Hamdard University Islamabad Campus Sports Week 2024 Concludes
Sports Bulletin ReportISLAMABAD: Hamdard University Islamabad Campus (HUIC) Sports Week 2024 concluded with an exciting day of celebrations, including the cricket finals, a lively family gala, and a grand closing ceremony. The week-long festivities brought together students, faculty, and their families in a vibrant display of sportsmanship, teamwork, and community spirit.  Cricket Finals: A Display of Talent and Strategy: The day began at 9:00 AM with the highly anticipated cricket finals. The Faculty of Management Sciences triumphed in the boys' final with a stellar performance, while the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities clinched victory in the girls' final. The matches concluded at 1:00 PM, with players and spectators alike energized by the thrilling competition. Family Gala: Fun and Togetherness: At 11:00 AM, the Family Gala began, adding a festive atmosphere to the campus. Families of faculty and staff enjoyed a variety of games, activities, and food stalls. From face painting and ring toss to a wide array of delicious cuisines, the gala catered to all age groups and brought everyone together in a spirit of joy and camaraderie. Closing Ceremony: Celebrating Achievements: The day culminated with the grand closing ceremony at 2:30 PM. The program began with a recitation from the Holy Quran and the National Anthem, followed by an address by Dr. Hasan Raza, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Science, and Technology (FEST) and Convener of Sports Week 2024. Dr. Hasan commended the participants and organizers for their hard work and dedication, emphasizing the role of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork, and resilience.The Director General of HUIC delivered an inspiring speech, encouraging students to carry the same spirit of determination into all aspects of their lives. Special recognition was given to standout players for their exceptional skills and sportsmanship. Unity and Sportsmanship: The event concluded with a vote of thanks from the organizers, acknowledging the efforts of all participants, faculty, and families who contributed to the success of Sports Week 2024. Sports Week not only showcased the athletic prowess of Hamdard University students but also brought together the university community in a celebration of unity and collaboration. PU secure positions in All Pakistan HEC Taekwondo Championship
LAHORE (PR): Punjab University has secured 2nd position in 13th All Pakistan HEC Taekwondo men’s and women’s Championships 2024 held at University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore. As many as 17 universities participated in the event.Deputy Director Hurria Hussein was the team manager while Wasif Mehmood was assistant manager. Moreover, in the 13th All Pakistan HEC Taekwondo Men Championships 2024 held at University of Central Punjab, Punjab University secured 3rd position. As many as 16 universities took part in the championship. Assistant Director Sports Mohammad Nabeel was the team manager.
Girls’ Sports Carnival to start on October 18 in Capital City
Over 4000 female athletes ready to show power in seven different sports disciplinesAbdul Jabbar FaisalISLAMABAD: Over 4000 female athletes will participate in the 3-day Girls’ Sports Carnival 2024, which will roll into action on October 18 at Pakistan Sports Complex under the banner of the Federal Minister of Education.According to an official, ministry of the education has set all the arrangements to stage a 3-day mega girls’ sports carnival 2024 to be started on October 18 at Pakistan Sports Complex. As many as 4000 female students across the country, including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, will participate in Girls Sports Festival in 7 sports. As many as 42 teams will fight for top honour in badminton, table tennis, athletics, volleyball, basketball, football and tennis. Syed Junaid Akhlaq, Senior Joint Secretary and Chairman, Federal Board Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) Islamabad, said that the girls’ sports carnival organized by the FBISE and FDE would help bring out the real talent of Pakistan. “This festival will also groom the talent of female students to express their talents and to make headway at domestic and national levels, “he added. He said that for the first in sports events history in Islamabad, girls would perform in a cordial environment under the supervision of women technical officials. He noted that the Youths Education and Sports (YES) Welfare Society would be providing technical support for this mega event.
PU athletes clinch 9 medals in Asian Rowing Championship 2024
LAHORE: (Press Release) Punjab University (PU) players created history by winning 9 medals for the first time, showing excellent performance in the Asian Rowing Indoor Championship 2024, which was held in Penang, Malaysia. PU students won 5 Gold, 3 Silver, and 1 Bronze medal. As many as 19 countries including India, Saudi Arab, Iran, and Iraq participated in the event. PU rowing team participated in the championship under the supervision of Director Sports Zubair Ahmad Butt and Coach Abdul Rehman. Abdul Rahman of PU Department of Economics claimed 2 gold medals and one silver medal while Zarak Khan from Hailey College won 2 gold medals. Gohar Ayub of Sports Sciences won 1 gold and 1 silver medal while Iqra from Sports Sciences won 1 silver and 1 bronze medal.Abdul Rehman and Zarak Khan were declared the best-time performers in the championship. Students of Punjab University won two gold medals in the team event. PU Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr. Khalid Mahmood congratulated the players for this wonderful, and historical achievement.He said that the players of PU made the country, the institution, and the nation proud. He said that day and night hard work of the Department of Sports, coaches, and players paid off. He said that despite limited resources, PU provided Rs 1.5 million to players to participate in the event. Director Sports Zubair Butt thanked the PU VC for encouraging sports on campus.  
