Pindi Test: Bangladesh thrash Pakistan by 6 wickets
Bangladesh register historical Test Series 2-0, Litton Das receives “Man of the Match” awardAbdul Jabbar FaisalRAWALPINDI: Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 6 wickets to post historical victory against Pakistan in the second Test match at Pindi Cricket Stadium Rawalpindi on Wednesday. This was just Bangladesh’s third series win outside home and first against Pakistan. And befittingly, Bangladesh’s most decorated and experienced cricketers – Mushfiqur Rahim (22) and Shakib Al Hasan (21) – were at the crease when their side wrote history. The two batters had joined hands at 153 for four after Abrar Ahmed had picked up his only wicket of the Test by dismissing Mominul Haque (34).In the first Test, Mushfiqur had scored a gallant 191 to steer Bangladesh to a commanding 565 in the first innings, while Shakib had taken four wickets in the match, including three for 44 as Pakistan were spun out for 146.For Pakistan, it was their sixth loss in 10 Tests at home since their 95 runs victory over South Africa on 8 February 2021, making it 1,303 days without a home Test win. Overall, it was Pakistan’s 11th loss in 23 Tests with eight wins since Hasan Ali’s 10-fer against Quinton de Kock’s side.It was also Shan Masood’s fifth successive loss as Pakistan captain since taking over from Babar Azam for last year’s tour to Australia, while it was also a forgettable start for Jason Gillespie as Pakistan’s red-ball head coach. With Pakistan’s next Test against England at home on 7 October, Bangladesh have left Pakistan with a mountain to climb. The series loss has also ended Pakistan’s hopes of qualifying for the ICC World Test Championship final at Lord’s next June. After seven Tests, Pakistan is languishing eighth in the nine-team table with 16 points.Resuming their second innings at the overnight score of 42 for no loss in pursuit of 185 runs target, Bangladesh went for lunch at 122 for two and wrapped up the series a stroke before tea as rain stayed away whole day.In the first session’s play, Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam were the batters to be dismissed, falling to Mir Hamza and Khurran Shahzad, respectively. Zakir was bowled on 40 after starting the day at 31, while Shadman added 15 runs to his overnight score of nine to depart after contributing 24 runs.Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (38) then added a 57 runs partnership for the third wicket with Mominul to put Bangladesh on a course for a comfortable victory. Litton Das, for his 138 runs in the first innings after Bangladesh had plummeted to 26 for six and six dismissals, was adjudged player of the match. Mehidy Hasan Miraz for his 155 runs in two innings and 10 wickets in the series was declared player of the series.Summarized Scorecard (Day-5): Bangladesh won by 6 wicketsPakistan Batting (First Innings) 274 all out in 85.1 oversAbdullah Shafique (b Taskin Ahmed) 0 run, balls 6 (4x0, 6x0)Saim Ayub (St Liton Das b Mehidy Hasan Mirza) 58 runs, balls 110 (4x4, 6x2)Shan Masood (LBW b Medhidy Hassan Mirza) 57 runs, balls 69 (4x2, 6x0)Babar Azam (LBW Shakib-ul-Hasan) 31 runs, balls 77 (4x2, 6x0)Saud Shakeel (b Taskin Ahmed) 16 runs, balls 28 (4x2, 6x0)Mohammad Rizwan (c Shanto b Nahid Raza) 29 runs, balls 63 (4x2, 6x0)Agha Salman (c Shakib Al Hasan b Taskin Ahmed) 54 runs, 93 balls (4x3, 6x2)Khurram Shahzad (c Shakib-ul-Hasan b Mehidy Hasan Mirza)12 runs, balls 41 (4x0, 6x0)Mohammad Ali (c Shadman Islam b Medidy Hasan Mirza) 2 runs, balls 16 (4x0, 6x0)Abrar Ahmed (st Litton Das b Mehidy Hasan Miraz) 9 runs, balls 7 (4x0, 6x1)Mir Hamza (not out) ZeroBangladesh (Bowling):Mehidy Hasan Mirza (5 for 61), Taskin Ahmed (3 for 57), Shakib ul Hasan (1 for 25), Nahid Raza (1 for 50)Bangladesh Batting (First Innings): 262 all out in 78.4 oversShadman Islam (b Khurram Shahzad) 10 runs, 23 balls (4x1, 6x0) Zakir Hasan (c Abrar Ahmed b Khurram Shahzad) 1 runs, 16 balls (4x0, 6x0)Najmul Hossain Shanto (b Khurram Shahzad) 4 runs, 6 balls, (4x1, 6x0)Mominul Haque (c Mohammad Ali b Mir Hamza) 1 rusn, 2 balls (4x0, 6x0)Mushfiqur Rahim (c Mohammad Rizwan b Mir Hamza) 3 runs, 9 balls, (4x0, 6x0)Shakib Al Hasan (lbw b Khurram Shahzad) 2 runs, 10 balls (4x0, 