CAS International Squash: Noor Zaman, Amina win titles
An injury forced Mohammad Asim to quit final against Noor ZamanAbdul Jabbar FaisalISLAMABAD: An injury forced second seed Mohammad Asim Khan to bow out in the final of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) International Squash Championship against fourth seed Noor Zaman after lasting 18 minutes in the court here at Mushaf Squash Complex on Monday. Asim was down 1-0 and was crawling 8-2 in the second game when he decided to quit four glass-wall squash court.In the first game, Mohammad Asim was looking a bit defensive, as his opponent Noor Zaman, who had toppled the top seed player of the tournament in the semifinal, displayed an aggressive game and got a lead of vital four points at 9-5. Mohammad Asim changed his game strategy and won three back-to-back points to make scoreboard 8-9. At this stage, a powerful forehand stroke hit right on his shin. He cried with pain, as Noor got a conduct warning and a stroke point too by referee Mohammad Sajjad. Noor Zaman finished the first game at 11-8.Air Marshal Irfan Ahmed, HI (M) graced the final as chief guest and distributed the prizes among the players. The champion Noor Zaman received a prize money of US$1805 along with trophy while Mohammad Asim pocketed US$1140. Pakistan MMA Team to participate in World MMA Championship
Sports Bulletin ReportQUETTA: President, Pakistan Mixed Martial Arts Federation (PMMAF), Zulfiqar Ali has announced that Pakistani athletes would take part in the World MMA Championship, scheduled to be held from December 6 to 10, 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand.“Asim Khan and Shahzaib also would represent the country in the event. Initially, we had planned to send seven males and as many female athletes to participate in the championship but due to scarcity of funds. We decided to send only four athletes now including Shahzaib, Asim Khan, Dawood Jan, and Abdul Rehman along with team coach Imran Qasim, “he added.

Chief selector Mohammad Asif Bajwa unfolds the names of playersPakistan to face Netherlands on December 6 in their opening fixtureAbdul Jabbar FaisalISLAMABAD: The National Selection Committee (NSC) Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) headed by Mohammad Asif Bajwa named an 18-man national hockey junior team, which will take part in the forthcoming FIH Junior Hockey World Cup 2023, starting from December 5 at Bukit Jalil National Hockey Stadium, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. As many as 16 teams worldwide will fight for top honour during the 12-day international prestigious hockey showpiece, as Argentine will defend their title.On Wednesday, Mohammad Asif Bajwa flanked by member of the NSC Olympian Anjum Saeed, Manager Asif Naz Khokhar, and Head Coach Roelant Oltamans, announced the squad after the approval President PHF, Khalid Sajjad Khokhar.It is pertinent to mention here that Green Shirts won only one time Junior Hockey World Cup title in 1979 after defeating West Germany in the final. In 1993, Pakistan had claimed the silver medal while three times Pakistan got third position in 1982, 1985, and 1989.