Punjab University athletes win HEC Rowing Championship
Sports Bulletin ReportLAHORE: Punjab University men's and women's teams won the first position in the All Pakistan Higher Education Commission (HEC) Rowing Championship 2023-24. As many as 12 men's and 10 women's teams from the country participated in the championship held at the University of Lahore and the University of Central Punjab, in which PU teams stood first. Punjab University men's team won 5 gold and 3 silver medals while the women's team won 6 gold and 2 silver medals as well. PU Director Sports Zubair Butt congratulated the players on this wonderful achievement.  
Handball Provincial League for Men Concludes at UET Taxila

Akmal Hussain, Director Sports UET Taxila, undertook the responsibility of organizing the league, ensuring its smooth execution, and fostering an environment conducive to talent exploration and sportsmanship.The closing ceremony of the Provincial League was graced by the esteemed presence of Prof. Dr. Qaiser Uz Zaman Khan, Vice Chancellor of UET Taxila, as a chief guest. UET Taxila organizes PM Youth Sports Handball Talent Hunt Trials in AJK
Report: Mohammad Azam DarISLAMABAD: The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Taxila organized the Prime Minister (PM) Youth Sports Handball Talent Hunt Program at Mirpur University Sciences and Technology (MUST) Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) under the banner of Higher Education Commission (HEC).According to an official, the men’s trials of handball were held from January 22 to 23, 2024 at the City Campus in MUST Mirpur AJK aiming to dig out young talent of handball. The talent hunt program contained extensive trials and assessments to identify the most promising male handball players.It is pertinent to mention here that more than seventy (70) players appeared in the two-day trials from Mirpur and its surrounding areas. After hectic trials and competitions showcasing the participant's skills and teamwork, the promising and budding 17 players were selected to represent the Mirpur region in the league to be announced by the HEC later on.Vice Chancellor MUST, Brig. Prof Dr. Younis Javed, SI (M) graced the occasion as chief guest, and the opening ceremony of the talent hunt was also graced by the presence of esteemed guests including Brig. Prof. Dr. Younis Javed, SI (M), Director Business School, Prof. Dr. Zafar Ahmed, Treasurer, Dr. Khalique Ahmed, Abid Hussain, Director Sports, MUST, Umer Mehmood, Secretary General, Rawalpindi Handball Association, Dawood Siddiqui and sizeable spectators. Lahore Garrison win Women Rifle Shooting Championship
Sports Bulletin Report KARACHI: Lahore Garrison’s shooters have won the title of 9th All Pakistan Inter-University Women's Rifle Shooting Championship that held at PNS Bahadur Karaz Shooting Range under the banner of Higher Education Commission (HEC). Punjab University secured second while Karachi University team claimed third position. The female shooters from 16 different universities took part in the competitions. Lahore Garrison University won the team event of 10 meters air pistol and the gold medal in the individual event, besides the silver medal in the event of 10 meters air pistol, scored a total of 101 points and was declared the winner. Punjab University stood second with 67 points while Karachi University earned third position with 52 points. Among the universities that participated in the mega event were Karachi University, Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam, Islamia University Bahawalpur, Lahore Garrison University, Lahore College for Women University, University of Lahore, University of Punjab, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, UMT Lahore, Superior University Lahore, BZD Multan, Host Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology Karachi, SSB Dewan University Karachi, Dow University of Health and Sciences, Karachi, Iqra University Karachi and Bahria University Karachi included. Director Sports HEC, Javed Ali Memon graced the prize distribution ceremony as chief guest and distributed trophies and prizes. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor of Sir Syed University Dr Waliuddin, Rear Admiral (R) Syed Sarfaraz Hussain, Vice Admiral (R) Shah Sohail Masood (Star of Imtiaz Military), Sohail Bashir President Institute of Engineering Pakistan, Registrar Sir Syed University Commodore Syed Sarfraz. Ali, Dr. Basit Ansari, Convener Sports Qazi Nasr, Organizing Secretary International Mubasher Mukhtar, Director Sports NED Farkhanda Faseeh and Director Sports Compassion University Shamir Khattak were present on this occasion.
