Saudi Arabia to host 2024 WAFF Women’s Football Championship

And host Saudi Arabia to fight for a titleSports Bulletin ReportRiyadh (Saudi Arabia): Saudi Arabia will host the 2024 West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) Women’s Championship. A milestone moment for women’s football in Saudi Arabia, the 2024 WAFF Women’s Championship will take place from 19-29 February in the coastal city of Jeddah.The host nation will be joined by Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, and two guests Guam and Nepal. The tournament will begin in group stage format with two groups of four, followed by the semi-finals and final with matches played at the King Abdullah Sports City and Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Sports City stadiums.The WAFF Women’s Championship is the latest international football tournament making its way to Jeddah, where the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup had recently been held. Jeddah also played host to the 2022 WAFF Futsal Championship where the national team rose to the occasion in front of its home fans and ended the tournament in second place with a silver medal.This upcoming edition also marks the Saudi Arabia women’s national team’s first-ever appearance in the WAFF Women’s Championship, as well as the first competition under Lluis Cortes, the new head coach. Since his appointment in December, the team has kicked off a new era in impressive fashion under the former Barcelona treble-winning coach, recording successive 2-0 victories against Syria.Lamia Bahaian, Vice President of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be hosting the WAFF Women’s Championship. Sports Bulletin ReportLAHORE: BN Polo clinched victory over Master Paints/Diamond Paints with a compelling 9-5 score in the opening match of the 4th Jinnah Gold Polo Cup sponsored by Sarsabz here at Jinnah Polo Fields on Tuesday.The tournament kick-started with an intense face-off between BN Polo and Master Paints/Diamond Paints, witnessing BN Polo taking the lead with a remarkable display of skill and teamwork. Hamza Mawaz Khan of BN Polo stood out with his exceptional performance, netting five impressive goals. Santiago Loza contributed significantly with two goals, while Santos Tomas and Babar Naseem each added one to the tally, showcasing the depth of BN Polo's attacking prowess. On the opposing side, despite a two-goal handicap advantage, Master Paints/Diamond Paints managed to score through Amirreza Behboudi, who found the back of the net twice, and Sufi Haroon, who added one to their score. BN Polo set a vigorous pace right from the start, securing a 2-0 lead early in the game. They continued their dominance into the second chukker, extending their lead to 6-1 with an array of four spectacular goals, contrasting with a single goal from their opponents. The third chukker saw a solitary goal from Master Paints/Diamond Paints narrowing the gap slightly to 6-2. Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi elected as PCB's Chairman

Shah Khawar had summoned a special meeting of the Board of Governors (BoG) today at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore.Addressing the BoG following his election, Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi said: “I am deeply honoured and humbled to have been unanimously elected as the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board. I am thankful for the trust and confidence reposed in me. Kashmir Solidarity Rugby: Lahore Hawks beat Islamabad Jinns 26-5 final
Sports Bulletin ReportLAHORE: Hosts Lahore Hawks outplayed Islamabad Jinns 26-5 in the final of the Kashmir Solidarity 10s Rugby Tournament that concluded here on Monday. Winners were up 07-0 at half time.Under the auspices of Pakistan Rugby Union, Lahore Rugby Football Club (LRFC) organized the 1st LRFC Kashmir Solidarity 10s Rugby Tournament with the corporation Servis Tyres at Pakistan Rugby Academy Lahore. Four teams participated in this one-day event, of which LRFC, Lahore Hawks, Islamabad Jinns, and Desert Camels Fort Abbas are the teams.Lahore Hawks beat Islamabad Jinns in the final by 26-5 and won this event. At half time, the score was 07-05. From Lahore Hawks, Amsal and Amir score two and two tries each, while Umer scores one and some conversions by other players. From Islamabad jinns, Sohaib scored only one try.Before that, league matches were played between four teams: in the first game, LRFC beat Desert Camels 29-05, Islamabad Jinns beat Desert Camels 24-0, Lahore Hawks beat LRFC 17-15, Lahore Hawks beat Desert Camels 19-0, and LRFC beat Islamabad Jinns 19-21. In 3rd and 4th position matches, LRFC beat Desert Camels 24-7.In the end, chief guest, President of Pakistan Rugby Union and Director of Servis Tyres Ch. Arif Saeed, along with chairmen PRU Fawzi Khawaja, distributed trophies and prizes. At this moment, many former players of Punjab Rugby, LRFC officials Tariq Naiazi, Haji Anwar, Umer Uaman, Mohammad Baber, Mohammad Pasha, Mohammad Waseem, and others also witnessed this event.

