LAHORE:-Rising squash lad, Anas Ali Shah has won the title of Punjab DC Open Squash Championship 2023 after overcoming Shoaib Hasan 3-2 in the final here at Punjab Squash Complex on Friday. The final score-line was 10 -12, 11-4, 11 -8, 9 -11 and 11-0.
In a thriller final, both players exhibited top quality squash and amused sizeable spectators during the five games contest. Although, Anas lost his first game on tie-break, however, he settled on the court with changing the game strategy to overcome his opponent.
Anas Shah won the second game pretty easily and finished at 11-4 and third at 11-8 to make the lead 2-1. Shoaib bounced back in the game by winning penultimate game at 11-9 after a nail and bite competition. Shah on last game and became champion of the tournament.
At the closing ceremony, chief guest Deputy Commission Lahore, Rafeh Haider distributed the prizes amongst the players. The top officials of Punjab Squash Association (PSA) were present of this occasion. Chief guest congratulated the winners.
