Asian Open Taekwondo Championship: Pakistan claim 9 golds
Sports Bulletin ReportISLAMABAD: Pakistan male and female earned 9 gold medals on the opening day of the 5th COMBAXX Asian Open Taekwondo Championship after showing impressive and notable performance in the poomsae discipline here at Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex on Wednesday. The national players lifted 9 gold medals in 10 bouts, as Nepal won solitary gold.In Poomsae's U-30 mixed pair event, Pakistan's Flower Zaheer and Anas won gold with 7.48 points, Higher Education Commission's Ammar and Fatima won silver with 6.71 points, and Sindh's Shafi & Ulma won bronze with 6.43 and Zain Hasan and Latif of Nuces University won the fourth bronze medal by scoring 6.39 points.In the mixed pair of over 30 category, Ali and Shafaqat of Pakistan WAPDA were first with 6.59, Ali and Bashir of Pakistan were second with 6.26, Changaizi and Kausar of Punjab were third while Farhan and Hajra of Sindh came fourth.In the men's under-30 team event, Pakistan's Qadeer, Waheed and Hussain won gold with 7.48 points, Pakistan Army's Shehzad, Didar and Ahmed got silver with 7.36 points, While WAPDA's Khalid, Abbas and Ayub won the bronze and Army's Tariq, Gul and Jameel won the fourth bronze medal.In the men's over 30 team category, Pakistan's Hussain, Mumtaz and Ali stood first with 6.98, Army's Haq, Mehmood and Waqas stood second with 6.79, WAPDA's Ali, Saleem and Akhtar stood third and Saudi Arabia Albane, Al-Madali and Al-Abbas took the fourth position.In the women's under-40 individual event, Mehru-Nisa of Pakistan won gold, Aqsa Shafaqat of Pakistan won silver, Mahdiyeh Oghbaei of Iran won bronze and Hajira Nawab of Sindh won second bronze.In the Men's Under-40 Individual Event, Pakistan's Shahbaz Ahmed finished first, Saudi Arabia's Mohammad Ali Al-Abbas took second, Pakistan's Mudassar Hussain third and Saudi Arabia's Salman Ali Al-Albane took fourth position.In the Men's Under-30 Individual Event, Nepal's Ashmin Raut won gold, Pakistan's AqdusUllah won silver, Sindh's Hasan Alam won bronze and Pakistan's Ahmed Shahzad won fourth to bronze.In the women's under-30 individual event, Naila of Pakistan won first, Kinza Fatima of Pakistan second, Izha Rehman of Pakistan third and Yamna Bint Khalid of Pakistan won the fourth bronze medal.

Dakar en Jeux festival set to bring Youth Olympic spirit to Senegal
Sports Bulletin ReportSenegal (Dakar): The second edition of the Dakar en Jeux festival gets underway. It will bring a week of celebration of sport and culture to the host areas of the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Dakar 2026 – the first Olympic event on the African continent. This second edition will run until 4 November 2023.Following the success of last year’s inaugural festival, which saw thousands of people participate in sports initiations and demonstrations, music concerts and cultural activities, the 2023 edition will see an even greater focus on bringing sport and the Olympic spirit to Senegalese communities in the lead-up to Dakar 2026. Events will take place in the YOG host areas of Dakar, Diamniadio and Saly.Tens of thousands of spectators and 2,000 athletes are expected to take part in the five-day festival, which is a key engagement initiative of the Dakar 2026 Organising Committee (YOGOC) and is aimed at promoting the upcoming YOG while also engaging local youth, promoting physical activity and raising awareness about the values of the Olympic Movement.Kirsty Coventry, the Chair of the IOC Coordination Commission for Dakar 2026, said: “After the great success of the inaugural edition in 2022, Dakar is gearing up for another celebration and lots of excitement, as we look forward to the Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026. Dakar en Jeux isn't just about showcasing sports; it's also about embracing the values of the Youth Olympic Games, and building bridges between communities. People will have the opportunity to witness incredible athletes, experience the thrill of competition, and connect with like-minded individuals who share their passion for sport and culture.”The festival programme has been created by and for young people and is being delivered by the YOGOC in partnership with the Senegalese Olympic Committee, the city of Dakar, the cities of Diamniadio and Saly, the Senegalese government and the International Olympic Committee.The festival is set to begin, 31 October, with an opening ceremony at the iconic Monument de la Renaissance Africaine in Dakar. This marks three years to go until the start of the YOG Dakar 2026. The ceremony will see all 46 departments and 14 regions of Senegal come together to showcase their traditional dances and costumes, underlining the YOGOC’s vision to involve the whole of the host nation in the YOG.

