Bangladesh register historical Test Series 2-0, Litton Das receives “Man of the Match” awardAbdul Jabbar FaisalRAWALPINDI: Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 6 wickets to post historical victory against Pakistan in the second Test match at Pindi Cricket Stadium Rawalpindi on Wednesday.This was just Bangladesh’s third series win outside home and first against Pakistan. And befittingly, Bangladesh’s most decorated and experienced cricketers – Mushfiqur Rahim (22) and Shakib Al Hasan (21) – were at the crease when their side wrote history. The two batters had joined hands at 153 for four after Abrar Ahmed had picked up his only wicket of the Test by dismissing Mominul Haque (34).In the first Test, Mushfiqur had scored a gallant 191 to steer Bangladesh to a commanding 565 in the first innings, while Shakib had taken four wickets in the match, including three for 44 as Pakistan were spun out for 146.For Pakistan, it was their sixth loss in 10 Tests at home since their 95 runs victory over South Africa on 8 February 2021, making it 1,303 days without a home Test win. Overall, it was Pakistan’s 11th loss in 23 Tests with eight wins since Hasan Ali’s 10-fer against Quinton de Kock’s side.It was also Shan Masood’s fifth successive loss as Pakistan captain since taking over from Babar Azam for last year’s tour to Australia, while it was also a forgettable start for Jason Gillespie as Pakistan’s red-ball head coach. With Pakistan’s next Test against England at home on 7 October, Bangladesh have left Pakistan with a mountain to climb.The series loss has also ended Pakistan’s hopes of qualifying for the ICC World Test Championship final at Lord’s next June. Bangladesh were 10 for 0 at the end of day 2. Earlier, visiting team captain won the toss and asked Pakistani counterpart to bat first. Opening batter Abdullah Shafique failed to score a solitary run, as he faced only 6 balls and bowled by Taskin Ahmed in the very first over of the match. Total score was also zero.A 107 runs partnership between duo of left-handed batter opener Siam Ayub and skipper Shan Masood for the second wicket stabled the position. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to play for England in all three formats. London (PR): England Women have named their squad for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 which takes place in United Arab Emirates in October.Wicketkeeper-batter Bess Heath and all-rounder Freya Kemp are selected in a T20 World Cup squad for the first time as is Danielle Gibson who was a travelling reserve for the last edition in South Africa.Bowler Sophie Ecclestone, the highest wicket taker in the 2023 T20 World Cup is named alongside fellow spinner Linsey Smith who returned to the England T20 squad earlier this year.The squad will head to Abu Dhabi for a training camp (13-24 September) before the official ICC warm-up games. They then face Bangladesh, South Africa, Scotland and West Indies in Group B across Sharjah and Dubai.
