Federal Cup National Championships: top seed Shoaib posts win
Islamabad(SBR):Top-seeded Mohammad Shoaib (PAF), along with Aqeel Khan (WAPDA), Yousaf Khalil, Barkatullah, Muzammil Murtaza, Ahmad Nael Qureshi, Sami Zeb Khan, and M. Talha Khan advanced to the quarterfinals of the 37th OGDCL Federal Cup National Ranking Tennis Championships, being held at the S. Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex, Garden Avenue, Islamabad.Fourth seed Yousaf Khalil faced a stiff challenge in his pre-quarterfinal match against wildcard entrant Ahmad Chaudhary. The opening set went down to the wire and was decided in a tiebreaker, which Khalil edged 7-5. Ahmad continued to fight hard in the second set but couldn't maintain the same intensity, eventually falling 6-4.In another pre-quarterfinal, M. Talha Khan overcame local talent M. Haziq Aasim in a three-set battle. After losing the first set 3-6, Talha bounced back strongly to take the next two sets 6-1, 6-2.Ladies Singles action saw top seed Sheeza Sajid secure a convincing 6-3, 6-4 win over Lalarukh Sajid. Mehaq Khokhar also advanced after a competitive match, defeating her opponent 6-3, 6-1. Fed Cup:Talha Khan Stuns Seed-6 Abdullah Adnan on Opening Day
Islamabad(SBR):The 37th OGDCL Federal Cup National Ranking Tennis Championships kicked off with an action-packed opening day at the S. Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex, Garden Avenue, Islamabad. While most seeded players cruised through their first-round matches in the Men’s Singles category, a major upset marked the day as unseeded M. Talha Khan of Islamabad defeated 6th seed Abdullah Adnan in straight sets.Talha Khan dominated the much-anticipated encounter, showcasing maturity and skill beyond his years. He stormed through the first set 6-1 by breaking Abdullah in the 3rd and 5th games. In the second set, Talha maintained his momentum and form, not allowing his higher-ranked opponent a single game, sealing the match with a commanding 6-1, 6-0 victory.The second most exciting match of the day featured Muhammad Yahya against M. Hamza Aasim, also from Islamabad. After dropping the first set 3-6, Yahya bounced back to take the second 6-2. He was leading 4-1 in the third set when Hamza was forced to retire, giving Yahya the win in a match filled with intensity and grit.Matches were also played in the Ladies Singles, Junior 18 & Under, and Boys 14 & Under categories, where established players largely overpowered their less experienced opponents.Earlier in the day, a formal opening ceremony was held. Uzair Aslam Chaudhary, CEO of Air Blue, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Federal Cup 2025: 8 players qualify for main round

Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex Islamabad.A total number of 32 matches were decided on the qualifying day. 24 players were accepted directly into the main draw as per PTF National Ranking whereas 8 qualifiers completed the draw of 32. U12: 3 boys and three girls selected for ATF Regional Qualifying Event of South Asia-2025
ISLAMABAD (PR); The Pakistan Tennis Federation announced the national 12 & under boys and girls teams for the upcoming ATF Regional Qualifying Event of South Asia 2025. The event, initially scheduled to take place in Islamabad from 26th to 30th May-2025, at the PTF Tennis Complex, has been relocated to Sri Lanka on the same dates by the Asian Tennis Federation due to current tensions between Pakistan and India.The trials for team selection were conducted from 25th to 27th April, 2025, in Islamabad, 3 boys and 5 girls were invited based on the national rankings. Islamabad (SBR): The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) announced on Sunday that the main-round of the 10th Begum Kulsum Saifullah Khan National Ranking Tennis Championships 2024 will start on December 31, here at the PTF-SDA Tennis Complex.According to an official of the PTF, this prestigious tournament is being organized annually to honour the memory of the late Begum Kulsum Saifullah Khan, mother of PTF Patron Senator Salim Saifullah Khan.A large number of players, including Pakistan's top-ranked athletes such as Aqeel Khan, Mohammad Shoaib, Muzammil Murtaza, Mohammad Abid, Barkatullah, Shahzad Khan, Yousaf Khalil, Heera Ashiq, Meheq Khokhar, Amna Ali Qayum, Sheeza Sajid, and Soha Ali, are competing in this mega event.More than 200 entries from all over Pakistan have been received for competitions in six different categories including Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Ladies Singles, Boys’ 18 & Under Singles, Boys’ 14 & Under Singles, Boys’ 12 & Under Singles.
