team will play the other once before the top four sides qualify for the semi-finals. The final of the tournament will be played on 15 October. Pakistan will take on defending champions and hosts Bangladesh on 3 October whereas the game against arch-rivals India is scheduled on 7 October.
Pakistan finished on the third spot in the last edition of ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2018-19.
Pakistan captain Bismah Maroof: “The conditions here are the same as at home, the pitches will help the spinners. We will try to make full use of the conditions and get our momentum going and start on a winning note.
“The tournament’s format gives us a number of matches, providing us a great help to prepare for next year’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. We are not going to take any team lightly and try to execute ourselves well to win tomorrow’s match.”
Right-handed batter Sidra Amin is included in the side as an opener in place of out-of-form Iram Javed. Commenting on her inclusion in the side and pairing up with Muneeba Ali, Bismah said, “We have tried a new pair in the opening position, I hope Sidra performs, her runs at the top will give stability to the batting order which can contribute in the team’s win.”

The batters, bowlers and the fielders participating in the Women's Asia Cup will have no opportunity to challenge the umpire's decision on out and not out. The Women's Asia Cup 2022 which is commencing in Bangladesh from October 1 will have no DRS (Decision Review System), it is confirmed by Towhid Mahmood, the Tournament Director.
The decision to not have the DRS facilities has been taken in view of the high cost involved and also not the ICC's Elite Panel umpires and match referees will be officiating in this tournament. Generally, the DRS is used when the ICC's Elite Panel match officials are functioning.
"All the match officials- umpires and match-referees are women in this Women's Asia Cup", he added.
There have been no major changes in the Playing Conditions, it is learnt.
The new changes in the laws coming into play from October 1 will be effective in this Women's Asia Cup.
In a 15-day tournament this year, the UAE team will be making their first appearance in the competition. They were victorious against Malaysia in the final of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Women's T20 Championship, the qualifying event for the tournament proper.
Bangladesh are the current Asia Cup holders, having beaten India in a tight final in Kuala Lumpur in 2018.

Dubai (UAE):- An astonishing counterattack from Bhanuka Rajapaksa and impressive bowling performances from Pramod Madushan and Wanindu Hasaranaga set up a comfortable 23-run win for Sri Lanka over Pakistan in the final of the ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. This was the sixth instance of the island nation bagging the title.
Sri Lanka had set Pakistan 171 to win and that they were able to manage the imposing total was because of a scintillating 45-ball 71 not out from Rajapaksa.
The left-handed middle order batter rescued his team from a precarious 58 for five and added 58 and 54 runs with Hasaranga (21-ball 36, five fours and a six) and Chamika Karunaratne as 103 runs were added to the Sri Lankan total at the loss of just one wicket in the last 10 overs.
It was a turnaround of epic proportions considering the start Pakistan quicks had provided to their side. Naseem Shah’s brute of a delivery that nipped back into Kusal Mendis to dislodge his stumps provided Pakistan the first wicket on just the third delivery and Haris Rauf accounted for Pathum Nissanka, the other opener, as he holed out to mid-off.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam’s astute move to introduce the off-spin of Iftikhar Ahmed garnered his side the wicket of dangerous looking Dhananjaya de Silva, who had spanked four classic boundaries in the cover region in his 28 off 21.
Haris finished with brilliant figures of three for 29.
Pakistan stuttered in their run chase right from the beginning as Madushan’s double blows in the fourth over sent Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman back in the hut for just 22 runs.
Iftikhar Ahmed and Mohammad Rizwan staged a marvellous recovery with a 71-run partnership. Rizwan’s fighting innings saw him score 55 off 49 deliveries, finishing the tournament as the leading run-getter with 281 runs in six innings at an average of 56.20.
As Iftikhar started to take on the bowlers, Madushan struck again and had him caught at deep square-leg for 32 off 31 in the 14th over. Two overs later, Mohammad Nawaz pulled Karunaratne into the hands of deep fine-leg and the dismissal sparked a collapse that saw them lose their next five wickets for 15 runs.
Hasaragna struck thrice in one over – sending Rizwan, Asif Ali and Khushdil Shah back – and returned three for 27. Madushan dismissed Naseem Shah in the penultimate over to finish with four for 34.
Karunaratne (two for 27) bowled Mohammad Hasnain on the last ball of the match as Pakistan were bowled out for 147.

Dubai (UAE):-A fighting 55 not out in 48 balls from Pathum Nissanka and economical and incisive spells from spinners scripted Sri Lanka’s comfortable five-wicket win over Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday in what was a dress rehearsal for the final on Sunday.
The win took Sri Lanka to the final unscathed, Dasun Shanaka’s men finished the Super-4 with three straight wins – while this was Pakistan’s only loss in the round.
Pakistan, asked to bat, were bowled out for 121 with five balls to spare. Wanindu Hasaranga bowled four brilliant overs, returning three for 21. He accounted for Pakistan captain Babar Azam, who top-scored with 30 off 29, but the highlight of his spell came in the 15th over when he bowled Iftikhar Ahmed and Asif Ali on consecutive balls.
Maheesh Theekshana, bowling at frugal 5.25 runs per over, returned two for 21, and off-spinner Dhananjaya de Silva’s four overs leaked only 18 runs and provided Sri Lanka the important wicket of Khushdil Shah.
Right-arm fast bowler Pramod Madushan took Pakistan’s first and last wicket - dismissing Mohammad Rizwan in the fourth over and Haris Rauf on the first ball of the last.
All-rounder Mohammad Nawaz gave a glimpse of hope to the Pakistan fans of setting a challenging total with his 18-ball 26 in which he spanked two sixes and a four, but was run out in the penultimate over.
Intense first overs by Mohammad Hasnain and Haris lit up the Pakistani contingent of the crowd at the ‘Ring of Fire’ when the Sri Lankan run chase commenced. Hasnain, with a scorcher, squared up Kusal Mendis to induce a leading edge for Iftikhar to catch safely at the first slip. In the second over, Danushka Gunathilaka went chasing Haris’ back of the length delivery - that moved away - and edged it into Rizwan’s gloves.
From there on, Sri Lanka launched a counter-attack, despite the dismissal of de Silva in the fifth over. Nissanka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa stitched up a 51-run partnership and following the dismissal of the latter, Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka continued the attack with his 16-ball 21.
Hasnain and Haris finished with two wickets each, giving 21 and 19 runs.
Sri Lanka rolled over the target with three overs to spare.