6x0)Litton Das (c Siam Ayub b Agha Salman) 138 runs, 228 balls (4x13, 6x4)Mehidy Hasan Miraz (c & b Khurram Shahzad) 78 runs, 124 balls (4x12, 6x1)Taskin Ahmed (LBW Khurram Shahzad) 1 run, 5 balls, (4x0, 6x0)Hasan Mahmud (not out) 13 runs, 51 balls (4x1, 6x0)Nahid Rana (LBW b Agha Salman)Zero run, 2 balls (4x0, 6x0)Pakistan (Bowling):Khurram Shahzad (6 for 90) Mir Hamza (2 for 50), Agha Salman (2 for 13)Pakistan Batting (Second Innings): 172 all out in 46.4 oversAbdullah Shafique ( c Litton Das b Hasan Mahmud) 3 runs, 10 balls (4x0,6x)Saim Ayub (c Najmul Hossain Shanto b Taskin Ahmed) 20 runs, 35 balls (4x3, 6x0)Khurram Shahzad (b Hasan Mahmud) Zero run, 6 balls, (4x0,6x0)Shan Masood (c Litton Das b Nahid Rana) 28 runs, 34 balls (4x4, 6x0)Babar Azam (c Shadman b Nahid Rana) 11 runs, 18 balls (4x1, 6x0)Saud Shakeel (c Litton Das b Nahid Rana) 2 runs, 10 balls (4x0, 6x0)Mohammad Rizwan (c Litton Das b Hasan Mamud) 43 runs, 73 balls (4x5, 6x0)Agha Salman (not out) 47 runs, 71 balls (4x6, 6x1)Mohammad Ali (c Namjam ul Hasan b Hasam Mahmud) Zero run, 1 ball, (4x0, 6x0)Abrar Ahmed (c Najam ul Hasan b Nahid Rana) 2 runs, 12 balls, (4x0, 6x0)Mir Hamza (c Mehdiy Hasan b Hasam Mahmud) 4 runs, 10 balls, (4x1, 6x0)Bangladesh (Bowling):Hasan Mahmud (5 for 43), Nahid Rana (4 for 44), Taskin Ahmed (1 for 40)Bangladesh Batting (Second Innings) Target 185Shadman Islam (c Shan Masood b Khurram Shahzad) 24 runs, 51 balls, 4x2, 6x0)Najmul Hossain Shanto (c Abdullah Shafique b Agha Salman) 38 runs, 82 balls (4x5, 6x0)Mominul Haque (c Saim Ayub b Abrar Ahmed) 34 runs, 71 balls (4x4, 6x0)Mushfiqur Rahim (not out) 22 runs, 51 balls (4x1, 6x0)Shakib Al Hasan (not out) 21 runs, 43 balls (4x1, 6x1)Pakistan (Bowling):Mir Hamza (1 for 46), Khurram Shahzad (1 for 40), Abrar Ahmed (1 for 40), Salman Agha (1 for 17)Pakistan (Playing XI): Shan Masood (captain), Saud Shakeel (vice captain), Mohammad Rizwan (wicketkeeper), Saim Ayub, Abdullah Shafique, Babar Azam, Mohammad Ali, Khurram Shahzad, Abrar Ahmed, Mir Hamza, Agha SalmanBangladesh Team: Najmul Hossain Shanto (captain), Shadman Islam, Zakir Hasan, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Litton Das (wicketkeeper), Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Hasan Mahmud, Taskin Ahmed, Nahid RanaMatch Officials: Umpires: Michael Gough (England), Richard Kettleborough (England) TV Umpire: Asif Yaqoob (Pakistan) Reserve Umpire: Rashid Riaz (Pakistan)Match Referee: Ranjan Madugalle (Sri Lanka).

Dawid Malan Announces Retirement From International Cricket
Sports Bulletin ReportLondon (UK): England cricketer Dawid Malan has announced his immediate retirement from international cricket, concluding an outstanding career that includes 22 Test matches, 30 One-Day Internationals, and 62 T20 Internationals. The elegant left-hander amassed 4,416 runs for his country across all formats.Dawid Malan said: “It has been an incredible journey since July 2017. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to play for England in all three formats. Cricket, like most sports, is an industry where almost everyone eventually retires wishing they had done that little bit more. Whether you’ve played ten Tests or 100, many step away regretting not playing just one more, scoring a few more runs, or winning more trophies. Right now, as I retire from international cricket, I can say I am genuinely satisfied. It has not been easy. It may be my nature, but for whatever reason, it has always seemed that I had something to prove and often felt as if I was playing for my place. The pressure goes with the territory, but it does take a mental and physical toll. Even so, I look back with pride on what I have been able to achieve.”Managing Director of England Men's Cricket, Rob Key said: “Dawid Malan retires after an excellent international career marked by resilience and determination. Early on, he had to fight for every opportunity, often facing some of the best teams in the world. His contributions were pivotal, particularly during the memorable World Cup victories in Australia, where he played an integral role in the team's success. His legacy will be remembered as one of tenacity and achievement on the international stage, traits any player would be extremely proud to have.”