Col (Retd) Mohammad Wasim Janjua officially announced that the 5th Asian Taekwondo Open Championship would be kicked off on November 1, 2023, at the Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad on Monday.Janjua was addressing a press conference at a local hotel flanked by the president, the Asian Taekwondo Union (ATU), Professor Kyu Seok Lee, and Omar Saeed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) PTF and further added that martial arts players from 27 countries would take part in the different taekwondo disciplines during the five days international prestigious showpiece.“The opening ceremony of the championship will take place on November 2 at the mentioned above venue while the closing ceremony will be celebrated on November 5, 2023. Taekwondo players from all over the world would chip in the mega event, as it will be a nice occasion for the local players to show their game skills in the mega international fixture, “he further said.While responding to a question, the head of the PTF said that the same venue had hosted the 4th Asian Open successfully. “Sports events are uplifting the positive image of Pakistan all over the world. This time, a huge number of international players will fight for medals. We invited India after completing all the requirements for the documentation but now the ball is in Indian court. I think they will not visit Pakistan, “he asserted.“Around 500 to 600 athletes from different 27 nations will compete for gold and different medals in Khyrougi and Poomsae disciplines during the 5-day competitions. Sports Bulletin ReportLAHORE: The Ali Embroidery Mills Junior National Tennis Championship 2023 started at the Sports Board Punjab Tennis Academy, Nishtar Park Lahore, with a vibrant opening ceremony on Sunday.Punjab Lawn Tennis Association (PLTA) Secretary, Rashid Malik (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz), graced the event as the chief guest and formally inaugurated this prestigious tournament. During the colorful opening ceremony, Malik praised Ali Embroidery Mills Pvt Ltd for their significant contributions to the promotion of tennis in the country. He acknowledged the generous support of Ali Embroidery Mills' CEO, Tariq Zaman, in not only organizing national tournaments but also conducting the High-Performance Tennis Camps, which are playing a pivotal role in enhancing the skills of top players, who have gone on to achieve national and international recognition for their country. The first day of the championship witnessed more than 20 matches, with top players securing comfortable victories, showcasing a high standard of tennis throughout the day. In the Girls Under-18 Singles finals, Amna Ali Qayum got rid of Zunaisha Noor 2-1 in a well-contested three sets contest with the final score-line of 1-6, 6-3, and 6-2.In the first set of the Boys’ Under-18 final, Hamza Roman exhibited top-class tennis and played some powerful forehand and backhand drives, which were not returnable. He did not allow his opponent Mohammad Hamza to settle his feet on the court. Hamza Roman won the first set without conceding a solitary game. His drop shorts were also applaudable.Later, in the second set, Mohammad Hamza showed some resistance and displayed shining tennis, as the second set went up neck-to-neck till 3-3, as both players held their respective serves. It was a well-contested set in which both players locked the horns. A large number of spectators enjoyed the game of both teenagers in the Aqeel Khan Centre Tennis Court of Pakistan Tennis Complex. Pakistan Open Tenpin Bowling Championship starts on November 7
Sports Bulletin ReportKARACHI: The Pakistan Open Tenpin Bowling Championship will roll into action on November 7, at Royal Rodale Club, DHA, Karachi.President, Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation (PTBF), Ijaz ur Rehman, said: “The preparations of the event are in full swing. Male and female athletes from across the country will participate in the championship. Eight categories of competitions will be held, including open singles, amateur, ladies, under-22, senior, media, doubles, and mixed team”. “Players who wish to participate in the championship can register their names till November 5. The championship will continue till November 12 and at the end of the championship, prizes will be distributed among the winning players. The Championship will be played under the auspices of PTPB in collaboration with the Sindh Tenpin Bowling Association.”

Lahore Smart City qualify for main final of LSC Polo in Pink Tournament
Sports Bulletin ReportLAHORE (October 26, 2023): Lahore Smart City qualified for the main final while FG Polo team earned a place in the subsidiary final of the Lahore Smart City Polo in Pink Tournament 2023 being played here at the Lahore Polo Club.In a thrilling contest, Lahore Smart City clinched their main final berth with a last-minute 4-3½ victory over Remington Pharma. Agha Musa Ali Khan was the star player for Lahore Smart City, showcasing his skills with four spectacular goals. Hamza Mawaz Khan, representing Remington Pharma with a half-goal handicap advantage, displayed an impressive performance by scoring three goals.The second match of the day saw Rijas Polo defeating Platinum Homes with a score of 5-4½. Ahmed Bilal Riaz contributed significantly with three goals for Rijas Polo, while Maj Adil Sultan Rao added two goals to their tally. On the other side, Malik Atif Yar Tiwana of Platinum Homes, with a one and a half goal handicap, displayed a strong performance by scoring three goals.In the third match, Guard Group dominated Team Barry's with an impressive 11-2½ victory.