Davis Cup Tennis Tie: India outclass Pakistan 4-0
Sports Bulletin ReportISLAMABAD: India beat hosts Pakistan 4-0 in the Davis Cup World Group I Play-off Tie after winning all four matches at the grass courts of Pakistan Sports Complex. On Sunday, Pakistan lost Doubles and a reverse single match.The Indian duo of Saketh Myneni and Yuki Myneni outplayed Aqeel Khan and Muzammil in straight sets 2-0 with the score-line of 6-3, and 7-6. Later on, in singles, India's Niki Poonacha defeated Mohammad Shoaib in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 to extend his country's lead to 4-0.

Ramkumar overcomes Aisam 2-1 in a thrilling three sets contest at grass courtsAbdul Jabbar FaisalISLAMABAD: The Indian tennis team earned a 2-0 lead against Pakistan in the Davis Cup Tennis Tie World Group 1 play-off, which started at the grass courts of Aisam Tennis Arena, Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad on Saturday. Ramkumar Ramanathen, and Sriram Balaji claimed victories for India. The Doubles’ and two reverse singles will be played on Sunday (February 4, 2024) at the same venue.In the first singles, Ramkumar Ramanathen won the toss and decided to serve first, as he hit the first serve in the net, however, the Indian guy played an aggressive game and won the first game without conceding a solitary point. Both players exhibited top-class tennis in the first set and maintained their respective serves till 6-6. Aisam won the first set on tie-break at 7-3 by smashing a couple of aces.After losing the first set, Ramkumar changed his strategy and broke the first game of Aisam without conceding a single point. He maintained the same pace in the second game and finished in a similar style without losing any points and made the score 2-0. Aisam bounced back in the set by breaking the 4th game of his challenger to square the set point 2-2. Both players retained serves in the rest of the eight games. The score was one again level at 6-6. This time Ramkumar won the set on a tie-break to level the match at 2-2.In the decisive set, Aisam did not feel well owing to his injury and during the set, he got three minutes of a medical break. Ramkumar finished the third set 6-0. The final score-line of the match was 7-6 (7-3), 6-7 (7-4), 6-0.  In the second match, Sriram Balaji defeated Aqeel Khan in straight sets 2-0 at the same venue. The final score-line was 7-5, and 6-3.

President's Trophy: Pindi to host final between WAPDA and SNGPL
Sports Bulletin ReportRAWALPINDI: Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) set to meet in the President’s Trophy cricket tournament final, as the Pindi Cricket Stadium to host the final from February 9 to 13, 2024.According to media department of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), after seven rounds of matches played in Karachi. WAPDA and SNGPL qualified for the final after topping the points table, with five and four wins respectively. Mohammad Sajid and Waleed Yaqub will be the on-field umpires while Nadeem Arshad will serve as the match referee.

Diamond Paints/Master Paints clinched a nail-biting victory against DS Polo with a close score of 8-7 in the day's opening match. Benefiting from a two-goal handicap, Diamond Paints/Master Paints saw Amirreza Behboudi leading the charge with an impressive tally of four goals, complemented by Raja Jalal Arsalan and Raja Temur Nadeem, who contributed one goal each. DS Polo's challenge was spearheaded by Max Charlton, who dominated their scoring with six goals, and Ahmed Ali Tiwana, who added one goal to their effort. Diamond Paints/Master Paints entered the match with a two-goal handicap advantage, quickly capitalizing on it despite DS Polo's opening move, a successful 30-yard penalty, narrowing the gap to 2-1. Responding swiftly, Diamond/Master Paints extended their lead with a field goal, making it 3-1. However, just before the first chukker concluded, DS Polo managed to score another goal, bringing the score to a close 3-2. Kicking off the second chukker, Diamond/Master Paints widened their advantage with another field goal, pushing the score to 4-2. Aisam to face Ramkumar in the opening fixture of the World Group 1 Play-offAbdul Jabbar FaisalISLAMABAD: The Davis Cup Tennis Tie World Group 1 play-off between traditional rivals nations Pakistan and India will get underway here at the grass courts Aisam Tennis Arena of the Pakistan Sports Complex on Saturday, as ace national tennis player, Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi will face Ramkumar Ramanathen in the opening fixture.Referee Javier Moreno Perez announced the Draws on Friday at a local hotel. Pakistani tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq will take on Ramkumar Ramanathen of visiting team in the first single of the Davis Cup Tennis Tie while Pakistan number one Aqeel Khan will meet Shriram Balaji in the second encounter of the day.On the second day, the duo of local tennis lads, Muzammil Murtaza pairing with Barkatullah will lock horns with Indian pair Yuki Bhambri, and Saketh Myneni in the Doubles fixture. Reverse Singles will also be played on Sunday at the same venue.Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi said: “We are well prepared to encounter high-ranked Indian tennis players in the Davis Cup competitions. I have played against all visiting team’s lads in different tennis events abroad.
