Asian Squash: Farhan, Nasir, Ammad and Israr post wins

ISLAMABAD (December 15, 2021):-Pakistan players launched their campaign notably in the 21st Asian Individual Squash Championship 2021, as four local players, Farhan Zaman, Nasir Iqbal, Ammad Fareed and Israr Khan have won their respective matches on the opening day of the international squash championship at Mushaf Squash Complex Islamabad on Wednesday. Pakistan number one Tayyab Aslam and Mohammad Aism Khan got bye in the first round of the 32-man draw.
Israr Ahmed had to toil hard to overcome his challenger Falah Mohammad from Kuwait in a well-contested five-game match in the four-Wall glass court. Israr after losing the first game at 4-11 displayed a quality game in the second game, he was in good touch and played classic drop short and impressive back-hand and fore-hand drives. He leveled the match 1-1 after winning the second game at 11-8. Third game won by Kuwaiti lad in similar style 11-8.
Both players were in peak form in the penultimate game of the match and no one was ready to lose, as it was vital for the local guy to square the match at 2-2. Israr showed sparking performance and won the game at 16-14. Israr kept the same momentum in the last game and won that at 11-9. He finished the match with the score-line of 4-11, 11-8, 8-11, 16-14 and 11-9 after toiling hard for 45 minutes in the court and booked his berth in the second round of the Asian Individual Squash Championship 2021.
In the Women’s event, all three Pakistani girls, Noor ul Huda, Zynab Khan and Saima Shaukat, lost their matches in straight games in 19, 11 and 17 minutes respectively. Women’s first round’s remaining matches will be played on Thursday morning at the same venue.
Vice Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal Syed Noman Ali, HI (M), graced the opening ceremony as chief guest, as the opening match was played between Israr Ahmed from Pakistan and Falah Mohammad from Kuwait that was won by Israr Ahmed 3-2. The final score-line was 4-11, 11-8, 8-11, 16-14 and 11-9, as the match wasted 45 minutes.
