Davis Cup Tie 2026: Pakistan vs Senegal next month in February at Islamabad
Pakistan Tennis Federation asks 13 players to join camp on January 12 in LahoreAbdul Jabbar FaisalISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) announced on Saturday that the Davis Cup Training Camp would be kicked off on January 12 at Defence Club Grass Courts Lahore aim to prepare the boys for the upcoming Davis Cup tie against Senegal, scheduled to be held on February 6 and 7, 2026 at the Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad. PTF invited 13 players for first phase.According to an official of PTF, as many as 13 players will participate first phase of the training camp which will be concluded on January 24 and camp will be shifted to Islamabad for the final phase of training camp. PTF invited Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, Aqeel Khan, Muzammil Murtaza, Mohammad Shoaib, Yousaf Khalil, Barkatullah, Huzaifa Abdul Rehman, Ahmad Nael Qureshi, Mikaeel Ali Baig, Abubakar Talha, Nadir Mirza, Ahtesham Humayun and Zohaib Afzal Malik.Later, in the second round of camp, four local tennis lads including Hamza Roman, Hassan Usmani, Abdul Basit and Haziq Asim will join the camp along with other senior players. Former Davis Cupper and Non-Playing captain Rashid Malik will supervise the training camp. Also, Mushaf Zia, Mohammad Khalid, and Shahzad Khan will serve as coach in the camp.Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, President-PTF, said: “The training camp is an important step in building a strong and competitive national team for the forthcoming Davis Cup tie against Senegal. After the conclusion of the camp, the final team will be announced. We have also invited top junior players to train alongside senior players so they can gain valuable experience and which will work for them in the future.”Zia-ud-Din Tufail, Secretary General PTF, said: “The training camp is scheduled on the Lahore grass courts, and we are confident that the players will prepare well. We encourage the junior players to make the most of this valuable opportunity provided by the Pakistan Tennis Federation.”

Pakistan tennis players arrive in Paraguay for Davis Cup Tie

With this historic win, Pakistan remained unbeaten throughout the championship, showcasing exceptional talent, determination, and teamwork.Now, Pakistan have qualified for the ITF Asia/Oceania Davis Cup Juniors Qualifying Event, scheduled to be held in Kazakhstan from May 19-24, 2025. Davis Cup: Mohammad Shoaib, Yousaf Khalil confirm place in squad
Abdul Jabbar FaisalISLAMABAD: Duo of national tennis lads, Mohammad Shoaib, and Yousaf Khalil have confirmed their berth in the Pakistan Davis Cup team after showing acceptable performances in the trials, which were held at PTF-SDA Tennis Complex Garden Avenue from May 9 to 13, 2024.According to an official of the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF), trials were held to select a couple of players for the national team, as the veterans Aisam Ul Haq Qureshi and Aqeel Khan were exempted form the trials proceeding. Also, Ahmad Nael Qureshi has been selected for the team directly, based on his recent exceptional performances in the national and international junior tournaments.As many as 10 players including 6 men, 2 juniors, and 2 wildcards were invited for the trials after analyzing their performances in the current PTF ranking. Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi President-PTF and Col. Zia-ud-din Tufail Secretary-General-PTF congratulated the selected players, wished them good luck, and advised them to display their best tennis. In the next Davis Cup Tie Pakistan will meet Barbados in September 2024.

On Sunday, Pakistan lost Doubles and a reverse single match.The Indian duo of Saketh Myneni and Yuki Myneni outplayed Aqeel Khan and Muzammil in straight sets 2-0 with the score-line of 6-3, and 7-6. Later on, in singles, India's Niki Poonacha defeated Mohammad Shoaib in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 to extend his country's lead to 4-0.

Ramkumar overcomes Aisam 2-1 in a thrilling three sets contest at grass courtsAbdul Jabbar FaisalISLAMABAD: The Indian tennis team earned a 2-0 lead against Pakistan in the Davis Cup Tennis Tie World Group 1 play-off, which started at the grass courts of Aisam Tennis Arena, Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad on Saturday. Ramkumar Ramanathen, and Sriram Balaji claimed victories for India. The Doubles’ and two reverse singles will be played on Sunday (February 4, 2024) at the same venue.In the first singles, Ramkumar Ramanathen won the toss and decided to serve first, as he hit the first serve in the net, however, the Indian guy played an aggressive game and won the first game without conceding a solitary point. Both players exhibited top-class tennis in the first set and maintained their respective serves till 6-6. Aisam won the first set on tie-break at 7-3 by smashing a couple of aces.After losing the first set, Ramkumar changed his strategy and broke the first game of Aisam without conceding a single point. He maintained the same pace in the second game and finished in a similar style without losing any points and made the score 2-0. Aisam bounced back in the set by breaking the 4th game of his challenger to square the set point 2-2. Both players retained serves in the rest of the eight games. The score was one again level at 6-6. This time Ramkumar won the set on a tie-break to level the match at 2-2.In the decisive set, Aisam did not feel well owing to his injury and during the set, he got three minutes of a medical break. Ramkumar finished the third set 6-0. The final score-line of the match was 7-6 (7-3), 6-7 (7-4), 6-0.  In the second match, Sriram Balaji defeated Aqeel Khan in straight sets 2-0 at the same venue. The final score-line was 7-5, and 6-3.

PTF names 3-boy team for Boys’ Under-16 Juniors Davis Cup
Sports Bulletin ReportISLAMABAD: Three teenager tennis players, Hamza Roman, Mikaeel Biag, Abubakar Talha, have been selected for the Pakistan Under-16 Boys’ team for the Pre-Qualifying Event of the Aisa /Oceana Davis Cup Under-16 Junior fixture, which will be played from February 19 to 24, 2024 in Sri Lanka.According to an official of Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF), the players have been picked-up after conducting trials at SDA-PTF Tennis Complex. Hamza Roman, Mikaeel Biag, and Abubakar Talha produced acceptable performance during the trials.
